Came on a Sunday and was the only group dining inside, which is totally wrong considering how great the food is. I had the supreme burrito with steak, which is a generous portion served on a plate that comes out with crispy, melted cheese across the entire burrito. It's a fork and knife meal, and the first cut reveals a blend of yellow rice, refried beans, marinated steak, guacamole, pico, and a cream sauce that is 10x beyond sour cream in texture and flavor. Every bite was delicious. Chips and salsa are provided for the table when you arrive. Good selection of cocktails and bottled beers, which are perfect partners for many of the entrees served here. Do yourself a favor and make sure you swing by El Jalisco anytime you're near Beverly. Was not impressed by this Mexican restaurant. Stopped here on the way home from the beach, was most looking forward to the spicy margarita. The margarita had a fresh taste, little sour mix in it, and the right amount of spice. Unfortunately can only order by the glass, and not the pitcher. For dinner we ordered both the steak and the chicken tacos, and the queso dip. Everything was a little lack luster- just basic tacos and dip. There was a huge communication barrier between us and the waitress, and it made ordering any food and drinks very hard. The outside eating area was an old picnic table, that definitely needed a little work (the inside of the restaurant was not much better). The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I can't eat red meat and they gave me a steak burrito when I asked for chicken.i ordered 2 , one of them was fine , while the other I Didn't realize until later when I went to eat it. They asked me to bring it in. I guess they didn't believe me so I brought it back. They did replace but of course threw that one away (I could've gave to my son or someone). I feel blessed. This crummy little town of Beverly mass has two kick ass Mexican food joints. When I want a steak burrito / this is the motherf*g spot ! Live in Beverly and never tried it, but had seen some pretty appetizing photos on social media, heard generally good things, and liked the atmosphere of previous restaurants in this cute little space. But we got there about 7:30 and not only were there only about 3 other parties in the place, but it was lit up like a take out joint. Just way too bright for a comfortable dining experience. This was a very authentic Mexican restaurant, the steak, chicken tinga and carnitas were all delicious with generous portions---and had the option of cilantro and onion on top --which is typical in parts of Mexico. The complimentary chips came with salsa and bean dip -they seemed homemade. The street corn was also great. We enjoyed the decor inside, as it was festive --it was also kid friendly. The initial salsa and bean dip was nice but didn't have much spice. The enchiladas barely had any sauce on them and the rice was pretty flavorless. I had the chicken fajitas and the fixings weren't great but the chicken, peppers and onions were so that is a plus. Marvelous restaurant! We had a burrito a chimichanga fish tacos and chicken fajita salad. All were great with very ample portions. The leftovers were devoured for lunch the next day. Only criticism is the salsa that comes with chips is thin and is served in a container that makes it hard to dip.Aside from that, it is a place we will return to again. read more

My wife and I came on opening night. It was understandably a little hectic but the staff did their best and all things considered did alright. The food was pretty yummy, we both had enchiladas - the beans were pretty salty which I liked but my wife didn't. There wasn't a red sauce on them like we are used too (see photo) however, they still tasted really good. Overall the food was solid. Probably the worst "Mexican" food I've ever had. Queso with dip was $8 of mystery white substance with green flecks and stale nachos. Burrito was like someone dropped a cheeseburger into a handbag and left it for a day. Even my dog wouldn't eat it and he's a Labrador. I have no idea how this restaurant has the positive reviews that it has. Frankly, we ordered there last evening and it was the worst Mexican food, bar none, that we've ever had. I ordered nachos and got soggy chips. Seriously? Granted, the order was take out, but I've ordered nachos as take out many times and never once has the order been soggy with limp chips. I've ordered food from here 3 or 4 times now, and EVERY time it's SO good I cannot believe how good it is. The best Mexican food I ever had was out in Colorado, so to find Mexican food right up the street from my apartment that is THIS good just makes me happier than I can put into words. The steak is always perfectly cooked and juicy. The refried beans are out of this world!! I am salivating just thinking about how good their food is. Texan here- this place is my favorite Mexican on the North Shore. It reminds me of the down-to-earth, super casual, family-owned Mexican places we have all over the place in South Texas. It's true to it's name in that the dishes are typical of the state of Jalisco, so it differs from a lot of the other local places. Give it a few tries and order a few different plates, but the fajitas, tacos, chips/salsa, margs, smoothies I've had so far have hit the spot and at a very reasonable price. They have great specials too (taco Tuesday is a great deal and a frequent weeknight cheat meal for me). Most important of all, it's a cozy, clean space with excellent service and hardworking staff. When I get homesick for Texas I come here to chill out with a Mexican beer and soccer on the tv, and we're really lucky to have a place like this in downtown Beverly. read more

Different than Howling Wolf (based on New Mexico cuisine), but equally as good.
