Just redone-- looks amazing with classic touches. Reminds me of the hotel. Service is quick, personable, and the drinks are very strong! A bang for your buck and a good seasonal fix for blue collar out back. Also has good parking. read more

Woof. This was sad :( came here after searching and searching for the best fried seafood in the area. Literally every. Single. Thing. On the plate was soggy. Soggy breaded fried things with zero flavor. The seafood itself tasted like nothing. I couldn't believe the absence of salt. It was truly HORRIBLE and also $100 for my husband and I to split a plate and each get one drink. Wished I could've returned it after one bite. SKIP THIS TOURIST TRAP AND GO TO WOODMAN'S!!! Opposite experience there. read more

3 stars for the live music and the seafood. The service is strange. Disconnected bar, no waitstaff, and separate food counter is bizarre way for a place to be setup. The live music was great and added a refreshing light environment. The seafood here is worth the price and quality. Decent drinks. This is definitely a local place. Everyone knows everyone. I was an outsider for sure. read more

The lobster roll at this place is huge and delicious! I highly recommend the Big Bang shrimp where it's friend and lightly coated with honey. I will definitely get these two dishes again when I return. The tuna tartare poke bowl did not live up to my expectations as it was just rice, Aurugula, cucumber, beans and some seaweed salad, tuna tossed together in a bowl $18 and I personally would not get it again. It's self service, but staff there are friendly and they have both indoor and outdoor seatings (by the water) to enjoy the scenery while you have your meal. It should be noted that the Gloucester House is closed during the summer months for indoor dining and operates outside as Blue Collar Lobster on the adjacent dock. I am giving it 4 stars because of the amazing clam chowder! I actually got it there 2 days in a row because it was so good. I opted for the cold lobster roll, which was loaded with lobster meat and lightly dressed with mayo, but unfortunately lacked flavor/seasoning and I was continually adding salt & pepper. The lobster roll was served with French fries, which were crisp and delicious. It was probably due to the fact that I ordered a cup of their rich and creamy New England clam chowder that caused me to not be able to finish the $40 lobster roll, but I don't regret getting that delicious chowder. There is a rented area with tables for shade as well as high top tables with umbrellas. Parking is at one of the 3 lots next door where you pay to park. During the summer months the lots fill up quick and the lunch line can be long, but moves quickly. I would definitely return the next time I am in Gloucester. read more

Great location, ordered the lobster roll and it's absolutely big enough to share with two people however didn't really have any flavor expect for the unsalted butter.. I wouldn't order it again. Service and everything else was great. And so was the clam chowder we ordered. read more

This review is for the back deck of the Gloucester House know as the Blue Collar. Though casual, the Blue Collar has both uber casual outdoor seating, and more comfortable inside seating. The process is simple. You order your food at the counter outside. You are given a buzzer. Your buzzer goes off when your food is ready to pickup. You sit wherever you want to...and there is tons of seating, inside and out. Waterfront seating. Before we arrived I was thinking lobster salad over greens. When I saw the prices for the whole steamed lobsters...I quickly changed gear! Market price, whole steamed lobsters here are sold by the count. Steamed, dressed, finished with lemon and melted butter. Prices were as follows: Single (about 1 and 1/4 pound: $25 Double: $40 (additional for 15) Triple: $50 (additional for 10) Quad: $60 (additional for 10)...that works out to just $15 a lobster! Lobster roll $40 Lobster salad $40! Sides of fresh raw oysters, corn chowder, corn, other sides available. And super delicious. Tried a spoon of my cousin's clam chowder and proclaimed it the best I've ever had. Ended up buying two pints to take home. So yes, we enjoyed eating like millionaires for the day read more

Nice big location right by the water, too bad the $40 lobster roll was either fresh or tasty and also lack of enough lobster meat Came here during Thanksgiving break on way to rock port, perhaps being off season with low turnaround is why the lobster roll was so sad, but nevertheless, I found it unacceptable to serve such sad roll at such high price read more

We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and boy was it packed! We ordered the shrimp cocktail, the sole, the lobster roll, and the whole belly clam roll. Honestly, everything was fantastic! The shrimp were plump and sweet. The clams were perfectly cooked, lightly buttered and sweet. And the Lobsta roll was just plain tasty. Next time we're in town, we will be back!! read more

We stopped in on a Sunday. The place was packed! They have live bands on Sunday's that play in the back bar area. It's huge and was packed. The noise level being a full house and the band was at "yell to the person across the table". The on tap margueritas were pretty good. I do have family I was visiting and they said it's not usually soooo busy. There's two separate bar areas an outdoor area and covered porches. So, you can find a quieter spot and we fid. I've been told the food is good. I can't attest to that as we only went for cocktails. The lobsters I saw ho by looked awesome snd they share a pier with Wicked Tuna so the tuna must be fresh!!! read more

Blue Collar Lobster Co.: Place your order and sit at the tables under umbrellas or under a tent, by the water. There is also another outdoor area through the building. We got the better deal for 4 boiled lobster for $60 (than the 3 for $50). Very casual setting and so easy to break down the fresh lobster anyway (and I know Lobster roll is less work but is $40. We still got our lobster and butter, just minus bread). Got the fried haddock too. Lightly battered which was great, tastes like there's more seasoning (herbs?) on it although I prefer just plain batter. read more

We ended up at Blue Collar by default when our first choice couldn't accommodate our large party. This was a total win for all. It was early on a holiday Monday and they were just starting to get busy. We had 13 people in our group including six kids. It is walk up service and you order from the window and pickup from the same. Seating is first come first serve but we managed to get three high tops to fit us all which was amazing. They have a waitress that took drink orders from the bar but the food is a window service strictly. Menu is mostly seafood but they did have chicken fingers for the kids. The food comes quick and is super fresh and delicious. I ordered the Bing Bang shrimp and it was a good portion and super tasty with a nice mix of sweet and spice. Also ordered a dozen of the raw oysters that were Briny, big and super clean. My wife got the fried clams which were full belly clams cooked perfectly and served with fries. By 1pm the line was super long but they were moving people through at a good pace. Ice cold beers from the bar as well as great scenery of the water added to the experience. Off street parking was key because the town can be busy this time of year. Prices were a bit on higher side but well worth it for quality and quantity. Kid friendly and although I'm not a dog person, it appeared dog friendly as the dining area it outdoors (some covered). read more

First time at Blue Collar was a pleasant experience. Went for lunch on a Monday mid-noon with visiting family from Texas that wanted to experience a typical New England meal. We originally wanted to eat at The Gloucester House restaurant but it was closed to inside dining so we ate at the adjoining Blue Collar which is casual, counter service, and outdoor harbor side dining. The lady that took our order explained that meals were ala-carte but sandwiches came with chips. We ordered twin 1 1/4 lb steamed lobsters, hotdogs for the kids, clam chowder, side of fries and onion rings. The lobsters were fresh and tasty when dipped in melted butter. Hotdogs had a natural casing and snapped with each bite. Fries and onion ring portions were huge. The clam chowder was creamy and delicious. Eating dock-side overlooking the lobster boats and harbor made it a nice New England experience. read more

After our whale watching excursion, we wanted to check out a local seafood spot. My cousin decided that we would try Blue Collar. It was nearby, by the water, and had outdoor seating. The menu had good options. I really wanted fried shrimp, and figured you couldn't go wrong with it. The service was quick and efficient. The seating area was nice as well and right by the water. We were able to order and get our food rather quickly. We were all really disappointed with the food. The fish was fresh, but the batter on the shrimp and onion rings was so bland...absolutely no flavor whatsoever. Not even salt! The coleslaw and fries were just as bad, unfortunately. I have definitely had much better seafood. read more

We don't have access to great seafood where we live so figured we would give this a try- definitely not disappointed! What an amazing menu, quality of food and atmosphere. We ordered a wide variety of items, each unique. The clam chowder was some of the best we've ever had. The bing bang shrimp had a great crunch and the sauce was great. The poke bowl (shocked they had this option but so glad!!) with tuna was fresh, flavorful and better than most poke places. We also had onion rings that tasted great! My only critique is they could've used a bit more salt. I hope we get to come back here and try some more of their menu items, this is the definition of fresh. read more

Probably one of the top 10 places I've ever dined! I'm a lover of seafood, but a Midwest dweller, so it's not often I get to enjoy fresh lobster. Blue Collar is as fresh as you can get - fishing boats literally pull up and unload right into the restaurant. The outdoor area has a tiki-ish vibe, with picnic tables, umbrellas, and a great view of the water. We went as soon as we arrived on Gloucster, on a Saturday night, and there was live music outside. You can order food outside, but they only have beer. We went inside to the bar to order cocktails. Once back outside, we ordered whole lobsters, peel and eat shrimp, and oysters. Best. Oysters. I've ever had. Period. Our experience was so amazing, we went back the next day (before a dinner reservation somewhere else) for more oysters and shrimp. I can't wait to have a reason to come back! read more

This was a lunch stop for my wife and I as we were visiting the fisherman's memorial. It is all outside, you order at the window and eat out next to the water. I thought the lobster roll was a solid value even at $40. The portion was excellent but the lobster was slightly overcooked which made it a little chewy. TL;DR: food is five stars, removed a star due to service Food: we ordered 4 raw oysters ($2.50 each), a hot lobster roll (my first ever! $37), blackened haddock tacos ($17), and a pint of clam chowder ($10) for two people to split. It was a lot of food for ~$80, but delicious! Oysters were sweet and fresh, lobster chunks were plentiful and also sweet / buttery. The blackened haddock was seasoned well, the filet of fish was huge, and the tortilla shell held out and didn't fall apart even though it was eaten last. It also came with guacamole, sour cream, and an orange sauce that was slightly spicy. The clam chowder was creamy and slightly salty thanks to the bacon. While the food is delicious, there are no substitutes for dishes that include fries. Service: Orders are placed at one window and picked up at another window. Tables are self serve and you clear the table yourself into trash, food compost, and recyclable bins. The older woman taking our order was abrupt and seemed like she was laughing at us with a coworker when the credit card was removed too early (though we only did so because we heard her say to remove it even though the screen didn't look like it was done). Disappointed to be made felt unwelcome as Asian Americans in 2021 and to feel singled out. Location / environment: Tucked away behind another restaurant and business, but signage is visible from the street. Free parking was a nice perk to find! Outdoor dining was plentiful and tables turned over at a good pace such that around 1:20p there was enough seating still. Shade provided at all outdoor tables and very dog friendly (water provided for pups upon request). The vibe is relaxed and views are charming. read more

It is what it is ... picnic tables on a dock with an outdoor lobster shack where you order a steamed lobster ($12.99) or twins ($21.99) peel and eat shrimp- oysters on half shell- fresh corn on the cob- chowder- burgers/hotdogs cold beer and wine . Lobster come in fresh off the boats every day. You can bring your own sides and picnic if you like. The prices are reasonable. The chowder was good (and hot) the corn was delicious. There is one area that's covered, the other tables have umbrellas. Sitting outside on the Water with a nice breeze eating lobster is the best New England experience. My party and I have been snacking all day on the beach and decided to come here for dinner. It was confusing at first because we thought the house in the front was the restaurant but in reality, it's a walk up window towards the water. The line was long when we got there but it moved pretty consistently. There was some live music. You can sit inside or outside. We shared the Fisherman's Platter, clam chowder and the Bing Bang shrimp. Shrimp was DELISH - sweet, tangy, spicy. The clam chowder didn't taste like your usual creamy chowder, it had depth. The bacon in the chowder really made a difference. Nothing really stood out from the Fisherman's platter, it was crispy and hot though, and we dipped it in Tartar sauce. If you're planning to share, ask for more sauce when you get your order because they don't give you enough sauce. I give it a 5/5 because it hit the spot and I felt satisfied. read more

Blue Collar Lobster We went for lunch - awesome location with great views. We both ordered fried scallops - large portion of scallops and large portion of fires served with it. Despite it being walk up service, it is not inexpensive by any means. You are paying for the dockside ambience. A lobster at $25, was more expensive than at Roy Moore's, and Roy throws in the cole slaw, which we purchased separately here. But it was the fried clams - whole clams with bellies -- that broke the bank at $45. I think the high price was due to the environmental factors at present, but still. I might have abstained, but as a New Yorker, I cannot visit New England without this indulgence - for some reason proper fried clams do not make it west of New Haven. Blue Collar's were beauties, but the portion size was somewhat disappointing as they arrived on a mound of french fries. Good fries though they were. read more

Came to town for the whale watching tour and spent the day in town. Decided on this place for a beer and loved that it was on the water. So I know it's a lobster house but one of my favorite food groups in a simple hot dog so no lobster for me this time. Ordered the dog and slaw 5.00 and a bud light 5.00 you can see what I like, cheap beer and cheap dog. So I know their hamburgers are frozen because I watched the lady with the blue and purple hair ( i'm sure natural ) busting the patties apart. But this hot dog had a great casing on it and flavor so if it's some cheap dog it was still great. The slaw had a lot of dressing which I like.
