The company I was financing a loan with forced this company on me. They wanted over $12,000 in return for a clear pest control. I had an old deck that was going to be demolished and was the only part of the house with significant termite fungus. I was willing to part ways with the deck early on if it meant a clear report. After receiving a disgustingly overpriced quote, I decided to leave a review since no one at this company cared about my concerns when I called. Larry came out to do an inspection, he seemed like a nice guy until I had a second company do an inspection so I could compare quotes. Larry wanted to charge us $950 for repairs in our attic that were not required. There were black termite droppings that were approx. 10 years old from the old roof that was replaced, plus there was no termite entry point. I had this validated from the other termite company. My husband asked Larry to show him and his excuse was that he put his ladder away and didn't want to go get it, so my husband had to keep pushing him. That's so shady! This was the biggest problem for me since they have an employee that's making stuff up to charge customers. This will be reported to the Pest Control Board for false advertisement: "a person or thing regarded as a means of recommending something". He also wanted to charge $2,450 to replace the balcony rail caps when not all of them required replacement. When asked why we were replacing all of it, his response was "I don't see why you wouldn't replace the whole thing". Funny, since he's making commission off of it. A simple wood accent that took 5 mins to replace after painting was quoted for $350. I understand that businesses need to make money, but deceiving your customers and ripping them off is unethical and unsatisfactory. The total quote from License to Kill was over $4300. The second company quoted me less than $1000 for an identical report, minus the fake repair in the attic. They even showed us how to fix it ourselves. The repairs cost us $45 in parts and was so simple, we did it in one afternoon. Instead of addressing the problems, the owner chooses to argue with customers on Yelp and the CSR doesn't do their job. License To Kill Termite & Pest Control - Copy of inspection from LTK. $4300, over four times more expensive than a second quote I received from another company - Pest Control Near Me - El Cajon, California

I called License To Kill to get rid of a mouse problem up in the attic. They cannot make a quote without seeing the what the problem was. So the inspection was scheduled for 3 pm the same day. I arrived home just for the inspection, however, they were 30 mins late. The guy that was inspecting was easy to talk to, explained what he saw in the attic, around the house, and in the crawl space. He seem to be a hard worker going into the attic when the temperature was over than 100 degrees. He even checked my old termite wood and says there was nothing to worry about. I ask him to seal all possible mouse entries. Soon after, a nice lady called to schedule the repairs for the very next day at 12 pm. Even though I wasn't going to be home, my family had the payment upfront. On the day of the repair, my family called to say the guy arrived at 3:20 pm instead of 12:00 pm. I inspected their work when I got home to see that some vent decently covered up and some were badly done. The vent wasn't sealed properly and still had a 1-inch gap for the mouse. I also found a hole right next to the crawlspace entrance that was not shown to me during the inspection was not sealed at all. So I guess if they didn't see it in inspection, they're not going to do it. Another part of the house had just steel and foam sealant spray on it, it was just a big mess. Imagine you notice a little pile of what looks like sawdust on the windowsill in your daughter's room. You think, "Huh, this is troubling. How long has this been here?" You vacuum it up to see if it reappears. Then you go out of town for a few days. When you come back, not only is there more "sawdust" (which I later learned was POOP), but the entire windowsill is swarming with what I learned were drywood termites. That's what happened to me, and I FREAKED OUT. Not many pest control places are available on weekends, but I found License to Kill Termite & Pest Control and called. I was more than a little distrubted when I made my call, but the person who took my call was kind, patient, and reassuring. She said she could for sure make an appointment in a few days' time ,but was going to see what she could do for today. Within ten minutes she called back and said Vincent would be more than happy to come do at least an inspection and, if we wanted, see what treatment he could do. He arrived within an hour, and he was professional and helpful. On top of that, he has a calm and relaxing presence, which helped take my panic down a few nothches. Vincent did an investigation of our home and pinpointed the problem area. He got right to work on treament, and the cost was extremely reasonable. He didn't rush and explained everything he was doing and how it would help. To top it off, the work he did is guaranteed. My wife and I like supporting local, independent businesses, and we were happy to hire License to Kill to do the work. The response was quick, the assessment was thorough, and the work was quality. They want $1,500 to replace a door jamb; $1,675 to replace a fascia board; $1,845 to replace a few pieces of siding; and, $1,145 to replace a couple of studs in the garage. Larry came out for the estimate. He was kind and answered all my questions. The secretary lady on the phone was just ok with her customer service. HERE WENT THE PROBLEM. They tented my house on Tuesday. My trash gets collected on Thursday morning. Tent was not due to come off til Thursday afternoon. The INSTALLERS covered my trash can. They bent and broke my cable satellite dish. They broke the AT&T pedestal in front of my house. Yes it was old but it was in tact. Now its an exposed hazard. They did not replace a portion of my wood fence in the backyard. They knocked over my plants and left them knocked over. They sent the bill to be paid before all of this was fixed. I voiced my concerns with the secretary lady on the phone and (ALTHOUGH NOT HER FAULT) she wasn't even apologetic for the service I received. Just wanted the bill paid off. read more

License to Kill tented a house as part of escrow in 2003. The work seemed to be done adequately. A year after the work was completed, I received what I would best describe as a threatening invoice. The invoice was really a request to continue termite service, but had words on it like "balance due" (I can't remember the exact working). I complained to them, and they seem to take the complaint to heart. I give them 2 stars rather than 1, for that. Still, someone at License to Kill made the decision to send what I consider to be almost a scam letter, and I won't do business with them again. Keep in mind, this was in 2003. I'm a property manager and wound up with a bed bug problem. I had only ever dealt with this once before at another property but the guy I used there wasn't available until the next day. I appreciated that Vincent was available to come out the same day. He showed up and told me he wouldn't actually be inspecting for evidence of bed bugs but just treating the unit. I left it up to him as he's the expert. He told me it would take about 30 minutes. He sprayed around inside the unit for the 30 minutes and charged me nearly $800 for the service. Well worth it... if it would have gotten rid of the bugs. But of course it didn't. Because Vincent failed to look for the source of the problem the bed bugs persisted in a sofa, which was plainly evident to the guy I had to call out two weeks later to actually treat the problem. I found Vincent's haphazard approach unprofessional and clearly ineffective. I would not recommend his service. read more

I had a mouse/rat problem in an apartment for over 3 months. This rodent had eaten the wiring and all of the pipes of the dishwasher including making many holes in the walls. I tried to kill him myself with every type of trap and poison sold at the hardware store. I finally called my (regular) pest control company to help. Even they could not find the rodent and kill it. I found "License to Kill" on the internet and call called them. They had Vincent call me back right away and he came out in 1 hour. Vincent told me he had over 20 years experience with rodents and pests and he would solve my rodent problem. Vincent told me his plans and went to work. He set traps and made a special trap just for my apartment. ONLY 4 hours later my tenant called me and said the mouse/rat was caught in Vincent's trap. I went to the apartment and there it was, A RAT as big as a possum, This Rat filled the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket. I am Very Thankful for Vincent and the Quick Professional help he gave me. Last year they came in to spray for the ants we were having problems with and did a sloppy job. They came once more to "fix" the issue with a lower charge even though we were told there was a one month guarantee. We gave them another try this year and the same situation happened again. I called LTK on Wednesday 1/11/2017. Vincent Gomez called me right back and made an appointment. I had a rat in my house. Vincent came out about 11 and set 15 traps, this rat is not getting away. I was a little stressed about this whole thing but Vincent assured me they would get the critter. I was up and down all night but finally the trap went and the rat is now gone. Vincent is sending someone to pick up the critter and he is also going to get a estimate to me as soon as possible to seal the place the rat could be getting in. My new hero's. read more

We had a very positive experience with License-To-Kill (LTK). We were referred to their inspector (Larry) by our Buyer's Agent Realtor (Justin Gramm / Globella.com). Larry appeared and sounded quite experienced during the inspection and identified 3-4 areas of certain and/or potential concern for termite damage. We had hoped and expected that the seller would then take responsibility for the repairs and fumigation, but when she did not, we continued to interact with LTK to try to schedule a fumigation and needed remediation work. I first contacted Sandy several weeks prior to when we would be able to get into the house and she was great on both the phone and by e-mail, providing prompt, accurate, and friendly feedback on every question we had before scheduling the repair/remediation work. They (Vincent, Miguel, Alex, and Sandy) came to the house to provide the remediation work on 11 July 2016 and were able to accomplish all of the repairs in one day (we had blocked out/anticipated possibly needing two). Although neither my wife nor I have much construction expertise, the work they did in replacing damaged eaves rafters with new wood and painting the wood with paint we provided and inspecting and then trying to provide a roof line moisture seal and a small patch of new stucco looks like it is of high quality workmanship and aesthetically looks quite nice. They sub-contracted out the actual fumigation to SD Union Termite Fumigation. SD Union evidently employs several people who used to work for LTK when LTK did the actual fumigations, too. While we were a bit nervous about SD Union coming out after we read some of their Yelp reviews, I have to say we also had a positive experience with them. We were concerned about the risk of damage to our solar panels and to other areas of the house from the tenting, but Sandy had reassured me several times that they have used them a lot and had good experiences/reports from their customers and they wouldn't continue using them if they weren't good. They appeared on time for both the tenting and the removing of tenting and we have noticed no major damage or ill effects on the house or solar panels so far (I'm writing this on 20 July after the tent was placed on 13 July and removed on 15 July 2016...I'll update this review if we discover any damage later that we've missed so far as we haven't been able to get a report back on the efficiency of the solar panels post-fumigation yet). After we were able to get back into the house and continued to ventilate it we were able to see evidence of a few dead arthropods (although no termites) throughout the house and garage, helping us believe the fumigation was also effective. Although we did not do tons of comparison shopping prior to asking LTK to do the work, we always felt that they were being up front with us in the discussions leading up to the work we had done. We relied in no small part on the extremely positive customer service experience we had with Sandy in hiring them, and our sense that they really did and do try to live Christian principles in their interactions with customers. Although the price was not inexpensive from our perspective, Vincent did offer us a significant Military Retiree discount on the final settling of the bill and if all of the work done did indeed rid of us of termites and prevented future infestations for several years we will have indeed considered it money well-spent! read more
