Pool Guy is awesome until you he sells unit that doesn't work. Bought a Salt Cell backed by warranty & and fully refund policy. As soon as Guy heard me say I don't want return it and don't want a replacement. His attitude changed, it was like stopped hearing and go into this mode of trying to find me at fault. He started talking over me trying to explain what was wring with the uni. Offer to do a live video or make and send him a video but he feels that if the unit reads the salt level accurately then unit is good. The unit goes into fault on every the start up, If it is turned off and back on immediateLy it resets and appears to be running ok but with wasn't generating chlorine. Pool Guy was rude and is charging me 50% restocking fee. read more

We purchased a house with a pool last summer and two weeks after we closed escrow, the pool turned green. Oh oh. We discovered that the pool pump and filter were literally held together with duct tape, one of the favorite tools the previous homeowner like to use to maintain his property. We got quotes from several vendors regarding a new pump/filter, and choose the Pool Guys because of their completive bid and their excellent Yelp reviews. Nathan was very helpful talking to us about our pool and gave us his recommendation for the type of pump/filter/sweep. There were a few issues with the equipment, but we have been very happy with the level of service provided by the Pool Guy. We have had issues with the sweep. The first time, Nathan came out and discovered that it was a lemon and provided us with a replacement. The second time, I had dropped my Bluetooth in the pool and it had clogged the sweep (oops). Most recently, the pump was not priming and there were a few days the pump was not running. Nathan came out and spent a good deal of time walking me though all of the parts of the pump that could be causing the priming error. Eventually, he discovered that a tiny "o-ring" was cracked, leading to air getting into the pump. The cracked "o-ring" was a manufacturing issue, and a replacement "o-ring" is on the way. This is my first time owning a pool, and we have had challenges with our pool. I feel that in Nathan I have a guy I can trust, who has good integrity, and is an expert in his field. I just got a text from my wife saying that our Niece had just taught our 4 year old son how to swim - how cool is that!! read more

Every week, the pool technician leaves a door slip so we know they were there which I really like. Nathan came out and gave us quotes on three pump choices. The replacement process took only 2-3 hrs. Last summer, I knew I needed to find a new "pool guy" as the one we had been using more regularly billed me for services which never occurred than actually servicing of my pool- So I called Nathan's The Pool Guy on a recommendation of a friend and I have never been happier! Nathan, the owner, came out and sat with me for over an hour to complete a detailed analysis of what was going on with our pool. we then decided the pool's chemistry was so messed up it needed drained and refilled so we could start off balancing it correctly. It has been regularly serviced every single week since then without exception. It is the middle of winter and my pool is just as sparkly clean and devoid of winter debris as the middle of swimming season! when my equipment is operating at less than peak performance, it gets evaluated and repaired- Nathan and his team are professional and deliver exceptional service all the time every time! I wasn't going to give these people a review, but since they don't seem to respond to emails or calls I figured maybe this would get their attention. They have just sent me a $125 bill for a visit they did April 2016, with a short note in ALL CAPS saying it will be forwarded to collection if not paid. As I told them in my voicemails and emails, both to their main line/email and to the individual email address for Ann (who schedules the work) & another worker we had an email for, we did not pay this bill because their people did nothing to address the problem we called them out for, and they never even told us what they had supposedly done. We had a circulation issue and a pool turning green, their guys came out and maybe backwashed or cleaned the filter - nothing more than I would have done (and actually I told them before their visit that I'd recently cleaned the filter). Who knows, I pushed to ask what they'd actually done, and they gave no details on what they did. And they had no interest in following up to fix the problem, just told me not to put too much DE in the filter (I never put any more into the filter than they previously had instructed, which was exactly what the manufacturer & Leslie's recommended). Regardless, they did not solve problem, as I said in my phone messages and emails. It actually worsened after they came, the pool was not skimming, so the water was stagnating, getting dirty, turning green, and the filter kept needing cleaning way more often than it should have. I had initially called them to come out because I had no idea what was causing this - but their service call had no affect on the problem. It took me a long time after their lame visit to fix the problem, and that was only after troubleshooting, water testing, and consultation with and payment to other pool experts. I asked that this bill be removed since no services were rendered. Pool Guy never answered me, not calls or emails. I am now printing out the most recent bill and will snail mail it to them with a message, hoping it gets through. I began minimizing my contact with these folks after they installed our backwash valve backwards a few years ago. When I contacted Pool Guy to tell them someting was wrong, Ann argued with me, and said she didn't like the implications that I made when I called to tell her something was not right, because she stood by the quality of their workers, etc. Well, the pool was getting dirtier each time I backwashed, and pressure was going up, not down. So I knew there was a problem. We had them add the valve because our pool lacked one, the backwashing was supposed to make things better, not worse, and we had paid in full for the backwash valve installation. Ultimately I called Nathan, the very first person who came out to our house, who seemed to really know his stuff. I bypassed the office, called him directly. He was nice enough to come out, and lo and behold he figured out that The Pool Guy's folks had put our valve on BACKWARDS, which had caused my 4 new DE quad filters to all blow out. Since he found their mistake, I was credited the cost of buying new filters, and he fixed their shoddy work. But it was not because of Pool Guy's management or great customer service, it was just because of him. After that, I hadn't planned on calling them anymore. But last April when we seemed to be having more circulation issues, I figured I'd try. they came out, did nothing, and left me in limbo having to fend for myself to solve the issue, and pay someone else for help. That is why I did not pay the April 2016 bill. They're looking to get paid for nothing at all, and for crummy non-responsive/dismissive customer service, and still have never replied to any of my calls or emails. read more

I needed a pool service for weekly chemical balance. They wanted to bring my filter up to standard so not to waste chemicals. Good idea. But I could not get an estimate of the work that needed to be performed or the cost to to that. When their "expert" tech came out to evaluate there was more suggested work. Requested an estimate and never received it. The expert tech took apart my filter to examine it and when putting it back together "forgot" to put Diatomaceous Earth back in the filter when he was done which made it ineffective. I could not recommend this pool service to my friends. read more

I would definitely recommend The Pool Guy for those looking for excellent pool service. We had quite a bit of work done including safety fencing, a new pump and routine cleaning. Our new pump is awesome and saves us money and is very easy to use. The fence looks better than we expected it would and our pool is sparkling and brushed well without any problems. After moving into our new house we were lost concerning who would service our pool and we met Nathan and received honest, gold star service. They even worked in the most brutal of heat on a holiday to finish what needed to be done and did the job perfectly. I feel so much better knowing our pool is safe, clean and maintenance free for us! An update to my review of January 3. The work quoted was schedule and performed on time and for the quoted price within four days of the initial consultation. The pool water has never been more sparkling and without, for a change, any effort on my part. Nathan recommended removing a non-operating heater and unused but in place plastic piping for solar heating (the solar panels had been removed 20 years ago). My old pool service never made the suggestion. The improvement is amazing -- the pump does not have to work as hard as before, it runs quietly now and the flow through the skimmers is much improved. I recommend The Pool Guy to all -- great service and great results! read more

Terrible service. Front office contact has no idea what customer service is about. Needs some listening ears. Quotes different prices with each call, must be adding it up in her head each time. Nathan would not provide a written estimate of work to be done or the cost. Turn around time took a week each time an issue was raised. So no written estimates, did not return phone calls or emails in a timely basis.This lead to a bad feeling about what was going to come up next. If time is crucial, and you need to know what is going to be done before he starts, look somewhere else. read more

Worst customer service ever. I don't know what their pool service is like because I can't even get them to show up for an appointment. First off, they didn't return my call for the initial message I left seeking service. So next I tried an email message from their web site, still no response for several days, so I telephoned again twice and no answer or voice mail to leave a message. I tried again a day later, only because a friend of mine had recommended them from her small business group, Le Tip? Finally got a woman on the other end and tried to get an appointment that fit with my 9-5 work schedule. Made appointment for a thursday the following week. On tuesday, the woman called to reschedule, said they couldn't make the original appt. Called back on Wednesday to reschedule, woman slightly rude, not very good phone skills as I had to coax some suggested appointment times out of her. Agreed to reschedule to Friday morning, 8:15 am. Friday morning, waited until 8:40, no show, no phone call. Finally left for work. 10:40 now, still no phone call from them, no apology, no service. Poorest business practices, wonder how their business is doing. On another note, this is about the fifth business I have been referred to from Le Tip, all have been poor, no shows, or poor work once they did show up. read more

I have utilized The Pool Guy services for a little over a year and a half now and this review is for both the pool service and the customer service. Pool service was satisfactory but mind you all I had was the chemicals only service and not full service with filter cleaning etc. They maintained my pool and were always on schedule. However, their customer service is lacking. Ann is the main person you talk to when there are issues or concerns about your service and I must say she is not friendly and very rude. Every time I've spoken with her she seems unconcerned like she has better things she could be doing. In fact, when I emailed The Pool Guy to inquire about changing my service time to earlier in the day I was denied so I had to rethink my service agreement. When I called Ann to cancel she just simply said...."do you want them to service your pool today" and when I said "no thank" she said "ok". Now as a business I would want to know why the service was getting cancelled and if there was anything I could do as a business to correct the situation and keep the customer. NOPE not with The Pool Guy or specifically Ann who represents The Pool Guy. They don't seem to care and if I had known this was the service I was going to get I would have never used the company to begin with and would have gone with someone else. My suggestion is use a company that cares about their customers. read more
