Bakery treats!
Mo J.

We loved Nonna's Pantry! We visited Grand Rapids for several weeks and stopped in here with a friend who is local. It was so good we came back twice! The quiche is so fluffy and delicate. The soups are delicious and the Pasta we got to go. Everything here is just really lovely. We enjoyed our lunches here, and the daily specials were so fun to look forward to. Always lots of fun flavor combinations and perfectly matched to the season. The workers were also very friendly and helpful with offering suggestions. One of our favorite stops and in such a cute little district!

Spring salad

Grabbed some food to go and that was chicken soup, spring salad and a Caesar salad for lunch. First Lunch: Chicken noodle soup - a 5. oh man.. now that is good soup. I needed to add some extra salt but not gonna bring down the score for that - to me that's a preference thing. Spring salad - a 5. Phenomenal salad. Had goat cheese, radish, egg, spinach, snap peas, and a amazing dressing - tasted like basil. I'm coming back just for this salad. Caesar salad - a 5. dressing is soooo good. The salad in general was great. Always love big slices of parm on a Caesar. Pecan pie bars - a 5. A great way to top off lunch. Just pure goodness. We also grabbed dinner which was meatloaf, crispy feta potatoes, Shepard's pie and farro salad. Meatloaf - a 5. Pure delicious. Can't say enough good things about it. Shepard's pie - a 5. All of it was stellar. The mashed potatoes on top w the melted cheese was creamy and the right flavor. The meat w vegetables was flavorful too. Definitely getting this again. Crispy feta potatoes - a 4. But not sure I'd get these again. Needed some salt. Still good though. Farro salad - a 5. A wonderfully refreshing flavor. Definitely will get this again. Our total was $140 for all this. So yes it's a little expensive but the flavors are outstanding. Definitely come get some of this delicious food if you are around. Even if it's for a coffee and a treat.

Vegan curry soup with rice and Rowsters drip coffee

Nice cosy little deli type Cafe with indoor and some patio seating. Good for a coffee and small bite while catching up with a friend, reading or doing some quiet work on your laptop when you need some time "out" from WFH. Friendly customer service. There can be a short line during peak times, but lots of fun pantry items for sale to look at while you wait. Small simple menu, I haven't found too many vegetarian items and would like to see more in addition to more combo item deals like soup and sandwich/salad. Coffee and dessert. You get me. Plenty of street parking in the area. Located in cute village of Ada. I REALLY like Nonnas but I find it a overpriced for what you get (and small portion size). Maybe because it is located in Ada?? I paid $6 for a vegan cupcake, for example (sigh) so I knocked a star off. Don't let that put you off. Stop by when you get a chance and share your review!

Okay - so just when I thought I had Nonna's soups narrowed down to my favorite two. This Kale, sausage and pasta popped up today.

Strawberry rhubarb muffin

A beautiful little gem in downtown Ada-definitely my go-to Barnett, cafe, and study spot in Ada! The pastries are consistently artisan baked goods. Although they're a bit pricey, the quality is definitely reflected in the quality of the food you get. Some of my favorites are the strawberry coffee cake (al the coffee cakes, really), the lemon poppyseed muffin, the chocolate chip pumpkin muffin (very filling and a bit dense), and the cranberry almond scone (a surprisingly good scone, with strong almond flavor, a great flaky texture, and cranberry bursts of flavor on the backdrop of a subtly sweet scone. Bakery items change daily, so there's always something new to try at Nonna's! The drinks selection at Nonna's is also quite nice--although I'm not a huge coffee drinker, I have enjoyed their mocha and other lattes and their lavender lemonade (which I believe was a seasonal item last summer). The ambience of Nonna's is also great-a bright yet homey spot with lots of wooden tables and chairs and wooden paneling and floors.

We had some goodies to go to bring to a group of friends. The scone, muffins (chocolate chip & lemon poppy seed), and a cinnamon roll were our choices. We all loved everything and stuff was gone so fast. The chocolate chip muffin was my favorite and it was one of the best I've ever had. My wife loved the lemon muffin and my buddy ate the cinnamon roll faster than ever. I can't wait to stop in and try more of their options as well as their restaurant across the street. When we are on this side of town, this will be our new stop to grab some treats.

curry chicken soup w/ rice and it comes with a biscuit. also a vanilla latte :)

i go here at least once a week for a delicious latte and some treats. the m&m cookie is a spectacular treat, a breakfast treat i recommend is the pumpkin choco chip and banana choco chip muffins. the staff is the most kindhearted and friendly staff i've ever met. sometimes i go here everyday- it's just too good!!! their specialty lattes are amazing although i love a classic vanilla latte. the soup is amazing with a home made biscuit. on weekends it's hard to find a table, sure, but you can if you wait a few minutes! this place is a gem. the star is the breakfast buns that are on saturdays only. they serve them with their home made dill ranch... and it might be my favorite thing i've ever eaten. so simple but so good. make this your coffee spot! you won't be disappointed. everything on the menu is great and the people and ambiance are even better. love this place more then i can express. 100/10

Nice little bakery with friendly staff and pic-worthy treats. Even the simple biscuit seems elevated here. The charm of a Sausalito breakfast place.

Even after…read moresending it back, it was still inedible--which was surprising given how simple the order was: scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, and pancakes. The pancakes were cold, as if they had come straight out of the refrigerator. The potatoes were soggy and cold and tasted like nothing but oil- no seasoning at all. The sausage was so dry that even drinking water didn't help and you could hardly cut through it with a fork. The eggs were initially runny on the inside and dry on the outside, which raised enough food-safety concerns that my wife sent them back. When the replacement arrived, the eggs were completely overcooked and dry and rubbery. She didn't finish her meal, and the waitress never seemed to notice that anything was wrong. Overall, while my meal was fine, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for quality food.

We stopped in on a work trip and needed someplace close by. Our server was dealing with a broken soda machine, half the menu not being available because the salmon was still curing as well as the steak or something? But, she was gracious and calm! I ordered the: * SMORGASBORD (grilled salmon, mixed greens, arugula, pickled beets, radish, whipped goat cheese, flax bread, herb vinaigrette) - supposed to be grilled salmon but they were out as mentioned so did grilled chicken. * POTATO WEDGES (salt and vinegar potato wedges, truffle aioli, scallion) - not very salt & vinegar-y but the wedges were cooked to perfection!

I've…read moreseen similar concepts in some of our nearby lakeshore towns, and I think it's a nice combination of retail/coffee shop/cafe. It has a European feel to it that I enjoyed. Nate and I stopped by on a Saturday morning to try some of their seasonal drinks and get a light breakfast. The menu includes some hot food items (breakfast sandwich and quiche) and a small selection of pastries. We got a bunch of things to share: banana bread latte, a breakfast sandwich, slice of broccoli ham quiche, and a cherry almond scone. Everything came out on a counter near the ordering area and they called out our name. The drinks were tasty but I preferred the robin's egg cold brew the best. The banana bread latte didn't have a lot of banana flavor; it mostly tasted like the spices you'd associate with banana bread. I really liked the food we tried. The quiche was one of the best I've ever had. I'm actually still thinking about it days later. The texture of the egg was silky and custardy, not at all spongy or dry. I thought it was divine but if you don't like that texture, it is not for you (flan-like). The breakfast sandwich was a bit bland -- I asked for hot sauce but they couldn't find any. I appreciated the texture of the biscuit, and the egg was also tender (not as custardy as the quiche). I don't usually like scones as they tend to be dry, but theirs was flaky, buttery, and delicious, with a very almond-forward flavor. I would definitely order more quiche and scones. There were quite a few people coming in for pickup orders on a sunny Saturday morning. If I lived closer, I think I'd come here often. I'd be curious to try some of their take home items or lunch.

I parked in the back of the building and there were plenty of parking spots. I had a cappuccino because I had to try their coffee. It was great! I got some other things to try - the Asian salad and the carrot cake. Both were very good. Salad had tons of chicken. And the dressing was light and fresh. Carrot cake was freshly made and the frosting was amazing!! They had some different options in their take home fridge - some chicken lasagna and curry chicken salad to name a couple. I would definitely love to try that chicken salad one day. This place was the perfect coffee shop/bistro. I wish I lived closer by so that I could try more!

Then they started disappearing and became harder and harder to find. So when I saw this location was close to the GRR airport, it was worth a detour to stop in and see if was still good. I found my coffee niche since the old days and it's a hot mocha with oat milk. So that's what I ordered and then came the questions. Milk chocolate or Dark Chocolate? Or Mixed? Whaaaaaaaaa? Then she said they steam the chocolate chips with the milk to make the mocha... whaaaaaaaaaa? No syrup or mix or powder... Sign me up for more! The nice woman served the coffee and there were two chocolate covered espresso beans in the little divot. Excellent idea! More chocolate and more coffee! The mocha itself was amazing. Their coffee was still smooth and silky on the palate. I enjoyed it during my long car ride after the flight! If you're not familiar with Caribou Coffee, I'd say give it a try because it's everything I remember about a good coffee chain. Don't judge them on their K-Cups if you've had those. I got one of those peach coolers along with a pumpkin white mocha cooler blended of course and a normal pumpkin cooler. All of which was immaculate. Starbucks and Biggbys has nothing on Caribou coffee. Not to mention they have an extra large size and they're more affordable than most of your run-of-the-mill coffee places I do however wish that they had a lot more options when it comes to their drinks whether it be frozen hot or iced there's not a lot to choose from and I like a lot of variety so seeing more variety in their menu in the future would really be nice especially with food as well.

There's plenty of parking in the lot in back and ample seating inside, more than most donut places I've visited. I was a little surprised to see a limited number of items in the case at 10 am on a weekday, but I still found some great treats. I got an old fashioned donut, chocolate cake donut with chocolate frosting and sprinkles, and a cinnamon roll covered in peanut butter frosting...! All the donuts were fresh and delicious. I think my favorite was actually the chocolate frosted cake donut, which says something because normally I prefer yeast donuts. The cake was fresh, not dry, and the frosting was the perfect level of sweetness for me, not super sweet. The cinnamon roll was decadent and very sweet, definitely an occasional treat. I got five donuts for $7 which I think is really reasonable. The items weren't labeled in the case so I had to ask the employee what a lot of them were. She was really patient and sweet. I'm giving four stars because of the limited selection, but I'm sure you'd have more to choose from if you arrived early enough. Sprinkles is a local shop that is expanding to more locations and I'm excited to see one opening up near my house!
