    Crazy burrito ( Carne asada)
    Orena W.

We looked up on Yelp what kind of establishments nearby in Gloucester would be one $ places. This place came up. There's limited street parking on the side of the street. We ordered the chicken chimichanga and the Carne asada crazy burrito. The crazy burrito was okay. But the chicken chimichanga was soooo good the chicken was flavorful and spicy and the portions were really big I couldn't even finish it. The chicken chimichanga came with guacamole, lettuce, beans, and yellow rice. The Carne asada crazy burrito came with guacamole and lettuce. The carne asada crazy burrito wasn't particularly good, it was pretty bland.

The restaurant was bright and inviting, the order went smoothly and the food was delivered quickly. We had the nachos which unfortunately had cold cheese (a first for us) but the chorizo was nicely flavored and warm so that saved it a little. We also tried the three taco meal with chicken which was nicely spiced but dry, steak which was greasy but not chewy so a good bite, and pork which was wonderfully flavored but a bit dry. The saddest part was that the tacos included diced onions and small diced mealy tomatoes where I expected cilantro instead of the tomatoes. If we lived here we would probably give it another try and overall we left fed and happy.

    Birria for the win!!!

The sign says "best tacos in town" and when you are a SoCal dude in Gloucester - I just assume that means the "only tacos in town." That said, if this spot was your only choice - you are stoked! I don't think the dude behind the counter had any clue how much was riding on this meal. I just left LA and am doing a business project here and it's snowing and grey and I miss LA. So, from now on I will just go to Lupitas and order birria tacos and close my eyes and pretend I am back on Lincoln blvd hammering tacos out of a truck. The birria is all I had and it's all I need to have to determine that this place is legit. Thx Lupitas. You saved my soul.

As far as events, I would give HIGHLY recommend hosting here. The cost for the area was unbeatable, and the food and service was excellent. Let me break it down. We visited beforehand to try the food to make sure it was good to serve to our guests. We tried the bang bang shrimp, chicken tenders and calamari which were some of our potential options. The bang bang shrimp and the chicken tenders were absolutely delicious, but the calamari had absolutely no flavor. We were glad we tried it beforehand so we could make an informed menu decision. We reached out to begin booking about a year or so in advance. I will say, there were times throughout the planning process where my communications and emails went unanswered and I would have to send follow-ups to nudge for a reply. Other than that, our party went fantastically. We had about 120 people which was definitely maximum capacity. Its not the most visually pleasing room or lighting, but it did the job for what we needed. It got very hot in the room but we were able to open the windows which helped. The food was excellent and we could easily order more throughout the night if we needed it. We had cocktail shrimp as one of our items and the shrimp were enormous. We also had salads, charcuterie, bang bang shrimp, sliders, tenders, and more. The drinks were great and the bartenders and staff were so nice. Our party ended at 9 and most people left but we stayed until 10 with some of our friends to drink and dance and they didn't seem to mind at all. Overall it was a wonderful experience and the perfect start to our wedding weekend.

He pushed us towards the bar and we ordered drinks. After our 7:45 reservation came and went, a dish of almonds appeared where we were standing with our cocktails. We never ordered these, as I am allergic to tree nuts. We just pushed them to the side and thought nothing of it. When we eventually sat at a table for dinner, we ordered drinks, oysters, and two pizzas. One pizza has cheese and the other pizza (the Rosso) is only sprinkled with Parmesan, and is commonly known in Italy as a pizza senza formaggio. After waiting over 40 minutes for our food after being sat late, only the cheese pizza arrived. We waited over 20 minutes and talked to our waiter and kitchen multiple times to see what was going on with the other pizza. Apparently the pizza chef kept burning the cheese free pizza, an item on their menu that he is apparently not able to make. Finally the pizza was made, and the manager delivered it to the table next to us. They asked why they were given a pizza without cheese, and we had to walk over to the table to grab it. Our waiter came over and asked if everything turned out, and we shared we were disappointed the manager gave the pizza to the wrong table. He told us he had nothing to do with that and was embarrassed. After we started eating, our waiter came back to tell us the pizza and the almonds were comped. We had never ordered the almonds, and shared that we were surprised we would have been charged for something we never ordered and shared my allergies. He said it was the best his manager allowed him to do. Not once did the manager come by to apologize for delivering the pizza to the wrong table or for messing up our order or for making our experience so poor. To be "comped" something we didn't order as an apology for our table wait was absurd. Terrible experience, mediocre food, incompetent manager. Would not recommend.

The restaurant is pretty big and the wait staff are really nice and friendly. The menu is good sized, reasonably priced for the portions and delicious. You can eat out on their deck or there's a nice view of the harbor. There are two bars and I imagine it gets pretty packed in the summer. I send people here when asked where to go for standard fish and chips fare and feel vindicated now that I've returned in the off season. On the negative side- the vibe is corporate- like you're eating in a hotel lobby in the Midwest. There was one piece of art that looked local and if not for that, you could have been anywhere. Not a damning criticism but also the music made me feel like I was in Ohio not Gloucester. Someone had the station on contemporary country and it was loud. Men singing about going home with drunk women with low self esteem and trying to win back custody of their kids- it's the worst vibe for me. I kept looking at the waitresses trying to determine which one I could pay to change it. If the food wasn't so good and the staff wasn't so nice I would have left. There were so few other customers compared to the other restaurants we passed by I wondered if it was because the music was the reason. There's a way to say "we are a working class hangout " without blasting music that glorifies heavy drinking and dim wits in the background. The restaurant owners have curated every other aspect of the experience- they should go to Oak to Ember or the Franklin at night and realize that the music in addition to the atmosphere makes it or breaks it.

The lobster was dry, gummy and the meat pieces were small and sparse. For $40, which is more than a lobster roll with 4 times the meat and 10 times the quality costs in Boston, it was a bit of a rip-off. On the positive side, the tater tots were great. They were crispy and served piping hot fresh. They probably came from a frozen bag, but they were made well. The fish chowder was not bad. Although the soup was not very rich and somewhat underseasoned, the fish seemed fresh and was flaky and tasty. Fries were not great (likely also from a bag, under seasoned, fast-food thin, and served lukewarm). The atmosphere may merit a visit for drinks, but food may be a gamble.
