When you see a business that sits on Yelp with five shiny stars, do you ever question it? Well, if we use The PEST Group as the example, you should never question it as they have earned each and every one of those glowing reviews, I'm sure of it. Let's be honest, who wants to hire a pest control company? I'll wait. I'll keep waiting. Yep, the answer is: nobody. I've taken on a new role over the last 8 months and while the title may sound prestigious or even glamorous, "landlord" comes with quite a few struggles and unexpected phone calls. Thankfully the calls are mostly infrequent but when they do come through I want to be the best landlord that I can be, so that means staying on top of the little things. In this case my tenant heard a "noise" and I felt that it was important to investigate. This was a multi-step process - I'll clarify. 1. I searched "pest control" on Yelp 2. I found the businesses that are using the Request A Quote feature (I love it) 3. I vetted the incoming replies by reading reviews, promptness of reply, availability, and ability to communicate clearly and politely. 4. I made my decision. Spoiler alert, The PEST Group won in every category and working with Betty both before and after the service has been nothing short of impressive. The scheduling was simple, the price was great, and Betty has been very flexible with me... I won't elaborate on that one, but she has. As we close out our transaction, which included a visit to investigate/treat along with a follow-up, I can't be any more satisfied than I am with The PEST Group. On Tuesday, May 28-29, I had The PEST Group to tent my home. These men arrived on time and greeted me with respect and kindness. Joseph, who I believe was the lead, explained the purpose of tenting and what I could expect after the tenting had been completed. Joseph and his crew were professionals, taking care to remove items that I had not, and making sure to be respectful of my property. My house was tented as if it were a "gift wrapped" package; it was neat from the top to the bottom. Absolutely superb workmanship: there is definitely a skill to tent a house. Rocks and solar lights had to be removed from areas close to the tent. Afterward, those rocks and solar lights were replaced in a manner that caused me to believe that this crew "cared" about their job and their reputation was on the line. I valued Joseph's insight in explaining how the gases that were going to be pumped into my house would eradicate the termite infestation. This was a hard-working team, especially an elderly gentleman who wasted no time in setting things up and working on the actual tenting. Finally, the cost associated with this tenting met my budget, and I was grateful that this sub-contracted company had been selected to complete the job. Miss Betty was fast to respond to my inquiries and answered all my questions and concerns promptly, and one can tell she is very professional. I had some concerns regarding a possible carpet beetle or clothes moth infestation. With the warmer weather there have been more creepy crawlies in general so I think that added to my anxiety. I reached out via a message through Angi (which obviously did get me in touch with a service provider but is now flooding my inbox with junk so hopefully I unsubscribed from that). Anyway, I received a call from a very nice woman within the hour of submitting that message who left a voicemail and when I returned her call, she was ready to have someone out the very next day. I actually said it could wait so would another time work and yes, I was accommodated with that no problem. Additionally, I received two follow up calls reminding me of the scheduled appointment and then the day of when they were on the way. I am so horrible with names but I believe that I spoke with Betty. I am so sorry if that is not correct. It doesn't change the fact that she was professional and also extremely nice. Once again, I am just downright terrible with names but the service professional that came out today did a very thorough inspection, respected my concerns, and patiently let me explain and show him some things around the apartment. He also left me some literature for reference which reiterated basically what he told me. At this time, everything is looking good (other than our carpet that is apparently quite dirty despite being professionally cleaned a month ago and me vacuuming daily). All of this was done at no charge! I appreciate that so tremendously! I did contact a few other pest control companies that either wanted to sign me up immediately for some plan or wanted to charge for the inspection if nothing was found. I get it, I took up someone's time and it turned out that I am not in need of their services so they didn't make any money. However, should I find myself in need of anything pest related, this is my first call. I will also gladly pass along a personal recommendation should that opportunity ever arise. Terminix subbed out my fumigation to The Pest Group. The team showed up at 3pm to tent my 2 story house and detached garage. They finished in the dark, i have 18 solar panels on my metal roof and was worried they would be damaged. 2 days later while removing the tent, I noticed the damaged my rain gutters, broke a rail on my glass deck panel, broke a security light and left my property litter with small rocks from a previous job. I asked before hand that Terminix would perform the job and was assured they would be.... Not happy! read more

The PEST group was subcontracted by Terminix to tent our one story home last week. Their work was sloppy and reckless. Not only were several gutters damaged (that sadly, had only been installed a few weeks ago), their truck pulled in way to close and ended up damaging the carport and someone stepped on a brand new vent on the roof. Hopefully I can figure out how to post photos of the damage that was done. I wouldn't use this company directly and if you use Terminix, ask them to not sub out to them as well. read more

Used Yelp to find a monthly pest service for summer. Mostly interested in targeting spiders, fleas, mosquitos with exterior treatment service. Betty "the owner" replied to me on Yelp and set me up with an appointment date to begin my new service. We agreed on March 15th in the AM. On March 15th in the AM I received a call from the pest group informing me that my service provider "called out sick" and that my service will not be done, however, they would check their schedule and get me on the board for another date. I have since then NEVER heard from the pest group. I have placed over a dozen calls, emails, Yelp messages and more to the company and Betty, and to my surprise no return call, email or any communication. Giving 2 stars because maybe they might get rid of pest but I'll never know because -100 stars for their very poor, unprofessional customer service. read more

I was extremely impressed with PEST group and Chris, who came out to my house for a termite inspection. He was extremely knowledgeable and did a thorough evaluation of my house. He reviewed attic, outside around the house, crawl space under the house, and my living room floor that had dry wood termite damage. With his experience and the history of the house and past treatments, he indicated I was likely seeing old damage and there was no need to treat anything. What an honest thing to do! I was very pleased to have the team that fumigated my house at 2157 Westland Ave., San Diego They were very careful with everything. Nothing was damaged or missing. I was informed before they arrived. I was informed when the house was ready to re-enter. I especially appreciated their early arrival on Wednesday to bring everything down. Very polite and honest business! We thought we had termite problem when saw some droppings against the wall and panicked. Pest group was the first business replied to our request and scheduled an Inspector on the same day. Upon arrival, inspector examined the site and informed us that this is rather cricket dropping and no need for treatment but applied some spray anyway. He also walked around the house to make sure we don't have any problems elsewhere. We were impressed by his knowledge, diligence, and honesty! The team of technicians (Edgar, David, Rogelio) did a great job with the tenting process. On time for both setup and tear down, explained the process, diligent in making sure the house was properly prepared, and made sure everything was satisfactory upon completion. The only negative was the logistics with Terminix. The tenting was purchased via Terminix and numerous issues with scheduling confusion between Terminix and Pest Group, prep instructions and materials came at last minute, and wasn't provided clear instruction that I had to schedule the gas service restoration with SDGE. Not sure if this was a Terminix problem or Pest Group problem, but made the process more stressful than needed. Overall, would use them again but just be more proactive on confirming details ahead of time. read more
