Nantucket Baking hates to see me coming. I gazed lovingly at everything way too long before deciding what to order, and I ordered way too many things, and I left way too excited with my bag of sweet treats. (So, maybe they actually love to see me coming?) A great bakery will do that to me. I lose my ever-loving mind at a great bakery. I ended up leaving with several delicious goodies: a cherry Danish, a yuzu-cream-filled glazed donut, a Nutella muffin, an almond croissant and a chocolate chip scone. I wanted to try a little bit of everything that looked good to me, and share my sweet treats with my children, too. I expected the almond croissant to be my favorite, because almond croissants are usually my favorites. But the yuzu donut came in first place! I guess I shouldn't be surprised, because I love donuts the most out of almost any kind of food. The yuzu donut was citrus-forward, with just a hint of cream inside. The outside was soft and nicely glazed. My children loved the chocolate chip scone and Nutella muffin the most. I've raised scone and Nutella lovers. But honestly, I feel like you can't go wrong with anything at Nantucket Baking. There are so many things. Things like the things I mentioned, but also cookies, pies, quiche, quick breads, brownies, loaves of bread and lots more. The one thing that Nantucket Baking does not have is coffee or any type of beverage! They encourage you to go next door to Lyon Street Cafe to get coffee, which I did and I'll write about in a different review. I like that kind of brotherly love synergy, though! A bakery and coffee shop helping each other out is the kind of cooperative, collaborative vibe that I'm here for. Nantucket Baking has two locations in Grand Rapids, and this one is tucked into a cozy little neighborhood. It's literally surrounded by houses! You might think that the directions aren't taking you to the correct place, but yes, Nantucket Baking is indeed in the middle of a neighborhood. How lovely. read more

My daughter devoured the cookie butter cronut! We love the granola bars and get them nearly every week. The "day old" racks are great to pick up discounted items and they always have bread samples at this location! Love their polish rye and brioche. Ordered a custom cake - cookie butter - and it was delicious! Well staffed and friendly service. There is no seating inside but there are a few patio tables outside along the sidewalk out front. Next to Lyon Street Cafe, Martha's Vineyard and E.A. Brady's butcher shop. The service here is always friendly and I love looking at all the sweet treats and bread right as you walk in. I grabbed a cup of coffee from Lyons Street next-door and then I grabbed a bunch of different sweet treats. I got an almond croissant a frosted sugar cookie, a chocolate chip cookie, a coconut scone, and each of them were delicious. live had this bakeríes good before and they're ok but after my experience on Tuesday morning 06/16/26 I will not be coming back. this place is not wheelchair or stroller friendly and the staff will make fun of you if you can't make it inside and over the step. I was struggling to get my stroller inside over the step and the staff member stared and laughed at me then when I finally got inside she goes "yay you finally made it in" instead of staring and laughing she could've got off her lazy butt and helped me open the door, but didn't. I went to Nantucket the other day after seeing everyone I know rave about them! The bakery is right in a cute little neighborhood, allowing for easy parking all around. I'm always grateful to places that open before 8am for those who start work at 8 like myself. The bakery isn't very large and I don't think there were any indoor seating spots but it was FILLED with the most lovely breads, pastries, and more. When I entered, the staff was greeting some regulars and the atmosphere was just so uplifting and communal. I spoke with Marco who was so kind and personable and asked me about myself while I was indecisive about the bakes. I learned that Marco is actually a local artist that you may have seen around town under the name Gumball Monsters. Both Marco and another worker helped to guide me toward the banana toffee muffin and the Dubai chocolate croissant. Both were absolutely incredible. I'm not a fan of banana normally, but the muffin really worked to convert me over. The Dubai chocolate croissant was still very flaky and the pistachio creme had a great consistency and flavor. Neither dessert felt too sweet and both were well balanced and worth the price. I am excited to go back and try the breads and other baked goods! read more

When I lived in Grand Rapids, I probably visited this bakery at least once a week. It's phenomenal, and it's a shame there's only two locations, both in Grand Rapids. On my most recent visit, I stopped by to pick up a couple of my favorite pastries: Almond Croissant ($4.25) - The Almond Croissant from Natucket is what made me fall in love with this type of croissant. It's exceptionally buttery, fantastically flaky, filled with frangipane baked inside that isn't too sweet and has fantastic almond flavor, and then topped with additional baked frangipane and slivered almonds. The consistency and location of the filling is carefully placed so that it doesn't impact the proofing of the croissant dough too much - A lot of other bakeries, especially in the Midwest, slice a plain butter croissant in half, fill it, and then bake it in half. This croissant is artistry and is exceptionally delicious. (5/5) Strawberry Croissant ($6) - This was the pastry of the month, stuffed with strawberry jam and strawberry cream. It's exceptionally rich, with the taste of butter. It's quite flaky with great lamination. The squiggle of piped white icing on top is very sweet and the croissant is additionally topped with freeze dried strawberry and gold flakes. The interior filling has two parts - a strawberry jam and then a red cream mixed with cooked strawberries. Neither are as sweet compared to the top icing. The pastry layers hold up well to the fillings, and doesn't get softened or waterlogged which is a miracle given the diaphanous layers. The entire croissant is filled by the way of several holes on the bottom and is very filling and heavy. (4.5/5) Both the pastries and bread Nantucket bakes are excellent. I've never been disappointed in anything they make here. Some of my other favorites include: the chocolate chip scones, the bear claws, the kouign amann. I never fail to visit when I'm in Grand Rapids. Heck, I make the 2.5 hour drive to Nantucket once or twice a year specifically to pick up pastries here. It's that good and it's far better than any artisan bakery I've found in Metro Detroit. Some tips: Go early if you want the best selection. They start running out of some items in the early afternoon. The main bakery on Fuller typically is less crowded and has pastries until later in the day. It's more industrial and less homey and comforting vs. this location. If you're not that picky with the selection, go towards the end of the day, like in the 30 minutes before closing. They start bagging up the pastries and will offer their last items 2 for 1, or even 3 for 1. Everything they have left over when they close gets placed in the crates near the front of the store and get sold as "day old" the next day. My absolute favorite thing to get day old are the chocolate chip scones. I honestly can't tell the difference between fresh ones and day olds. read more

Picked up a birthday cake here and turned out so cute! Dug into it last night. Got the raspberry cheesecake torte, which was delicious. The reason for the 4/5 is because the frosting was not the kind that I like. I know - so picky! I prefer frosting that's extremely light. Dropped by on a Tuesday morning around 11AM and there was still a wide selection of breads, pastries, pies available. My friend and I decided to order the honey croissant (honey creme inside) with some sort of buttercream and sea foam on top and the kouign amann. The presentation on all pastries in the case was enticing, but I found the taste to be a bit disappointing. The honey croissant was a bit overly sweet for my taste. My friend and I agreed that we were happy we split as it might be too decadent for 1 person. I'm a big fan of kouign amanns, but this one was lacking the signature flakiness that I typically enjoy. The interior was nice and chewy but the exterior didn't have as much of a caramel sized sugar/crunchy texture that I was hoping for. Prices are high but dang, you're getting some really really really good bakes! I live on the south side of town so the fact that I am willing to get up early and drive all the way here to get my confection fix says something. I had their croissants, berry pie, cookies, quiches wow! It's all so tasty, they make everything with love! They sometimes have "day old" items that are discounted. Don't be so fancy, day old items are great and you can freeze them and save it for later. I've got my pies ready for thanksgiving My only tiny little gripe is that they don't serve things warmed up. I ordered a warm croissant so that I could enjoy it outside in their patio area, but they said " we don't have a way to warm things up". I'm as confused as you are reading this. Lovely little bakery! I went in on a Monday afternoon and there was still quite a selection of pastries and breads available. The girl working was very pleasant and helpful with offering recommendations. We got the coconut granola and the old fashioned donut. The granola is incredible! It's was the perfect level of crunch and slight sweetness that made it addictive. It's good both plain and with milk. The donut was a bit too oily for me so I wouldn't get that again but I will for sure be back for more granola and to try a croissant or cookie. Piggybacking off of my other review for Fat Tuesday - my paczki and baguette sandwiches order got sent to this location (no fault of the staff). Pickup was easy and the staff were very helpful and understanding. I absolutely love the interior of this location - clear display cases to see all the baked goods and it just has this "rustic" vibe to it. I ordered 4 paczki - guava cream cheese, raspberry, lemon, and chocolate custard. My favorite by far was the guava cream cheese. It had that classic cream cheese flavor with some mild fruity notes. The lemon and raspberry fillings were classic - sweet but tart. I loved the chocolate custard as well, it was light and creamy. The paczki themselves were so rich and sweet while being incredible light and fluffy. Very different (and better) than the standard paczki you can find in a supermarket. And the sandwiches! I picked up a salami sandwich (salami, garlic aioli, chimichurri, peppers and onion) and a brie prosciutto sandwich (brie, prosciutto, raspberry jam). Both were incredible! The salami sandwich had an amazing savory flavor and crunch from the sauces and veggies. The brie prosciutto sandwich was sweet and salty with a fruity aftertaste.
