This place is relatively small and seating is pretty limited. Upon entering the restaurant, there's a large glass window on the right and you can see the cooks making all that deliciousness. You wait in line, order & pay the cashier and then eat your food, bumping elbows with other patrons. The restaurant is so small - probably the size of an apartment living room. What we ordered: Surf & Turf Grilled Cheese - ooey gooey but a little overwhelming with the different flavors. I liked the pastrami and the cheese but I think the crab made it a little weird. 3 stars. The best forkin' chicken sandwich - fantastic flavors. I loved how the chicken was grilled and had a slight charred (but not burnt) flavor. The chicken was moist, too. 4 stars. Mac salad - average. Nothing to write home about. 2 stars. Very casual food stand but the food is as good as it gets!! We came by for a quick dinner. Its located in a nondescript strip mall so didn't know what to make of it as we drove in. Simply based on reviews we ordered the lamp lollipop, grilled chicken, sliders and a burger. Everything was great! The lamb was tender and flavorful. An order comes with 4 chops and the jalapeño coconut rice. The grilled chicken was a piece of dark meat served with the jalapeño coconut rice and mac salad. The only knock on it is the portion but it was delicious. The boys loved their burger and sliders. They even loved the bun. The place is small. You order at the counter and seating is all counter style and very limited. You can see into the kitchen through a clear glass window. I had the pleasure of going here with my friend before he moved away to SF. He went for the Yuck Mouth burger ($8) and I the Best Fork'n Chicken Sandwich Ever ($8.50). Yes, that's what it's called, peeps. It was a Wednesday at around 3pm and seating wasn't too great. They have really limited seating so plan for that. It might be better to take it to-go. The Yuck Mouth is a garlic lover's dream as the bun is slathered with a generous heap of their garlic spread and the meat patty itself is also infused with garlicky goodness. I'm not a burger person, but the burger came out really juicy. My friend loved it and he's convinced we have to go again when he comes back to SD to visit. As for the best fork'n chicken sandwich ever... YUM! The chicken was cooked to perfection. Super juicy and full of flavor. I was only able to finish half and took the other half home. It wasn't as good at home, so I'll try to finish it next time. It came with a side of their mac salad, which was also good. My friend also ordered the Portobello Sliders ($7), which was really incredibly sweet! They must have slathered the mushrooms with some type of sweet marinade. One of the best sandwiches I have ever had. We got the ring of fire burger, the June bloom, and then the Notorious PIG. We split that between 4 adults and it was still almost to much food (almost). We all agreed that the burgers were perfectly cooked. The small atmosphere gives a great personal experience and the open kitchen truly shows the freshness that goes into every meal. Would recommend to out of town friends due to the simplicity and easy location in La Jolla. This location is a little smaller (I hear their other location is a bit larger), and we arrived with 12 people--but the staff was so nice and accommodating! The guy at the counter Nick was especially awesome and made our experience at the restaurant great. We had the salmon tacos, which were great and not greasy--while not super healthy, they were delicious and not too heavy. The tacos were served with jalapeño coconut rice, which was great as well--sweet with a very slight spice. During brunch, they have $12 champagne bottles, and you can get orange juice to make mimosas--a nice treat. read more

This is a MUST eat at spot!! Don't be fooled by its size because the taste is large!! The ring o fire burger was my favorite but I also really enjoyed the other items I had there, so much so I ate there three nights in a row during my five night trip to SD! The seating is communal and it's not a big place at all so if you go and it seems there are no tables available that's because there are no tables! If there are seats available sit there! Since downloading this yelp app, I've been exposed to so many places! I was in charge of finding a place since I have the golden app ticket and came across this small joint in La Jolla. The food pictures looked fantastic and the reviews were high. I always take that with a grain of salt though because I have been to several places that where just "meh" despite high stars. Any ways, when we arrived the place smelled so darn good and was a bit busy. We must have come at the right time because it mellowed out just after we ordered. We got there around 630 on a Friday. It took about 25 minutes to get our food upon ordering but that is because they have takeout also. Note to self, order ahead of time! The wait was well worth it though. I got the notorious P.I.G with potato wedges and extra small side of coconut jalapeño rice. Friggin amazing!! My dude ate the salmon tacos with the rice and grilled veggies...... friggin delicious! And my brother in law got their hot burger which I think was called atomic something or other. He said it was fantastic and he will definitely go back. The service was nice and pleasant. We felt bad for the waitress though. She was all alone taking orders in person and on the phone AND running people's food and drinks out to them. She did it well and with patience. Go to this place!! Parking: this place is in a "strip mall" type of location, so they have plenty of parking available in front. Place: this place was TINY. There was one large table indoors and a lot of bar like seating along the edges (but with pretty small "tables") and outside. I personally did not like this, and felt crammed while eating. Food: delicious! The Brussel sprouts were AMAZING!!! I also got the salmon bowl. It was good, but nothing compared to the Brussels sprouts lol.
