It was charming and cozy inside. I've been in the area over the weekend seeing patients in Sequim and Forks. I was so exhausted and hungry, since most restaurants in the area close really early and I didn't get to have dinner. There is a parking lot on the other side of the entrance or you can find street parking. It was a full house but I had no wait, which was nice. I already knew what I wanted which is my go to Eggs Benedict. This came with potato pancakes. And your choice of sour cream or apple sauce. I chose both because I like a mix of savory and sweet. Outrageously good! We were passing through Sequim on our way through the Peninsula and decided to get breakfast there. It was perhaps the best breakfast I've ever had. Not kidding. There was a decent wait time, about 25 minutes. And inside the restaurant was jam-packed (Sunday) but it was all worth it. Here is the breakdown: 5/5 Lavender Lemonade: Fresh, real lemonade, not too sweet, the way lemonade should be. 5/5 Apple Pancake (dutch baby): HUGE. Definitely shareable. It was a fluffy, warm, wonderful apple and cinnamon piece of heaven. Excellent choice. TIP: Ask for real maple syrup. The standard is not real but apparently, they do keep the real stuff on hand. 3/5 Blueberry Pancakes: This would have been a 5/5 except one of my pancakes was still raw in the middle. But the two that were fully cooked were excellent and brimming with plump juicy blueberries. The pancakes were fluffy and had crispy edges. 3/5 Potatoes: They could have used more spice and been more crunchy on the edges. They were somewhat soft all around and I like a good crispy-edged potato with plenty of seasoning. But they were still good. 5/5 Scrambled Eggs + Hollandaise: The BEST eggs I've ever had. They were light, fluffy, butter-basted, and so damn good. I added a side of hollandaise and that was THE best hollandaise I've also ever had. Okay. I see why this place has such high ratings. Soooo delicious. Food is like an experience exploded in your mouth in all the best ways. We ordered the salmon Benedict that comes with 4 buttermilk pancakes and shared it. I substituted one of the buttermilk pancakes for a potato pancake because it just sounded interesting. My husband is not a foodie but a hard critic when it comes to pancakes. Let's just say he has decided he has to come back to "investigate" these pancakes. LOL! Buttermilk pancakes are light and fluffy, made with sourdough. Smooth texture and just flat out delicious. Homemade creamy butter. Not sure if they put flour in it too but sourdough itself is FODMAP friendly, easier on the gut. The hollandaise sauce was smooth, creamy and savory. So flavorful. Eggs were poached perfectly, light and fluffy, with that perfect yoke consistency that isn't too runny nor too thick. They know what they're doing with egg poaching! Honestly, I could have just eaten poached eggs with hollandaise sauce lol. Service: is everyone in the service industry in Sequim just super friendly or what? Everyone was super nice and they are so accommodating to custom orders. They are known for pancakes and very flexible if you want to switch out or try a combo of different pancakes with your main dish. Our server was so sweet! We were curious about the difference between buttermilk and flapjacks and she let us try a sample of the flapjacks. They remind me more of a Swedish pancake, also delicious. Open for breakfast and lunch, this cafe boasts German, eastern European and American fare and a large menu. There are menu items I've never seen before. Everything is made from scratch; all the juice is freshly squeezed, there are no mixes, and it's family owned and operated. I saw that the Apple Pancake was being advertised at the top of a page. It advertised freshly peeled and cut apples inside a dough that's at least 3" tall and covered in a cinnamon glaze. I went for it. My friend got a more traditional breakfast. When our server asked if I wanted any sausage or anything, I ordered a side of sausage. Was that a mistake. Not because it was bad - it was really, really good sausage - but that Apple Pancake was a giant disc of fluff and fruit. I inhaled as much as I could, and my friend dug in too, and I ended up taking more than half and the sausage in a to go box. It takes longer to make, and the server let me know that when I ordered it. She also suggested coming back one day at lunch time and getting it served a la mode. My friend loved his food, saying it tasted amazing. The cafe is decorated to look like your grandma's house. Dark wood, antiques, and floral wallpaper. There's al fresco dining available. They sell some of their jam and other goodies in the front of the restaurant. We ate at the Oak Table Cafe twice for breakfast while we were in the area. If I were basing my review off the first time only, it would have been 5 stars. The second visit food wise for me wasn't as spectacular. I would rate the restaurant a 3.5 between my two experiences, but sadly we don't have half ratings so I am rounding up since the service was not an issue. My first visit, I got a half order of the apple pancakes. DREAMY, I tell you. I can't imagine what a full order looks like as the half order was three pancakes. Inside the pancake, there are pieces of fresh warm apples, and the edges are sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. The pancakes come with apple syrup freshly made on the side, and the combination of all these touches is heavenly. Our second visit, I ordered the Eggs Benedict. The meal comes with potato latkes, and how I envisioned it in my head wasn't how it worked out. The latkes were under the benedicts, and the middle was covered in hollandaise sauce which made them soggy. They also didn't taste like or have the texture of latkes I have previously ate. They were served with applesauce and sour cream. I think I ate two bites of that meal, and I definitely didn't take anything home. I am not sure why the benedict would be put over the potato latkes, but I wasn't a fan of any of it. My husband got omelettes both days and enjoyed them. The omelettes are very eggy. I am not into very thick egg omelettes myself, but if you like that this is for you. The items in the omelettes and cheese were distributed evenly which we are a big fan of! My husband is diabetic so he doesn't get butter on his toast. One day it was dry, and another it wasn't. The toast was replaced the one time it had it on it. He hates asking, but I know he needs some carbs so I don't mind asking. I ordered the fresh orange juice both times, and it was really good. My husband tried the coffee, but wasn't really into it. The service was great. Everyone is super nice, and my con was really food related. We met this one guy who seemed to be a local. He was talking to a few of the waitresses, and he was one of the highlights of our trip. A service man with a lot of wisdom and love for his country. That made of for my blip of food.
