Ribeye Special with pasta
Aimee G.

This used to be my regular spot when I lived nearby. There's plenty of free street parking in the area. They don't take reservations but it's easy to get a table. Staff are very friendly and it's very clean inside. Portions are good and food is tasty. It's usually a stop if I'm doing a mini crawl in Roosevelt because there are some other fun places nearby.

Squid ink pasta with scallops

After reading other reviews I would say there is a pretty consistent theme - food is pretty good, service is just ok. The biggest issue for me is that I bit into a piece of plastic while eating the salad, informed the server of it, he took it away and came back to say "i think that was a piece of the plastic container that came off when we opened it, sorry about that!" Then there was absolutely nothing else they did about it - I thought they would comp the salad or at least discounted, or maybe not charge us for the bread basket, something small like that - but nope, nothing! Other than that, we enjoyed the food. They only offer one red and white by the glass - a Chianti and a Pinot Grigio - but when my partner asked for a second round of his red wine, interestingly they poured a different wine than his first glass. Maybe they rotate what bottles are open and the first one ran out? The aforementioned salad was not bad - very simple - arugula with diced Gorgonzola and beets, with a white balsamic dressing. Some of the leaves did not look in the best shape, and of course the plastic kind of ruined it. The bread in the bread basket was good - crusty and crisp on the outside but soft and chewy inside. You are given some dishes of herbed olive oil and fresh grated Parmesan on the side (my favorite part) The Siciliana pizza was pretty good, heavy on the olive/capers so you need to enjoy that flavor profile. The dough had an interesting texture, not as chewy/elastic as some other pizza doughs. The squid ink pasta with scallops (and I think pancetta bits), was very tasty. Comes in a really rich cream based sauce but it wasn't overwhelmingly creamy. You get 3 scallops. Pasta was nicely Al dente. Not a huge portion but not tiny either. Their completely cavalier attitude in response to me biting into plastic in my food was disappointing and left a bad taste in my mouth, to the point that I'm on the fence about coming back again - especially after reading other reviews. Which is too bad because I did actually enjoy the food.

Veal shanks... Incredible!

Salvatore is fantastic and eating some specials tonight and drinking a Negroni made by Claudio. The ossobuco made veal shank on bone is tonight and I usually get veal too. This is our favorite place!

One of the best Italian restaurants in Seattle. It's authentic as as it can get. I feel like I'm in Italy when I'm here. And the entrees are reasonably priced. This is a family owned business and the staff is amazing! They are extremely nice and passionate about the food and culture.

Tagliolini capesante (squid ink pasta with scallop)

I think I might have found my new favorite Italian restaurant in Seattle! I tried the tagliolini capesante, a squid ink pasta with scallops. The entire taste was so good and it had the right mix of creamy and savory. The scallops were cooked to perfection. No complaints about it. This item was on the special menu and not the regular menu so just be aware of that when you order here! After our meal, my friend and I shared a tiramisu which was also really good too. The servers were really kind and attentive and our host was enthusiastic and checked in with us regularly. Definitely coming back soon.

Unequivocally the best Italian I've tried in Seattle!!! I visited almost exclusively for the squid ink pasta with scallops, and it was exquisite. Perfectly cooked noodles, decadent, and flavorful. A unique dish that you can't find many places. The desserts were also excellent - I tried both the ice cream and tiramisu. The tiramisu is great for those who don't like overly sweet desserts - the espresso flavor was very prominent ! Our service was very friendly and amiable. So expect that service will be slow - it was busy and they appear understaffed. But the wait was more than worth it.

Service was a little behind but our server was only 1 of 2 people serving the whole restaurant so kudos to the elder gentleman with the extravagant service. He was awesome! Food was good and the bread pudding for dessert was great! It was soooooo good that I didn't have time to take a pic. Delicious!!!!!!!

We've been going to Salvatore for over 20 years and food, service, and ambiance is always top tier - My favorite italian restaurant - the food is always so delicious - We have so many favorites - my absolute must order are the prawns appetizer, calamari, burrata - for dinner - pescatore prawns, bolognese, wild boar, fileto gorgonzola, squid ink pasta with scallops - the service is friendly and Salvatore is a wonderful sweet human - we absolutely love it there

Protiferoles - delicate pastry shells stuffed with vanilla ice cream and topped with a delicious Belgium chocolate sauce and whipped cream!
Sidney P.

This is such an iconically classic Italian restaurant. We've been numerous times, and always thoroughly enjoy it. Menu is extensive with lots of quintessential choices, and the specials menu always has really great offerings as well. You'll almost always see Salvatore in the house - he runs a well oiled machine. Highly recommend this city gem!

One if the specials, a creamy Ragu tossed with Bucatini.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I read about…read morethis place prior to our trip into Seattle. I tried for two weeks make reservations, with no luck. Finally a Monday night at 930 became available, I immediately grabbed it. They had a cancellation and actually called me see if I wanted an earlier reservation, which of course I jumped on that too. Appreciated they made the call and whoever cancelled. The ambiance gave old school and new school Italian vibes. The service from walking in to leaving was 5 star. Everyone was friendly. Our server was very attentive, and he was very thorough with explaining dishes and making recommendations. They started us off with complimentary rabbit pate on a crosstin with balsamic drizzle and fresh bread. The rabbit pate was very good. We started off with some cocktails, The paper plane, negroni, espresso martini and bello bandito. No complaints there. For food we tried the Insalata di cicoria - Chicory salad. It was topped with gorgonzola crumbles and pomegranate seeds. The salad was paired perfectly as the Chicory is on the bitter side. Next up was the Tajarin con burro E salvia, which was a fine hand cut egg yolk pasta with cultured butter and sage. I love you can order half or full plates. This pasta was velvety, and full of flavor. I normally do not like a thin pasta, but I loved this one! Risotto di mais was up next. This was a risotto with fresh corn and tomato butter, this was by far the best risotto I have ever had. We only ordered a half, but my next visit would be a full! The flavors all shined through. You could taste everything with each bite, the Parmesan, tomatoes butter, sweetness from the corn. All the food was amazing, but this was by far my favorite bite! Protein we went with the trota con fagioli, pan seared trout with salsa fagioli and carmalized onions. The salsa fagioli was a creamy white bean like sauce. The fish was pan seared perfectly with great flavor. Loved it, skin and all. Ended the meal with a decadent torta al cioccolato, chocolate cake with gianduja moose, chocolate buttercream, hazelnut brutti ma buoni and luxury cherries. I am not a dessert eater, although this looked amazing, I didn't try it, BUT my dinner companions loved it. I would never come back to Seattle without getting reservations here!

Really, really wanted to give this restaurant a higher rating but it fell short. Here's what I did…read morelike - our server was great and the space is lovely with a cozy, warm vibe. Unfortunately, the food did not hit right. Here's what we ordered: Appetizer: Crispelle - Crespelle filled with taleggio & fig mostarda with roasted figs and walnuts: Tasted like a crepe filled with brie - just OK. Primi: Tajarin con burro e salvia - Fine hand-cut egg yolk pasta with cultured butter and sage. I see the potential but someone was heavy handed with the salt so it ruined whatever flavors were supposed to come through. Secondi: Salmone reale - Pan-roasted king salmon with sauteed chanterelles, crimini brodo and thyme oil. Again, could have been really great but the mushrooms & sauce were overly salty. I think I read another review that captures my sentiments . . . perhaps whoever was the chef that night fell short. I specifically asked if the head chef Stuart was there and they said no.

Not only to experience the food, but the DREAMY outdoor space I had seen all over social media. Service was excellent from start to finish. We managed to get an outdoor seat (yay!) and the vibes were immaculate from the start. It definitely gives off more romantic/date night vibes, but it was also fun to experience with some ladies from my team. Perfect for a girl's night! Obsessed with the string lights, the fountain, and the overall atmosphere. You somehow don't even realize you're in the middle of Seattle when you're here. The menu has so many options which made it so hard to choose, but I ended up going with the Fettucini ai Fungh - fresh fettuccini pasta with wild mushrooms served in a light cream sauce topped with truffle oil, and I also added chicken. When I say this is probably my FAVORITE pasta I've had in Seattle, I'm not kidding... I almost cleared my plate which is hard for me as my eyes are always bigger than my stomach, but I made it happen! The cream sauce was rich but not too heavy, and the truffle oil was prominent without being crazy overpowering. 10/10 absolutely no notes. Hands down would have trouble ordering something else when I visit again. Without a doubt, I will be returning in the future for a date night!

We had a reservation for 7:00 PM and specifically requested outdoor seating. When we arrived, they seemed very busy, so we simply said that if our outdoor table wasn't ready, we would be okay sitting inside instead. We were only trying to be accommodating and make things easier for the staff. We were initially seated inside, but they eventually moved us outside because that was what they had available and what our reservation was originally for. At that point, the staff seemed noticeably upset with us for having sat inside. Our host then argued with us and said that we had requested to sit inside, which simply wasn't what happened. We never demanded or even preferred indoor seating. We preferred to sit outside from the beginning and only offered to sit inside if it helped because they seemed busy. It was frustrating to have our attempt to be flexible turned into an issue and then be argued with about what we had said.

I ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese, and shortly after, house-made bread arrived complimentary, served with olive oil and an herb-based dipping mixture, along with a small ramekin of grated cheese. The bread was very good and a nice start to the meal. The Spaghetti Bolognese was excellent. I took my time with it and really savored each bite -- the rich, creamy sauce with the Bolognese was honestly heavenly. Exactly the kind of comforting pasta I was hoping for the night before a race. I'd recommend making a reservation, although surprisingly they weren't particularly busy on a Saturday evening. Given how good the food was, that genuinely baffled me. All in all, a home run -- and I went on to finish 5th overall in my race the next morning, so I'd say the pre-race pasta did its job. I'll definitely return to Brunello if I'm back in Seattle. For those short of time and live with no adventure I'll cut to the chase. The food is exquisite…read more For the rest, please read on. This last week while traveling for business to Seattle I had the pleasure of dining at Mezzanote. Their name of course implies it is an Italian restaurant but what you don't realize until you have sat and initiated your meal is that you, regardless of choice are embarking on a beautiful tribute to Northern Italian cuisine. At first arrival, the immediate impression is one of modest presentation but friendly and very inviting ambience. The staff, including our Server Marcus was attentive and had impeccable timing to read the table and flow of those joined in the meal. Check back was perfect and his service support was equally in tune with the other tables on the patio where we sat. Now this is what you have been waiting for... The food and I mean, we had almost one of every item on the menu and every dish was simply delicious. Tastes that were balanced and never overwhelming, but truly inspired dishes that your taste buds understand that the food was made with care and meant to satisfy even the toughest of pallets. Let's start with the house focaccia and ask for the disco sauce to dip your bread. It was a tummy satisfying start but then they dropped the focaccia regala and with the cheeses melted in a medley that left me thankful I was as they say "hungry as a hostage" because the meal had just begun. The next appetizer brought out was the Carote... This medley of carrots smoked with a Chile Honey Glaze left this BBQ born and raised Mexican wondering why ?? And then I had my first forkful and any doubt that I had about the chef creating something sacrilegious by smoking carrots left me, as the flavors were amazing. For a moment I forgot I was eating my vegetables.. where was this when I was a younger man. On to the main courses and the Reginette was first up. This Bolognese was a hearty blend of flavor and subtlety as it wasn't overly anything except satisfying. The Braciola Dia Miaale was a durock pork chop with a rhubar mostarda and salsify puree with asparagus that could not have been better. You didn't have to be a pork chop fan to enjoy this at all. Every dish that arrived was better than the one before. The Bucatini C'Anciuova, Prawns with Calabrian Chile, anchovies, tomatoe and orange zest was a delight and I don't normally eat anything overly spicy. This was a balance of heat with a twist of tang that the orange zest delivered flawlessly. Allow me to share that it is imperative you save room for dessert. Their tiramisu taste as if there is some Italian grandmother locked away in a pastry room kicking these out. They have other desserts to be sure, but this is the star of the show in my opinion. For those of you that are wine enthusiast, they did have a wine list that was impressive. All in all, for those that follow me, you know that it is a rarity for me to give any place I visit five stars from the first visit. Consistency is premium in my book. But as I mentioned to one of our fellow diners. This food is amazing, and the reality is each of these dishes could be served in a five-star venue layered with opulence and still the food would outshine the location. The only drawback was there was no Coke Zero... Damn it ...Turns out though that can be a pretty tough find in the city of Seattle in all the restaurants. For one that does not participate in alcohol or wine, my taste buds were not underserved and I survived without my Zero. This place is a go-to for any Italian yearning for authentic Italian food made with love. That's the only way I can describe just how good the food is. This isn't something that is prepared in volume for the masses. The chef and that team are simply serving with their hearts and it resonates with every bite. I'll be back, again and again. Oh and should you find yourself needing to go to the restroom. Ask for the Disco restroom.. that alone is worth the drive... Lol until next time Mezzanote! Thank you for a wonderful meal.
