Ate here for the first time last night and it certainly will not be our last visit. With every bite we happily muttered "this is so good"! We started out with the mussels....the broth was perfectly seasoned and thee mussels tender and fresh. Our server happily provided some extra bread so we could sop up all the delicious broth. We then moved on to the Cassoulet and the Duck Confit for our mains along with a side of brussel sprouts. Yum. Each dish was prepared perfectly. Quintessential homey French food. So delish; worth the side trip. Our group tried a few things and had lots of left overs! (Servings size is huge!) Pork belly with horseradish sauce and sour cherry sauce. Wow! Good. Least fatty pork belly I've ever had. Goat cheese croquet with veggies and country bread. All around delish perfect. The Peppered Pig is an unassuming flavor-packed gem! Located in a strip mall type building, this restaurant is small with a sort of upscale cafe feel. My friend and I thought everything sounded so good, we nearly ordered the whole menu. We had the Mussels, Braised Pork Belly, Sous Vide Egg Bite, Arugula Salad, Duck Rillette, and a steak special, and there wasn't a single thing we didn't enjoy. This restaurant has been on my list for quite some time. I'm so glad I was finally able to stop by. I came in shortly after the restaurant opened on a Friday for lunch. I was immediately greeted by what looked like the chef behind the bar. He showed us to our seats then our great server Nikki came by. Starting off with a couple appetizers, we ordered the Goat Cheese Croquette and Chicken Wings. The goat cheese was great! Not overly fried and pleasingly not overly pungent since goat cheese is one of the stronger cheeses. The chicken wings were served with a guajillo chili lime glaze. This was delicious. The chicken wings were crispy on the outside, incredibly tender on the inside. For my main, I opted in for the Duck Confit. This was out of this world. The duck was succulent and easily slipped off the bone. Crispy skin, and paired with a small salad with a vinegar-based dressing which cuts down the richness from the duck. One of the best entrees I've had from any restaurant. For dessert, I ordered the Bread Pudding which I've only had a few times, but this was definitely the best. We started with a cheese plate: the pickled figs and tomato jam are so good! I had a Chopped Pig salad which was huge, perfectly dressed, but could use a bit of crunch, maybe add walnuts? My friends quiche was very fluffy, looked delicious! I had the Sheila's Cloud cocktail which was spectacular. Overall very fresh and well prepared food, good value for the cost. I will be back! I've only been to "The Pig" 4 times, but I totally get it and I'm sold! The prices are very reasonable considering the ingredients and care taken when preparing them. However, the major factor in my 5 star review is the creativity and good taste exhibited when developing their recipes and menu. This is not a burger and fish fry place! (Finally!) I really like when restaurants offer dishes that are different from "all the others". We ordered the pork belly for an appetizer, the duck, the chicken provencel, and the bucatini pasta for entees and finished it off with a cheese platter. It was all prepared perfectly. I met a friend here for lunch today. I am a retired French teacher and have a love for that cuisine. The name doesn't indicate the type of food so it was a pleasant surprise. I ordered the bouillabaisse. It had generous amounts of fish and seafoods and the broth was rich and flavorful. My lunch companion had the roasted beet salad and she was pleased with her choice as well. It had plenty of yummy beets, and lots of cheese on top. We saw frites, quiches, and grilled cheeses arriving at neighboring tables and while we were pleased with our choices, we plan to return to try some of them. So glad to have this great place in Webster 4/22/20. We just got takeout from the PP. roasted beet salad, Bibb lettuce salad, and bouillabaisse. Delicious!! Probably the best takeout in our area!!
