One of my fave spots in Grand Rapids. Their baked goods are so insanely addicting. No matter what you try, it's bound to be amazing. They do some limited holiday themed desserts, have their everyday offerings like different flavors of croissants, breads, cupcakes, cookies, cake pops and sooo much more including sandwiches also! The people working the counter are always so friendly! I always have a pleasant conversation with them. Some of my faves include their chocolate cupcakes, carrot cake (which is gluten free!) and their biscoff cronut. I try to get something new to me every time I'm there. They have a nice large parking lot so there is typically no trouble parking and people are coming and going quite quickly. Pricing is very fair for the quality you get. We always get a loaf of their garlic parmesan bread and will use it to dip in runny eggs, make grilled cheese sandwiches, or use it to make regular sandwiches (most recent being Thanksgiving leftovers)! We've also had some of their delicious sandwiches, cheesecakes, and always try to run in and snag one of their special weekend baked goods. Was waiting as I bought an item on Marketplace in the parking lot (what a place to meet) and I was early. Such a cute, old building, clean and a choice of bakery items. I always stop into Nantucket whenever I am next door for an appointment. Their bread is SO good! The cranberry walnut and any of the sourdoughs are my go to. Their dessert case is always enticing, I usually grab a cookie or something else sweet for my kiddos while I'm there. They offer everything from cakes, cupcakes, pastries, cookies, and more. They also off hot, savory options, as well. There are pizzas, flat breads, sandwiches, paninis, etc. They always look amazing! Love their selection of prepackaged items - crackers, breads, etc. So many options. They do have a day old table when you walk in, too. However, I'm usually too late when I get there around 1pm! This was my first time at Nantucket Baking. I'd heard so much about this bakery since I've moved here, and I decided it was finally time that I tried it. Well, honestly, I tried it because my friend saw on Instagram that Nantucket had just come out with a special pastry called Yuzu passion fruit. It looked so beautiful in the picture that we had to try it. I got a breakfast flat bread slice and they use a passion fruit. Let me tell you, I went at around 9:00 AM on a Saturday, and there was already a long line. Not for the Yuzu, but just for the pastries in general! The Yuzu passion fruit pastry was really good. It was so beautiful!! I could tell it was really well done and a lot of care and time went into it. Some thing I did appreciate was that it was not overly sweet. It was definitely was a unique pastry. The croissant was just a perfect touch of crispiness and softness. The colors made the pastry look so aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. I also got the flatbread slice - it had bacon, an egg, and other breakfast things on it. It was really filling! The bread itself was a nice texture and amount. I split it with a friend, and was still full after. Flatbread was $5, and Yuzu croissant was $8. Service was great - the people behind the counter were so nice and patient. Overall, a really nice vibe, and I can see why it is such a well loved place by locals. There is more like a drop by and pick up your food to go. I've picked up sourdough at this location twice, and both times I was thrilled with the quality of the bread. I appreciate the option of a half loaf, and the bread freezes well too. I'll preface this by saying I absolutely love everything Nantucket has to offer. None of their baked goods are even close to being "bad". But for this last visit for Fat Tuesday there were some pretty bad customer service issues and my order wasn't the greatest. What I got from this location - king cake. What I ordered - king cake, paczki, and some sandwiches (more on that later). I've never tried or even heard of king cake before last week. There's lots of different "versions" of it but they all have the same flavoring - cinnamon, orange, and almond. This sounded delicious to me but when I tried it none of the flavors popped. There wasn't much almond or orange flavor, only cinnamon was noticeable. The texture was fluffy but crumbly and dry. So, to me, this just tasted like a slightly sweet and stale loaf of cinnamon raisin bread. Once again, this is my only experience with king cake, so take that as you will. Come next year I don't think I'll be ordering this again. I also ordered paczki and some sandwiches well in advance. When I got to the bakery they only had the king cake and none of the other items I ordered and paid for. I had to have a pretty lengthy conversation with one of the staff members and pulled up the receipt with the correct location and date. After about 15 minutes they went back and checked some stuff and it turns out the order got sent to the other Nantucket location even though it showed the Fuller location for pickup. Oh well, it happens and wasn't the staffs fault. I just wish the customer service was better as the staff were getting a bit impatient and rude. read more

Now, after having your Mother's Day special croissant a week ago filled with ooey gooey lemon curd and topped with some sort of sweet creme and edible flowers...coated in simple syrup because, WHY NOT! Probably the best bakery in Grand Rapids. The only problem I ever have visiting here is that I want one of everything. I love popping in and getting a few pastries to save her over the weekend and I've also been known to snag a few of their baguette sandwiches for lunch. On our last visit, we were greeted warmly and I picked out probably the best donut I've ever had. I want to preface this by saying I do not like filled donuts. However, the honeycomb filled donut changed my entire perspective. Sweet honey flavored pastry cream piped in a perfectly cooked brioche doughnut With crumbled honeycomb candy on top. it's been a couple weeks and I am still daydreaming about this donut! Visited the pizza shop around the corner. Decided to stop in for a treat. The staff were super nice. Offered samples of a delish muffin -- blackberry almond. Of course, it worked and we bought it along with a peanut butter cookie. No seating, but the coffee shop next door has cute Aframe huts for paying customers to sit in. The koign amman seemed a bit inconsistent (some bites were better than others) but still very good. Cupcake was great. A few days later I went for the nutella croissant, which was divine, and a jam/brie/prosciutto baguette. I love this bakery (don't tell my sister in law - she owns one in NH!). I can't believe it's taken me this long to 5 star them, but I'm so glad to have this as my 100th Yelp review! I love that they're open everyday from 7a-4p and that they're literally on the way to everything. Am I heading to a friend's house? Oh ok I'll stop by and grab an assortment of pastries to share. Is it my mom's birthday and no one ordered a cake? Alright, I can be in charge of picking up a salted caramel cheesecake! Am I starving and don't want to cook at home? First time I stopped by this new location, as it looked like via social media that they may have more prepared desserts in the case daily than the other location, and I was looking for a birthday dessert for that day. I came at about 10am on a Saturday and was happy to find this was right, and they did have many options of desserts, no pre ordering needed! Everything looked amazing and I had a hard time limiting myself. I got a raspberry cheesecake which was I think a 6" size with 6 pieces and was $20. It was excellent- small but rich, tasty, not overly heavy. I also got a seasonal offering of a smores croissant and a chocolate chip scone, both very tasty! Nantucket is my go-to bakery for grab and go treats and desserts, and I don't think that will change! Nantucket is easily the best bakery in Western Michigan. Honestly the croissants and pastries are on par than any we had in Paris. The baguette's are the best I've had (except one, again in Paris). The cakes and cookies are phenomenal. It's the service I would like to call out. They are amazing. Just ordered a cake with Eleana, and she was absolutely delightful. Baking is a very tough way to make a living. You have to be up at 3:00 every morning, and you don't get paid a ton for it. It's a labor of love. I was excited to try out this place, I'm always up for a good sweet snack! We ordered 6 cupcakes, some cookies, danishes and a loaf cinnamon raisin bread! The cookies were great and definitely worth the price, however the cupcakes were very very dry and just not worth the hefty price tag. We also got a Apple and a cheesy danish, they were delicious! Nantucket Baking Company has a new location on Fuller just north of Leonard. They've actually been baking there for the past year, but the public retail section just opened last week. I stopped by on their first day open to check it out and was amazed by the size of the facility! It's huge, especially compared to their Lyon St. location. The space is bright, open, and airy, and I loved seeing all the delicious items on display. I came later in the day so some things were sold out, but I ended up buying a "very berry" which was a type of tart with a light mousse type filling on a sugar cookie crust, with some fresh berries and gold leaf. I don't know if I'm describing that very well, since there were no descriptions of any of the items, but I do know that it was light and delicious! Not overly sweet. I also got a huge brown butter sugar cookie, which is my new favorite cookie! I love sugar cookies but sometimes they're too crumbly or not flavorful enough. This one was neither - the perfect texture, chewy inside and a little crisp on the edges, with lots of caramely flavor. It was really big and I split both with my boyfriend over the course of a couple days. The employees at the shop were friendly and helpful! I wish they'd add some descriptions of the items so I wouldn't have to ask what everything was, including asking the person helping me to describe some of the items. I wouldn't want to take up a lot of time but fortunately it wasn't too busy when I went in. There are no prices listed anywhere really either, but I didn't care because I was so excited for my treats. I can't wait to go back for more delicious things soon! read more

I've been a fan of Nantucket for years. But their business practice was terrible recently. I placed an order online for pickup the following day. When we arrived there was nothing ready. We showed our receipt and the clerks really didn't know what to do. Finally I suggested they give us the bread and refund the rest. We left with the bread. I emailed them after waiting for a receipt It never came. I called and was told it would be sent. Hasn't happened. I looked on my credit card account activity. A partial refund was credited. Disappointed in our first visit. The customer service ranged from indifferent to hostile. No idea why, since we were the only two customers there on that Tuesday afternoon. We were not greeted, treated warmly or thanked for coming in, although we purchased nearly $40 of baked goods and left a tip. The baked goods themselves were of uneven quality. The bagel was delicious as the next morning's breakfast; the pizza was unpleasant and too spicy; the everything cookie was overdone and inedible; the Danish pastry was fine; and the almond croissant had too much almond paste. We are having the pecan square for dessert tonight with our fingers crossed. We likely won't return soon, or ever, owing to the lack of a welcoming environment. A real disappointment. read more
