Had high hopes due to the ratings but I suspect it's just because this is in sleepy Marblehead. Stopped by for lunch with a group and we had the ceviche and guacamole to start. The chips and guac were solid, but the ceviche was iffy - it was served dry on a piece of lettuce, most pieces were very chewy and we were worried about getting sick, I'd skip it. I had the fried fish tacos for my main and was disappointed - very little fish, too much batter, and thick and not very flavorful tortillas. I could be spoiled after years of west coast Mexican and a lot of time in Baja and Oaxaca, but nothing hit for me other than the guac. Service was good and the space is large and clean, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more

Food was amazing, I didn't think the suburbs in Massachusetts would have such good Mexican food. Having lived in Mexico City for three years, also California and the western United States, we were pleasantly surprised. Ordered pick up on Uber eats bc there was a deal on the enchiladas. The food was made extremely quick and was absolutely delicious! Best enchiladas I've ever had. Very large portions. Great value with the buy one get one free deal. The chicken was juicy, the ingredients were fresh and well seasoned. Also got the plantains which were very sweet and crispy and yummy. My wife and I have been going to Amores since shortly after it opened. This is the best Mexican cuisine we have had since we were in Mexico. The staff is friendly and the food is excellent. Everything We've tried has been fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys authentic Mexican food. Note: This is not TexMex. The chef/owner uses authentic recipies from his home state so prepare yourself for a tasty meal. This is also a family friendly restaurant and the prices are quite reasonable. For anyone who is mobility challenged, the restaurant is on the second floor of the Village Plaza but there is a wide ramp to get there. Went to Amores Kitchen Bar for the first time last week after having moved to Marblehead from NYC ten years ago. The food was excellent. We have eaten at two of New York's best Mexican restaurants and Amores Kitchen rated right up there with them. The tamales were the best we've ever had and the enchiladas were also excellent. Great Mexican food and margaritas. Love this place - but why isn't Marblehead giving it more love? Fajitas, tacos and burritos are authentic and tasty. The VIDA burrito is massive and delightful - choice of steak of chicken wrapped in a large flour tortilla with rice, whole black beans, lettuce, guacamole, shredded cheese, and Pico de Gallo topped with tomato base sauce, queso and cream fresca. Their queso is like the nectar of the Gods - get it! This place is in the old Turtle Cove location. And location may be why this place isn't busier (2nd floor above a Dunkin Donuts / Dry cleaners). But that's no excuse - this place should be packed way more than it is based on the quality of food, margaritas, and always excellent service with a smile. The manager, Maria, emailed me the next day to explain that the restaurant had had to close for an emergency, and offered to give us a meal on the house. We went back a week later, and had an absolutely delicious meal. Maria apologized again for the inconvenience. Than our food came and the loco burrito was insane so much love was given to the ingredients the peppers the steak the chicken everything was incredible I'd give this place six stars if yelp allowed me too. The ubiquitous beans and rice with your meals are better than any ever slopped on your reheated plate as the beans come in a little dark tortilla bowl and the arroz is presented in a tasteful little mound. Queso is thicker than the norm and a little on the spicy side, very good. The chimichangas are the best I've had since the Edgewater in Magnolia closed down! The chicken was great but their pork was quintessential moist roast lightly shredded wonderfulness. Kitchen is cleanest you've ever seen; the staff are all attentive and very pleasant. Maybe this upstairs spot at Village plaza finally has a keeper as every restaurant that has been there for the last 20+ years hasn't latest long. read more

We went during their soft opening and while it was clear not everything was in it's finished state, the food definitely was. The team was still waiting on formal menus, so we had to use print outs. The decor looked like it might need to be finished. That said, the staff was friendly and attentive. The drink menu was extensive and featured fresh fruit juice in many drinks. My wife got a Paloma. I got a watermelon margarita. Both were excellent. Our son got a non-alcoholic piña colada, which he enjoyed. The queso was tasty and everyone enjoyed the chips and various salsas. I had the chimichangas, which had some of the best pork I've had, while my wife got tacos and our son got a quesadilla. Everyone left happy. read more

Went to Amores in Marblehead late yesterday afternoon. Hubby had steak frajitas and I had the Burrito Loco. This was the best Mexican food we have had for years. Unfortunately, not a real convenient location from Wakefield if you want a couple of margaritas but we most certainly be back. Hubby had a specialty margarita that was $17.99 but it filled the glass 2x's so not unreasonable. I had a virgin margarita that was excellent. (darn liver and kidneys). Totally recommend. read more

In our first-time visit we tried the taquitos and the calamari and both were atonishingly good, with lovely flavors and presentation. This is delicious authentic Mexican food. Rico! Save some room for desert! I would come here just for the flan which is heads above any I've had elsewhere - a family recipe. We loved it. We had a party of six, and two are gluten intolerant. Their needs were met. Everyone loved their meals, and we have some picky people in the mix; we all got something different. To start, they give you the typical chips and salsa, but add in some bean dip. That bean dip was a favorite among the teens (okay the parents loved it too). I was craving Mexican food and so I Yelped places in Marblehead and saw that Amores received a good rating. I agree with I read: the staff is friendly and courteous. I ordered the Enmoladas - delicious. Three corn tortillas with shredded chicken topped with a homemade mole sauce that was out of this world. Slightly sweet, so light, it was was delicious. Finally decided to try this place out so me and the wife sat at the bar late night before closing. Food was amazing and authentic and full of flavor. We are always on the hunt for new places for Mexican Food. Yesterday we discovered Amore's Kitchen In Marblehead .When we first walked in we noticed everything was very clean and orderly. We sat at the Bar and ordered drinks. The Margaritas were Excellent & the Bartender/Waitress was very pleasant and smiled the entire time we were there. She was very attentive and always around when we needed something. We decided to order Appetizers for our first visit. We got the Pork Nachos and the Calamari. Both dishes were very good, but The Nachos stood out. Best we've ever had & we have hade them everywhere. The pork was so tender and the rest of the ingredients were perfect. As a finisher we had the Flan & it did not disappoint. We give this Gem in Marblehead a solid 10+ all around. We will definitely be back soon and will bring friends. When it comes to Mexican food, I'm a pretty tough customer. That's because after living in Mexico City for 20 years, where I ate Mexican not only at restaurants but also in the homes of my Mexican friends and their families, I became used to authentic Mexican cuisine. Of course, when I moved back to the North Shore, I found that the restaurants around here almost always disappointed. However, finally I've found a restaurant that does not-- Amores Kitchen Bar! I've only had their food twice (once in the restaurant and once for takeout), but both times it was delicious and very similar to the quality I was used to back in Mexico. The enmoladas were especially good (the best mole I've had in the U.S.) The three other people who I was with also loved what they got. Other Mexican restaurants in town and in nearby towns may have better atmosphere, but if you want really satisfying Mexican food, this is the place to come! read more
