Turkey Sub

Highly disappointed for a $20 sandwich that comes with more toppings than meat (2 pieces of thin turkey).... oh yeah they charge an extra $4 to add more turkey. Instead just go 5mins down the street to Mangialardo's, a real sandwich shop for the community.

Crunchy Boi

Stopped into Compliments Only to try the Crunchy Boi. The restaurant was pretty empty but I am glad I came before a lunch rush. The Crunchy Boi is served on a 10 inch roll with turkey, lettuce, onions, pickles, chips and garlic mayo. I thought the sandwich was pretty good. I would ask for light mayo if I got the sandwich again. The chips added the perfect crunch and texture to the sandwich.

Crunchy Boi (super dry)

This is a small, but efficient sandwich/sub shop on Barracks Row. I got the Crunchy Boi, which seems to be their most popular and is the sub I see most often on social media. In theory, the sub should be good. It has turkey, cheese, lettuce, pickles, and mayo. Unfortunately for me though, there was barely any mayo, so my sub was extremely dry. Especially because of the chips. I obviously didn't notice until I got home and unfortunately I didn't have any mayo at home at the time, so I was stuck eating a super dry sandwich. I imagine with a proper amount of mayo, this sub would taste much better. Two stars for the team. They were very friendly and helpful. I was confused about the ordering process and they happily helped me out.

Update: Crunchy Boi with Roast Beef is INSANE!!! Their roast beef is truly money in any sandwich but it goes perfectly with the chips and the garlic mayo. Also shoutout to the mound of perfectly crisp and dressed shredded lettuce.

We ordered pickup today and loved it! Our group tried the french dip, sicky wicky, marisa tomei eats free, and the crunchy boi, and enjoyed every bite. Pickup was quick and easy and each sandwich was so big, stuffed with fresh ingredients. I definitely look forward to having this as quick and easy workday lunches. I had the crunchy boi which I originally thought was too much lettuce but it surprisingly isn't overpowering - you can still taste the turkey, pickle, mayo and bread in every bite. I also tried the french dip and while it was a different take on a classic sandwich it was so yummy. Highly recommend for artisanal subs made fresh and fast in the neighborhood. The staff was also extremely helpful and friendly and the store looked clean.

Subbs by Carl, Mother Rucker's, A Litteri, Mangialardo's, I'm a big fan of some of D.C.'s long-time sandwich shops. That's why I'm a little suspect of newcomers, but Compliments Only humbled me. Here's why. 1) Food: There are 11 subs on the menu or you can build your own. Both my friend and I ordered the "Crunchy Boi" because it comes with potato chips inside, which adds more salt and a great crunch. The soft roll, garlic mayo, and shredded lettuce make the sub even more tasty. I devoured it despite how big it is. So good! 2) Drinks: They sell canned drinks like Coca-Cola, Just Ice Tea, and Dr. Brown soda. The Black Cherry Dr. Brown hit the spot. They also have a jug of water out for free. 3) Service: Going around noon on a June Wednesday, we were served right away. The staff make your sub right before your eyes. Within minutes, our sub was ready to eat. 4) Space: It's much larger than their OG location in Dupont Circle. There are several tables inside. 5) Neighborhood: It's along Barracks Row on Capitol Hill surrounded by other restaurants, bars, murals, and even a historic theater. Street parking is nearby despite it taking some time to find it certain times. It's also a short walk from the Eastern Market Metro.

Compliments Only is the best sub shop I've tried in a nice little minute. Today i had it for the second time, the first time was catered by my job. Both times I got the Crunchy Boi, and this a turkey cub but elevated. The garlic mayo and potato chips really take the sandwich to the next level! I will be back again and again

Seemed like a big waste of paper to wrap this up!

This was my first time getting a sandwich from compliments only. I got the crunchy boi and it was really tasty! I do wish it had more of a kick to it- possibly the addition of pepperoni or something similar would have made it perfect. The portion and pricing was very reasonable. I do feel as if they used way too much paper to wrap the sub, which is a minor critique but I like to keep our ecosystem in mind when it comes to waste.

We were looking for a place in the Capitol Hill neighborhood to get a good sandwich, and we found Compliments Only on Yelp. We are glad we did! Here is what we liked: - The sandwiches are made to order so they might take a few more minutes, but they're really fresh. - My wife and I split both the Meatball sandwich and the Hot Pants sandwich, and took them to go to eat back at our place. The size of the sandwiches are massive... We had at least a half or more left over. - Both sandwiches were so tasty, both the fillings and the bread. They really put places like Subway to shame. Bottom line: Really great sandwiches at a decent price for what you get... We're trying to figure out how we can make it back there before we leave town!

French dip sub

Great subs!!! 10/10 our group got most of the ones they had on the menu and we all loved them. I have the French dip and it was delicious. No seating inside but they had a few tables outside. Will definitely be back when we comeback to dc next time

Mmm, first timer at Compliments Only and I have nothing but compliments for them! LOVED this sando: Crunchy Boi turkey, provolone, potato chips, garlic mayo, pickles, onions, shredduce, oil & vin $15.00 Shredduce and chips on a sandwich elevated this bite to "next level" status for me (along with fresh ingredients all around!) I also tried a new sandwich that had a Thanksgiving vibe to it - Big Dipper - it was delicious - $18. The restaurant itself was clean and cool - lots of tattoo art as an homage to Barracks Row and bright colors. Service was good too - especially the sweet young lady who greeted us and made our sandwiches - love when people are nice, wish I had asked her name. Loved Compliments Only - 5 stars

Saw a TikTok and had to try it. My husband stopped by to pick up dinner on a Friday. He said the customer service was great. I ordered the Crunchy Boi to go and they let him order the toppings on the side to assemble at home. I hate a soggy sub . Compliments Only was 5/5 for us and was worth the hype. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his sub as well. The Berger cookies were a bit too rich for my liking but you may like them. If you are in the area I definitely recommend trying Compliments Only.

Turkey Big Dipper

Long time sub/hoagie eater and this is one of my favorite sub places in DC! This location is consistently goood just like the NW location. We loveeeee the crunchy boi of course. It's so simple yet so good! I would've given 5 stars but I went out on a limb around the holidays and tried the turkey dip and it was not good at all. Dare I say one of the worst renditions of that sandwich I've had. The inside is cute and straight forward. I like that they have the complimentary water already available for self service. The staff is always nice!

Even though we got our drinks and food to go, I couldn't help but admire the cute ceramics and overall aesthetic of the space. I ordered the lavender latte, which was good but didn't completely wow me. My husband and I also shared the bread pudding, and that was definitely the highlight. He gave it a 9/10, and I'd have to agree, it was delicious and the perfect treat to enjoy while walking around the pier. One thing to note is that prices are definitely on the higher side. I noticed the avocado toast was around $18, and while it looked nice, it didn't seem particularly special for the price. Overall, a very cute café with a great atmosphere and an excellent bread pudding. A lovely stop while visiting the Wharf.

Cause | Vibes | Outdoor Space…read more Cause - The sticker shock is real when you first see the prices. However, part of what you're paying for supports programs that provide coffee to people experiencing homelessness, while another portion goes toward local causes in DC. In that sense, your extra dollars are helping fund meaningful work in the community. Vibes - This place has great energy. There is a sizable indoor seating area along with a comfortable outdoor section. You'll see a mix of people catching up with friends, working remotely, or simply enjoying a cup of coffee. The overall atmosphere feels welcoming, open, and community-oriented. Outdoor Space - This is probably the highlight, especially on a nice summer day. It's an ideal spot for people-watching, soaking up some sunshine, and enjoying the neighborhood atmosphere. If the weather is nice, grab a seat outside and stay awhile. Pro Tip: Parking is limited, so plan accordingly or consider walking if you're nearby. Pro Tip: Ask the staff for their favorite drink recommendations. Definitely glad we stopped in. If ever in the area, I will certainly be back.

The restaurant is super cute, with a fun cafe vibe, and it's an easy walk from the waterfront. We ordered the Colada Trio, which came with empanadas, cauliflower sliders, and yuca fries. Everything was delicious, and it came with three different sauces that were honestly all so good. I could've eaten those sauces with everything. We also ordered the Platanachos (plantain nachos), which were flavorful and such a fun twist on traditional nachos. They accidentally forgot the cauliflower and mushroom topping, but as soon as I mentioned it, they brought it out right away along with extra sauce. Mistakes happen, but what matters is how a place handles them, and they were incredibly accommodating, which I really appreciated. It was pretty busy when we visited, and I noticed who I believe was the manager or owner helping clean tables and checking on guests. I always love seeing that kind of hands-on involvement. Great food, friendly service, and an awesome location if you're exploring the Wharf. I'd definitely recommend stopping by!

I don't typically go for counter service or QR code service restaurants, but stopped in for a quick bite before a concert at the Anthem. The Cuban sandwich is legit and very tasty with tender pork, soft fresh bread with a crunchy crust, and great pickles. And the stewed plantains were perfectly tender with a caramel like sweetness. Probably the nicest surprise was their reasonably priced cocktails that have a Cuban flair. The happy hour options are very tasty.
