Sunday 5:30 dinner. Made a reservation and was running late but I called and they were very nice and changed my reservation for 30 mins later. Plenty of parking and staff, plenty of bar space if you just want a drink. Multiple TVs and can see from all seats. They also had a solo musician playing. Over all noise level was moderate and didn't have any problem hearing and talking. Place was pretty full when we arrived but were greeted and seated promptly. Menu had a lot of choices and my date ordered a chicken and penne pasta dish, I ordered the shrimp and grits. My dish was really good (8 out of 10) but not as good as other places I have had shrimp and grits but still enjoyed. The only bad thing to say about my visit is that their sweet tea had an odd taste. Cannot figure out exactly why but either it's the brand of tea they use or maybe they use unsweet tea and add simple syrup or something other. O my goodness this place is legit. Staff is all friendly and super attentive. Super cool and laid back vibe. Saw people in a coat and tie and also had t shirts and comfy shorts. The food not a bad bite was had across the table. We had the BLAT loved it. Got the 10oz sirloin with rice pilaf and Mac and cheese. Steak was cooked perfectly and great flavor and the Mac and cheese taste like the best you've ever had from a grandma or aunties house. We got the spinach dip for an appetizer, very creamy and good. A bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo of which was good. A pasta of which I forgot the name of. Came with chicken, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes and an Alfredo sauce. I recommend having them add some blackening seasoning to it because blackening seasoning on pasta is just the way to go. Side note: they can leave off anything on the pasta you don't like. When you enter, they open the door for you, which I thought was lovely. The interior is beautifully decorated. It's a small space, but you don't feel crowded. Service was good. The food was a hit. I had the seafood pasta, which was absolutely delicious. My husband had the chicken marsala, which was tender and juicy. I come to this Republic girl multiple times a month if not every other week I get the same thing almost every single time. I've had a few issues with my steak not being well done but I know that that is a odd request so I don't hold it against them, but today took the cake as one of the worst experiences I've ever had. I originally placed an order for a kids sirloin well done with mac & cheese when I got there and got my food. It was just a order of fries. The server told me there was a misunderstanding when the order was taken, so I offered just to bring it back when I did. I was met to the manager telling me that they had it on video the steak going into the box pretty much looking for me to confess something? Even though it easily could've just been picked up as the wrong box I'm not quite sure what happened here, but the overall experience made me feel very uncomfortable even though the food was remade I received poor quality food, and it did not meet the well done standard I appreciate the original server and her patience and I understand that working in the service industry and in the restaurant business is not easy but for someone who is so loyal to come back all the time this experience definitely sealed the deal as my last visit read more

This restaurant was inside the Westchase Marriott. The servers were friendly but unfortunately a bit slow. My recommendation is on weekends where there is something going on at the hotel.... Double your waitstaff. The food however was delicious! I had the Salmon Cesar Salad the first night.... Decided to drop in after a full day of running errands. Our server was Adam and he was super nice, funny, helpful and gave awesome recommendations for both food and drinks. Everything came out at just the right time - none of that getting the appetizer and two seconds later, the main course is out. Everything came out nice and hot and was so delicious. My soda of choice, Coke, was nice and cold and fizzy. No flat soda here! So no, I have no complaints. However, one small thing I have to be honest about: I was a bit taken aback at the hostess when we arrived. There was no "Welcome", "Hello" or even a smile. It did catch me off guard a bit, especially being the first point of contact. We were the only ones walking in at the moment, so I can't even say she was just really busy and rushing. It just seemed as if she didn't want to be bothered. Was she nasty towards us. Not at all. However, I think a simple "Hello" or "Welcome" would go a long way. By the way, I worked in food services and/or retail for a very long time. So I'm not picking. Which is why I didn't remove any stars. We drove 120 miles round trip to come and check this place out. We were not disappointed. The restaurant itself is really nice, elegant but not pretentious. Nice clean decor, lighting, CLEAN restrooms. The staff was amazing, from the hostess, to the waitress, and the management. Top notch. Special shout-out to Courtney our waitress, she was great. Now to the food, couldn't have asked for anything better. We only eat out once a week, after church, and this place hit the spot big time. I had the fried chicken (special for the week), some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. The kids plates were great, my wife loves the potato soup and coconut shrimp. We live long ways off but don't mind road-trips if they include great food and service like you will find at republic grille. I have been a regular customer at the Discovery Green location since they opened. I was once old by a waiter that I was sitting in "prime real estate" because a friend and I were having drinks and appetizers only at a booth. I let that slide. However, it appears they have been smacked for overserving. The manager on duty last Friday, Sarah (blonde, glasses) humiliated me at the bar after two drinks (over a two hour period), mentioning the TABC several times. It was raining so I opted to have another drink (my friend was driving and I live 5 minutes away), and asked for a Makers rocks. The bartender (who has waited on me on the floor numerous times) gave me a Makers and coke. I had to get his attention to tell him that wasn't what I ordered but he wouldn't make eye contact and soon after Sarah appeared. She was extremely rude. When my friend asked what the difference was between a Makers rocks and Makers coke, she responded, "I'm sorry you feel that way." Whatever. I'll never step foot in this location again. So beware if you feel like having a third drink - you might be unnecessarily and rudely called out in front of everyone for no fault of your own. Sarah needs training on her people skills. read more

Found this restaurant on open table, and it had lunch reservations so I decided to give it a try but was overall pretty disappointed with my experience. The good: The atmosphere and design of the restaurant is nice and classy. The menu offers alot of options from burgers to chicken fried steak to gumbo. The bad: we ordered the chips and queso & bruschetta for an appetizer. For lunch I had the chicken fried steak, jalapeño Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. My family member ordered the shrimp and grits which had shrimp that was not deveined. We politely asked the server if they devein their shrimp and he said he'd consult his manager. He returned and told her she could devein it herself or take the shrimp out and they could devein it and bring it back? Seemed like a completely odd request I feel like when you get a dish like this it is normal to just take it back and make it correctly? Once the manager came out to sort the situation out he wasn't very kind or helpful overall.
