Stopped in for breakfast today with my husband. I remember being in awwww over the omelet I had the last we were in. My husband suggested coming here and I agreed. It was a little slower but we did have to wait a minute to get seated. It was nice and sunny out so it was great to sit by the big windows. We got coffee and apple juice started while we breezed over the menu. I decided to grab the same omelet as I did last time which was the spinach omelet. I subbed the bacon for sausage. My husband ordered a side of biscuits and gravy and he was going to eat my pancakes. The coffee was ok today. It was really on the bitter side. I did add 4 coffee creamers and a packet of sweetner to it, it didn't help. I only had a half a cup through the meal. My omelet looked super tasty. There was a good amount of spinach to it. There sausage was crumbled sausage in it which is not my favorite. Next time I'll all for links instead. There was also a little too much cheese in the omelet today. I love cheese but I started gagging after a few bites. It was an overwhelming amount. The pancakes were on point today. The biscuits and gravy were good. I had a couple bites of each. Service was not the best today. Our server did great at first but we waited for a while towards the end for a box. She also dropped off our bill right after we got our food. That should have been an indication on what kind of service we were going to receive. As a past server, I never understood why servers drop customers bills off right away. I always found it to be rude. I'm happy we got to stop in. My husband enjoyed his pancakes and his biscuits and gravy. It's just a bummer that our experience this time around wasn't as amazing as our first. I don't know when when we will be back but hopefully it next visit will be better. read more

Inside out: easy parking both times I've visited, the inside can get incredibly loud and the decor and such isn't good or bad- just a breakfast place. Service: fast, friendly, no troubles Food: the food is excellent, I've split the veggie omelette and it's actually got a decent amount of veggies and cheese- they don't skimp. The pancakes are phenomenal of course! Over all: it can be very loud and busy, but that is because the food is solid. I would maybe say pick up to go on the weekends to save yourself the loud of dining in, but maybe the weekdays are more mild. read more

First time visit. Nice little place with about 20 tables. It was fairly busy at 9:00 on a Friday, but it would probably be packed earlier, being a locals hangout. Even with the crowd, it's fairly quiet. I ordered the Senior Plate, but added a second egg as well. The eggs were nice and soft, the bacon crisp and the pancakes were so light and fluffy. I love it here! Their senior menu alone is worth it if you are old enough! They are always packed, so plan on waiting...but the service is great. Worst experience ever. Young man at the check in counter told everyone that it was a 2 hour wait for breakfast today at 9 am. We counted 16 cars in the lot, 10 people in the waiting area inside and 7 empty tables in the dining room. Something is very wrong with this place. I can only speak to the Dutch baby and apple cinnamon pancake, and tell you that both items are 100% worth the hype. My husband and I came to Boise for a lacrosse tournament and I had heard nothing but great things about these items, so I knew we had to go before coming home. TOPH grew to be my favorite breakfast restaurant in Boise! The coffee is great. The dish I order is the green chili and pepper jack omelet with hash browns. And between you me, these eats is buttery. Showed up at 9am on a Saturday morning and expected a wait - 20 minutes was less than expected. Very nice hostess. Initially our server was wonderful but another took over that wasn't as friendly. It felt like we were needing service quickly to get ready for the next customer. I get it...this place is busy! Does this place have something against putting sausage in things? Original food was perfectly comforting at the end of a long week. Some pleasant mysteries include: How do the omelettes get so fluffy with all the fresh veggies inside; how amazing are the Dutch Baby -- lemon and apple are head turners and belly lovers; perfect and thick bacon with the best hash browns I have eaten since I was watching my carbs (well worth the breach). That all being said, my Mom and wife have made sourdough pancakes for me since I had hair on my head. Needless to say, OPH is a destination for me just for the sourdough cakes! They need to adjust the recipe on their 49er flapjacks! I've tried it twice and it's not good. I've been an OPH goer from another state for 15 years. Food is excellent. The portions are generous. I get the Senior specials. Today I got the 1st Senior Special. I got an egg, 2 thick strips of bacon and substituted hash browns for the pancakes. My friend likes the biscuits and gravy senior specials. She also had the Senior scramble last time. A lot of food for a low price. The hash browns are generous and perfect crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Not greasy. My other friend loves the pecan pancakes. We always get a few bites. They are so full of pecans. The bacon is amazing and the fresh squeezed orange juice is excellent! Today there was only one server. She worked hard, was very friendly and not stressed at all. The Original Pancake House On 3/25/23, KM and I visited The Original Pancake House in Boise, which is the only Idaho location. I had been before, but it had been several years. This was KM's first visit, which I found surprising because her family is from Oregon, which is where the restaurant originated. KM said they always went to Elmer's, which also originated in Oregon. Then KM told me she wasn't sure, and that perhaps she had been, but just couldn't remember. I looked at her with a smirk and said, "Oh, you would remember... And you wouldn't have kept eating at Elmers." I told KM I had been up into the wee hours of the morning late watching Tik Toks about The Original House in anticipation of our meal. I wasn't lying. KM and I both ordered the fresh, squeezed orange juice ($3.99), which we were told is squeezed in house and by hand. It takes between 5 to 8 oranges to make a single glass. KM and I agree that it's the best orange juice we've ever had. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs ($12.99). For my side, I got the pancakes. I also ordered a side of Bacon ($5.99), to share. KM ordered the Mushroom and Swiss Cheese Omelette ($12.99). For her side, she chose pancakes. She also got a side order of Home Fries ($3.99). OPH makes their Corned Beef Hash from scratch with a blend of Hormel Black Label corned beef, Idaho potatoes, and onions. Then they fry a 9 ounce portion in a skillet with clarified butter, until it is crispy on both sides. It was excellent! as always, the eggs were perfectly cooked. You can't go to OPH without ordering the pancakes. Like everything else, they're made 100% from scratch, starting with their homemade sour starter. The buttermilk batter is mixed by hand. The outcome is a light and fluffy pancake. KM and I both loved our pancakes. You haven't really had bacon until you have OPH's bacon. The first time I had it, I went down a rabbit hole for hours afterwards doing deep research, trying to understand what it was that set OPH's bacon apart from all others. As I told KM, "You can't get this bacon anyplace but The Original Pancake House." KM and I agree that this is the best bacon we have ever had. OPH uses six farm fresh eggs in each omelette. Most restaurants pour out egg wash on a flat top grill, put the ingredients inside, fold it up in a rectangular shape, and try to pass it off as an omelette. Ha! OPH makes a proper omelette, then finishes it off by putting it in an oven, resulting in a fluffy omelette. KM loved her Mushroom & Swiss Cheese Omelette. She also enjoyed her Home Fries. One of the things that makes the Boise location so special is that the owner Rome is always there, working alongside his employees. Today, as always, we had excellent customer service. I truly can't say enough good things about Boise's Original Pancake House. If you have never been, you need to put it on your to-do list. If you have, you know what I'm talking about. Never disappointed when we come here. In fact, the consistency, service, and quality are outstanding every single time. Today my partner had the biscuits and gravy with hash browns and pancakes. I had the garden omelette with pancakes. I tried the biscuits and gravy - fantastic! The biscuits are superb and the gravy is seasoned beautifully with just a hint of pepper at the end. As for my garden omelette, this isn't my first but it was definitely the biggest! Can you tell in the pic how gigantic this thing was? It's chock full of broccoli, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, and spinach. The broccoli is actually crunchy - not gummy or rubbery at all. I have enough left for tomorrow's breakfast. As for the pancakes, well, what can I say? Fluffy, cooked perfectly, with butter and syrup. We will continue going back no matter what the wait time, because it is well worth it. Compliments to every on staff, great job! BTW- To those complaining about seeing open tables while they wait - some people call ahead and get on the waiting list before they arrive, and those tables are held for them. Drove through Boise on our way to Malad for a wedding :) Doesn't look anything amazing but gives really good vibes. We went around 11am but love seeing all the older folks coming here- we got seated next to a grandma with her two grandsons :) Food wise- really good!
