Came here for a late lunch after wandering around Gloucester. It was pretty bustling even at 2PM. Inside is big and spacious with lots of seating and great sea breeze. We ordered: lobster roll, cioppino, fried clams and fried calamari duo platter The cioppino was our favorite part given how it includes so much and so many varieties of seafood in it. It's definitely too big for one, and it'd be your whole meal for two. Having some savory broth hit the spot after we were sweating a lot from being outside. The fried clams and calamari was a bit confusing. We saw the fried clams on the menu and was intrigued by it. The server recommended us getting the duo platter. We're not sure how that would be different than getting the fried clams and fried calamari separately as appetizers. The batter overall wasn't light and airy enough. It was a bit The clams were a bit of a letdown. It wasn't as sweet and juicy as I'd like. Multiple pieces also tasted muddy. Calamari wasn't special either. Called ahead and waiting around an hour and a half for table. They are very busy at this place so long waits and slower service. Not sure if this is always the case but we did have to ask for bread while waiting for our food. We got the fish tacos, the fries that come with these were delicious. They were airy but still crunchy. It's like when Lays came out with the big air potato chip. The taco itself was pretty flavor lacking, we asked for extra sauce and tabasco which came in the mini bottles like the ones you get with oysters. The Lobster Ravioli was quite heavy wasn't a huge fan, it is very very creamy. The Fra Diavolo had amazing portion, it has a combo of all different seafood so you get a bit of everything. This dish was shared but the leftovers were still enough for another 2 meals for me. Overall a good place for the vibes and location. The view was not the prettiest as there is a lot right there. This restaurant was much anticipated and unfortunately was the most disappointing. We were on vacation and this was the first restaurant we reserved. The hostess were very sweet, the food was really good but unfortunately, the service was not great. We were a big party so there was a gratuity that was applied and may be why the service was dismal. The server seemed really annoyed from the beginning. She messed up one of the orders and instead of just correcting, she started to argue why she messed up the order. Another great time at Seaport Grille. We were there Thursday for the lobster roll special, and enjoyed them, plus the fish tacos and chowders. Excellent service from Sophia, which added to the enjoyment of our celebration for one couple's anniversary and improved health. Came here for late lunch during the weekday with a beautiful weather, we were very lucky to get a table outside by the water. We chose half dozen of oysters and colossal shrimp cocktail to start, and then had seafood trio and steamed lobster. Everything was great except shrimps to me a little bit overcooked. This is a popular place so definitely reserve ahead as there may be a wait without reservations. It was just me so I got lucky to get a seat at the bar. The bartender was very on point with service and kept refilling my gingerale every time he noticed I was low. He let me know if there were when my food was coming up soon and attentive by asking if everything was good or needed anything. It was my first time in Gloucester and met some great people at the bar. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious. I had the lump crab cakes to start and a fisherman's platter. They give big portions. If you get a margarita it's usually served in a large glass it was the talk of the bar. The other couples got the bang bang shrimp and they said it was good. I saw another couple with the apple crisp and the other with the key lime pie let me tell you it looks like a cake. Our mouths dropped like whoa I want that lol. This place was amazing! The food, the service, the waterfront location! Their Clam chowder was insanely good! I got the halibut, it was the biggest piece of halibut I have ever had or seen! The lemon sauce was perfection, brought the entire dish together. My husband got the fra diavolo, which is seafood pasta. It was loaded with seafood and the biggest portion!! It was so good! Our son got the lobster ravioli and they were the best I've tried. No shortage of lobster! Our waitress recommended the key lime pie for dessert and although Ive never been a big fan of it in the past this dessert was insanely good and you don't get just a slice you get your own pie! It was huge portion wise. Perfect for sharing even for large groups. BEWARE: We are vacationing in Gloucester and placed an order directly to this restaurant for us to pick up. When we returned to our hotel, we noticed we had been charged a "Delivery Fee" of $5.88!!! We called and spoke to the woman manager and said this must be a mistake. No, she said it was for the takeout containers, however, she admitted this was a brand new fee! I asked if anyone else complained about the new "Delivery Fee" and she said "no." NOT TRUE AT ALL - SEE "Rob B's" same complaint of 19 days ago here. I politely asked for a refund, told her we just spent $80.00 there and were most unhappy, and she said No! This is not how you retain your new customers. Question: Does this new takeout fee apply to their in-house customers who don't finish a meal and ask for take-home containers as well? I doubt it. As for our $50.00 "Lobster Pie" it was blanketed in a large amount of crumbs and was quite dry and chewy as others have mentioned. The excessive crumbs arrived on our other meal as well but the haddock was very fresh. Unfortunately, this episode will not encourage us to come back again. read more

Amazing seafood restaurant located by the inner harbor at Gloucester. We waited for 45 minutes for our group of 6 to be seated at 5pm on a Saturday. We had some drinks at the bar while we waited so it wasn't too bad. We were seated on the patio and had a lovely view of the harbor. The patio also gets a nice breeze during the summer. The food was totally worth the wait. We started with the grilled octopus, crab cakes, and clam chowder. Everything was incredible. The crab cakes were some of the best I ever had. I ordered the halibut for my main and my wife got the fisherman's platter. The halibut was cooked to perfection and the asparagus that came with it was a great accompaniment. Everything on the fisherman's platter was delicious. It was all fried perfectly, not overdone or underdone, just right. Will have to come back here on my next visit to Gloucester. read more

No problem with the food. I ordered online, and the pickup order was ready at the front receiption for easy pickup. I checked the receipt when I got home and found I was charged a $3.85 "Delivery Fee" - for picking it up myself. Being prompted for a tip (with no direct "nope" button) on checkout was bad enough, but when I signed the slip at pickup there was a blank line for "Additional Tip". Sleazy tactics from what would otherwise be a classy place. And no, the cost to a business of using an online service to free their staff from taking phone calls is not a "benefit" customers should be billed for, as I assume the "delivery fee" is to cover the ordering platform "Toast" charged the restaurant. The delivery fee being an odd amount suggests it is a percentage of the order, and not really for "delivery" of food. read more

The Seaport Grille continues to get worse. We went back and tried something different instead of fried seafood. The baked cod is usually pretty good, so I tried it. Portion size has shrunk, and they replaced the delicious whipped potatoes with tiny whole potatoes. Not great. Similar to the issue with the fried food, the meal was lukewarm, and a little soggy. Something is going on here, and I suspect it is a cost saving program. We won't go back. Oh, the last two times we went there was no wait for a table on a weekend. I think o know why. read more

Right on the water in Gloucester, this is a more casual spot with a lot of families. However the menu options are diverse and elevated. Portions sizes are huge. Huge. Not just for the cheap items. I have had a lot of tuna tartare in my life and this was certainly the largest. It included the option to replace wontons with cucumbers and didn't have a bunch of filler with the tuna. Awesome size for the value. Pasta dishes are comically large. I also got the pear martini which was good and they gave me the shaker on the side so I basically got two full martinis for the price of one. Service was fast and the type of local north shore staff who really know the menu, can give you an opinion and are no nonsense. I've been a patron of Seaport Grille since they've opened and have always been satisfied with the menu choices, generous portions, and consistency of their food. As years have gone by, prices have increased, but that's true of all the restaurants that have been around for many years in Gloucester. Today was the first time I felt the need to say something negative. We ordered two lobster rolls (along with 3 other meals), which we have done many times before, and the amount of lobster meat on these rolls were lacking. I've taken guests to Seaport Grille regularly for the lobster, because they tend to be generous with their lobster meat. We were there today (on a Saturday) and paid full price ($45/each), so you can imagine our disappointment paying $90 for two large rolls with little bits of lobster. I would have said something earlier but my guests thought that was just typical of the restaurant and didn't say anything until it was time to leave. When I mentioned something to the manager, he said they portion the same amount for each roll, but will talk to the GM. If you want a lobster roll in Gloucester, there are plenty of other restaurants to try, since there is no shortage of this dish on the North Shore. Seaport Grille was always my go-to place, so I think it's going to be a while before I visit them again. read more

The bar is a good size comfortable seating with plenty of elbow room the restaurant has plenty of seating as well. The service was excellent and helpful. The food was excellent chowder was excellent the clams were delicious the bacon cheeseburger and onion rings were excellent the beer was cold everything was very good. read more
