We are in town for just a couple of days. Searching yelp for a place to eat, we came upon this wonderment! The owner and staff were super friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. The food was literally to die for. Loved the atmosphere! Everyone in my party was happily full and greatly enjoyed their meal. I do not understand this place. Food while it is hot is not very good. Uninspired and not Cooked well or correctly. I can't imagine how the reviews are so great. Service is ok. Poor atmosphere, strange layout and sub par food. Fuck local make something great and if it's local ingredients all the better but to say well here is some overcooked fish and you should like it because we are extremely impressed with ourselves is not my style. If you're looking for an a dining experience in Augusta, ME. This is the place. It's a small venue, so make a reservation ahead of time! The menu changes every day, all prepared with local and fresh ingredients. We went for dinner and it was a 4 course meal, the presentation and flavor of each dish was outstanding, the chef here is very creative and takes her work with pride and excellent execution. It's the perfect restaurant for a date or to go and chat and eat throughout a good amount of time. No fast food vibes, the food comes as it's prepared, you don't get everything at the same time (unless you ask) which is great for a dining experience. We spent probably 2 or more hours, having drinks, chatting and being served amazing food. The customer service was awesome too! read more

Warmed beets and goat cheese, potato less gnocchi, pumpkin bisque with apple and a splash of vinegar drizzle, flak steak atop shiitake and caramelized onions. For an incredible $49 fixed price. I found The Oak Table on yelp when trying to plan for my bday dinner last week and I'm thrilled we went there. My dad, aunt and I went for my birthday and we haven't stopped raving since. We did the chef's table, which at first my aunt was hesitant about since it was a bar height counter. But being able to interact with Chef Whitney and watch her do her magic was a blast. My aunt is already making plans to take her daughter and son in law and can't wait to do the chef's table. All of the food was delicious. I especially enjoyed the gnocchi, grilled peppers, and the lamb. There's also a great drink selection. I had a watermelon margarita and it was fab. Eli, the owner, was bartending and was a pleasure. The ambiance in the restaurant was intimate and pleasant. My dad was thrilled with the spotify playlist they'd picked which. The three of us did spend over $200, but solidly half of that was drinks. You know when you serendipitously find a place and know you've landed in precisely the right spot? This is what happened to us at The Oak Table. Just walking in soothes any COVID-ravaged soul, with good music, plants and friendly staff (owners)? (This was our first fine dining experience since Spring 2020). Menu changes daily but we had: oysters; grilled lions mane mushrooms; corn fettuccine; sweet pea salad; scorched Camembert; and the rib eye. Every single one was a homerun. The rib eye brought tears to my eyes it was that sublime and my sister thought about ordering a SECOND Camembert. There's outdoor dining and staff is vaccinated. After decades looking for the real deal in Augusta, we found it. The Oak Table isn't cheap but 100% worth a splurge. read more

We were here for Homecoming at Colby. This restaurant is the best kept secret. Chef Eli has only been open 4 months. We did the Chef's table. I recommend this option as you get to converse with the Chef and Kyle. They are super funny and outgoing. We started out with cocktails which were excellent. Our party of three tried different dishes. Beets with goat cheese and pecans, Opus 42 local cheese with apples and apricots, lentil soup with sausage, steamer clams in a cream broth, oysters, halibut, short ribs with a mushroom sauce over purple potatoes, and pork belly over squash. Every dish was perfection. Service and presentation were excellent. Also, the menu changes as to the seasons and the Chef's whims. This is not your hum drum same old same hamburgers and pizza type of place. If you want fabulous food then this is the place for you! This restaurant is the best restaurant around. read more

Just finished an amazing meal at Oak Table in downtown Augusta. Four couples dined at the chef's table and experienced varied courses of delightful and creative dishes. You can order the chef's 4 course menu or pick and choose from the daily a la carte menu. Sharing plates was encouraged Everything we ordered was delicious. We especially enjoyed the halibut and warm beet salad. It was entertaining watching Chef Eli prepare, not only our meals, but food for the entire dining area. Kyle was at the bar busy mixing inventive cocktails and also helping Chef Eli with the serving. They were a great team. We all agreed this was the best meal we have experienced in the Central Maine area. I highly recommend adding Oak to your list of must visit restaurants. Be sure to make a reservation for the chef's table which only has two seatings a night. read more

Amazing fresh and individuality prepared dishes. So good. The chef prepares your dish in front of you and turns around presents it to you still steaming. If you want a seat at the chefs table make a reservation. You won't be disappointed. They may run out of certain dishes only because they do everything super fresh and sometimes they 86 some dishes like the scallops. Don't fret this issue, it just means the place has farm to table fresh food. Definitely worth it. Oh yes this guy gets it, it's about the taste. read more

However when we mentioned that the prime rib was fairly gristly, the owner who was also our server didn't offer anything to amend the situation. (a small discount or replacement meal is customary and would have been appreciated) Restaurant was very understaffed (just owner and chef who was also food running) and we spent around 2.5 hrs at the restaurant total. Everything served was farm to table, fresh, and delicious! The braided bread is made on site and the entire experience was wonderful. One of the BEST meals I've ever had. The 4 course Chef's table is the way to go, Chef Eli will not disappoint! Not to mention it's only $49.00 and the plates aren't just 3 or 4 bites either. This new addition to Downtown Augusta is a gem in the raw. We checked it out in a Saturday night on the later side of dinner time. We did not have reservations but was able to get a table in bar area right away. Place was relatively quiet & ambiance was subdued. Bar is beautiful oak and area has nice oak accents. Wine list was adequate but the white chosen was not available. Essentially there are 2 menus, a tapas menu for main restaurant and bar area and a menu for the "dine with chef" option which was a full dinner menu (so I was told). To get this menu & dining experience, reservations are recommended. We ordered off the tapas menu. The food was very good and we were served each order by the chef. Restaurant is pricey for Augusta but if the food we had is an indication of the full menu, the food will be excellent. Will definitely go back again but make reservation for the chef experience. Would like to try happy hour too. Great to see some new dining experiencing in Augusta and upgrading the dining scene from pizza and chain restos. Our waiter was good but due to quiet crowd, attention could be better. read more

We tried this out on a Wednesday night. Reservations are strongly suggested because seating is limited. There are two tables for 4 - one being low coffee table height with a bench and 2 chairs. One other low table with seating for two, a bar with 7 or 8 stools, and another bar in back, facing the open kitchen - with perhaps 6 or 7 stools. There were some interesting beers as well as creative cocktails and an adequate wine list. Food is a la crate and very nicely prepared and presented. I had the scallops and my husband ordered the steak kabobs. Both were very good. However, portions are appetizer size, which we weren't prepared for. And we are not big eaters. My $19 plate consisted of three smallish sea scallops , prepared with sautéed radishes and a couple of leaves of escarole. Tasty but not enough. My husband fared a bit better with 2 skewers of steak kabobs and mustard sauce. Perhaps we should have ordered the risotto to supplement our dishes. Next time we will know better. I will try it again, but will make reservations to sit at the back bar and watch the chef! If you have a really big appetite, this isn't the place for you. If you enjoy a quiet setting and like to watch your food being cooked while sipping your drink and gazing out at the Kennebec River, give it a try! Just don't arrive ravenous. read more

I finally had the opportunity to experience a sumptuous meal at The Oak Table and Bar. It was worth the wait! Chef Eli effortlessly created, plated and presented remarkable culinary delights that can be had nowhere else but at the Oak Table. We started with a delicately dressed, perfectly balanced summer corn salad with arugula and crunchy, spicy mild chilis, dappled with tiny gems of fresh sweet corn - it was ambrosia to a veg-o-holic like me. We moved on to melt-in-your-mouth mushroom crepes - fresh local mushrooms with melty gorgonzola happily blanketed in a delicious light crepe. Then the ante was upped with a homemade pasta with perfect bite, sauced lightly with a fresh local heirloom tomato butter sauce and dusted with pecorino for a perfect zing. The piece de resistance truly was the marinated flank steak. Perfectly cooked and sauced with piquant salsa verde and sweet cherry tomato over a perfectly cooked polenta. Bar Master Kyle provided truly unique cocktails, expertly crafted and appropriately flavored to enhance the experience of Chef Eli's remarkable offerings. The entire experience was sheer delight and I am only sorry I live 3,000 miles away and can't let Chef Eli feed me every night of the week! read more
