Excellent little place , first off I love that it's a converted service station hence the pump cafe as in gas pump. The interior decorated accordingly. The food is higher quality and it's very good. The omelette was delicious!! The atmosphere here is very cozy/classic in the sense that they have wooden tables and chairs and old gas pumps as the decor. I'm only giving two stars, because three stars says "A-Ok." I had a breakfast burrito, deconstructed. However, it was a bit too deconstructed, the cheese was served on the side in a plastic portion cup. Canned salsa served in a portion cup. The tortilla was not even warmed. All sides are served here in plastic portion cups, even syrup for pancakes. Also, the hashbrowns were only browned on one side. Stopped in on a Saturday morning while in town for swim meet. Great atmosphere and service. I had the raspberry French toast, with sausage and hash browns. My wife had the biscuits and gravy. The place was pretty busy at 9:30. The French toast was great and sausage patty was large. However biscuits and gravy was cold, sent back, and cold again. Another customer table over had same experience. Needless to say ours didn't get but a bite. My wife shared my food. So.. Don't order biscuits and gravy. What a delightful find. This repurposed gas station has wonderful food, great service and an eclectic interesting decor. The breakfast burrito with house made green chile sauce is wonderful. It's definitely enough to share. The corned beef also house made is well spiced, not greasy and delicious. It was recommended to us by a local person and we were very happy that we came. The staff can be pretty friendly, but they don't stick around long enough to talk to. Service is a little slow, even when they're not busy. Their fries were sort of saggy, but their club sandwich was delicious. My husband liked the flavor of his burger, but wound up getting it made well-done instead of medium like asked for. The decor inside the place is welcoming and interesting to look at while you wait for your food. The parking could definitely be changed, if possible, and same with the hours of operation. I just find it hard to eat at places that are mostly only open during the morning time. It was an okay experience. Nothing too amazing, though. read more

Great place for lunch & I've heard their breakfasts are good too. Last time we were there, they were going to be starting weekend evening service - they showed us the menu for dinner & it looked interesting though somewhat limited (makes sense if they are just starting evening service). Some other reviews have said their service is slow, but that hasn't been my experience unless there're super busy. Again, that makes sense to me - wait for a table = probably wait a little longer for your food. read more

A very special find! The food was incredible and the service perfect. We had the daily special which was a Benedict with spinach and bacon. We also had blueberry pancakes. Although the parking lot is tiny and on their heavy business days you might feel a bit cramped in the main dining room - these are two things that absolutely never distract from the things that matter. The service is always perfectly attentive and the food always arrives in the perfect amount of time. I have heard complaints about the service being slow and people having to wait for their food but it is not fast food. The wait time is always entirely appropriate for a sit-down restaurant, especially considering the high volume of diners. Their food has never disappointed me and is good enough for a second portion if I have a light appetite or to fill me up perfectly when I'm starving. Minor things like having a small parking lot or feeling cramped when they are extremely busy should not discourage anyone from eating at this fine restaurant. I've been to the pump cafe twice now! And both times I was pleasantly surprised with just how great it was. The atmosphere in there is just plain adorable and really relaxing and peaceful. The food has just an amazing, fresh and homemade taste to it even though most their items are pretty simple (their pancakes are great! And I've heard the French toast is amazing). The perfect hole in the wall breakfast place you've always been looking for. Large portions and cheap prices -- 20 dollars for the 3 of us -- helped lead to a 4 star rating in my book. The bacon was a rare steaming hot and was made fresh to order. A great atmosphere inside with friendly people and good service. After two years of absence, we decided to try this restaurant again. In our absence we found new owners now run the place. The same waiter we had problems with in the past is still there but now doing a very good job at service. The unfriendly attitude seems gone now.
