All amazing! Timing and tempo could have been better. My meal came out around 5-10 minutes after my dates meal. His was cold by the time mine came. We were done with our meals for quite a while before the server checked on us about dessert. We were told we only had 3 minutes to order dessert which was a bit off putting considering we had been ready to order at least 15 minutes prior. We got our dessert shortly before 10, and at 10:02 the house lights came on glaringly bright - aka time to get out. We hadn't even gotten our check yet. Overall the back end of the night felt rushed which put a damper on the experience. I would come back maybe during social hour or earlier in the day.

The…read moreThai basil leaves were absolutely ginormous, and they gave us plenty of them alongside very fresh limes, which I appreciated. The bowl itself came loaded with meat--they definitely weren't skimping to save money here. The meat-to-noodle ratio felt great, and every bite actually had substance instead of leaving me fishing around for toppings. As for the broth, I landed somewhere in the middle. It wasn't quite as clear or light as I personally prefer, leaning toward a fattier, milkier undertone that almost reminded me of a Vietnamese pho take on tonkotsu. The flavor itself was undeniably very good, but the richness may have been a bit too much for me personally. One way I usually judge how much I love a pho broth is whether I want to sip the bowl down to the very end, and this one wasn't quite light enough for me to want to do that. I've had richer and deeper pho flavors elsewhere, but I still appreciated the flavor profile here and could absolutely see why this place is so popular. It feels hearty, comforting, and satisfying in a way that clearly resonates with many people. Despite how packed the restaurant was, the atmosphere ended up being surprisingly pleasant. Service moved very quickly, which honestly impressed me given how busy everything felt. Even with the crowd, I didn't dislike the spacing or setup at all--the restaurant still felt comfortable, and the sound of people enjoying their food all around added to the lively, welcoming energy rather than making it feel overwhelming. Overall, Pho Phong Lưu ended up being one of those places where I completely understood the hype, even if it didn't become my personal favorite pho spot. While the broth leaned richer than my preference, I still enjoyed the experience and definitely look forward to trying other dishes next time.

First, they asked me if I could change my table because im only by myself and the table I was seating at was for table 4. And I said yes, I thought it was cool not a big deal. Second scenario was the male server put other people's orders in my table while im eating my Pho without saying any word, no excuse or some and I thought that was a little rude. Third scenario was the other male walk by with a payment card reader and he told me politely for a payment while IM STILL EATING tho he told me whenever im ready and finished so he left that payment reader on my table and left. Fourth scenario was the lady walk by and she told me "pay pay" I thought that was hilarious and I totally understood because I know there is a little culture barrier I wanna say. So yeah that was my experience. First experience of eating pho in Austin. Everytime I eat outside I give atleast 15% to 20% of tip sometimes more and when I say everytime its everytime but that time I did not Tip at all. I was embarrassed of doing that but I just couldn't give a tip. I think you all should consider giving customers a great experience with professionalism. The food was good im not gonna lie but i think yall pressured of the idea that we must work fast paced and don't let people wait too long outside. When people are eating let them have their time and give them comfort and quality service. I don't understand why you have to rush them while eating. People like me waited outside too and I don't wanna feel rushed while eating. Very unprofessional but cheers

You can't get any better than that. The whole meal was delicious! The vegetables were so crisp and cooked to perfection. I didn't get a soup spoon to drink the broth, but had to drink it like cereal from a bowl. The tofu was tasty as well. Very yummy. But the pho. First, they only have one kind on the menu. The broth is pretty uninspiring and doesn't have much of a Vietnamese flavor profile to me. The noodles also seemed like pretty obvious dried boxed noodles... and not good ones. They stayed weirdly translucent and plasticky, like they never fully hydrated. They're not silky and opaque the way pho noodles should be. We also got the calamari appetizer this time. It was way too salty and weirdly fishy. We couldn't tell if the fishiness was coming from the squid itself or from some fish sauce seasoning, but either way it was too aggressive. And I'm not normally shy about fish sauce. Service was nice enough, and they do have a good beer selection. But after two visits and two disappointing meals, I think we're done.

But it also has egg and scallions and pate; overall the combo is satisfying. Separate from takeout, we decided to go for an early dinner. Their Crab Vermicelli Stir Fry is surprisingly sweet, with sweetness as a prominent flavor. It features plenty of crab bits. I also grabbed a Skillet Combo. It came with two runny side up eggs, pate, two types of cured pork, beef gravy, and a handful of cilantro. The baguette came on the side, as did the mixed salad of lettuce and tomato. The salad had some dried shrimp, fish sauce, and a slightly sweet dressing. The restaurant itself is located in the Chinatown Center on N Lamar. It's a small corner shop. Lots of mirrors and glass. The staff are friendly enough. Unfortunately, they've closed, and it looks like another restaurant will be opening up in its place. The situation leaves me unsure about where to go to satisfy savory sticky rice cravings.

The meat tasted like teriyaki beef jerky which I was fine with. The portions were pretty big too, so I had a good amount of leftovers to take home. We ordered the lemongrass stir fry vermicelli (lemongrass stir-fry on top of vermicelli bowls filled with fresh herbs, shredded lettuce, cucumber, pickled carrots, and crushed peanuts. The bu luc lac was decent and hubby enjoyed his dish.
