Da Glosta House. "Quite Good". Handsome amounts of fresh Haddock, lightly breaded, fried to perfection. The fries were pretty okay. A batter fry thick cut would be more appropriate. These were slim cut fries. Good though. The tarter sauce has a light fresh flavor, excellent. Maple bacon burger is worth selling a pint of blood for. Get it. Your welcome. Bar staff was top notch. Two waitresses moved like fighter jets, bartender was on point. The dude is a fixer. His nickname should be "The Fixer". So say we all.

You're paying for the view at this restaurant, not the food. My mother ordered haddock, scallions, mashed potatoes and I ordered a grilled chicken Mexican salad. I tasted her scallions and mashed potatoes. She and I both thought the potatoes and scallions were bland/tasteless and she said the haddock was also rather tasteless. My mom said the batter was greasy and not crispy. My grilled chicken tasted as if it had been frozen and then thawed and cooked. Waitress was not very attentive to our drinks and didn't offer any dressing for my salad. $35.30 for both our lunches and 1 tea. The cornbread was very good (thick and moist) and view was pretty. Waitress gave us some cornbread to go. My mom had fun feeding the seagull.

Fun place for lunch or dinner. We had the boiled lobster and a fried haddock sandwich. Lobster was superb. Haddock sandwich was just ok. Might be better on a po boy style roll or a piece of folded Texas toast. Or a hoagie. Also it didn't come with tartar so I had to wait a bit for the server to come back to begin eating. Chowder was ok, very gritty. All in all, we enjoyed our dinner but there is room for improvement. Will likely come back another time in the summer.

Warm lobster roll and a beer was perfect for lunch. Loved everything about this space. Easy, casual, quintessential shipping village little eatery.

This place is amazing! I came to Gloucester with one dish in mind and that was the Lobster Roll. It has always been a dream of mine and The Gloucester House fulfilled that. The lobster was savory, the butter well suited the meat, the bread was soft and warm. Everything was great!!! I also had a taste of the fried shrimp, needless to say that shrimp basket can suit two people instead of one. They give you more than enough shrimp to satisfy your needs! I also have to say that the cornbread they serve you is warm and buttery. Just be careful not to eat too much of it! Overall, the service here was great, the restaurant was nice and clean and they give you a nice view of the harbor. The food came out in a timely manner and it tastes just like they caught it the same day. I will truly be returning back to this town and visiting this restaurant again. I also recommend if you're in the area to pay this restaurant a visit.

Our group of four recently had lunch here while visiting Massachusetts. As a bonus, we were able to watch a fish boat unload while lunching. The locally-caught fish dishes were excellent. I had the haddock. The clam chowder and the fish chowder were both excellent. These dishes did not have a ton of ingredients, and the chef wasn't trying to be extra creative with them. The chef really allowed the fish to be the main attraction. While the table received a bread basket, I was given gluten-free rolls, which I really appreciated. The restaurant itself is very clean and comfortable. They have a fireplace for those cold chilly days. There is also dockside patio seating. We sat inside due to rainy weather. There is a more casual outdoor restaurant called the Blue Collar Lobster. It appears to be outdoor deck seating. Both are owned by The Gloucester House. I'm assuming it's open seasonally, but not certain. The servers were pleasant but a little slow. Our water glasses sat empty for a while before we could get their attention for a refill. I noticed this at all tables. Overall, if you are looking for fresh fish, you have found the place.

So I can completely understand why this place can't go beyond 4 stars. Everything is just ok. When you have the tourist drive from the 7 Seas Whale Watch you have guaranteed traffic so that should make you want to make sure the space is clean and you have epic clam chowder for starters. The space is tidy but it's not super clean. The glasses have bits on them so this may be a case of needing a super string washing machine replaced. The food is really just average and nothing to write home about, and for $35 a lobster you should have super fresh and delicious sides, not canned coleslaw. The clam chowder is watery but everyone said it was fine. Other than that it's fine and will do for lunch. It's not bad it's just not food you'll crave again.

Large restaurant located downtown Gloucester on a busy pier. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Clam chowder was creamy, served hot and delicious. Fish & chips, and pot roast werery good. Clam strip sandwich was loaded with clams. We sat in the enclosed porch which could get a bit loud, but overall it was a pleasant experience with nice view of the harbor.

As far as events, I would give HIGHLY recommend hosting here. The cost for the area was unbeatable, and the food and service was excellent. Let me break it down. We visited beforehand to try the food to make sure it was good to serve to our guests. We tried the bang bang shrimp, chicken tenders and calamari which were some of our potential options. The bang bang shrimp and the chicken tenders were absolutely delicious, but the calamari had absolutely no flavor. We were glad we tried it beforehand so we could make an informed menu decision. We reached out to begin booking about a year or so in advance. I will say, there were times throughout the planning process where my communications and emails went unanswered and I would have to send follow-ups to nudge for a reply. Other than that, our party went fantastically. We had about 120 people which was definitely maximum capacity. Its not the most visually pleasing room or lighting, but it did the job for what we needed. It got very hot in the room but we were able to open the windows which helped. The food was excellent and we could easily order more throughout the night if we needed it. We had cocktail shrimp as one of our items and the shrimp were enormous. We also had salads, charcuterie, bang bang shrimp, sliders, tenders, and more. The drinks were great and the bartenders and staff were so nice. Our party ended at 9 and most people left but we stayed until 10 with some of our friends to drink and dance and they didn't seem to mind at all. Overall it was a wonderful experience and the perfect start to our wedding weekend.

Highly recommended local spot. We had reservations since we are a big group. We waited for about 5 minutes at the bar since they were cleaning our table. Our server was very friendly. My son and I decided to share the 6 lb lobster with a side of asparagus. I was doing a happy dance when it arrived. So fresh and tasty. The rest of our party ordered French onion soup, clam chowder, lobster Mac n cheese, steak tips with truffle fries, lobsters (1.5 and 2 lbs), baked haddock, pan seared halibut, smash burger and fried clams. It was incredibly crowded on Friday night, with wait times starting at half an hour, but the food was just average. Good restaurants are rare in small towns. 1.5 lb Steamed Lobster: The lobster was very cheap, only $32 for 1.5 lbs. It was relatively fresh, with firm meat and some paste, but not particularly plump, especially the claws, which were rather empty. Halibut Risotto: The halibut meat was coarse and tough. The risotto was cooked more like porridge than a firm, undercooked texture. Clam Chowder: Extremely salty. Truffle Fries: Quite ordinary. The fries were a bit cold, and it had black truffle and Parmesan cheese, but that was just about it. Pasta Chix Caesar Pesto: A seasonal dish, served to the kids at our table. The pesto had a strong raw nutty flavor, and the pasta was overcooked; no wonder the kids didn't like it, lol. Prickly Pear Spritz: It tasted like no alcohol, and no pear aroma; it was just like a glass of berry lemonade... and it was even served in a plastic cup--so unrefined!
