We had a little hiccup with the treatment that was suppose to be done at our home. We were told that the wood being replaced would also have a preventative treatment added. When the workers were done they informed me they don't do that process(even though I got charge for it and was in our contract). Called the office for clarification and Brooke assured me that they do not do that process. So I asked her the breakdown of my contract and what I was being charged for. She then realized that it was part of my project and lied about it already being done. (Even though the workers told me they did NOT treat the new wood). I reached out to James(the person who did my estimate), he called to confirm with the workers and sent them out the next business day! Thank you James for your great service and professionalism since day one! And getting to the bottom of my problem! *I also had to close all my windows and door because one of the workers kept cussing while my children were doing virtual learning at home. read more

I had termites return a few months after fumigation. I tried contacting Best Rate to have them come out but every time someone said they would send someone, no one came or contacted me. Steve reached out to me and basically owned up to their mistake and apologized. This normally doesn't happen and most businesses try to deflect the blame but these guys were really honest and good people. Frank came out as soon as he could and did a thorough inspection of my property and was very informative. Super nice guy. I am very satisfied with their work and would def recommend them. read more

We had a honey bee hive way up at the top of a tree in our front yard. Spencer came out to look at the task I hand. He informed me that it was a dangerous job and would require more than a simple job with just a ladder. He looked into renting a boom lift. It just was too expensive for us. I'm sure if he could have reached the hive he would have been able to safely remove it and relocate them to a property they owned in the mountains. Spencer was very personable and professional. Thanks for trying! read more

I'd say go ahead and hire this company if you want to continue to deal with ants after their services. Even better, hire this company if you're willing to release them from liability for theft and damage only to have your property damaged and personal items stolen. This company shouldn't even be in business. Update* Laughable - equating the release forms for a HOME to parking a car in a parking lot. This just goes to show you the ineptitude of this company. Take your business elsewhere if you value your home. read more

James came out today to check on some wood flooring that had been eaten by termites - I had it tented last year but a company that I won't name but let's just say it was a negative experience. So I wasn't sure if they ever checked on the termites situation in my crawl space (are they subterranean?). He went under the house and checked if the damage was needed repair, confirmed they were drywood and they were indeed gone. Which was a relief for me. I just need to get that wooden flooring repaired. They didn't charge me though I was ready to pay for the inspection work he did do. If I need pest control, I will definitely call them in the future. James and the company seem really honest and reliable. read more

We knew we had termites, everyone has termites. It had been at least 10 years since the last tenting, so we started checking services. These folks were easy to schedule with and responsive. Frank came out and did the inspection, made a recommendation to tent and do some subterranean termite spot treatment. Left the house for two nights and the job was done. Very impressed with the crew, who setup and took down the tenting with minimal effect on building and landscaping. Assuming the termites were devastated, very satisfied.Would recommend. read more

Called about subterranean termites. I would give them 5 stars, the estimate was scheduled within days of calling, the work was completed within days of the estimate, and the subterranean termites are gone. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is that they drilled between the tongue and groove of the wood planks in my floor which resulted in damage to 8 planks for the four holes drilled. I knew four holes would be drilled but why on the seams where the planks were tongue and groove? Needless damage to the floor in my estimate. It is impossible to patch. I would like to post a picture of it. read more

I learned the hard way that selecting a good termite company all comes down to who their subcontractor is that does the actual tenting. Frank Cleary of Wild West Pest Control is an honest man who knows all about termite mitigation. His subcontractor for the tenting was The Fume Team and they were fantastic! They respected my home and the damage to the plants on the outside was minimal. Frank did an excellent job of walking me through the process step by step and even hand delivered additional bags to me the weekend before my tenting. I had Best-Rate come to my house the second week in August to redo our front balcony that was old and damaged by termites and water damage. I appreciated Don Scouten's clear estimate and the work done by the team of Daniel W, Donnie B, Mark and Lazaro. They were on time every day, cleaned up the work site every day (swept the driveway, put the tools in a neat manner etc), and were polite and nice to have around. I had a potential change after the crew left the second day, I called Don to discuss it and he said to talk to the crew in the morning and if they didn't give me an answer that worked to call him back. He said their goal is to provide great service. Danny (Daniel W) was able to help me decide if I wanted to change up the design on the balcony or keep it as it looked. I appreciated his thoughtful answer and we kept it as it was designed. I hope I don't have termite damage again, but if I do I would call them. read more

Wow, Best contractor and craftsmen I've hired in a very long time. The estimator "Lucky" was thorough in his assessment/estimate of what I initially hired Best Rate to accomplish. I had rotten fascia boards and rafter tails that needed replacing. I then added another minor remodeling job that included, electrical, insulation, paneling/painting and some minor concrete repair. All phases of both jobs were completed on time and to my total satisfaction. They showed up early everyday ready to work. The replacement boards were nice redwood that they treated, primed, and top coated before installation. They are all that and a bag of chips. Donny, Alex, Mark and Lorenzo did fantastic work for us. They cleaned up daily and never left and debris on the work site. Thank you.. read more

I could not be more pleased with this company. The technician was exactly on time which is appreciated. He was pleasant and good- natured and experienced . We used a company called Best rate. We have had many companies come check our house, truly Nolan (not a good experience, had to get a refund after damage was found after) and one other that was good, (Pestmasters), but expensive and not very comprehensive. Best Rate checked everything, found a problem and proved it to us and fixed it for the lowest estimate we could get. Check their website, we recommend them highly. They did the work and cleaned up for the cost they had given us. read more

Best Rate cannot be beat. In my opinion, they are the best in the business. First, the "above and beyond:" When I confided in the wonderful office manager, Katie, that the reason I kept delaying the termite tenting was because I was scared that I would lose my cat when we had to evacuate for the tenting, she got her super colleague, Jordana, to find motels that accepted pets. Jordana sent me a list of 8 or 10 places near my neighborhood, complete with details, addresses, and phone numbers. (Who does that?) That's customer service beyond what I could ever ask for. In addition, because the house was under construction, the first inspector recommended that I wait until the construction was done to do the tenting. However, Best Rate did the necessary repairs right away. Again, above and beyond. They had to replace a couple of siding boards on the garage. I asked if I could keep the extra siding to make another repair. They not only gave me the left over siding, but installed it AND painted it. (Who does that?) Long story short, the contractor working on the construction abandoned the job and I had to find and hire someone else to finish it. This meant that Best Rate had to come out 2 more times to adjust their estimate (once, for the post-construction footprint and the second time, to include an added deck). There was no charge for the additional estimates. By now, I'm asking myself, "Am I in a small town where people take care of each other, or am I in the big city of San Diego?" (I'm in San Diego.) Frank, who came out to do the final estimate, walked me through the basics of what my job would be to get ready, which was really helpful because it gave me a head start on some of the work (moving rocks away from the outside walls, packing up food items). The tenting was scheduled quickly once I was ready. Frank came BACK AGAIN the next week and explained what I had to do in much detail and gave me checklists to follow. I had more questions just before the tenting and Jordana was always, always available to answer my questions no matter how specific they were. I felt like I had an ally in the adventure. The fumigation company was also terrific. I met them on the day the tent was to go on the house and they walked the property with me, making sure everything was ready. They were very careful with my outdoor landscaping and plants, and I noticed after I got back in the house, that they also bagged up some items I had forgotten, AND they raked the rocks back to the outside walls. They cleaned up whatever evidence there might have been that a tenting had taken place: the property looked great. Frank came back out to collect the payment a few days later and I could hardly wait to give it to him. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Best Rate from beginning to end. I highly recommend them as THE company to do business with. I wouldn't use anyone else. (And PS, the cat loved her vacation at the Blue Heron Cottages in Ocean Beach.) read more
