Well we have been using D&S for years..Its about time I shared with you why we would never use anyone else... Pros: 1. HONESTY ..simple enough right.Trusting a company is an amazing find. Not only do they tell you whats wrong they tell ypu WHY its happening and how to prevent it from happening again! 2. The staff are amazing! I usually use Randy he is in my opinion the BEST inspector ever...The repair staff are so nice and happy...dont you just live a happy crew.Oh I cant forget Mary she is awsome on the front end. 2. Always on tume and will try their best to work around your schedule..thats a must with most of us with work kids and life right. 3. I had to have a few beams on the outside removed and replaced due to dry rot and fungus gross...I was needing this done fast and they said 1 week but then found a way to het it done the NEXT day! 4. The price was kind of unbelievable replacing 3 1/2 beams paint install material 450.00! And my 80.00 was deducted! Cons: You know Ive never had a bad experience with them .I have refered them to friends as well ...I cant complain about the price and well here in SD we ALL have termites it is what it is. Pretty disappointing experience overall. The company came across as unprofessional, with poor communication and inconsistent follow-through. It was hard to get clear answers, and the whole process felt a bit disorganized. More concerning was the lack of trust. I had D&S treat my house over 30 years ago and have had them perform an annual inspection every year since. This year, my experience has been disappointing. The initial inspection report listed dry rot but did not include an estimate of repairs, a description of the damage, or the cost of the repairs. I called and talked to Cynthia, the receptionist. She said that since "OACC" was listed on the final page, I would have to go out and find my own contractor. After saying I have always had D&S do the repairs, she said she could have the manager call me. He did, and I got the estimate I wanted and arranged for the work to be completed. So far, so good, except for Cynthia's poor attitude towards me. I received the invoice, which stated there would be a 5% discount for cash. I sent in my check that day and emailed asking how I would get the 5% discount. Dawn (the president) said a check was not cash. I would have to come to the office and hand over $ 1,500 in hard cash to get the discount. I live in Oceanside, and this property is in El Cajon while D&S is in Spring Valley. Driving 50 miles to hand-deliver cash is ridiculous. Not using a credit card or debit card to avoid the fees is no problem, but not accepting a check as cash is a poor business practice. If this is how they treat a customer of 30 years, how do you think they will treat someone new? Avoid D&S and find a termite company that actually wants return customers. read more

I, along with family members, have used D & S Termite for many years. In the beginning, their service was excellent; however, in recent years, the quality of their work has severely declined. Inspectors from other pest control companies have visited properties that D & S supposedly tented and repaired for termite damage, only to find that much of the work was never actually completed. Although D & S claimed they would correct the issues, they failed to do so, and another pest control company ultimately had to be hired to finish the job. Despite being given multiple opportunities to make things right, the company never followed through. Management does not return calls, and the staff is equally unresponsive. Avoid using this company; you will regret it forever if you do. read more

Terrible customer service. Broke over a hundred concrete tiles on a home during a fumigation. They require payment up front so since they'd been paid they said sorry we cant come replace tiles for at least 30 days. My client ( I'm the realtor who hired the company) wanted it done, so she hired her own roofer & paid him( she was concerned we'd get another rainstorm again) and asked for a refund of the $600.00 tile insurance that was paid in advance . NEVER got a return call and we called twice. No regard for customer service. Will never use again. How can you treat your customers this way? read more

I've never had fumigation done before & so went with a recommendation from a friend. All was well until the day of the fumigation when the person in charge entered my backyard w/o introducing themselves or acknowledging me. I had to follow them to get any info. & they did zero to build rapport or comfort. They left our keys on the front porch unattended & seemed annoyed during the entire 10 minute interaction. Upon returning to our home I have the distinct impression that they simply do not care. Things were thrown into our garden. Branches were broken off. Planters were on the ground broken. My overall impression is D&S doesn't care about customers or service in the slightest. I'm not talking about normal impacts from tenting ... I'm talking about a complete & utter lack of customer service or professional protocols. read more

I would not recommend this company for any wood repairs. We have had workmanship issues with all of them and it hasn't even been a year. Most recently our garage door repair is already falling apart, not to mention the poor attempt to paint "match". We've tried to get someone out to fix this but they aren't being responsive. read more

We needed a whole home fumigation and sourced 5 companies. We were ready to move forward with one but after receiving a referral for D&S from a realtor friend everything changed. We called and they came out within 2 days.The estimator Mike was great. They were terrific, honest, upfront and did a great job. The team was all their guys, they don't sub out the work unlike many other companies. A few weeks after the treatment I noticed a heat cap had come off a gas chimney vent and was resting on a lower roof. Thinking it had to be them I called and spoke with Mary. She was terrific and had a tech in the area who came by that day!! He reattached it and even went so far as to silicon it on so it would not come off again. They are the best. read more

I would give them a zero if I could. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Some guys came to fumigate my parent's house. After 2 days, they came back to remove the tent but they also removed 1 soursop (guanabana) tree, and 2 atemoya trees. They removed the plants from the pots and picked off 20 of the fruits. We don't have cameras that could have caught them but we have proof. For example, we found lots of soil surrounding the area where their truck was parked. The day they came to tent, they asked my parents what soild they used for their plants. My dad showed them and picked them a couple of fruit to eat. My parent's trees are very expensive and I believe the workers knew that. Beware! If they can take those trees they can take other expensive things. read more

Very displeased with the tenting of my home. Not only did the crew smash several of my plants when they moved my trash cans, they tracked mud all through my house which has brand new hardwoods. What really concerns me is that they walked all over my solar panels when they installed the tent. Severall of the panels were now misaligned because the supporting hardware gave out under the weight of an idoit who obvioulsy has no bussiness on a roof. If I could give this company a zero, I would. Do not use this company. They clearly do not care about your home or the quality of their work. We followed all instructions and there was damage throughout our property from their work. We paid the additional roof tile fee and we were told they broke tiles but received no photos they were replaced. They also stained our front entry walkway and we have not been able to remove stain. Our very expensive cactus and succulents were all damaged and dead. They were far enough away from the house and still damaged. It cost $600 to replace. One of the workers had a cut and there were blood drops throughout the house they left and didn't clean up. This was absolutely awful. The receptionist admitted that someone cut themselves. I called to report all this and a manager never followed back up. Awful customer service. read more

My story begins with my neighbor's house being sold in our cul-de-sac. The realtor was the same person that sold our house to us over 19 years ago. She had the house tented for termites and there was a crew replacing all of the wood that was destroyed. They did such a great job, I asked our realtor for their info. Needless to say, we received a really great price for tenting our house and replacement of all the termite destroyed wood around the house. All of this was scheduled for next week 3/20 thru 3/22 for the tenting, and all the wood replacements also scheduled for 3/26 & 3/27. Well I received a call from D&S on Wednesday 3/14 stating that they had a cancellation, and asked me if they could come tomorrow. I agreed and they came the next morning I went through all of the marked areas that was on the inspection paperwork with the Forman that reflected wood damage. Oh, and I also asked if they could cut back the corner of my roof out front so I could get enough room for my RV. With all that said, they went to work at about 9 am, and when I got home from work at 2:30 pm they were done. Yes, done! I was pleasantly shocked over the craftsmanship that these 3 guys did. The replacement wood looked like it had been there ever since the house was built. And the corner part of the roof was beautifully cut back giving me another 2' of Room to part my RV. I took some before and after pictures, but they don't speak of all the work these guys did. It's not very often that I actually praise a company for excellent workmanship, so I hope this will do. In conclusion, I would recommend this termite company to all my friends. And I hope you experience the pleaser of great work as I did. The House was tented today, and I have to admit, it was no easy task. Double bagging everything so the gas doesn't contaminate was a bear! But it's done and the gas is in. I'm so glad this is almost over, for I shouldn't have to do it again. Again, the crew led by Randy were very helpful and courteous. I will continue to recommend D&S to everyone I know. read more

Willful Disregard We just had the house tented for termites. We call D&S because they did a great job 15+ years before. They were not the cheapest, but we went with them because of the good previous work. The sale person was on time and professional. It went downhill from there. D&S is not the same company. I'm still having a hard time comprehending the willful disregard for our safety and our property and unprofessionalism during and after the work. The list is long but will keep it down to a few highlights. 1-They had no Corvid protocols in place, 2- Pull several plants up by the roots and threw them over the bank 3- Broke over 50 tiles on the roof 4- Remove gutters and left them hanging 5- Damaged the new solar system. 6- Two works used the bathroom, peed on the floor and wall, and did not flush the toilet. They have no customer service and no sorry. I wish I were exaggerating. There are so many other companies that use someone else. read more

D&S Termite control purportedly did the termite work on a house we bought in November 2018. While the fumigation certificate is in the attic, the additional wood replacement that was to have been done was either not done or was done poorly, e.g., sistered joists don't run the full span of the original joist. I just had another termite company come out and much of the work that was to be done was simply painted over and not replaced. The new inspector reviewed the termite report submitted to us and showed us where he was finding the same problem and that the wood had never been replaced (the termite damage and wood rot had NOT occurred since 2018). I don't have recourse as it has been more than 6 months but I warn you against using them and if you are buying a property where they are the termite company, do not sign off until you have had an independent contractor or termite inspector verify that the work was done. read more

After quote shopping with a couple fumigation services, we eventually settled on D&S, which was a bad move. Randy came to the house and was extremely pleasant, walking me through the process, costs, etc. From there on in it was a thoroughly stressful and unpleasant experience. It began with the team showing up almost 90 minutes late. They scheduled a team to arrive early in the morning- 7 a.m., and so we were all up early getting everyone out of the house and being ready for the team to be there at 7. They didn't show until almost 8:30. During those 90 minutes, I made several calls to D&S to find out where they were, and the dispatcher could not have been less pleasant or less interested in helping me. She used the old, "I just talked to the driver and he said he's almost there" line so many times it was laughable. Finally she gave some excuse that I don't think even she believed, and I just gave up. They showed up 90 minutes late, without any apology. Furthermore, I could see in the cab of the truck that they had stopped off somewhere for breakfast because all their bags of food were there and a couple guys were still eating. So while my family was sitting outside of the house for 90 minutes, these people were having breakfast. The lack of courtesy was staggering, and they showed no regard for my time or my possessions. Also, these gentlemen apparently are of the misguided belief that they can judge who speaks Spanish simply by looking at them. Unfortunately for them, I speak Spanish and had the pleasure of listening to them talk about me and my family in the most vile, crude, profane terms possible. When they realized I understood, they quickly ran back into the truck. I've since used another service for a new house and went through none of the hassle I did with D&S. Save yourself some time and money and use someone else. These people are unpleasant and unprofessional. In this economy, there are a lot of people who would certainly be more appreciative of your business. read more

As a neighbor to a property they tented, I was very disappointed in their time on my property. Mike Saunders, the field rep, knocked on my door to ask for access to my back yard for their tenting in a few days. We went in the back yard to discuss how they would do the tenting. At first he said they would have to take down my fence. Then we agreed they would not take down the fence, but tape the cover to the fence. We were very clear - THEY WILL NOT TAKE DOWN THE FENCE. He promised. I believed him. He seemed like such a nice guy. He even said I was a nice homeowner, some people give him a hard time accessing the back yard. They busted my fence out!!! Then screwed it back together like I wouldnt notice. Left nails all over. I called the office and the person who answered the phone just said, sorry, can we come out and fix it for you? The workers who tented picked my avocado tree clean - they must have take 30 - 40 avocados. 1 or 2, ok, but the entire top and side we cleaned off. I dont want them back in my yard. She wanted to know if someone could call to apologize? And waist more of my time? I already have to fix and paint the fence. I just do not understand how someone can tell you your property will not be damaged when he knew full well it would be. Steer clear of this group. read more

Beware! Fumigation is serious business. You are entrusting the security of your home to someone for at least two days. They have the keys, they open it up, they poke around, and they are responsible for keeping your dwelling secure for the duration of the fumigation process. D&S fails their customers by grossly neglecting their responsibility to keep your dwelling secure. The fumigation process, where they put a tent over the building, took two days. One day with the tent on and one day to allow the gas to escape. Before this process D&S held a meeting that described the process, our responsibilities and what they would do while we were gone. They assured us that while the building was vacant there would be "secondary" locks on our apartments and garages as to prevent entry by us or someone else. Secondary meaning after, or better yet in addition to the first. I was expecting to see my own lock secured and an additional lock on the unit. Pure morbid curiosity had me returning to the building to just check it out during the ventilation phase. I checked my garage and found that my own and the rest of the tenants primary locks had been removed. The "secondary lock" was a 12" piece of 2X4 nailed vertically up the garage door frame with a single nail. I could have easily removed this with my bare hands. I was quite honestly appalled at what I had discovered as the items contained in my garage are of significant value to me and my roommates. I called the company and complained as I felt very mislead and that they did not live up to their responsibilities. Home owners read and heed, renters beware. 1 star. Nailed boards for locks are just unacceptable. Note that my review comes from the standpoint of a tenant who has little long term interest in the repair of the property. Then again, if I owned the complex and people were nailing boards into my place I'd be pissed too! read more

I found even the thought of getting my house tented very stressful Got 3 estimates. D&S was the lowest--mostly because of the cost of tile insurance. Was very pleased with all personnel I interacted with. Priscilla and Antonette in the office were cordial and answered all my questions. Robert, the leadman on fumigation day was friendly and thorough in finding the salt and pepper shakers I overlooked and failed to empty. When I sold my house D&S was chosen by my realtor to do the inspection and repairs. I assumed they would be fine since a well known realtor company would use them. I was wrong. The termite damage to the house was minimal ( crawl space entrance frame was touching dirt and had subterranean termite damage) also some dry rot boards on the deck. $500 to treat the soil for termites. I don't know if this is a good deal or not, I've never had termites treated before but it seams high. $720 to replace the damaged wood at the crawl space door and the dry rot on the deck. I figured for that price they would do a good job because I could hire my own handyman for the same job and it would cost no more than $200 The deck repairs were bare minimum and obvious. Instead of replacing the 8' tread boards that had dry rot with new 8' boards they cut the rotted section out and patched in new pieces ( 3'-4' cuts ). So now the deck looks worse and their new boards don't lay perfectly flat so you can stub your toe on them, or cut yourself, or trip. Also they were supposed to replace two 4X4 headers that hang out past the awning ( an aesthetic feature ) but chopped them off and left them flush instead since the hang out portion of the board had the damage. Again it looks worse than it was and saved them hundreds of dollars. Anyways, do to their quality of work and cutting corners I believe this $720 job should have cost $200. My realtor called them on my behalf and was able to get a $150 refund but it felt more like an insult. Also they left cigarette butts on the ground. read more

D & S Termite is by far the best. We use them on our rentals for service and just recently needed a termite inspection/work for our VA loan. We compared them w/three other outfits and found their pricing to be the best and w/the service we are already aware of, we gave them the work. The termite inspector (Kelly) was awesome, on time and very informative. The crew, Emilio and Ricardo did an excellent job in doing the repairs and when they finished, everything was cleaned and picked-up, what else can a homeowner expect. The only reason they did not get 5 stars is there were some mix-ups in the office but Kimber was able to get everything straight. Thank you all. D & S is highly recommended. read more

The termite business seems a little shady to me since everyone who comes out can always find error with every other estimator or company who'd been there before them. I recently got quotes from 3 different companies to treat for subterranean termites D&S was the cheapest and had the best protection plan for both drywood and subterranean termites for the money. Of the 3, D&S, Hume, Terminix: D&S was over 1K cheaper over a 5 year period. Every time D&S came out or answered my questions on the phone they were very professional and direct. Today when the team from D&S came out to treat the termites they were only going to treat a small area... but when they got down there they found a lot more that needed to be treated and did it all for no additional cost. They literally treated the entire perimeter of my house for the cost of one small area. D&S was getting my money because they had the best prices, but now I will be telling everyone I know to use them because they went above and beyond. read more

We manage rental properties so across our various locations we do several termite fumigations every year. D & S has performed many termite fumigations for us and it is always a great experience. Our inspector Mike is extremely knowledgeable and always happy to provide his assessment. Every time we call or email the office, there is someone friendly and energetic (Priscilla, Antonette, Mary, etc.) who immediately helps us with what we need. We just completed a fumigation of a 4-unit property and D & S went above and beyond for us. The day the tent was scheduled to go on, it was raining heavily and the wind was really gusting. Most termite companies probably would have rescheduled the fumigation but D & S understood how much work it took for us to relocate our tenants for several nights and get them to properly bag their food, so D & S pushed through and fumigated the property despite the very challenging weather. This was the third fumigation I've worked on with the site manager Adrian and he was awesome to work with, as always. We're so appreciative that D & S pushed through to get this fumigation done on schedule despite the weather challenges. D & S helps us keep our properties structurally sound, our residents happy, and they are a pleasure to work with. Thank you D & S! read more

It's unfortunate I need to write this review, I used this company for 3 years with no issues, having them come out once a quarter to spray and treat for any insects. But I had an inexcusable incident recently that forced me to cancel any future business and can not recommend this company to anyone. They had a technician come out and spray but we had left the dog out in the back. We realized our mistake and called the company to make sure they do not or did not open the back and spray, they assured us they did not, only to find out later this was a lie. They had not confirmed this with the technician, and fortunately we had a neighbor and a camera to capture the incident. The technician not only went in the back and sprayed, he let the dog out to the street. The technician was then leaving when the neighbor stopped him and asked if he was putting the dog back. The technician said 'it's not my dog, I don't care and am not responsible for it' and took off. We are so thankful we had our neighbor take care of the dog until we got home. Bottom line, if you use this company you are gambling with customer service. read more

We had our home fumigated on Monday. (This was not part of a real estate transaction.) The inspector Randy was personable and straightforward. The office staff answered my many questions honestly and patiently. I was very impressed with the crew. They arrived on time, worked efficiently and pleasantly. They were careful not to damage our copper gutters or roof tiles, and took the time to put back the landscaping as was practicable. Also their tents are black, which we liked since they were less noticeable. I appreciated that this company is small. The pricing was fair and less than we expected! I highly recommend D & S Termite.
