Yes! Yes! Yes! Or should I say, "Si! Si! Si!" My family and I discovered this place one year ago, and have eagerly been returning to it ever since. When it comes to Grilled Fish Tacos, I am beyond anal with my expecations of what I expect to receive, for most places will serve the dish over cooked and beyond dried out. That is not at all the case at Casa Tequila! After at least 5 to 6 visits in the past year, and ordering the same dish each time, and I can truly confirm that this place is consistant, with their quality ingredients and overall passion for their menu. The service has always been a pleasurable experience and feels very much like everyone who works there is family. Bueno! I came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. This place is huge with 3 floors of dining which I was not expecting. Our party was held on the third floor... Dinner was served buffet style, but we started with the always-addicting chips & dips: salsa, guacamole and cheese dip. The taco bar buffet was perfect and had the usual options: chicken, steak, pork, hard & soft shells, refried beans, rice, etc. My husband and I both raved about how good the hot sauce is. Came here to try something new in Salem and felt like tacos. Server was friendly. Chips and salsa were good, and my mom ordered the chicken tortilla soup and enjoyed that. I got the chicken tacos and they were very basic; looked like the shells were Old El Paso with iceberg lettuce and a cheddar and Jack cheese mix. We visited Salem in October and as we drove by, I gotta admit, the tequila caught my eye. After our tour, we had to grab a bite. The restaurant was huge inside and we must have hit it at a good time, because it wasn't busy at all. I opted for the grapefruit margarita...grapefruit drinks are my jam. It was delicious, not too sweet. I saw my go-to dish on the menu, chile verde, and I couldn't resist. It was well prepared, delicious flavor, good portions. I really enjoyed this place! We came here spur of the moment after realizing bamboleo wasn't a full menu anymore. I got the burrito wrap which was amazing. I didn't get a picture of the inside but it had everything! Guacamole, meat, pico de Gallo, cheese, you name it! It was seriously amazing. My husband got the pina loca which came served on a pineapple which was so cute! It had a special sauce that he left no droppings of! And there was plenty of meat and vegetables on top. I tried a bit and it was really great! We also had salsa and Queso to start with chips which were both great! The salsa was refreshing and so tasty! The queso was also really enjoyable! The restaurant doesn't look like much but it's actually quite massive on the inside! We went pretty early for lunch so we didn't see much people initially however it got pretty packed later in the day - even with a line forming outside! The staff is nice and really hard working. That being said, they tried their best with the long lines of people forming (during Halloween season of course) but the service to get our checks took a good amount of time. I had the Diablo margarita and I enjoyed the spiciness of it. The wife and I split the steak burrito. The steak was cooked well but was unfortunately lacking flavor. The rice and beans were good. We only had drinks -- horrible. I appreciate our server as she tried to remake it twice but sadly it was just repeatedly warm and so watered down. We used to order delivery from Casa Tequila fairly frequently, but this is now the worst delivery experience I've ever seen. Our last order had some pretty disappointing food, but we let it slide and decided to order again because my kids love it. We ordered from DoorDash, but the driver got there and they'd given our food to someone else. The driver accidentally indicated "accept" instead of "cancel," but kindly drove to our house anyway to let us know what happened. I called the restaurant just trying to figure out how exactly our food was given away and see there was any way they'd be willing to help, and the manager was awful. She was extremely rude and gave me numerous excuses - she first claimed that someone gave the name on the order (which is nearly impossible, as my husband has a very unusual name), then that WE cancelled the order (there was not, and there was nothing indicating this on our account, which DoorDash verified), and then claiming that the DoorDash driver did pick it up and must have stolen it (...and then drove to our house to tell us?! Wild, unfounded accusation). No offers whatsoever to help re-place the order, no offers for any discounts or anything to help rectify the situation - just excuses and cop-outs, none of which made sense, and then hung up on me. The Halloween weekend seems to be tough for any restaurant and Casa Tequila is no exception. Even though the restaurant has different levels of seating, it is very much short of staff. The wait to enter was for 15 mins. We sat in and ordered our drink. Our server served us two rounds of nachos. Our drinks came after we finished the nachos. We ordered different margaritas and the server didn't ask if we need salting or not. So obviously my drink came without any salting. And the server had no time either to change my drink, or to even listen to the orders twice. Anyway they were too late to even give us drink that too without salting on the margarita. My wife sensing my frustration asked for some salt on the side. The server came back with it. That was just the first hour We had a lot to order. The food reached after 1.5 hours. Seems like years if you are hungry. They had huge portions. Food wasn't bad. The fajitas got stuck to the skillet and the skillet wasn't properly greased. The drinks were okayish. Overall we had a good time since we had a nice corner table outside, but it was mostly for the companies that we had and not so much credit goes to the restaurant. In between a different server came over and took some of our drinks order. Casa Tequila won't have been our first preference, seems to be the same for everyone else. We stopped in here for a rest, some margaritas, and bean dip to tie us over until dinner. We were in and out within 45 minutes so everything came very quickly. I asked for my margarita to be spicy and they did a great job with making it the perfect mix. The bean dip was delicious as well however the chips did taste a little stale. read more

I wanted to talk about the history of the building, my recollection of it being Roosevelt's, then Murphy's, the supposed apparitions of ghosts reported in the building (being located next to the old-burying point cemetery). So I come to the desk and stand there for 5 minutes, with multiple servers on their cell phones talking amongst themselves and occasionally looking up at me then back to their phones. I get it, the hostess manages guests coming in. When the hostess comes out she's polite, showed me to my table outside. I sat and waited, server came out, I ordered a guava margarita. So the drink comes out, I drink a little bit. Then I noticed something brown and speck-like. Fruit fly. Then I see multiples. Aaaaaand I'm done. I walk to the hostess desk, inform her I will not pay for the drink and explain why. If this is the quality from the restaurant, then my business is going elsewhere. Also, after looking through some other reviews, there was the same complaint made 2 months before this review, so this is not an isolated incident but a continuing problem. You have Howling Wolf and Spitfire in Salem, there are more options in the area, and this is a huge disappointment for downtown Salem. read more

This place had 3 floors and outdoor dining! I just thought that was so cool. Anyways, I never have Mexican food so I took soooo long on the menu but the waiter helped me pick and I got the Shrimp Quesadilla. I loved it! The shrimp was really flavorful and the guacamole was super good but I never eat guacamole so I don't really know how to tell good guac from bad guac, but it was tasty! I was going to leave a terrible review but quick action by someone who was either the owner or manager turned it around. I use paratransit run by the T (the public transit) and have been using a cane after a fall last month where I hurt my knee. My knee is fine now but I am terrified of falling again. Anyway, I figured lunch on cinco de Mayo would be less crowded than dinner so I arranged a Meetup group. It was about 45 degrees and threatening rain when I arrived so the patio, though covered was out. The door from the patio was locked even though my waiter told me it shouldn't have been and the host locked it after he opened it for me. Then he tells me I can't sit downstairs. Only upstairs. He gets so someone else to tell me the same thing and I show him the cane and tell him I can't walk up the stairs. But when my meetup friends arrive, they can dine upstairs and I will sit downstairs for two hours until the paratransit arrives to take me home and I won't order anything and he seemed fine with that. Basically he said he was just following orders. Then the owner or manager finally comes over and looking like he's a bit panicked or concerned about making this right, tells me they will accommodate me downstairs. I still have no clue why they weren't serving anyone downstairs because there was more than enough room to properly distance people there (they were saying it had something to do with Cinco de Mayo and they were "expecting to get slammed" that night but this was around 12:15 in the afternoon). I just left it if they had posted dining only upstairs and not handicapped accessible on their website, I would have gone elsewhere. But with a smile, and throwing the second guy under the bus (he's new, he doesn't know), I didn't push it further. I shared the Garlic Shrimp Nacho appetizer and it was the perfect amount of garlic and thankfully was not swimming in cheese. I did leave wishing they served the shrimp alone without the nachos, like the shrimp you can get at a tapas bar but I'd get it again. One of the best experiences I've ever had in Salem. I was there with a group of people and ALL were welcome! No discrimination of any kind. Very inclusive and welcoming. The menu was excellent and they have a number of vegetarian options which is great! There were close to 20 of us and the staff went out of their way to accommodate. I wish though they didn't wear the mask because I'm sort of hard of hearing so people had to tell me what they were saying. Me and one other person was having a hard time hearing thru the mask. They don't work anyway so I hope soon they'll just drop them. Besides what's better than to be welcomed with a smiling face. Awesome experience. read more

My husband and I are in Salem for vacation. We walked by this place several times before deciding to have lunch here. I'm so glad we did. Very nice find in Salem. My dining partner and I decided to go to Salem for Valentine's Day and were just going to wander until something caught our eye. I will say even though it was freezing we did wander for about 10 minutes so didn't jump at the first place (although I kind of wanted to...) and when we passed by Casa Tequila it looked so inviting we decided to go in and I'm glad we did! The decor is amazing. They could film a western there and wouldn't have to change anything. There are two floors and the place felt very alive and inviting. We were seated upstairs where there was live music which was cool. Really enjoyed listening to the woman who was performing, she had a great voice and covered many recognizable pop hits. Our waiter was nice. We asked if they could make a special drink but he didn't know what we meant, alas. The menu is huge. There's something for everyone on there. I loved the free tortilla chips and the house made salsa (that was amazing). Conveniently on the wall of our booth was their Valentine's Day special which had the molcajete azteca meal to share plus two flavored margaritas and a dessert for just $44.99. We went with that and were not disappointed! Somehow I've never had slushy style margaritas before and woah. These drinks were huge and so so good. Went with strawberry and mango and both were delicious and loaded with alcohol. I really felt it when I finished mine. They mean business with the drinks! The molcajete azteca was a spicy meal in a large pot (we called it the Black Cauldron after the children's novel since it felt never ending) that had shrimp, beef and chicken along with spices and peppers and onions with just tons of cheese sitting on top that melted as we ate it. My only complaint was the chicken was somehow all together and it was hard to pull off a piece. Otherwise, great flavors! It also came with a very small plate of fried beans and Spanish rice. I think that portion was pretty small considering it also came with corn wraps to use to with the ingredients in the pot. We felt so full we didn't ask for more but it ran out pretty fast. We did ask for more wraps which were delivered with no problem. Finally, the dessert was a huge mound of vanilla ice cream with apples and whipped cream.
