I had a really upsetting experience with Thrasher Pest Control and would not recommend them to anyone who cares about humane pest control. I originally called because we had mice getting into our house. From the very beginning, I was extremely clear that I did not want to kill any mice. I only wanted help getting them out of the house safely and preventing them from coming back in. When they arrived, I repeated this multiple times. I was told that humane removal wasn't an option, that they didn't do that, and essentially that there wasn't another way to handle the problem. Because they presented lethal methods as the only realistic option, I felt pressured into going along with their program despite repeatedly saying that killing the mice was specifically what I did NOT want. A mouse ended up dying, and I feel horrible about it. What makes me especially upset is that afterward I researched this myself and discovered that humane, non-lethal mouse removal does exist, including companies in San Diego that specifically offer humane rodent removal. That was exactly what I had been asking for from the beginning. If Thrasher couldn't provide the type of service I was requesting, I wish they had simply been honest and said, "We don't offer humane removal, so we're not the right company for you." I could have gone elsewhere. Instead, I was left with the impression that I had no other option. I was also extremely uncomfortable that we were encouraged to keep poison/bait stations outside for mice that weren't even inside our home or bothering us, as part of an ongoing paid service. My entire goal was simply to remove the mice from inside my house and keep them from getting back in, not to kill animals living outside. I deeply regret agreeing to this. I specifically tried to prevent an animal from being killed, and now I have to live with knowing that a mouse died because I trusted what I was being told about my options. If humane treatment of animals matters to you, please research humane mouse removal and exclusion services in San Diego before agreeing to poison or lethal traps. There ARE companies that focus on non-lethal methods. I wish Thrasher had respected what I repeatedly told them, acknowledged that their approach wasn't compatible with what I wanted, and allowed me to find a company that was. Knew we had rodent mouse problem getting into the garage and while eating breakfast early 2 am a mouse came out from under the couch and thats when i called Thrasher and Josue was able to come over later that morning. He looked over the garage, house and yard and set up some traps in the garage and house. He explained what he was doing and answered my many questions. He pointed out how the mouse were chewing away at the bottom of the strip that goes to bottom of the concrete and thus a hole big enough for the mouse to get in on both ends. We have a garage guy coming out tomorrow to fix that problem. The morning after setting the traps we had mouse number 1 in the garage and we didnt see any droppings in the house for a few days. Today we had mouse number 2 in the garage. Thrasher are closed over the weekend but Josue said to call if needed. I called today a Saturday and didnt figure I would hear back but a couple of hours later Josue called and said he was going to be in neighborhood for cousin birthday and could stop by and take the mouse away. I don't mind spiders and snakes, but it ain't what it takes to call Thrasher! I am beyond tired of dealing with wasps.They are constantly making homes in my eaves. But yesterday, I had enough. I walked onto my deck and they were swarming, and going in and out of a vent to my house. After nearly poisoning myself with spray, I called Thrasher, and Mark V. came out today. What I learned: They were swarming to find a place to make a home, but I guess I interrupted them. Although they were flying in and out of a screened vent, which actually Mark fixed because it wasn't sealed well, Mark said that wasps don't make homes/nests in enclosed areas like bees, they want to be outside. That information alone made me feel better knowing I don't have wasps flying around in the ducts of my home. There is not a lot of prevention we can do. Evidently, we are enabling the wasps as we have a pool, so with water and dirt (=mud) those are the building resources. Mark provided me a lot of reassurance, an education and the means to take on the next round. Mark is a true professional, knowledgeable and a real gentleman. I called Thrasher this morning freaked out about little tiny unknown bugs I found in the house. I am pretty sure I know where they came from and that they just arrived yesterday, so I wanted to get make sure I had someone come today. Even though it was Friday and very last minute, the extremely helpful receptionist found a way to squeeze me in between 2 - 4 this afternoon! I told her I had to work and couldn't get home until 2:15, "no problem" she said. Of course, I got stuck in traffic making me a little late :( I was worried I would miss them and have to wait the weekend, giving the vermin time to multiply, but the very polite service tech, Andrew, was kind enough to wait until I got home. After checking the sample I had captured, he told me he was unsure of its species and rushed off to get it identified by an entomologist, promising to call me back in a few hours to let me know what it is and how we ensure it doesn't infest. So my problem isn't solved yet, but I am very impressed by the professionalize of this company so far! Helping out my elderly neighbor who's had a major problem with pests, mainly spiders and ants. I had tried spraying the yard before myself but it didn't seem to have much effect on the problem. I found Thrasher off the YP and just took a shot in the dark by calling them. Well I got lucky this time because they did a great job for us. Their tech Mark was right on time for the appointment and got to work right away. We walked around the property and he showed me some of the nesting spots where the spiders are. It was obvious that he was very knowledgeable and had been doing pest control for quite a while. My neighbor Harry said he hasn't been bitten recently so I guess that's a good sign. Mark mentioned that for the size of the property that a quarterly treatment plan would make a big difference. He was professional about it and didn't try to hard sell us, but just gave us some reasonable options to consider. The customer service from Mark was excellent and so far the treatment seems to be working. My experience with Thrasher has been great! I was referred to them by our cousin, who has also been happy with his service. The ladies in the office have been cheerful and happy to help each time I have spoken with them. (I can't recall their names.) Our technician, Ed, is a great guy. I knew Ed from a past pest control company, and truly missed his great service when he left them and we, long story short, went through a rash of substandard service. Needless to say, I am THRILLED to run into him again through Thrasher. Ed has always done a super thorough job, taking his time and doing the job right. I hired Thrasher Termite and Pest Control about a year ago to spray the outside of my house in Coronado every other month because I was concerned about the spiders I was seeing both outside and inside. I have small children and a pet, so I didn't want them to spray indoors - until last week. I called them on Thursday to ask for them to spray because I have seen a TON of bugs inside the house, and they were able to come out the next day, but I had a conflict, so they scheduled me first thing Monday morning. Mark was absolutely great - even after he had to wait for me because I was a few minutes late. He identified all types of insects and I have not seen a bug in the week since he sprayed indoors. I highly recommend these guys - I have a regular contract with them, but they came out immediately to spray the inside even though my house wasn't due for the outside spraying yet. We needed to treat a rental home for termites. Thrasher was very cooperative, working with our tenant's schedule. Thrasher inspected the home free of charge. They gave us a reasonable price, and a quick response time, so we decided to go with them. Half way through bagging the food stuff, our tenants ran out of bags (provided by Thrasher.) Thrasher sent someone to drop off more bags to the house. When they arrived to treat the home, they discovered some of the bags had not been tied off correctly. They personally helped fix all of the bags. After treatment, I hired Thrasher to repair the termite damaged wood on the patio cover. When I asked the tenant how it went, their comment was "Very conscientious crew. They did an excellent job leaving everything just like they found it and cleaning up after themselves.
