The Order - The Point Punch, Limoncello Mojito, Hushpuppies, Warm Crab Doughnuts, BBQ Shrimp & Maryland Crab Cakes.   The Cost - $68 per person   The Great - The best dish was the Maryland Crab Cakes which were very good and did not contain a lot of filler. The downside of this dish - the price: Market Price was an astronomical $50.   The Good -The Limoncello Mojito was a cross between a lemon drop and a mojito. It was nice that there wasn't much sugar added since limoncello was sweet enough. The Hushpuppies had cheddar, scallions, honey butter, and pork sausage inside but while they weren't bad, I expected the flavorful ingredients to stand out. The idea of the Crab Doughnuts, warm doughnuts filled with crab dip, made my mouth water, but the execution left me wanting more. The "doughnut" was good but it was too hard and dense and it was all I tasted. The BBQ Shrimp consisted of about six nicely spiced large shell-on shrimp. It would have been a winner but the spices were on the outside of the shell and when the shrimp were peeled, most of the flavor was lost.   The Okay - The Point Punch is made with rum, cognac, peach brandy, simple syrup, lime juice, and cherry. There was too much cognac and brandy and the peach flavor was very artificial, making this a drink I wouldn't order again.   The Bad - The restaurant's 3% fee to use a credit card - an unnecessary separate fee that leaves a bad taste in your mouth. We've been waiting to try this place out (restaurants always start out with a few hiccups) and I'm glad we did. We went on a beautiful spring day and were able to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air and views. Our server was excellent- extremely attentive. The crowd was a nice mix of people - less pretentious that a lot of the Wharf restaurants, but still classy. We enjoyed the sushi, grilled shrimp, and shrimp pasta. All were delicious. We were treated to a chocolate bar dessert for our anniversary. It was something i wouldnt have ordered, but really ejpyed. The restaurant is larger than I expected. The aisles are of a decent width and could accommodate a walker or wheelchair. The bathrooms have large sinks with a foot pedal to operate the faucet. Another diner with us said the spinach in her roasted beet salad salad was soggy from too much vinaigrette dressing. This is a very nice looking restaurant. Went for Easter Brunch today with family and friends. The location is beautiful with great view of the water. Unfortunately, we had horrible service the entire meal. We sat down and noone came to take drink orders. We had to flag down a waitress to order drinks. We ordered drinks and our appetizers. My mother ordered coffee but the server forgot, and the appetizers arrived before she had coffee. Mom had to remind server that she ordered a coffee. The 4 of us ordered clam chowder appetizer. They came with small teaspoons, and 2 of the spoons fell in the soup while they were serving it, so they took 2 of the soups back to replace them with new spoons. Brunch came with 4 side dishes for the table, mac and cheese, grits, potatoes, and some vegetable dish. Took a while for the sides, and when they finally came, they were served on table without any serving spoons. Had to sit around and wait few minutes to flag someone down and wait for them to bring spoons. Grits and mac n cheese for 4 people should be a no brainer to serve with a serving spoon. The food was really, really good. There was buffet with 3 delicious meat dishes. I emptied my glass of water while eating and it stayed empty for a while. I had to ask my server 3 times for a water refill before she finally remembered and refilled my water. The "apple pie sundae" desert was served on another table in a regular ice cream bowl and looked appealing, so 2 of us ordered it. But, our table's desert was served in a coffee cup with a spoon, and was basically a mix of ice cream and apple pie crumbs in a coffee cup. Very strange. It was too sweet - the 2 people in our group who ordered it were finished after their first bite because of the overwhelming sweetness. Finally, the check came and there was a $30 gratuity charge added on top of the bill. The menu on their website mentions that gratuity is added for parties of 6 or more. There were 4 us, and were still charged a gratuity fee. Long wait for table, long wait for service, we were informed there is a time limit for tables, which is ridiculous considering the only thing that would make you go over the limit is the long wait for your food. Silverware was dirty. Food was greasy and overly salty. Feels like if Applebee's plunked into a gentrifying neighborhood and charged $23 for a burger. Only thing to recommend it is the view, but you can get that for free on the walking path and benches outside. read more

We ordered the calamari and sushi for appetizers, which were very good. The California roll had caviar on top, which was a delectable treat. For entrees, we ordered the lump crab cake sandwich and the jumbo shrimp with braised pork. I dived into my sandwich before taking a photo LOL but just know, no filler comes with this sandwich. I normally do not add it to my crab cakes, however the remoulade sauce has some kick to it, so adding it to my sandwich was a must! The rice in the shrimp and pork had a little spicy kick to it as well. Go visit! CONS: We were torn between the crab donuts and the mahi mahi tostadas but went with the donuts since it came highly recommended by the server. However, the crab donuts were not at all what we were expecting and was merely balls of dough with crab dip poured over top of it. The crab dip was VERY salty and the "donuts" didn't have any flavor to make them or the dish stand out. If the dish is revamped and they ease up on the salt, it has potential to be a uniquely great dish!! Amazing! Since this place changed head chefs this place went from okay to amazing. Crab doughnuts for 20 dollars!?!?! Yes please! Taiwanese style fried chicken as an appetizer?!?! Yes please! I returned to The Point for Restaurant Week and had an amazing experience. The service I received was top notch. The waitress checked in on me between courses and was very friendly. My food came out quickly. I had lobster bisque for my first course. It was the best lobster bisque I had during Restaurant Week. It had chunks of lobster meat and was well seasoned. I had mussels for my second course. They were so delicious and I appreciated the interesting blend of flavors. I had an Oreo sundae for dessert as well. I came here for my best friend's birthday dinner. It was our first time, and the restaurant is set against a quiet area of the SW waterfront with tranquil views. The restaurant itself is really nice, to be what seems like a very causal place ( in terms of how patrons dress) We sat outside right by the water and ordered cocktails which were great! My friend had the scallops which she thought were ok, I had the chalkboard special of the day which was a grilled white fish with roasted fingerling potatoes and asparagus. As I started eating it, I started to notice that one section was not fully cooked. I was super afraid I was going to get food poisoning, but the manager assured me I should not because it's also a fish used in sushi, and thus could be eaten raw. She was very apologetic and gave me a free Caesar salad, ( I didn't want to take my chances with the fish again.)I also ordered the crab donuts which were good. The star of the show was the strawberry shortcake dessert, it tastes like it's mixed with a bit of lime, and was absolutely divine!! Overall, the restaurant is nice, and I would come back. Brand new and you can tell by the service. They were not very friendly until my guy friend came and kept ordering food & drinks. I hate snooty service workers who act like they are not there to do their job which is-SURPRISE!- to serve us. Needless to say, the wine, cocktails and food were very good. And the views are awesome. I'll be back but I hope they hire nicer, experienced wait staff and bartenders which would really make this a special spot in DC. read more

The food is mediocre at best. Ordered the cornbread (which was the best thing we ate) and it came when we were done with the main course. They took it off the bill, but it was the kitchens fault, not the server. We tipped on the proper total. The atmosphere is 'Ode de Marijuaua". They also charge you for using a card. The cost is a percentage of the total bill. But they will graciously show you where the ATM is located, of course there is a fee there also. Honestly, who carry's cash? Well you better to go here. Saw a TikTok on The Point and thought I'd try it out during restaurant week. It definitely didn't disappoint...food was amazing...we had the crab donuts as our appetizer...delicious, and the Crabcakes for our entrée they were two very sizable crabcakes with fingerling potatoes, green beans and carrots. The vegetables were nice and crispy not over cooked. We did have to wait along time for the cornbread, which came after we were finished eating...the apple butter was delicious...loved the chunks of apples in the butter. Finally made it to check out The Point. As a DC native I had to make my way down to ol' Buzzard Point and see what became of the old Coast Guard territory. Of course the view is amazing. Perfect water & sunset views AND a breeze on summer nights. Server: This was my third visit and I've had a couple servers but my favorite so far has been Mecca. Me & the crew caught him in the bar area...personable, knowledgeable & made a good cocktail = overall great service. The Parking: Street parking is limited. I mean no matter what's new in town it's still old SW DC real estate. The garage is convenient. Ran me $8-12 for a couple of hours. Valet $14. And of course the food: It's the same restaurant group behind Ivy City Smokehouse, Nick's, Tony & Joe's... so I made a lot of assumptions! The menu had similar choices/match ups! Was told the Brussels, crab donuts, wings & wood fired oysters were go to appetizers and of course I tried them all. Was not a fan of the donuts (it's crab dip and bread that can get soggy fast) but they delivered on the others. The BRUSSELS are a stand out, don't debate me...I'll get them EVERYtime. The only entrees I've tried so far are the Crabcake sandwich (not a lot of filler but not a large size) and the salmon (cooked perfectly, mushrooms and curry added a nice flavor). I was very excited to try The Point DC. I've seen pics on social media and had to try it for myself. The views and decor are absolutely breathtaking! I love the modern/sleek look with pops of greenery throughout. I arrived 7 mins past my reservation and waited an additional 20 mins for a seat. There was much confusion at the host stand as to who was sitting my party. We opted for outdoor bar seating to get the full experience. We were promptly greeted by the bartenders who ensured we had a great experience. The ambiance, atmosphere, food and drinks are all top notch! Can't wait to come back! Fun dishes in a bright open space by the water. I went to The Point twice in two weeks and had a nice experience both times. I tried a bite of food from almost all my family's dishes and they were all good. The appetizers didn't have serving spoons, but that's a common "mistake" in US restaurants. You have to try the Warm Crab Doughnuts! They were so satisfying and an ideal comfort food for an east coaster. I really liked the Hushpuppies but I wasn't a huge fan of the spicy sauce. I guess I just think honey butter works so well with Hushpuppies that any other sauce just doesn't feel right. I recommend the fish and chips. I was happy that the fish wasn't overcooked, which can be a problem when you fry fish. Out of the desserts, the s'mores was my favorite. They have a wide selection of beers and fun cocktails. I love the large indoor space, it has high ceilings and seating areas are well spread out. There is an open kitchen in the back and there is an area near the entry that has an opening to outdoors, which was nice as it was open for most of our meal. I wish it would've stayed open for our entire meal, but I guess as it was cloudy they didn't want to keep it open. First- please know that this may not be the best place if games scheduled & you hate traffic like me. there are Dc's baseball and soccer stadiums within a few blocks. TRAFFIC BLOWS on a Saturday. That also means no parking other than the $12 valet. Cool. I'm an oyster snob, so for me, the grilled oysters were a bit greasy, but had decent flavor. Decided to try this place after it being highly recommended to me by a relative. My husband took me here for my birthday dinner on a Saturday evening and to my surprise it was not crowded at all. We had plenty of seating options inside and out even though we had reservations. We were so overwhelmed by the plethora of food options on the menu, that we decided to get a bunch of small plates and share them. We had the crab donuts, clam chowder, oysters, wood roasted Chesapeake oysters, spicy tuna roll, & a shrimp tempura roll. When I say The Point doesn't disappoint, the customer service from being greeted until we left, the food, and the atmosphere, they are a 10/10 in my book and I will be back next week. read more

How beautiful is The Point! The establishment is beautiful, the view from the outside patio/bar is beautiful! Who doesn't love a water view! This place is pretty spacious with two bars (indise & out) and plenty of seating both outside and inside. My husband and I made reservations for 7:30 pm. We got there 30 mins late because of DC united traffic (we didn't know about the game). We were very lucky to actually find parking free right outside but there is a parking garage/ valet attached to thr building. We were seated immediately outside, per our request. Our waiter was Myra and she was amazing! We ordered a bottle of Prosecco to share. However, the cocktails look pretty good and I'll be back to try them soon. We orders oysters, mahi mahi Tostada & the special of the day Grilled Octopus for our apps. They were all delicious but the Mahi Mahi Tostada is the winner for me! Mush try! For dinner my husband ordered the duck and loved it. I ordered the Chesapeake Caesar with grilled salmon, medium. Whew, the salmon was cooked PERFECTLY! Crispy, crunchy skin! But the salmon was extremely moist and cooked to perfection! We got there pretty late so my pictures aren't the best but it's ok because the food, atmosphere, and waitstaff were all amazing! It pains me to leave a bad review for a brand new restaurant, but I'm genuinely pretty taken aback by how poor the service was tonight. The hosts are definitely confused (I had to be put on hold twice when I tried to make a reservation for one on a Sunday evening... and it wasn't because customers were present). My reservation was for 5:15, but I wasn't sat until 5:40, and half the time waiting was spent standing next to my seat while someone retrieved cushions. In fact, the host said she would get cushions, but after 15 minutes of waiting, I had to chase someone down and remind them that I needed to be seated. After being seated, no one gave me a menu, water, or even addressed me (until I called a waiter over). Twice a waiter tried delivering the wrong order to me. All I ordered was a drink and app! To top it all off, I wanted to order dessert and another round, but had to ask two different people for a dessert menu, and no one followed up to ask if I wanted to order anything else. It's two hours post my reservation and I'm still waiting for my check for the two items I ordered. I understand that new establishments go through their tribulations when opening up a new restaurant. However, it's Sunday evening, the place isn't totally packed, and my entire time here I felt totally ignored. For what's it worth, the food was good and the drink was decent, but when I'm paying $15 for a cocktail, I expect decent service to go along with it. Perhaps I'll give this place a try in a few months, in hopes that they get their act together. But I won't be back anytime soon, there's plenty of cute places on the wharf that are more centrally located and offer far better service. read more

I absolutely adore this place for several reasons. 1) The ambiance - the indoor space and lighting is loving for an after work drink with friends/colleagues, a date night or a weekend brunch. My favorite is the outdoor seating area when the weather is nice. However, I love that they also have heated lamps, adorable fire places and Adirondack chairs too! 2) The beverages - there hasn't been a cocktail here that I haven't liked from the Point Punch to the Margaritas. They are made with love every time! 3) The sushi - it's just that darn good (and fresh) that I live for the moments to grab a bite down at The Point. My girls and coworkers also love their sushi too. The shrimp tempura and king salmon rolls are my favs. 4) The staff - incredibly kind and tentative service. Will inquire with you just enough. We had a office lunch meeting there in one of their private rooms. There was a set menu, where they graciously printed are Logo on our menus for added exclusivity. Emani the events manager was fantastic! Our first course choices were the point salad or The Point Clam Chowder. I got the Point Clam Chowder and boy was this chowder unique. With something called salmon jerky on top. And not just plain water crackers but Old Bay spiced water crackers added a touch of unique flavor. For the second course our choices were pan seared salmon oh, a grilled chicken breast trauma and a crab cake sandwich. When in Rome! Of course by the water I had the crab cake sandwich I subbed the french fries for a salad. The crab cake was moist and flavorful not too much breading and served with a nice remoulade on the side. This was a top-notch crab cake. Not the best I ever had but pretty good. The appetizer choices were the seasonal which was apple hand pies with a butter pecan ice cream and a caramel drizzle. Or a chocolate praline bar. I had the apple hand pies because they were seasonal and figured I could always come back and have the chocolate praline bar. The apple hand pies were delicious the caramel drizzle on the plate was so amazing it was not enough LOL I needed more! The chocolate praline bar was beautiful a work of art but a tiny little morsel of Heaven. Overall the experience was very special and I cannot wait to return. The view at The Point is *gorgeous* and super romantic. Management was great also, checking in on us a couple times....we weren't greeted at our table for a good 15 minutes after being sat, but after recognizing the mistake, our server was great. The calamari was really phenomenal--we LOVED the spicy peppers and the cooling basil. And we *devoured* the mahi mahi tostadas, which were super flavorful. The fries, hush puppies, crab doughnuts, and brussel sprouts were all fine--I'd eat them again but not the best things on the menu. A hidden gem! I've waited so long to visit this restaurant and I was not disappointed. I highly recommend making reservations before going. It's nestled on 2nd street SW, close to Yards Park. I went here for my pre-birthday (4.02) dinner and we had a seat outside near the water. I was so impressed with the seating and there was not one insect in sight. We were sat near the seated fire pit(beautiful). Our reservation was at 4pm so we arrived right after the brunch menu and ending the lunch hour. The knowledgeable and friendly waitress recommended the mussels as an appetizer...I was in heaven! The freshness of the mussels and the sauce it bathed in, was AMAZING. It was served with a piece of sour dough bread that had been wood grilled! Drinks were very original and delicious. I had the Watermelon Jalapeño Margarita. I ordered the short rib that was served on a bed of mashed potatoes and asparagus. The short rib was so tender, I didn't need a knife to cut it. The portion size was plentiful. My family and I went on a Saturday evening and although it took awhile for our server to greet and take our order it was still a good atmosphere with a beautiful view of the water. We started with oysters and the crab donuts which were all delicious but the real star of the show was the order of mussels we got for the table. SO FLAVORFUL and fresh! We enjoyed each other's company in a cool environment but unfortunately our server wasn't as attentive as she should've been and we had to frequently ask other servers for assistance. I stopped in here after walking around the area. It does have outside seating that views the river but it's really not that outstanding. I went around 4 and they did end up seating me. I do see the times on Yelp it mentions 5 is opening time but didn't know that then. Honestly I was just looking for a port in the storm from the heat while exploring the area. Since it was so hot I got the Caesar salad and added chicken. It was disappointing for the $20 I was spending. The chicken was like the chicken you could easily buy in the frozen meat section of a grocery store. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Oh, for those who are still wearing masks out and feel it's important for a restaurant, the staff was not wearing masks. The restaurant isn't far from the new soccer stadium. It's right on the water near the marina. There's a lot of street parking. It's in between Navy Yard and the SW waterfront/Wharf area. The restaurant is very big--there's private rooms, an indoor bar and and outdoor bar, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It's very nice! We had dinner on the outside patio. Our server Franny was so sweet. We tried multiple appetizers but would highly recommend the crab doughnuts and mahi tostadas. The smoked wings were my least favorite, I requested for them to be crispy and they were basically burnt :/. We didn't get around to ordering dinner because we were stuffed from all the apps and drinks. I had the Muddled Mission, the Blackberry Bourbon Basil from the cocktail menu and a French 75 for drinks--the Muddled Mission was very sweet, the BBB was sweet but had a nice kick. Definitely will be returning. I'm excited to see what their happy hour will be like since they currently aren't offering one because of COVID. read more

Tucked away in Buzzard Point, you'll find this cute and cozy seafood oasis by the water. I'm sure this will become a hit spot once the surrounding area develops more, but for now, you'll find it all by itself. The menu was limited for now, but was definitely a yummy hit. Oysters, meats, seafood, salad, sandwiches, soups, and yummy cocktails accompany the menu. Most of the dishes seem pretty healthy (salmon pictured) and portioned to not overfill you. Celebrated proposing here with my fiancé and her family. The appetizers were very good we got smoke wings, crab doughnuts, charbroiled oysters, curry mussels, the shrimp cocktail, and Japanese fried chicken for starters. Everyone loved the doughnuts and oysters but everything was very good. Everyone ordered different eat entrees but standouts were the beet salad, crab cakes, and fried rice. It was a dinner for nine people and service was very good and quick. The dinner was nice and didn't break the bank so I'm very pleased. read more
