Growing up, my mom would ration my egg intake, to the point where she would make my eggs separate from the rest of the family's just so she would know that I wouldn't steal anyone else's eggs "by accident." In other words, I LOVE to eat eggs. However, I'm usually very disappointed when I eat eggs at diners or other food chains, though for some reason, it doesn't stop me from ordering them. So imagine my surprise and delight when I came across a sign that said OMELETTE FACTORY this past Columbus Day weekend while vacationing in Maine. With a name like that, they're either selling the omelette's dirt cheap or they crank them out like a factory. It's both. Thinking about those omelettess now are making my salivating glands activate into overtime. I ordered the lobster and swiss cheese omelette, and my bf ordered his usual, sausage, mushroom, and cheddar cheese, aka the Italian. The eggs were light and fluffy, the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. The omelette was BIG, and being the greedy Chinese girl that I am, I ate my whole omelette and 1/3 of his too. It was so DELICIOUS!!!! I don't know what the cook (who is also the owner) put in there, but my mouth was dancing like it was NYE 1999. It is by far, hands down, THE BEST omelettes i have ever tasted. Luckily, I went to Maine at the end of Ogunquit's beach season, so there was no wait, though I hear that the line is out the door during peak season. It is located modestly in the basement of a small building. The restaurant is small, with only 2 rooms, but it is very cozy, clean, and quaint with home-like decorations. The service staff was personable and amicable, as is most of the people we encountered in Maine. While chatting with the waiter, he told me the cook/owner has been making omelettes for 29 years! Practice DOES make perfect! The coffee was good, and they gave us some home-made banana sweet bread and some buttered english muffin. The prices are fair, though my lobster omelette was $16. But hey, its market priced, and what the heck, I was on vacation. The food was so good, it inspired me to start a yelp account JUST to write about this cute little place and its featured item, my favorites - the egg. As Enrique Iglesias would say, "Baby, I like it!" read more

GREAT food, ALWAYS worth the wait! Eaten here twice this week, and it doesn't disappoint -- Chef Bobby's cooking and hot sauce can't be beat! Under new management and there are some subtle changes. The only significant issue is parking b/c it appears that they lost half of the spaces on the south side of the building. Not a problem for small cars, but can be for trucks and big SUVs. We'll be back again soon! read more

The food was okay nothing to brag about. Almost $10 for an omelette is a bit much when it's an average omelette. The atmosphere was cool, waitress was a lil forgetful but very pleasant. We left a way above average tip. It was a lil packed for 4th July weekend! I wouldn't recommend. (Not a good value for your money) there several breakfast spots in any direction read more

Fun, down home, country atmosphere. Everything was delicious. Service was great in the staff was very helpful and friendly.

THE COOKS DO NOT WEAR GLOVES!!! The food was great however my stomach was disgusted with the "no gloves" policy at this place and also the portion did not match the place I think more people should give feed back that gloves would make u feel better about eating at this establishment!! read more

Omelets were great, staff was friendly. Will definitely be coming back. Would suggest the redneck omelet.

Went as a group of two and waited 30 minutes after putting our name in for the wait list and watched two groups who came in after us get seated before us. One was a group of two and one was a group of five that seemed to know the owners. We went inside to ask about it and they had skipped our name on the waitlist and sat the other groups first so we left. Unprofessional. read more

Yum!! Must visit for breakfast. Really tiny inside, that's the only downside. We got an omelette and stuffed French toast. Both were simple and delicious. Not my favorite place I've ever been to but it's tons of good quality food for cheap. read more

The staff is very friendly and we enjoyed it so much we went 2x. One of my favorite place in this town. read more

I think it was what I ordered...but I got more salsa then eggs. Gross. But, my friends was good. But safe. I'd say make the omelette at home. read more

The only place I would recommend over this place for any sort of egg dish is in my kitchen, ;) .................phenomenal omelettes at this place, careful though........You could drive right past it, on the ocean side of Route 1. The omelettes are large, delectable, and the people are very friendly here. There are more types of omelettes here than I can recall. They do get busy, but it doesn't take too long to get seated. I've been here about four times over the last few years, with friends, family, and alone. They always hit the mark with service and food. :) read more

Always awesome. The homemade jam is also for sale. Buy some. Always great service. I love the bean omelet. read more

Had breakfast here today and will not be back!!! Service was average and the place very small but the food and portions were not good!!!! Eggs over cooked toast burnt potatoes very little on the plate and no flavor at all... had to ask and wait for butter for pancakes that got cold!!! This place needs help!!!! At the time we were here you could see the other breakfast places busy but here was not read more

The corn beef omelette was very good! I would pass on the French Toast. It was soggy and was over done with the cinnamon. Maybe the stuffed one would be better. read more

Great place! We went around 8:30 with no wait. We ate in the back area with the sweetest waitress. She was friendly and attentive. The owner jumped in a bit and he too was friendly and polite. The food prices are reasonable and the food is delicious as well as hot. That's a must for me when it comes to omelets. The tables are close but the setting is unique. We'll be back. read more

Just plain awesome food! Everything was so fresh and delicious and you must try the chefs homemade hot sauce which is amazing! The staff is extremely friendly and inviting I will be going back every time I visit Ogunquit! read more

A really Awesome place the staff is friendly and the omelette a great , the strawberry jam is so good I always have to take a jar home and last the coffee outstanding....! read more

Amazing omelets. Lobster omelette was better than a lobster roll. The mixed grill was packed with meat. Small cute place with a 1/2 hour wait. It's worth it!!! read more

Place was very small, small tables, small coffee cups, but also a small check. Our waitress was friendly and service was speedy but my food did not impress me. I had two eggs over easy which were good, home fries which were slick with oil, and toast that was dripping with butter. Boyfriend got a very large omelet but he said he'd had better. read more

Delicious! Omelets are huge and so good! Their bread and jam is delicious! I wish their coffee cups were bigger but they refilled my cup often so not a problem! Left there stuffed until dinner! read more

Where does one begin lol ... the waitress was the best, she was kidding around and joking and very attentive . the food is great, fresh and well made ... the homemade hot sauce was incredable!!! all the omelettes come with a slice of corn bread and english muffin. cant miss with this little gem of a place. read more

Well worth the wait ! Although the Omelette factory is located on rte 1, in a basement of a small building, it is convenient with parking and close to all the hotels between Wells and Ogunquit. Even though I am not a fan of omelette's I was blown away with my meal. I had the unusual fare of an omelette stuffed with bananas, honey and cream cheese . Recomended by a very nice local. It was fantastic, the omelette was huge, but light and fluffy. Along with the omelette you get a sweet bread, (mine was blueberry)(Yummy!) and an english muffin. All for under ten dollars.Well worth the wait ! read more

Pros: Delicious, gigantic, perfectly prepared omelets with a huge variety of stuffings. Cons: Service is a little slack. Owner and waitress more interested in chatting than getting a check together or being sure a table is completely taken care of. Maybes: In a basement--once upon a time someone's rumpus room. Bright, but low ceilinged and cramped. On the menu, when they say "served with a slice of sweet bread" they don't mean thymus or pancreas--they mean cake. read more

Small in size but big in flavor! If you want the best omelette you've ever had I suggest going here.

I have been coming to Wells beach since I was a young child. For as long as I can remember I have been coming to this location because the omelettes are amazing. I now bring my family here and they all love the food here too! The staff works really hard to make your time here worthwhile. read more

Oh my gosh this place is amazing! The omelettes are so big and delicious there's no way you're gonna finish eating one at one sitting. They all looked good but the corned beef was so delicious along with the lemon poppy seed bread. Sublime! Top notch place for breakfast. read more

A little tight on the parking and on is the seating but this place has great home style breakfast and great staff that makes you feel welcome! And the omelettes are huge!!! read more

Small but a mighty selection of omelettes. Now I didn't have an omelette, but did have the french toast. It was okay. Not a lot of flavor, but the price was right. I did enjoy the coffee. The place is tiny and parking was hard. I do want to go back and try an omelette. Once I try an omelette I will submit another review. read more

What a fantastic find. While up for a quick weekend getaway stumbled upon this diamond. Small and quaint restaurant with a very homey atmosphere. Sat at the counter and ordered The Redneck omelette which was the best omelette I've ever had. The counter seats overlook Chef Bobby as he he prepares your meal. What a great seat to admire the master at work. Bobby is very pleasant and obviously loves his job because he was always smiling and welcome to pleasant conversation. I highly recommend treating yourself to a delicious breakfast if your up for a yummy omelette or homemade breads. read more

Went there today and as the previous review stated, the cook doesn't wear gloves welhen preparing food, not very sanitary. In addition, I ask if they do take out, the guy at the register said they do, have me a menu and then 5 minutes later when I said I was ready to order he said they don't do tanlke out until 11:30. Really!!! I stood there for 5 minutes as you sat there and looked at me and you couldn't tell me! This guy was not very accomodating or considerate. Not sure if he was the owner or not. read more

There is no shortage of great breakfast places in Southern Maine but The Omelette Factory stands head and shoulders above the rest. Hidden inside this unassuming dive is one hell of a breakfast cafe. Their world famous omelette are light and fluffy, courtesy of Chef Bobby's loving hand; their "sweet breads" are worth the cost of admission; and no visit is complete without taking a few jars of freezer jam home from your visit to Maine. And don't discount their Eggs Benedict which is the best in the region. As the long-standing motto of the Omelette Factory goes, "Have a good egg!" read more

This was my first visit to the Omelette Factory. I had one of the best omelettes ever! For me to eat an entire three egg with filling omelette it HAD to be over the top. The Omelette Factory was. I had the Greek Omelette. Very good ratio of each filling. We sat at the counter and watched the process. Great job guys! Don't get discouraged if the place seems full, ticket times are fast without sparing quality! I'd highly recommend and will certainly be back when I visit again. read more

If you like being cramped into someone's basement, getting unsmiling bad service, mediocre food and paying top dollar then please go to this place. You won't see us there again, you'll get better atmosphere, better service, better food and a fair price at Congdon's or the Maine Diner. read more

This was a delicious breakfast! The omelette factory was walking distance from the motel we were staying at. I had the burrito supreme the first morning in Ogunquit, it was so good we had to come back for breakfast again on the second day. Both days we were seated quickly and enjoying our breakfasts in no time. Definitely would recommend coming here! read more

Ya know? It's just ok. My food was NOT greasy. The portion size was good. The service was friendly (thanks, Karen) and the owners were nice. I'd recommend this places, yes, but NO place in this tourist town has phenomenal food that I've tried. On par with Maine diner, congdons, egg & I. It's all the same fare. If you want Benedict go to bintliffs if you want quiche or frittata-bintliffs, or, keep driving..... read more

We've come here for years when visiting. Hasn't been the same since they sold....Today we tried it one more time cold coffee, I asked for eggs over easy come out hard gross!!! Blueberry muffin had a hair in it ick!!! lost my appetite after that one. Sad to say we won't be back such a disappointment. read more

Pros: Really yummy omelettes! Like really good. I get the same one every time I go. I forget the name, but it has cream cheese, bananas and honey...so good. This is not a fancy place, but that's fine. The proportions are generous. Cons: The place is in a cramped basement, it's really small, so small we can't go if we have our kids, but then again, I don't think it's super kid friendly. The service is not fabulous, so don't expect it when you go. I don't like that they really only have strawberry jelly, that is a big con for me. The sweet bread is hit or miss, but I think it's based on your taste, I think they make different ones each day. read more

I went to this place while on vacation a couple times and it wasn't really the best place. There is not a lot of room, so you're a little squished. It's also a bit smelly. My pancakes were burned, but the bacon and orange juice weren't too bad. I don't plan on coming back here. read more

This is a hidden jewel...This was my second choice on this particular Sunday Morning..but man what a pleasure and what a breakfast experience.
