Not bad, depending on what you order. The cooks do not like substitutes! The veggie burger is absolutely awful! Just weird! I don't understand why restaurants try to make their own burger patties instead of just buying from a brand that people like. It was obvious the chefs decided to let their creative juices flow with their veggie patty and it was inedible! They also make all their dressings homemade which makes sense since the ranch was awful , the blue cheese was bland too! (Or so my dinner companion said) they also said the steak and mash potatoes were very good but the back Daniels sauce is so filled with whisky it almost ruined the steak, and their French fries are frozen and you can definitely tell! So if you are looking for a 35$ steak this is your place but if your interested in any form of vegetarian food, burgers (meat or veggie) or salad this is not the place for you. I think its awful that you called my daughter and her husband 15 minutes before their reservation to say you can't accommodate them with the baby stroller. Jessica and I were there last week and the stroller was no problem whatsoever. Her and I eat there quite often but not anymore. You should be ashamed of yourselves, as they are new parents and don't get to get out all that often, and you ruined their evening. They deserve a call back and a dinner on you for that behavior. The hubmister and I were passing through the city of bend and needed a place to eat for date night! Stopped at The Phoenix and my oh my are we glad we did! The waiters were so friendly and kind, the food was absolutely divine. Get the ginger soy glazed salmon. TO DIE FOR! We sat in the lounge, ordered potato skins for an appetizer, I ordered a delicious raspberry salad with goat cheese and my hubby got the halibut fish and chips. The Cajun fries were pretty heavily seasoned, and the breading on the fish was thick, other than that we liked it. read more

SERVICE - We were seated promptly by a very friendly young lady. All expectations for a lovely evening ended there. The waiter was very demanding for our attention and hovered constantly throughout the entire meal, even trying to remove plates while we were still eating. And, there were numerous empty tables, so I don't know what the rush was. FOOD - The food was unforgivable. It is also all ala carte, so the expense happens quickly. -I started with Crab Bisque, which was more of a cheese sauce with a 2" piece of crab in the bottom. For my entree, I had the Veal Scallopini. I got a greasy, fried to crispy, Veal Cutlet floating in a pool of some tasteless sauce with capers in it. It was served with instant mashed potatoes (everything is served with instant mashed potatoes) with dried vegetables sprinkled on top and a frozen vegetable medley. -My partner started with a salad, which was of coffee shop fare and appearance. The dressing was bottled Blue Cheese and marginal. His choice was the Halibut Special served with the instant mashed potatoes. The waiter went on and on about the dish being the only good thing served in the restaurant. It was marginal, at best. But, it may be the only good thing. -Our food arrived, served by the bus boy, mildly warm. The only time the waiter wasn't hovering was when our food needed to be served. He timed it poorly, as well, and served it just moments after we received our soup and salad. -The food was marginal at best and expensive at worst. ATMOSPHERE - Even though the restaurant was only about half full, it is VERY LOUD. It is not a place to go to be able to talk to people with you. Children were running about. No one seemed to be in charge of anything. Oh, that Birthday Celebration that they assured me they would have a slice of cake served for -- it never happened. It was a truly disappointing experience. Went to the Phoenix the other night for dinner with a coupon from the Smart Shopper , food was good and portions were decent if you order off of the sandwich menu . I think you can leave the coupon from the Smart Shopper at home ( it is a joke ) unless you plan on ordering a beverage because by the time you purchase the 2 beverages required by the coupon which was $5.50 ( soft drinks) you only save .50 cents off the meal because in our case the discount came to $6.00 dollars off , Izzys restaurant tried this game also, they are out of business in Bend now , if you are going to put a coupon out there don't put requirements on it , give a true discount , there is so much profit from soft drinks . read more

This is one classy place. We got seated right away for 6 people. Our server Jared was professional and there when we needed him. We had the ahi and spinach and artichoke apps, fantastic! My plate was exquisite. I almost didn't want to eat it, it was so beautiful. The child menu pizza was more than enough and fresh, not a yucky small, frozen like thing! Everyone seemed to enjoy their dinner completely. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and food. After a long, hard day, it was what we needed. read more

Based on yelp reviews, probably would not have gone. Some friends invited us out, so why not? It was crowded on a Friday night but we got a table right away. I was a bit apprehensive at the sign that said "something for everyone", but the menu did have a very good selection, including a couple of specials. They had a good selections of local beers on tap and a nice wine list. Our table got two of the scallop specials, one marinated pork steak, and one baby back ribs. All were great dishes, respectable amounts of food, very nice presentation, and nice matches of the vegetable and potato dishes to the food type. Love the Chicken Marsala and the Raspberry Salad with Goat Cheese. The service is amazing, the Phoenix is very clean. You can watch the chefs and the kitchen help. Very relaxing and great prices. The full bar is a plus when you want to sit with friends and watch a football game. Also they paid special attention to my Mom which is elderly and does not get around quickly. My flat iron steak was absolutely delicious. The sauce that was served on the side was good and interesting, but I didn't use much of it because the flavor was strong. The meat was So good, I didn't want to detract from its flavour. My husband's chicken masala was also quite good. I know this because he shared a bite with me and dubbed it "quite good". Another plus was that my teenage children could both find something they liked too. One son had the Phoenix burger and said it was"really good; better than other places. My other son thought the fries were good, but not as good as McDonald's. We all loved the bread. read more

Excellent food, good variety on the menu. A bit of a wait for seating at dinner because it's popular. The staff was outstanding! We ate there two days in a row and despite the crowds the manager, Chris, remembered our names and came by the table to talk. Our servers, Ashley and Lili were both personable and attentive. You can't ask for much more in a dining experience than great food off a varied menu with a staff that treated you like a valued customer, in a pleasant dining environment with reasonable prices. This is our go to restaurant. The food is consistently good and the atmosphere friendly. Everyone we have taken there has been pleased. They have a good selection of draft beers (a must for Central Oregon), wines (though neither of us are wine drinkers), and seasonal drink menu. We have eaten both in the restaurant and bar. Our personal favorites are their soups, prime rib, fish & chips, salads and meatloaf. read more

My husband and I ate dinner here for the first time last night. We ordered simple salads which were decent. However, we sat in the bar and noticed the bartender violated hygiene standards on two separate occasions. Both involved finger sucking then serving without washing his hands. First offense was him dipping his finger into unknown refrigerated tub of substance then sucking it off his finger(and putting it back into the fridge) and second was dipping his finger into a prepared cocktail to lick off misplaced whip cream. Disgusting!!! The bartender's attitude was sour and could care less about customers. I was not a member of yelp previously, but this experience prompted me to join and share. I dined here last night for the first time, and I have to say I was very impressed and slightly disappointed that I hadn't dined sooner! It was a great experience from beginning to end. I made a reservation with OpenTable, and my table was ready when I got there. I had two small children with me, and they both loved the food, crayons, and atmosphere. Decent food but terrible service. Waitress let our first round of beers sit out so long the bartender brought them over and they were flat by then. Never once got an apology, even after she forgot to put in the order for one of the entrees. When we told her the service was bad, she told us we weren't being nice. My husband,step kids and I were coming to eat here frequently until tonight. The food is always mediocre but there is always choices of food for adults and the kids...well tonight we went in after my step-sons band concert at 8:06..apparently they won't seat you after 8 Sunday's,Monday's and Tuesday's. Well..first maybe say that when you google the hours and second give me a break! We are there just about once a week and you REALLY are going to refuse us service 6 minutes after your last seating. Turns out the woman refusing to seat us was the general manager..she should know better. BAD customer service and we will never go back. I will also tell ever client who asks me where to eat not to go there. There are WAY better restaurants in town to spend our money and time at.--after reading the general managers response you clearly don't get it. We didn't want the bar menu...it was 6 min after 8...we have been seated dozens of times shortly after 8 without limitations..bad customer service. Period. read more

My family & I have been here a few times, & have always had great food & great service. We manage a local business here in town, & we recommend this restaurant to our guests on a regular basis. Last night was the exception though. Not in food, it was great as always...but in service. Lauretta was our waitress, & we were not impressed at all with her service. From the time we sat down & until we had to ask for our check, we felt as if we were an inconvenience to her. We know ourselves, being in the service industry, that anyone can have an "off day', but we witnessed her at other tables, & it seemed as if we were not the only ones with issues. When she took our order she seemed rushed, & tried to hurry us along. We had questions about sauces & a steak marinade, & this obviously annoyed her. She then walked away without taking our drink order. I had to "flag her down" to order beverages, & she still would not come back to the table to ask what each of us wanted. Asked her for bread & she stated "when it gets out of the oven" as she rushed passed the table. Never could get a refill on the bread, & yes we know it costs extra, as she explained, but it still would have been nice to have it brought to the table after we ordered it...never happened. She absolutely made sure to give us the eye roll when we asked for soda refills. She brought 2 of our refills the wrong types of soda, never corrected her mistake either. My son asked her about the "today special" for dessert & she responded "we are out of it". He asked "what was the dessert?' & she responded very snappily "I said we are out of it!" Not sure if we will be back anytime soon. Definitely will not be referring anyone anymore as far as for the service. read more

Recently a work group celebrated a going away party in the Phoenix back room area. Initially I was very impressed with how easy it was to set everything up. We needed to spend a minimum $600 dollars in food and drink for the room and I was surprised when we were limited to 2 salads, 3 dinner options and 3 dessert options as our menu options. Then we were told our only steak option would be cooked to medium, no one was allowed to have their meat any other way, even though the waitressed had asked people specifically how they wanted their meat cooked. With 30 people to attend to, this poor waitress was the only one helping us. She did a great job and its not her fault she had to do it alone, but it would have been nice to have someone else there to help her. Management should have done a better job and when you are dropping over $700 in dinner there is an expectation that people have. We do a lot of business/education dinners and are always looking for a local place to support. I cannot say we will be planning any dinners here in the near future. read more

I was saddened when I recently had a poor experience at the Phoenix. A friend and I decided to stop by for happy hour in the middle of the week. When we walked in the bar was not full nor empty, seemed like a bunch of regulars. Our waitress took 10 minutes to see if we wanted anything to drink. I was about to order food when she stomped away. Finally she brought us our drinks then again stomped away before I could order. 15 minutes later she finally came back to order pooling about 25 before I was able to order food. Always read the menu carefully to make sure there's no avocado plates before ordering because I'm highly allergic. I ordered the food that said they had a cilantro lime dressing and no avocado. A long time later my food came and sadly there was avocado on the to as. Again it be waitress stomped off quickly before I could say anything she never asked how my food was completely ignored us. I finally put my credit card on the table to just pay to grab that are you done and promptly check this out didn't ask if we needed a box despite the fact that 2 tacos were sitting on her table untouched. She also didn't ask her if it was okay again despite two tacos untouched. I was appalled by this service and will not be returning for happy hour again. read more
