    three empanadas

Was getting my car serviced around the corner and they recommended to try their food . So I walked over , even though I was full I tried the empanadas. The chicken one were delicious, I wasn't hungry but still had 3 . Service was fast and they were nice .

I give this place 2 thumbs down. First time there and they stop selling 3 golpes( 2 eggs, salami, and cheese) by 12 PM and I walked 17 minutes just to get that specific dish. Should've called first, but if it says the dish is on the menu and the times are not specified, you'll be doomed to waste your time. I left a copy of the menu below and I challenge anybody to take a look at the menu and let me know where it says certain dishes by 12 PM. Good luck.

A Dominican deli that serves fresh and tasty food walking distance from my job. I'm sold. 6 the Dali the kitchen is very small consisting of an oven/stove in the corner. They have more than one but it's very impressive what they can monster up in this small space. On a daily basis they have chicken and pork and plantanes, and rice as well. But every once in a while they add pasta, pepper steak and/ribs to their buffet. They sell different size plates that are all reasonably priced. You get a lot of food because they are very generous and have a scone style feel to their business you don't have to worry you about them weighing your food here so you get a lot for your money. They even make fresh salads. If you're really lucky they will have guacamole on the day you visit. The only thing I would not recommend even though it is yummy is the macaroni salad because it's leftr a lot and the Mayo can be off. The roasted chicken is juicy and sweet, the plantains soft with crunchy edges and the rice and beans collide happily together. The pepper steak is nice too although sometimes a bit dry. Mera's Tip: say hola and grab some guacamole.

Today was my first time eating there. The food was absolutely delicious. I will definitely return there in the near future and probably more often than I should. I ordered a quarter chicken dark meat, yellow rice and beans, maduros, and avocado. I left nothing on my plate. I never eat all of my food so this place really impressed me. Lol.The staff was also so friendly which made me feel welcomed. I can't wait to eat there again.

Location wise, it's in the middle of a very warehouse-y area and near some car dealerships only. Not a lot of foot traffic around the store. It is really a grocery store with a hot table to sell food. There are a few tables and chairs in the back of the grocery store if you want to eat there but it's not a full sit down restaurant. I would probably just do takeout at Espinal. They have different "lunch" specials everyday. You have to go see what they have on the hot table. The plates are usually $5 for a small plate and $7 for the large but it also depends on what protein you are picking. Fish costs a little bit more as well as a few other proteins but it all well worth it. On the weekend they have Arroz Con Gandules (rice with gandule beans) as a rice choice. On the weekdays it's just yellow rice and stewed red beans, besides white rice. So the "lunch" special is equivalent to what is a BLUE PLATE SPECIAL of the day. It doesn't necessarily mean it's just for lunch time. It is served all day. You get your choice of rice, protein, a side of stewed red beans and maduros (sweet plantain). If you choose Arroz Con Gandules, you will not get stewed bean as a side....it would be redundant. I love Dominican food and plan to come back again and again. Found a good Dominican place to get take out, yay.

Rotisserie chicken family combo with fried plantains, fried rice, salad and beans. Really good

Notes- Most dishes are a bit more, so see the photos, but not by much…read more I have been to this Ecuadorian restaurant twice at this point, though last time was long enough ago that even with my usual vast food memory, I barely remember what we ordered outside of it all tasting good. The most recent time was a few days ago, and it was excellent. The staff is nice, and the portions are generous for the price point, with two of us taking home leftovers out of the four people dining. To drink, three of us had shakes, or rather batidos, with the prices being $7 en agua or $8 en leche. I went with Lulo, which is listed as Solanum online, but really refers to naranjilla. As per the name, it means a little orange, but it is closer in flavor to a mix between pineapple and lime. Others had Maracuyá/passion fruit and Guanábana/soursop, and everyone enjoyed their drinks. They gave us some chulpi/corn nuts on the table, along with some aji verde, a lightly spicy green sauce which went with some of our heavier appetizers. Our heavier appetizer was two orders of the Bolón Mixto for $10. Bolon refers to a green plantain ball, and they offer the traditional cheese version along with chicharron, or with camarones/shrimp. The mixto combines the cheese and pork, and it was delicious, but very filling. One was more than enough, but we still enjoyed it, with the aji verde helping to reduce the overall richness. There was also the $6.50 Yapingachos/Llapingacho, or pan-fried potato cakes. These came two to an order and came topped with an onion and tomato salsa, along with some lettuce below. The potato cakes were a lot lighter by comparison to our other appetizer, but still flavorful. I would recommend them, as with other people who go here. Our smaller main dish was the Ceviche de Pescado for $17.00, or fish cocktail served either with rice or, as our choice, chifles or fried plantain chips. This was also available as a mixto, but I didn't order it as I have a pulpo allergy. There was a large amount of fresh fish inside for the price, making it very worth it. As with most ceviches, there was some sourness from the lime along with some fresh chopped herbs, onions, and tomatoes. It lacked a bit of heat I usually prefer, but I still liked it, and the whole thing was devoured quickly. Our other main dishes were all $19. My favorite of the bunch was the Seco de Chivo, with goat stew slowly cooked in home-made sofrito and beer, served with yellow rice, sliced avocado, and sweet plantain. The goat was cooked down until it was extremely tender, but still had a bit of chew, and there was a good amount of meat, even with the amount of bones in there. The broth was savory and mildly sweet, being warming, comforting, and perfect on top of the rice. This was excellent. For most of the other group, their favorite was the Chaulafan, a mix of stir-fried rice with chicken, beef, shrimp, egg, and veggies served with sweet plantain and avocado. The rice had a nice texture with some lightly crispy portions and was mildly salty. The meat inside was mostly very tender, regardless of what meat it was. This was excellent as well. The remaining dish was the Sango de Camarones, listed as a tropical dish and a purée of green plantains, slowly cooked in peanut sauce and shrimp, and topped with citrus red onions served with yellow rice and sliced avocado. The dish had a unique, almost gruel-like texture, which was a bit off-putting to some, but others like myself liked it. The shrimp inside was tender, and the dish felt a bit richer than the other mains. This was probably our least favorite main, but it was still good. We were quite full, but got some $7 Flan for dessert, which is in-house made. It wasn't overly sweet, which is my preference, and the texture was semi-soft. It was a good version, and the portion was large for the price. We liked this as well. Not many complaints here. Friendly service and good, reasonably priced food.

However, I have to give Morena's a less-than-great rating due to difficulties with the service and payment. When the server came to take my order, I asked about the lunch special specified on the menu, where it's stated that all main courses are available as a lunch special at a reduced price; I had seen that online and it was a big reason I decided to stop by for lunch. The server directed us to the counter with a hot bar of selected dishes (but not all of the main courses as the menu said) and told us that ordering from there consisted of the lunch special. Fortunately, the oxtail I wanted was there anyway. When it came time to pay, I expected the check to be brought to the table but I had to get up to go to the counter. The server gave me a charge that was higher than the lunch special prices on the menu, more in line with the regular non-special price. I asked to confirm if it was the lunch price (apparently yes) and if I could see an itemized receipt before paying (apparently not). I ended up just paying because I didn't want to make a fuss, but something seems to have gone wrong. Was the menu inaccurate or outdated? Was the server not fluent in English and didn't catch what I asked? Is this something they pull on people who they assume to be from outside the area? I'm not quite sure and I don't want to assume bad intentions, but I unfortunately can't recommend this restaurant based on that spotty experience.

The flavor was good and all but something was missing. I had the pescado a la parrilla and my friend had the rabo. The rabo was 10/10!!! But the pescado was ehh. The rice and beans though BOMB. The margaritas were great too! Maybe it was just the way they seasoned the fish. But I still recommend this place and say give it a shot!
