We have been a customer of Hammerhead Pools since our pool was installed in 2021. Working with Mike & Chandler has been great. We worked with Mike during the construction portion, then transferred over to Chandler for all service issues. Our Salt Chlorinator started to malfunction just outside of our warranty. Chandler scheduled a service call the same week and was able to talk with the manufacturer to have our salt chlorinator replaced fairly quickly once the part was available. Any service issues or questions that come up, Chandler is quick to respond. We've had three service requests since our pool was installed in May, 2024. All requests were responded to very timely. The first request was a faulty valve actuator and was replaced as soon as the part was received (it was on backorder). The second request took a bit of time to setup, but I was still very happy with the service. The latest request was the best response yet. We had a power outage (we live Cool) and somehow our spa no longer functioned. Chandler responded to my request within 24 hours to setup a visit for the following week. However, he called me a couple days before the service call to try a fix through the Intellicenter App. SUCCESS! What I value most about the Hammerhead Pools service was that Chandler had my spa issue on his mind over the weekend and Monday, which tells me he/they value their customers. OK, so Hammer Head Pools built my pool approximately 10 years ago. Mike the owner is a great guy and really knows pools inside and out. From building new to servicing, etc. Over the last 10 years we've had some ups and downs on the service side of things, but the new service manager Chandler is going to be a great asset to the service department for sure. I also own a Plumbing, Heating And Air company and really appreciate great customer service when I receive it! Chandler has been the best Customer Service I've seen from Hammerhead in the service department and I would imagine I'm not the only Hammerhead customer that will appreciate him. His follow up has been great. When he says he's going to do something he does it. In November 2022, I signed a contract with Hammerhead Pools for the construction of a new swimming pool and spa. In March 2023, I paid Michael Marier from Hammerhead Pools $15,000 in order to terminate the contract as part of a settlement agreement. I then filed a complaint against Hammerhead Pools with the Contractors State License Board (CSLB). The outcome of their investigation was that "...the involved contractor was responsible for one or more possible violations of the California Business and Professions Code", as shown in the letter below. Our backyard project was the last project to complete our forever home. We interviewed 4 different pool companies for this project. We did a TON of research on what things cost, the invisible mark ups that exist in the pool industry and came up with a budget that we could afford. Mike was the only one that worked with us and broke everything down. NPT is the tile company that services pretty much all pool contractors in the area and every tile, rock, hardscape all looked the same. We didn't want the same look every other pool had. Mike took time to understand the "look" we were going for and allowed us to find our own tile through Modern Tile. Through each stage of the project, Mike explained to my husband the process and was patient with him as he likes to watch and learn. Mike's subs are some of the best in the area. They were on time, they are definitely passionate about the work they did and it showed. They cleaned up their area before the end of each day. I would pop out from time to time to just go over aesthetic questions and they were open to feedback. With Mike being so busy and so hands on on all his projects the only suggestion I would give is for him to get a project manager that can field additional questions, follow up non-emergency, random question calls and deal with the daily minutiae that clients like me have. I worked with Ryan, and he came up with a great design that accommodated all my requirements and fit in my small space. They not only built the pool, they were able to save my turf and re-install it, put up a beautiful patio cover, and provide additional landscaping. The owner Mike started with us by advertising their company as Pentair experts, supposedly fixing our Pentair system (Intellichlor, lights etc) in return we will give the monthly service of our pool to them. After a year and thousand of text messages and calls and visits, our pool gotten worse. The salt water started to smell chlorine and the lights that he promised he'll fixed has gotten worse. ) He started blaming the contractor / builder of our pool(El Dorado Custom Pools.) After almost a year of all these frustrations we decided we could no longer allow them to get in out property, he decided to file a lawsuit against us for not paying their lousy service. Wish I could say something good, but I'll share my experience (or lack there of so far.) Called the company about 3 weeks ago reference making some minor repairs to my water features. Spoke to the service manager named Justin, who stated they could definitely assist with my need. He stated the owner Mike services the Rocklin area and would call me right back to get me on the schedule. Well, I didn't get a call back that day or the next. I called Justin the following week and he apologized for not getting back. I thought well at least he apologized and he stated he would call Mike now and give me a time for him to come look at my pool. I get a call back stating Mike is in the area and will stop by my place around 2pm. Then a time frame of 1:30 and 3. I really have been wanting to get my pool repaired and make it a priority to be home to meet with mike. Changed my days schedule and waited around the house. I get a call from Mike at about 2 pm saying he is busy and can't make our appointment. I try my best to explain my pool issue and he tells me that they are booked up for about a month or two out for jobs, but he could get someone they work with to help me. I asked if I could send some photos that he can provide to those people to get it fixed. He says sure and says this was his cell phone. I give some photos and I don't hear back. I texted him to confirm response... No answer. I wait two days and no call back or follow up. I then call his phone twice, one time I leave a message with my contact Info twice. Apparently, blown off and or not wanting work because here I sit with a broken pool. I honestly hate leaving bad reviews, but super unprofessional. I've been an in ground pool owner for 7 years now and have gone through 5 different pool maintenance companies. Mike and hit team at Hammerhead Pools is by far the best we've had. Honest, responsive, knowledgeable, ethical are just some of the many superlatives I could use to describe their work. Mike saved us money early by realizing that none of the previous companies adjusted the RPMs on the filter. This, in essence ran hundreds of dollars a year needlessly down the drain and over worked the motor. We've had the pleasure of being serviced by Aaron, Greg and Carlos. Each of them have gone out of their way to find quick resolutions to problems, stayed until the job was complete and even came on their off time, on holiday weekends, to resolve issues and get us swimming again that day. We had a certain pool equipment replaced with Hammerhead. Mike is a good salesman and knows his stuff, he communicates fast and timely manner. The tech came on time and did a good job. But watch for the prices they quote for equipment, it is much more expensive than what you would find elsewhere because of their extremely high markups. When asked about this, I was given a lecture on free market and capitalism. Yeah, no kidding. Good tech and know how, but not a great interaction. I felt belittled by Mike's aggressive attitude and behavior. It is like he doesnt care for customers to return with more business. UPDATE: I am not his employee and never was. I was a customer and here is proof of what kind of person Mike is. Here is his messages to me in response to this review "Good morning Kasey, In our earnest efforts to get in touch with you to discuss the situation you have provided we have found that A. We have no customer in our database with your information B. You have not returned any response from us trying to get in touch with you. We are now proceeding forward and allowing the sheriff's department to track your information so we can file a defamation lawsuit against you. Just so you are aware it is illegal to post Fradulent information in order to damage the reputation of a business. In this situation the court will rule how many days the post has been online and estimate the damage caused by dollar amount. With this information turned over Yelp can tract the IP address and break down your information from their." BTW, I will be reporting your threat to Yelp. I am posting a review regarding Hammerhead Pools Maintenance Service. My new swim/spa was completed in March of 2017. I hired Mike to do the top level service for my pool, pool water, and pool equipment. I had three different maintenance persons during one year. The constant change was not helpful in building a relationship with the person taking care of my huge property investment. I have researched and learned lots during the past four months regarding salt/chlorine pools. In these pools, the salt is converted to chlorine by the intellichlor. This action with the salt causes corrosion ten times faster than just chlorine. Therefore, maintenance must be analytical and meticulous. The conversion of salt to chlorine can make the pH level seem too high and when it reaches the pool water it may lower. The weekly testing of pool water is very important to rule out any possible problems. The attention to the intellichlor output is also valuable information. My intellichlor blinked high salt content all of summer 2017 and all of winter 2017-2018. My intellichlor output was set to a high percentage and I ended up with a pool of chlorine and chemicals. Maintenance told me that the intellichlor was inaccurate. My builder, Advanced Pools, said do not worry about it. It was never reported to Pentair under my three year warranty. The ending result as of April 2018 was a soup of green chemicals in my pool, damaged hydramatic cover due to the high chemical levels, and corrosion to all of my Pentair pool equipment. All of this could have been avoided if I had been receiving experienced service and if my filter cartridges had been cleaned as stated, if my intellichlor had been monitored, if the percentage output of salt had been adjusted, if my service schedules had been adjusted after the first shock and balance of my water. I knew nothing about the equipment and paid for that service. Now I know more than I ever wanted to know. I did not receive competent experienced service from Hammerhead Pools. Mike never came out to make sure that I was receiving all my paid services and that all was in good shape. He also is to monitor the maintenance reports at all times. This was not done. If I built a pool again? I would build a chlorine pool. I would have a written maintenance contract versus oral, and I would hire one person/company to maintain my pool, pool water, and equipment. I would hire a person only with years of experience. I now have huge property damage and if fixed, I must disclose everything when I sell my home. So not only is my property presently damaged, it is damaged for a future sale. I would not recommend Hammerhead Pools for maintenance.
