Coffin and old fashioned
Karlo G.

The Pinebox serves some decent cocktails, pizzas, and brews in a space full of history and macabre charm. The history of the building dates back to the 1920s when it was a mortuary. One of their claim to fame is Bruce Lee. His funeral service was held in this exact building. Now, the space has transformed into a gastropub perfect for group get togethers. This gastropub offers 4 seating areas, the loft, main dining, bar top, and outdoor with picnic tables. My favorite spot is the loft area overlooking the whole Pinebox. The main dining area has booths and tables perfect for large groups. The Pinebox is known for their pizzas. I do recommend their meat lover pizza, cheese, and pepperoni. For drinks, they do carry a large amount of beers on tap. They also have ciders, wines, and liquors. Their cocktail list, though small, is interesting with their eerie elegant names. I stuck with my standard drinks of old fashioned and manhattan. Both were properly made. This space can get busy and orders tend to take longer. Despite the wait, the servers have always been great.

We came here after our dinner nearby for drinks with friends. There was plenty of open seating inside and an outdoor patio that was quite empty on a Thursday night. The bartender was friendly and patient with me as it took me awhile to decide what I wanted to drink. Looks like a chill bar to hang out in with cool decor.

Wow, we are so glad we came here. The pizza was absolutely delicious and the ambience is exactly what you're looking for while visiting Seattle. It has history, beautiful windows again. The pizza is delicious and my friends and I had a great time. Also, they were playing awesome music and we were singing and dancing the entire time at our table!

Interesting bar with an interesting vibe. A bar in a former funeral home. The booths were a bit hard to get in and out of but I understood the ambiance they were going for here. Just came for drinks and not the pizza (we already ate). Fun fact Bruce Lee's funeral was at the funeral home where the bar is now.

We had a corporate event here, an unassuming classic building that opens into a dive bar like ambience with lots of beer/ciders and some cocktail options. This place is mostly American food, with a nice happy hour and a decent selection of pizza and other American fare. We booked the mezzanine where we had a dedicated section of the restaurant with a nice view of the whole restaurant. I personally got a few drinks and also tried some of the pizza here such as the pepperoni, special (spicy pepperoni), and meat lover. The pizza is cooked decently, thin crust, but it was a lot heavier and heartier than the pizza I am usually used to. The crust is good but the flavor is a little off. We also got the wings which were decent, a bit filling. The cocktails here were strong and inexpensive. There were some on par with nicer restaurant prices ($17) the blueberry sour which was okay, but there were some like the adult capri-sun that had a fun presentation and inexpensive ($11) and strong and that was a fun drink that I see myself ordering again! Overall, I love the vibe of the place but the food is a bit underwhelming. If I come back, it will mostly be for the drinks.

Witch's Brew and Pumpkin Espresso Martini (Halloween special drinks)

Great drinks! We were recently there around Halloween, and they had a couple of drink specials -- the Witch's Brew, which was a tequila-based drink served in a little cauldron, complete with some vapor and a blinking LED hidden in the drink; and a Pumpkin Espresso Martini, with a cool spider made from cocoa powder on sprinkled on the foam. Both were delicious and really stiff! Bartenders were cool and friendly. As most people know, the venue is a former funeral home, and is where Bruce Lee had his memorial service. I also had some of their pizza, which was quite good. Pepperoni was really tasty! If you're looking for a landmark bar in Seattle, this should definitely be on your list.

Nightmare before Christmas vibes and lots of nostalgia. Very unique overall. Would recommend

My friends and I visited Pine Box on a Tuesday night for a casual hangout. The space is great--plenty of room, a heated patio that's dog-friendly even in winter, and friendly staff. The drinks were solid, and the overall atmosphere was inviting. However, the food service was unexpectedly slow. The bar seemed moderately busy, but we waited ~25 minutes for our big pretzels and then a full hour for nachos that, unfortunately, weren't very memorable. What made it frustrating was watching several personal pizzas come out before our much simpler order. I'm not sure what was happening in the kitchen, but the pacing felt off. That said, the staff was kind but frazzled and I understand that some nights just run slower than expected. If you're coming for drinks and a laid-back atmosphere, it's a solid choice! But maybe skip the food.

The history alone on this place will draw you in. Luckily, they also have the drinks and the food to back everything else up. The pizzas were very good and the drinks were quite solid. The service was good and quick. The ambience is definitely a chill Gastropub kind of vibe. Do not forget to take a picture of yourself inside the coffin!

I can't comment on the food but the gigantic cookie wasn't bad, nothing special but big. And they do have a large beer selection in draught.

As a cider fan, I was especially happy to see a solid variety of options. Although I had a frustrating experience with the kitchen, but I'd still come back. It was an especially hectic day with multiple events and a soccer game, so it seemed like everyone arrived at once. I ended up waiting about an hour for my food, which was disappointing. That said, the staff handled the situation really well, there was consistent communication, and they took the time to engage with us, which I appreciated. Still, the kitchen delays and order issues shouldn't be overlooked. On the bright side, the drinks were excellent and reasonably priced. They also have a great selection of games, which I'm looking forward to trying next time. The location is another plus, just a few minutes' walk from the T-Link, making it very convenient.

Still decent, just not something I'd rave about. The mini golf is definitely the highlight. It's really cute how the course spells out "SEATTLE," and I loved the little Space Needle to end the last of the mini golf holes. That said, there are only 9 holes and they're pretty small, so it goes by quickly. Drinks are all on tap and feature local/Washington breweries, which I really appreciated. I love supporting local! We came during their February deal and it was such a great value -- $45 for a pizza, two pint glasses to take home, two drinks, and unlimited games. Honestly, that made the experience feel totally worth it. Duffleboard was fun, though it looked a little outdated. They also had cornhole and a ping pong table, which made it feel like like there variety of things to do. Loved the vibes/ambiance (fun art and murals) and music. Overall, a fun spot for a casual hangout -- especially if you catch one of their deals!

All the…read moreoutdoor tables were full when we arrived at 6, so we put our name on the list for inside and waited about 30 minutes. The oysters were the main draw for me, and they were totally worth the visit. Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!

They gave us these post cards to write down our individual drinks. FYI - this place requires using your smart phone to scan a QR code for the menu. We ordered 2 apps (salmon dip with pita chips & chips and cheese dip) I ordered fish and chips. Buddy got the meat loaf. Our beer showed up quick. Waiter always checked on us often. Our apps showed up and they were both delicious. Then 5 minutes later our main dish orders showed up. Wasn't too happy with that because we wasted time to taste our beers and snack on the apps. They need to work on their timing. Need at least 10 minutes in between the beer and apps. The food overall is admittedly top notch. Fish and chips FRESH! The fish was juicy and the fried crust was perfection. Pieces were large. They will ask if you want 3 or 4. 3 is enough. If they can work on timing the drinks and food this place would be a 5 out 5, but will deduct a star because of that. The overall vibe of the place was nice. Huge layout with wooden picnic style tables. Outdoor tables if you're lucky to get one. Large tanks to brew beer surrounding the room and a merch table.
