    Ground Beef Quesadilla
    Marshdeleen H.

Wasn't informed the ground beef would have peppers and onions in it (kids normally order ground beef american quesadilla/tacos so they were not happy) its not on there doordash also isnt seasoned well the beef just taste like peppers. Most importantly i found a hair in my quesadilla (in the photo i attempted to take out as much peppers and onions but it almost took me an hour)

Wife almost choked on a bone in her enchiladas... Why would a bone be in her enchiladas? I don't know. They gave us a $3 discount and didn't even sound concerned. Won't be going back.

We have ordered from y'all a few times and like the food although it's a little overpriced. But it's tasty and not a lot of Mexican options around. Today we ordered on uber eats and my shrimp burrito which was $20 because I added avocado was literally half the size or less of my husband's burrito. There has never been such a size discrepancy between different types and is absolutely ridiculous. If I'm gonna get half the burrito it should be half the price.

    Elote in a bowl

Great find on Yelp! Parking on site is limited but not a deal breaker given the quality of food. The decor is fun/casual and our server was super friendly. We ordered the Sampler, Nachos, Elote (in a bowl), and a burrito with chorizo. The wings that came with the Sampler were SUPERB and our food was cooked perfectly. We will definitely be returning!

    Al Pastor Burrito

One of the "secrets" of business has to do with core competencies. Find something you're good at, and keep doing it. This place had a thing: great food. I'm saddened to say that on my last visit, the food has taken a turn to the worse. I was able to try an Al Pastor burrito, a steak taco salad, and their homemade hot sauces. While burritos are filled with all sorts of different ingredients, they are supposed to be a symphony. Everything is supposed to melodiously, shining through just enough. This burrito was however a cacophony. First, there was a disproportionately large amount of beans and rice, which were not at their freshest. This made the overall texture quite mushy. Additionally, worse than that it meant there was little room left for veggies and proteins. Second, the meat that was in there was not Al Pastor, there wasn't a hint of pineapple I could pick up on. Even if they made a mistake and put something else in there, the meat by itself wasn't great. It was on the bland side, and also had a mushy texture. It was as if this had been lying at the bottom of a hotel pan, since the day before. Third, you have the veggies: in the mush the only thing I could pick up on was some lettuce. As with everything else, while not wilted, no at its freshest. Finally, there's the last two nails in the coffin for this sad excuse for a burrito... I paid some extra for cheese and guacamole. I was able to find some cheese, but there was so little if I didn't see it, I wouldn't know it was there. Worse, the guacamole was nowhere to be found, I could neither see nor taste it. Then, there's the steak salad... This one was better than the burrito, but also not without its issues. The bottom was of the salad wasn't just moist, but wet. This is most likely from the lettuce, which was crunchy, but felt as if it just got out of a pool. If this were dressing that would be one thing, but it was water. Steak was fairly good, maybe just a hair overdone. Didn't have any issues with quantity here. Finally, the home-made hot sauces: With the exception of the red one, these were great. The red was supposed to be the hottest, but to my taste it was rather mild, and lacked a distinct flavor). The pineapple one was great, it had great heat, and just the right balance of acidity and sweetness. Finally, the tomatillo one was pleasant too, medium heat, and great flavor Finally, even though they have one of those dish heaters, it was quite chilly in here!

While the inside is very cute and our waitress was lovely, we were served stale nachos to start and then our food was very average (shrimp bowl and shrimp tacos). I had high hopes based on others' reviews, but I was very disappointed.

Came here from a recommendation of a friend and am very happy I did! The street corn was good and I could tell they boiled it in a broth rather than plain water. I had the shrimp burrito and could only finish half as it was incredibly filling and tasty. My friends ordered the tacos with both the soft and hard shells and found themselves full two out of three tacos in. We had to try to the churros while we were here which were serve nice and hot along with a side of Nutella. Glad to have found another local Mexican spot!

First off I think everyone should know that even if you are a party of five they automatically add 20% to the check. At least that is exactly what happened to us. We came on a Monday around 4:00 and the place was empty except for one other customer. The service was painfully slow but the food was really really good and they accommodated vegan and vegetarian diets. The fried ice cream was yummy. There is an ebb and flow to good service and that was not mastered yet. We do not like the fact that they added a 20% tip to the check .... Especially when we were only a party of five. The service was slow and we should have had the option to tip accordingly. We are usually chronic overtippers so they actually hurt themselves by charging the 20%..... Not helped themselves.

Food was just okay. The food lacked flavor. Guacamole needed salt and the rice and beans were lacking seasoning as well.

Nothing on the menu or from the server mentioned that, which was disappointing right away. When I told the server I didn't like it and wanted something else, he literally tilted his head and said, "ummm what do I tell the bartender?" That honestly rubbed me the wrong way -- just felt unprofessional and awkward. Jenny got a tequila cosmo, which was fine, nothing special. Food-wise, everything was just average. The bao buns were overcooked and the bun fell apart, though the flavor was decent. The pineapple fried rice was probably the best thing we had, but even that was just okay. We also had dumplings -- Jenny liked them, but I thought they were just alright. Dessert was the biggest miss. The blueberry cobbler was not good at all -- maybe a 3/10 at best. One thing that really didn't sit right was when we asked to split the tasting menu and were told no. That doesn't make much sense -- if people want to share, especially for a tasting menu, it should be allowed. Overall, nothing stood out in a good way, and between the service and the food, solid ambiance , it just wasn't a great experience.

Nothing more annoying than a review that starts with "I'm from Texas/California and I know Mexican…read morefood" blah blah blah shut your trap. No one cares. But guess what? I'm from LA and also spent most of my life in NYC and I know what good Mexican food tastes like.... And guess what?! Howling Wolf might be the best Mexican food on the east coast. Sure, it's a little pricey ($19 for a burrito?! Really?) but I didn't eat in the restaurant so I can't speak to the level of service or detail that comes with that price. I did take out. I f***g hate take out but we were passing through Salem and it was cold and the gf didn't want to eat out. This is really amazing Mexican food. I got the steak tip burrito. 9.5 out of 10. Gf got quesadilla (with carne asada) and I noticed another diner said it was soggy. I disagree. But JUST order the steak tips. Next level. Absolutely loved it. Salsa - very acidic but delish. They also gave us enough for two meals. Guac, solid. Needed salt - but that's not a crime. Only criticism- no one greeted me when I came in. I worked in the food biz and I believe staff should acknowledge you exist within seconds if they aren't greeting/seating you. I waited for a bit and finally someone figured it out. But ya know what - who cares about that when the burrito is this good - best $19 ever spent. Howling wolf - congrats. You've done the impossible. You made good Mexican food in the North Shore and converted a food snob into a believer. Wolf people, I love you. I will howl at the moon and sing your praises forever. Keep doing gods work.

When it comes to Grilled Fish Tacos, I am beyond anal with my expecations of what I expect to receive, for most places will serve the dish over cooked and beyond dried out. That is not at all the case at Casa Tequila! After at least 5 to 6 visits in the past year, and ordering the same dish each time, and I can truly confirm that this place is consistant, with their quality ingredients and overall passion for their menu. The service has always been a pleasurable experience and feels very much like everyone who works there is family. We love eating here, especially on their patio in the Summer months and look forward to our next visit as soon as we pay our bill for the meal we just so very much enjoyed.

I got the chicken tacos and they were very basic; looked like the shells were Old El Paso with iceberg lettuce and a cheddar and Jack cheese mix. Cute atmosphere in the building, it's possible we hit them on an off day, but I don't think I'd go again with so many other great food options in town.

I'm honestly surprised by all the good reviews, do y'all not have tastebuds?…read more I love tacos. Love is an understatement. This was so off putting I refused to finish a taco out of my 3 taco meal. Played it safe, got the ground beef. The taco was greasy despite having the double tortilla layer which it had soaked through. The taco meat was very bland and there was a funky sweet taste to it, maybe because of the chipotle aioli? No cheese. No hot sauce. Between the texture and the taste, there was no way I was able to get past a couple bites. I thought the chips and salsa would be my saving grace, however there was zero salt on the chips and the salsa was just their pico de gallo. The pico was super watery and tasted like bland tomato water. No salt or flavor in there either. In addition, you can get a pretty good idea about a place's cleanliness based off what you can see going on in the kitchen. The cook was wearing gloves while scrolling on his/a phone and didn't change those gloves to make our food. Additionally, he went to the restroom with the gloves on and while he wasn't wearing by them when he came out, but it wasn't long enough thoroughly wash your hands. The staff were sitting on the stainless steel counters where meal prep is done. Just not a place I feel comfortable eating.
