Wow, amazing lobster rolls! This was our first stop upon visiting Rockport and we weren't disappointed. We came around 4:30 and it wasn't too busy yet, they had plenty of seating available in the back. The lobster rolls and chips were amazing - one of the best I've had! It started getting busy right when we were leaving. Come early if you want to grab a seat in the back!
This may be the best lobster roll I've ever had and the lobsters my friend had were also delicious. With shaded tables in the back, it was a very nice lunch.
Classic lobster rolls with a beautiful view of Rockport Harbor. Delicious and tasty. Try the homemade chowder too! We went on the weekend, there was a line but it didn't take long to get thru it. Definitely worth it.
Roy Moore Lobster is a very popular seafood spot in Bearskin Neck, Rockport! It's finally lobsta season & I'm glad we got to stop by. The line is a little long but does move quick. They have tables in the back & to get there, you have to walk through this tiny alley way. Note: not many tables available. Be prepared to possibly share a table with others! Here's what we ordered from our visit: - boiled lobsters 1 1/4 lb (2)-- $18/ea - clam chowder (4)-- $7/ea - smoked salmon --$8 - hot lobster roll-- $32 - stuffed clam (2)--$3/ea - Coca Cola We decided to get the 1lb1/4 boiled lobsters. It was $18/each and we got two of them. Looking back, we probably should've just gotten the 3/$50 deal but it's okay. This comes with melted butter on the side. Lobsters were fresh & easy to eat. No complaints here. My favorite was the clam chowder! It had the perfect consistency, not runny & not too thick. It was also pretty flavorful! The only thing I would've liked to add is a little salt but other than that, very good. I'm a lover of New England Clam Chowder & this was exactly what I was looking for! Now, as for the smoked salmon, I would not order this again. I don't really know how to feel about this to be honest but it just was not my cup of tea. I like baked salmon, broiled salmon, and fried salmon, but I did not like this. Very dry & bland. I personally had the hot lobster roll, which was sautéed in butter. Not bad overall. It was not the best hot lobster roll I've had but it was serviceable. I didn't expect it to be so tiny haha. Seems like lobster rolls in general have shrunk. For the price & the size, it's not bad. I've had $50 lobster rolls that were the same size and less enjoyable, so I guess I can consider this one a win! I think next time, I will opt for a boiled lobster instead. Lastly, the stuffed clams were all right. They were okay; more stuffing than clams. The food also wasn't very hot, just warm cold. Overall, not a bad spot to hit up for some fresh seafood. Prices aren't too bad & the food is definitely fresh!
I have eaten a lot of lobster rolls throughout Massachusetts and Maine, these were some of the best I've ever had. Absolutely packed with sweet, fresh meat and very lightly dressed. A+ lobster roll in my book, simply can't get better.
This is the literal definition of a mom and pop owned restaurant the menu is very simple lobster rolls, clams, baked clams ,clam chowder and a couple of other items ,its literally a tiny shack with the main floor for ordering. And tanks filled with live lobster. It was a spot run by and old man and a bunch of happy go lucky boys. They have about 6 tables set up in the back ,picnic style that you get to by walking along this narrow walkway between the two establishments. We ordered 2 lobster rolls one hot and one cold and had their side of kettle cooked potato chips that come with the order. The chips amazing a local brand as well as some bottled local lemonade also very good. They offer local beer hard ales hard lemonades and even an assortment of soft drinks and wines . The warm buttered lobster roll was good not the best I've ever had but good. Both rolls generous with the lobster.The cold one was literally just cold lobster on a roll. Im used to it having some tangy dressing type flavor. But this did not. So why am I give this place such a generous amount of stars. The order came fast they're dog friendly they allowed them in the seating areas and even gave both my dogs some salmon. the staff were so warm and inviting. They made you feel as if they knew you for years. I would definitely stop in again to try everything else but the cold lobster roll.
One of the best lobster spots in Massachusetts. Super fresh and very affordable! Ambiance: Outdoor seating with seven picnic-style tables and a small standing area. I even saw someone unloading crates of fresh lobsters, which was fun to watch. The only downside is the walkway to the seating is VERY narrow. Service was quick and efficient. Clam Chowder: Thick, creamy base with lots of flavor. There were plenty of potatoes but not a ton of clams. Still, the creaminess paired really well with the lobster. Lobster: Exceptionally fresh with a slight natural sweetness. Dipping it in melted butter made it even better. I also appreciated that they pre-cracked it, which made it so much easier to eat. Lobster Roll: Loved the buttery bread it was served on. The mayo was light but flavorful, and the sides included coleslaw and potato chips.
Great spot for fresh seafood in Bearskin Neck! You order at the front window and then make your way down a little alley out onto their back deck with picnic tables. There is also a bathroom connected to the deck which is a bit hidden (if you can't find it, ask the staff who were super friendly!). Once seated at a table, the staff will bring your order to you. Oysters were well sized - where they came from wasn't listed on the menu/signage, which I would've like to see. The stuffed clams were solid but felt like there could be a bit more clams in them personally.
Jumped in line to check out Roy Moore- it was pretty long line at 12:30p on a Sunday, but it took maybe 20-30 minutes before we got to the front to order. I ordered the boiled lobster (1.5-1.75 lb), one fish cake, one baked clam, clam chowder, and two oysters. I love that a lot is per piece here so you get to try a lot without committing! The service is great- the staff are super friendly. There's also drinks, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic, for purchase. You can opt to eat in the back patio, get it to-go, or "walking to-go", so you can eat as you walk down Bear Neck Skin. We opted for the patio, and it's a bit stressful. There's not too many tables, so I felt like I had to camp out for a spot. There's also a small section where you can stand and eat. They'll come out and bring your food to your table (but if you don't have one yet then you're holding the tray until you do). Everything came out piping hot- the fish cake and clam bake were interesting but the star was definitely the lobster. I enjoyed the clam chowder- definitely on the thicker side. There really isn't anything available for non seafood eaters (not even French fries since the lobster rolls come with a bag of chips), but there is a restaurant across the street that has hot dogs.
I so wanted to gatekeep this place... but they absolutely deserve the love. The price is unbeatable, the seafood is fresh and delicious, and they keep it simple--minimal cooking, maximum flavor. Everything just tastes like the ocean in the best way. Pair it with a cold beer and you're in heaven. The patio seating has a chill, coastal vibe, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Nothing fancy, just perfection in the purest New England seafood shack form.
Delicious food at a fair price. The back deck was busy but we were able to get a seat. It was a Sunday at lunchtime so it was not surprising that it was busy. It was also the first really beautiful day in awhile so everyone was out and about. I was glad that I chose this place for lunch on my first trip to Rockport. Staff was very friendly and helpful

Watching the fishermen bring in fresh lobster right from the ocean and then having it cooked on the spot was one of the coolest dining experiences we've ever had. Our 3-pound lobster was perfection--sweet, tender, and bursting with flavor. The shrimp and baked clams were just as incredible, cooked simply and beautifully to let the freshness shine. The staff made the whole experience even better--they were extremely friendly, welcoming, and entertaining, adding so much personality and fun to the meal. From start to finish, the food was outstanding and the atmosphere unforgettable. If you're in Rockport, this is a must-visit spot for seafood lovers. You won't find an experience--or lobster--like this anywhere else!
Excellent service, the host was very kind and let us know about the little hidden gem behind the restaurant! Boiled lobster was amazing, just a little hard to open despite being cracked. Clam chowder was unexpectedly delicious and warm! Do not recommend the stuffed clam, don't be fooled. I have had a better lobster roll but it was still decent. The main reasons for the five star here is the excellent service, nice outdoor patio views, and the hard-boiled lobster and clam chowder.
While visiting MA, we knew we had to eat a fresh lobster roll. The lobster was flavorful and the bun was nicely toasted. Paired with a clam chowder (with crackers), this was a hearty meal. There was outdoor seating in the back with some tables and standing booths. While waiting for our names to be called, we scouted and eventually were able to get a standing booth before our food arrived. Location is in Bearskin Neck so it was nice to be able to walk around the small shops after lunch. read more
Among my party, about half of us had been to Roy Moore Lobster before, it was the first (successful) visit for the other half since we had tried to visit before they opened for the season once. Looks like they are generally open 9am-6pm daily, sometime early May through year end. Order at the counter inside their little shop, pay, and head down the little alley (hold on tightly to your stuff so you don't accidentally drop anything enroute) to their back deck with limited seating, and access to their bathrooms. Listen up for your name and they will bring you your food on a tray. A family of three shared the 3 chicken lobsters for $50 during the 2025 season, and a dozen raw oysters for $30. My single lobster was $18. Single oysters $3 apiece. Creamy clam chowder $7. Stuffed clam $3. The $30 cold lobster roll came with cole slaw and a bag of chips. The hot dog roll looked small but was well filled with fresh sweet lobster meat. Her smoked salmon $8 were two thick chunks of fish. My hot in-shell boiled lobster arrived several minutes after, pre-cracked. Carefully poured out the green water, and I went at it. Making use of the sink by the bathroom afterwards to get cleaned up. A delicious way to start our outing to Rockport! BTW parking in the nearby area is paid and seasonal. Head to the kiosk, enter the license plate, pay an affordable price, and stick the slip on your dashboard. Parking tickets are no fun. read more

Roy Moore Lobster is a small shack in the middle of the street is pumping out lobsters. It would be impossible to get lobster any more fresh. I got a full lobster, and it was only $10, and was more than 2 pounds. An absolute bargain. My lobster came out in only a few minutes and was cooked perfectly. I am sure the rest of the food is just as fresh and delicious. read more

I've been coming to Roy Moore's for over 25 years, and it's still one of my favorite places on Cape Ann. While other spots nearby have changed hands or changed up their menus, Roy Moore's has stayed true to what they do best--fresh, simple, top-quality seafood, centered around local lobsters, which you will see get loaded off boats from the harbor the back. It's still run by the same family--Kenny, and his son John, and John's wife Lindsay, who came up with the updated (and delicious) fish cake recipe. The lobster, oysters, and smoked salmon are always a go-to for my wife and me. We often pull up in our 17-foot Boston Whaler and either sit out back, on the dock or take it to go. The other day we even purchased 10 lobsters and fish cakes to go for a family dinner. In addition, we pop next door to the market to pickup fresh local steamers, scallops, other fish to take home to cook up. Roy Moore's staff is friendly, full of character, and the quality has stayed consistently great year after year. Yes, the lines get long in summer--but that just shows how loved this place is. Come early if you can, or just enjoy the wait--it's worth it! read more

Really great lobster!! It was sweet and fresh. I liked the chips a lot too, very crispy and salty. They gave a good size portion of lobster. I got the hot butter lobster for $32. The cold mayo was cheaper for $30. Their seating area gets pretty busy, and there was a line to order every time I walked past, but it moves quickly. We ate in the back area by the water instead, just sat on the ground. read more
The best lobster roll and clam chowder we've ever had! Service was great with limited seating after a large group had arrived just before us. We sat outside along the walkway and met some new friends from Netherland. Would definitely recommend! read more
Great place for a fresh lobster roll; definitely lives up to the hype!! If you peak your head in the door, you'll see several tanks of fresh lobsters (and some cute decor). I ordered a cold lobster roll; there was a large amount of lobster, and minimal sauce, so the taste of the lobster was not disguised. Each roll comes with a bag of chips- and note that there is nice seating behind the restaurant on the water! The one thing I did not appreciate, and observed as I was eating at a table across the street, was the worker at the front took a lobster out of the water, and was letting little kids take pictures with it. The kids dropped the lobster SEVERAL times onto the hard asphalt, it was cruel and hard to watch, over and over again. read more
Absolutely loved this place! We came on a Monday and it was $40 for 3 lobsters. The lobsters were so fresh and juicy, exceeded my expectations. The seating area is behind the shop thru a tight alley to the right. It is an uncovered patio with tables and benches. They bring the lobsters out to you, very quick service! They make it so easy to take apart the lobster shell. You will need to use your hands, and that's part of the experience. As for parking, there isn't parking nearby. We parked on the nearby main street (paid parking) and walked down the cute little shopping area. I do recommend walking since it is such a lovely neighborhood. There are clean public restrooms a few blocks away (you can Google map it) read more

Rockport/Gloucester Day Trip, @websterbuffa88 and I ended up for Lunch at: Roy Moore Lobster Company on Downtown Rockport, we both got Clam Chowders and Hot Lobster Rolls....plus a Stuffed Clam, everything was so Fresh and right off the Boat too, they Bring Lobster in every like few minutes, we watched it and it fantastic! One of my favorite Lobster Rolls I've had yet, definitely recommend it read more
Great spot for some seafood on a nice day at the beach. I came here a year ago and was excited to come back for the Fish Cakes. Sadly, they sold out by the time I got there... so make sure to arrive early! That's the only reason I'm giving them 4 stars, not 5. I went with the lobster instead and boy was that a project for me! I'm no pro, so that thing kept me entertained, trying to get the meat out for a good hour. I'll be back next summer... and early enough to grab some Fish Cakes! read more
No better way to spend a day in the fall. Lobster is king here. Got 3 for $50. What a deal and what a feast. The lobsters are so juicy and sweet. Don't bother with the lobster rolls go for the real deal. The lobsters are perfectly cooked. Takes a little work to get to the meat but the reward is worth all the effort. Order you food and take a seat in the back patio and enjoy nothing fancy just good lobsters. read more

I love this place and try to get here as often as i can! Lobsters are always cooked and cracked very well. Great service as everyone has a good sense of humor. Can't beat the ambiance when you sitting at that back table by the water. Simple and delicious. read more

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun! We ended up setting up on a bench because the seating was all full on the patio. The boys working in the kitchen were all very friendly and hilarious. read more
It's been 5 years since my last trip to Rockport, so we were due for another visit to Roy Moore Lobster. We arrived around 11am on a Saturday so there was no wait and a good amount of seating out back, but we saw pretty long lines during lunch time. To note: there is no shade in the seating area, so bring a hat/sunscreen if you don't want to get sunburned on a sunny day! The menu is simple and ordering is easy. When we were there, they only had 1.75 pound lobsters as an option for $25 each (I think they otherwise have a 3x1.25lb lobster for $55 deal). The food came out quite quickly. They are very efficient. My favorite thing that we had were the oysters ($30 for a dozen). They were fresh, sweet, and clean-tasting. Some did have a bit of debris from the shell, but it was easily avoided. These are some of the best oysters I've had in a while (though to be fair I've only been eating $1 oysters recently). I would highly recommend trying them! The shrimp cocktail ($6 for 6) were also pretty good, and the cold shrimp paired well with the classic cocktail sauce. I thought this was a decent deal all things considered. The clam chowder ($7) was also decent, though nothing special. Sadly, the part that I didn't enjoy very much was the lobster. The hot lobster roll ($30) was a pretty good deal, but my favorite part was the buttery toasted bread. The lobster meat was rather tough. The 1.75lb lobsters ($25 each) were rather dry and tough/chewy, and I didn't enjoy eating them. I recall enjoying the lobsters more the last time I was here -- perhaps the smaller lobsters are more juicy/tender, or the cooking method was different. It's a lovely vibe to eat fresh seafood on the deck by the water. I would definitely recommend the oysters, but the lobster quality may depend on the day... read more

I'm pretty sure i'm a dumb Texan who doesn't know what she's talking about when it comes to lobster rolls ,but I searched high and low to get a good one. It led me to this town and this quaint spot near the shore. Now, I am not sure why people serve cold lobster rolls. I promise you i've searched for reasons and I can't understand it. I told myself surely that I only needed to experience it. And it may be worth it.. Unfortunately, I just don't get it. This place is amazing and awesome.. don't get me wrong. I'm just needing someone to help me understand why no one seems to sell hot or warm lobster rolls in MA. The consistency of the lobster was great, and the butter was hot. Something was just missing for me. I grew up eating ceviche, raw oysters, clams.. you name it! But lord, I just couldn't get myself to believe lobster is better served cold. Nonetheless, I recommend this place to get a great serving of lobster. Everything truly is fresh here, and everyone was welcoming... Very great service. Maybe one day I'll understand why MA doesn't have hot lobster rolls, but today ain't the day. This little joint is still highly recommended for all of yall that love cold lobster rolls! read more

Solid place for seafood in Rockport. I've had better lobster rolls and oysters elsewhere at a lower price point, but just from glancing around at what others ordered, we should have gotten the whole boiled lobster. The roll had plump, juicy chunks of fresh lobster meat, with not too much mayo, but the roll itself was pretty average - a touch on the stale side, too bread-y, not toasted or buttery. The dozen oysters were cheaper than most of the restaurants in Gloucester but, at the same time, a lot smaller. Definitely get here early to avoid both a wait for ordering and a wait to find a table in the small deck tucked away in the back. You can also ask for your food to-go and eat it in a cardboard tray on a bench overlooking the water. It's small, no-frills place, but the staff were friendly and super fast with getting out food and making sure people had their orders.
