What more amazing thing can I say about a restaurant than it has every kind of pancake waffle crêpe and breakfast pleasure you could desire. I kind of freaked out when I open the menu and saw the many choices for a pancake and waffle lover like myself. International types of pancakes you hardly ever see on a menu such as German pancake French pancake Dutch pancake, pecan waffles, silver dollars, peach crepes, blintzes, etc. The staff is so warm and helpful and we were able to sit outside with our dog. This is our third visit and I managed not to order the mushroom omelette (which was a difficult decision) and tried the Eggs Nicole with a side of their thick-cut bacon. It was every bit as good as the mushroom omelette. The service is stellar and everyone is so friendly. Really, it's a great way to start the day. We loved, loved, loved our experience at Oak Table cafe! The food was exceptionally delicious, but what we loved the most was our waiter who resembled Sam Elliott!!! He instantly made us feel like family and gave us yummy local berries with whipped cream, fresh mushroom sauce to put on extra crispy country potatoes with extra onions. Twenty minute wait for a table for two for Sunday Brunch. To be expected, as this place is busy. The girl that put our names on the list gave us that estimate, and it was accurate. The people sat next to us ordered food before we did. I had to flag someone down to ask for Syrup for my pancakes. I got a refill on my coffee once, and wasn't asked. It took over an hour and a half for brunch after we were seated. The pumpkin pancakes were good. The bacon was a little overcooked, and dry, but not charred. The eggs were cooked perfectly, which is a rare considering I order mine over-medium. The sausage was also really good. The coffee was mediocre. My wife loves a German Pancake, and said it was very good. The place was super-busy, and I expected delays, but I will say I didn't expect the VOLUME. It was really loud, there were lots of screaming children and slamming of things. While I'm not going to ding the restaurant on this, it made the long wait both to be seated and waiting to order and receive food feel even longer. All in all, the food is good, but I can't say it was worth the service, the busy, and the wait. I really enjoyed eating here! We went on a busy Saturday morning and just my husband and I. We were told wait time was 1 hr but we waited more like 45 minutes. They have several vegetarian options and gluten free options safe for celiac disease. Also their mocha latte was one of the best I've ever had. THe bacon, the bacon ,the bacon! I don't know where it comes from, but this place has the best bacon and they are not stingy with portions. Lemon Blueberry pancakes were on my plate too. Yum! We arrived shortly after noon and were expecting a long wait and slow service at best, but were willing to give it a try. Right off when we walked in there was a sign indicating they were only serving breakfast and that was fine by us. This restaurant was a bustling hive of activity and was fully staffed with a reasonable wait time for our food. There is one particular hostess who takes the drink orders and makes the drinks, they have mimosas. I ordered a fruity, sparkling mocktail, which was quite good. Our server was the most pretentious young person we've encountered in a long while. He couldn't explain the quiche special when he took our order nor fifteen minutes later when a group was seated next to us and they asked about it. I figured it's breakfast, how bad could it be. Sigh! Pretty bad. The quiche was overcooked. The cheese on top was brown. You know how the crust should be flaky, savory like any good pie crust? It was hard and overworked and the bottom was a bit soggy. I opted for the potatoes and they were mushy and actually burnt. Hubby ordered the bacon Swiss omelet which came with buttermilk pancakes. Pancakes served on a too small plate so when he poured on the syrup it ran off the plate and created a puddle on the table. The omelet was done in the French style but again it was overcooked and the eggs were tinged brown. We were puzzled because we saw these beautiful, bright, yellow, egg dishes come out of the kitchen and our food looked nothing like it. It was as if everyone else had a different cook. I might have mentioned the issues with the meal but our server didn't check on us until it was time for the bill. I tasted the pancakes and realized I should have ordered them. The women's bathroom is cramped because someone has decided that it is the ideal place for storing extra chairs, it definitely is not. Stay away from the quiche. read more

Our server had zero personality and it didn't feel like she wanted to serve out in the tent. But the 49er flapjacks were phenomenal with the lingon berries. We were only in Sequim for a short amount of time on vacation, but we were lucky to find this charming gem. Family owned, lovely atmosphere, and very friendly staff. There were a lot of regulars whom they knew by name. Not to mention the food was fantastic! We both had burgers as it was early afternoon, but their breakfast sounded amazing as well. The BEST food and service on the peninsula. This place has pretty much ruined breakfast for me when I travel because this is the place I compare all challengers to. The simple perfection that is the basted eggs and bacon, with buttermilk pancakes are ode to their skill. The French toast is so light and delicate it disappears right off your plate! Though I don't get them often but the potato pancakes and the German apple "pancake" (aka "Dutch Baby!" are sinfully delicious. They even have their own Rainshadow Roasters blend of coffee. The servers do a magnificent job of catering to both tourists and locals alike. Which is an impressive feat during the hight of summer tourist season here. 10 out of 10 would recommend! Okay breakfast spot in Sequim. Very similar to the Maple Bar in Walla Walla, which is owned by the owner's son. Menu is similar, if not the same, but the food is not as good. When we are traveling, we seldom go to the same restaurant more than one time. After all, the place you DON'T go may just be the most wonderful experience you never had because you were never there! Once in a while, we break our own rule when we find a place where everything clicks for us at one time. The Oak Table Cafe is that kind of place. The atmosphere, the service and the food were so good that we just had to make a return trip the next day. There are two main dining rooms in this charming place. Lots of sunny windows, comfy booths and tables and a country cottage vibe in the decorations. The windows above our booth were covered with shelves displaying pretty colored pressed glass pieces with stray sunbeams streaming through the lilac bushes outside. On Sunday morning after church, be prepared for a bit of a wait. But once seated, our server cheerfully got us started with juice and coffee while we went over the extensive menu. Hubby chose the French Toast Breakfast consisting of one slice of French toast, one egg, two link sausages (or two strips of bacon), coffee and choice of juice. He chose cranberry juice. The whole breakfast was "excellent", and you don't hear those words from Hubby very often, so I knew it was truly delicious. I ordered Corned beef hash with basted eggs and a large orange juice. It was very good and really much too much food as it comes on a large plate, nearly the size of a small platter. But is was also delicious. The restaurant was consistently busy the whole time we were there and the plates were flying by with one yummy thing after another. The most amazing was the Apple Pancake delivered to a table across the room from us. The young woman to whom it was delivered looked absolutely stunned when a large dinner plate was set before her bearing a concoction the exact size of the plate and at least 3 or 4 inches high. On our second visit, I did not have the courage to order an Apple Pancake, but I did get a French Toast Breakfast that Hubby had ordered on Sunday. Mine was yummy paired with their wonderful thick sliced bacon that comes from a local butcher. Second day's visit was as successful as the first. Visited Oak Table Cafe for the first time upon my buddy's very enthusiastic recommendation. Hell, I didn't need any convincing when he uttered those three magical words: "Bacon Bits Waffles." I loved this restaurant instantly even before we found a parking spot. Every little detail in its comforting exterior yelled HOME SWEET HOME. I was tempted to holler, "Mom, I'm home!" the second we stepped inside. I noted and appreciated all the personal touches the family applied to the warm and welcoming front lobby. Family photos? Check. Knickknacks galore? Check. Sincere smiles that greet you as you enter? Check, check and check. The tantalizing waft of pancakes and bacon cooking in the kitchen certainly did not hurt either. Oh my. Buddy and I ordered the Golden Waffle with bacon bits, and we shared a Mexican omelet. We were giddy like kids when our jovial server informed us that the omelet came with either pancakes or potatoes. Wait, what?! We can have pancakes AND bacon-bit waffles? At the same time? HELL YES! Bring on the refined carbs, baby! We could not contain our excitement when all our food arrived at the same time (see pictures). There was SO. MUCH. FOOD. The prices here may be above average for a family-style restaurant, but you definitely get what you pay for. Read the history and values behind this restaurant on their website. Everything is made from scratch and/or sourced locally. And you can tell from the very first bite! You know that light but discernible crunch you get when you drive your knife through a waffle the first time? When I heard that sound from my waffle this morning, I thought I also heard a choir sing. Crunchy waffles cooked from homemade mix instead of yucky boxed crap? Yes, please! And the more-than-generous dollop of crispy bacon bits that did not come from a resealable bag? HOLY COW (or PIG?). I need to wax poetic about the creamy whipped butter that sat daintily in the center of my lovely waffle. The smooth and warm maple syrup that elicited a small gasp of delight as I poured it gingerly over my waffle and thick yet fluffy buttermilk pancakes. The hefty Mexican omelet that was stuffed with peppers, onions, tomatoes, cheese (we opted for Swiss) and juicy chunks of ham -- and topped with a sweet yet tangy sour cream/salsa sauce. But I worry that I may run out of words to describe the wondrous intensity of our return visit three hours later because we wanted fruit blintzes as our midday "snack" (see other pictures). Indeed, we became such hardcore fans after one incredibly satisfying brunch that we felt compelled to return for a second meal. The legit justification: "We just biked 10 miles at ODT; we need to re-fuel, man. With sugar. Lots and lots of sugar." Our strawberry blintzes and peach blintzes most certainly exceeded our expectations. As I reach the end of this review, I am not ashamed to admit that I have the cafe's menu PDF opened because I am already planning on what to eat the next time I am there. Oak Table Cafe is a staple of Sequim - you've got to try it at least once. The food here is great - fresh, not greasy, and the juice is hand squeezed. My favorite food here are the Fruit Blintzes. Unfortunately, the quality of food here is overshadowed by very high prices. For that reason alone, this really a place only worth going to on special occasions, unless you've got money growing on trees. The service here is nice, and so is the atmosphere/decor. Expect to see older folk dining in here, this seems to be their haven in Sequim. I recommend you check the place out when given the chance. read more

I am going to have to move to Sequim just to save myself all the ferry charges, coming over from Seattle! The reviews for this place are NOT overstating things. This may be the best breakfast I've ever had. I can say with certainty, their buttermilk pancakes are the best I've ever tasted, bar NONE. And I've eaten a lot of pancakes in a lot of cities. I was lucky enough to be with family, so we got to do quite a bit of sampling. We had the Eggs Benny (delicious version of the traditional Eggs Benedict, but with sausage and mushroom gravy instead of the usual). We had the Eggs Casey (delicious, but can't remember the details). And possibly my favorite, was the Eggs Nicole which had perfectly done eggs, spinach, onions, mushrooms and hollandaise over a croissant....just unbelievably tasty. Never had anything like it. Two of those dishes came with thin, semi-crispy potato pancakes, which were, again, some of the best latkes I've ever had. I believe those scrumptious buttermilk pancakes came with the Eggs Casey, which I don't see on the menu on Yelp or on their website, but trust me...that was really good, too We were so full, we didn't even have lunch while we were touring the port towns. I seriously wanted to go back and see if their dinners could possibly hold a candle to their breakfasts, but we had a ferry to catch. Next time, we'll remember to just split a dish. Soooo much food! We are SO going back there very soon! Maybe combine it with a movie at the Firehouse Theatre in the same location. Looks like a charming place, too. Fun, homey decor. VERY nice wait staff.
