He came on time, introduced, and start the inspection quickly outside and then went up the attic where the previous termite activities occurred. Luckily, everything is quiet as he reported. Douglas reassured me of the quality of wood and workmanship of his crew. He seemed to really know his stuff. The wood work went on as planned , initially, they were here a week. Nefi led a crew with Toribio and Manuel. They did an amazing job. They work fast, and efficiently. They did not cut corners at all. They did a great cleanup at the end of day everyday. They were easy to work with . I would definitely work with them again. Even at the end when the last repairs went past the week schedule. They are great at first because they are cheaper and give you a cheaper option. Then they have you buy a warranty which is shit. They are a scam and in the end they will hit you with a major "wood rot" bill. I would never ever use this company again or recommend it to anyone. We paid the warranty for about 3 years with no mention to us about the wood rot or the damage that we had fixed before they came. It gross me out how much this company takes advantage of people. We just finished up localized termite treatment and massive termite repair work for my mom's house. If you want to avoid the tent, the hassle of packing up and securing perishables I highly suggest calling Douglas for an inspection and quote. He's the only inspector that thoroughly went through my mom's house. 2 other companies avoided coming inside There's a lot involved when deciding how you want to treat these pests. We went with Mariners for quality reasons, transparency in how the repairs will be done. For example with my mom's house they replaced whole pieces of siding not simply cutting out the damage. Douglas assured us the repairs will be undetected. They used matching special order pieces so her house looks seamless The process of applying non toxic to human and animal products was also a plus. The guarantee is phenomenal 3 years (the same as tenting) and they come out every year to inspect The technicians that came out to do the work Nefi and his co worker worked steadily and meticulously taking care to make sure everything was done perfectly. There was a lot of damage at the roofline. Many tiles had to be lifted repair done and roof tiles reinstalled. Nefi was did a huge favor for me too and picked up the paint that was my responsibility. I did my due diligence and interviewed 3 other companies. - Mariners can't be beat in terms of quality , pricing , and most importantly the immeasurable support from Douglas and his technicians. I still can't get over it. The house has numerous areas affected with dry rot / extensive termite damage and now it looks amazing The carpentry was outstanding! I knew I had a bad termite infestation and a lot of wood damage, so I called some companies to do an inspection. Mariners replied same day. Three other companies never replied. Mariners gave me quote for tenting and would repair. It was pretty reasonable so I went ahead with the work. Tenting went great with no damage and no security issues (thank you!) Then came the wood repairs. Wow. Wow! My front deck was pretty chewed up by termites and Mariners completely replaced it. It looks amazing. Some of my roof beams were damaged. They put new beams with supports that look awesome. My rear deck had termite damage and Mariners rebuilt it completely. It looks amazing. Huge shout out to Douglas who did the inspection and estimate and even bigger shout out to Nefi who led the crew. I was so impressed with their communication and how thorough they were. Short version: Flawless. Longer version: After a couple neighbors had termite treatments during the past year, I noticed some termite droppings outside my house. It was time to get some estimates. Douglas from Mariners came out and did a thorough inspection including attic. He was very knowledgeable and experienced, and not pushy in the least. He reported his findings, made some logical recommendations, and provided a fair estimate. I was happy to hear tenting would not be necessary. So far, so good, so I scheduled the work for a few months later when it'd be convenient for us. Today, Toribio and Juan arrived on time, started work promptly and worked pretty much non-stop for 6 hours, removing and replacing damaged exterior wood, doing some spot treatments, and painting new wood and stucco as necessary. Clean up afterward was thorough and there were no surprises along the way. While they did their work, Charles (also from Mariners) came by to apply preventive treatment in the attic. Last week Mariners Pest Control assigned two of their San Diego-based carpenters to replace rotten and termite-damaged wood on my home. Nefi and Juan spent two days repairing my home using the detailed map drawn by Douglas Hatfield, who is based at Mariners office in Lake Forest in Orange County. In the past I've had my home tented twice to fumigate and exterminate termites. I've been reluctant to use the wood restoration services of pest control companies. They are notorious for only patching areas of wood rot and termite damage and doing the minimum to move on to the tenting phase. But Douglas Hatfield has devised a service that provides comprehensive restoration. Nefi and Juan arrived with a truck full of pressure-treated lumber, tools and supplies. They are skilled, experienced workmen adept at sawing wood, painting and chemically treating areas of termite infestation. Despite working long hours, Nefi and Juan were friendly, polite and professional. I appreciated that Nefi showed me a few, unexpected spots -- not on Doug's map -- that required replacement and treatment. They went above and beyond. Now that this long-deferred maintenance project is behind me, I have peace of mind. This kind of workmanship is pricey, but there is a three-year warranty. Douglas did a fairly thorough job of inspecting our house. I sat down with him and went through the infestation he found and recommended replacing the badly infested wood and do a treatment on the rest. I had 3 other companies inspect the house but I felt like 2 of the 3 breezed through their inspection. One inspector who did as good a job of inspecting the house recommended replacing the infected wood and fumigate the house. The only problem was that his company did not employ the people doing the wood replacement. Whereas Douglas said that Mariners Pest Control have employees that do the wood treatment. This made a big difference in my decision to go with Mariners Pest Control even though Douglas' quote was higher than the other companies. Nefi and Toribio should up on time with the replacement wood and we walked through the job based on Douglas' drawing. Nefi understood exactly what they had to do and I left them alone except when Nefi had questions. As an added bonus they replaced more wood than originally marked off by Douglas. Nefi's attitude (and I'm assuming it's a company culture) is that if they find additional problems and it won't cost them too much time then go ahead and make the fix. Nefi and Toribio worked really well together and they both worked hard. I never saw them take a break. Some companies I've hired like when we had the exterior of the house painted, the workers were constantly taking a break like smoking and looking at their phones. They were only at our house for a couple of days; they did a pretty good job of cleaning up after they were done. read more

Used Mariners recently for some extensive dry rot/termite damaged wood replacement and localized termite treatment. After a quick response for a free estimate, Douglas came out at the scheduled time. He did a thorough inspection of the exterior wood trim (fascia, rafter tails, etc) and noted all areas that needed to be repaired/replaced/treated and answered all my questions. We had two other estimates, and while Mariners was not the cheapest, it was the most comprehensive. Plus....the 3 year warranty. The work was done by Nefi and John in two days. I received a message to schedule and did for this morning at 8am. I was impressed I received a text at 6am saying they were coming at 8am. And then nothing. Nobody showed. Nobody called. I rarely write reviews but I must praise Nefi and his team of 3 who did all the repair on my exterior fascia dry rot which was extensive. The repair work took 3 days of a team of 4. They were meticulous in performing the necessary work. All questions and work were performed in a professional manner. Their clean up and attention to details( making certain no nails were left behind) was much appreciated. I also need to praise Douglas who gave the estimate and a detailed report as to the damage. We had 3 estimates and by far Mariners' report on damage was head and shoulders above the rest. I'm beyond grateful to Nathan who came to my aid on the Sunday of Labor Day week-end when to my complete horror, my master bath was covered in termites. I didn't know they were termites until my neighbor identified them. I had used Mariner's for several years, so I placed a call and was told a representative would call back, but no response after 2 hours. I'm a senior lady and alone and now, panicked, so I called again and another operator told me I'd hear from someone. The next call was from Nathan, the owner who tried for some time to locate any technicians that might be available on a holiday week-end. Ultimately, he called back and said he would come himself on Monday, Labor Day. I was able to get through the night despite the hundreds, yes hundreds of termite bodies . So, on Labor Day, Nathan and Herman (I think) came and treated the entire perimeter of my house, and the interior walls in my bathroom for both subterranean and drywood termites. It was hard work, on a hot day, on a holiday. I believe I expressed my gratitude repeatedly, but this was such above and beyond service I had to share this experience. read more

Mariners replaced the damaged wood, did spot treatments and gave me the clearance for my refinance with no problems because there was no active termites and did not need the tenting. I engaged this company to do a termite inspection in a property I was selling. They inspected, said they found termite infestation, and could do "everything you need" to complete the sale for $1800. I agreed and paid half in advance. The work, which entailed drilling multiple holes in the gypsum wallboard, was performed promptly. The buyer, who was required to vacate the premises for two nights, was very dissatisfied with the appearance of repairs to the holes. The technician told the buyer that he'd done all he intended to, and that he could not paint the repairs because he could not match "custom colors." To complete the sale I had to engage an actual painter to properly patch the holes and repaint the damaged walls for $1200. I complained to Mariner, and they insisted that they had done the job as described, and that their obligation included additional treatments that might be necessary during a one-year warranty. Under threat of an unfavorable review, they did give me a $200 discount. As I no longer own the property, I have no way of ascertaining whether the treatment was successful (in terms of pest control) or not. I'd advise anyone considering this vendor to fully understand the scope of services before committing to using them. read more

Several years ago we had a small termite problem. Mariners treated the whole house and got rid of the termites. Great. Then we signed up for their yearly program. We paid the fee every year, they came out, spent 15 minutes looking around and left - no problems (other than one small spot in one year a few years ago). Then we sell our house and have them come out to do the termite clearance inspection. They came out and now spent two hours looking around (yearly 15 minutes). And sure enough found some termites. At this point I thought I have paid my yearly warranty costs and they would take care of it. But no, these termites were in a spot that was not previously treated by them and "hard to access" which they pointed out the clause in the contract. Every year they came out and no one ever mentioned there were areas "hard to access" and not covered under the warranty. I hate to mention how much it cost for a treatment to get rid of these termites that took one guy a few hours. If you need work done they might be alright but I would NOT take their warranty - I found it useless. read more

I have been on a maintenance program with these guys for several years. They spot treated my home without having to tent. They repaired termite damage for a reasonable and did very nice professional work. Last year I noticed the termite "droppings" on my front porch but couldn't tell where they were coming from. They sent a guy within a day or so and he was able to spot treat. One inspector, James, has done the yearly inspection for several years now. He is very thorough and knows his business. He crawls through the attic, and inspects every inch of garage area and outdoor wood. For $300/year, they do an annual inspection and will come and treat any infestation that may occur. Mariners did a great job. Always on time, responsive and professional. First, Douglas came for a very detail termite inspection and explained clearly. The inspection was very informative and not pushy at all. Douglas suggested a plan for localized treatment with repair and gave me an estimation, but then we decide on whole house fumigation instead. Douglas is always quick to response whenever I have questions and explain well. The team for tenting is very professional and didn't even break a tile while it was rainy and slippery. We had to delay a day for the tenting due to heavy rain overnight might form a pool and crush the patio. Billy explain it well and we didn't risk it, so they came back the next day to tent. The tenting team did a great job and was fast in putting up and removing the tent. So we were able to be back home as scheduled. Then Jeremiah and Nefi came and do all the repair and fixed up the termite damages in just one day! The crew are professional and polite and friendly.
