Crispy Calamari

The views on the patio are so beautiful!! We enjoyed the food as well, our waitress also did a good job. We would definitely try it again! It was really nice to have the water so close that you can walk it before or after your meal as well

First time is Salem! So far we have enjoyed! We decided to stop at sea level, the service was great, the atmosphere is calm and the food taste so good because of my allergy's they accommodate that pretty well. Thank you Definitely I recommend

Fantastic restaurant on the harbor of Salem. We had a water view and enjoyed every minute of it. We had the jerk chicken sandwich which I really can't say how much I enjoyed it! Perfectly seasoned jerk chicken and slaw the habanero sauce was not too spicy and it was just really really good! The fried shrimp was also excellent! We have been recommending to eat here to friends who recently traveled to Salem (they had a great experience as well) and on many social media boards! Can't wait to go back!

Fantastic fresh seafood with views of the wharf. The servers were very nice and explained the different types of seasoning for the seafood. I had the local cod and my daughter had the stuffed lobster. We started with the baked oysters and everything was amazing. I also loved the Halloween decorations and the view of the wharf.

Incredible lobster roll. Incredible Service. Right on the water which was a great vibe! They were caring of gluten allergies as well, and informed us of cross contamination risk which is always great to know.

Callie, our server, was wonderful! The menu had a great selection. The seafood combo and linguine with clams are must-tries. The location is fantastic and perfect for taking a walk before or after dinner. Highly recommend!

WOW the seafood was fresh and delicious! Excellent oysters and giant shrimp, and I highly recommend the lobster taquitos!! They are large enough to split. It was a little noisy downstairs with not much to look at. Definitely recommend upstairs with a view of the harbor. They seemed understaffed this friday night- we were served by the bartender who made me some excellent dirty gin martinis. Check out the rest of the drink menu for fun! Crazy loaded bloody mary on there and some yummy looking seasonal rotating cocktails.

If you're looking for a great seafood place that is off the beaten path, especially during the peak of Halloween craziness, Sea Level Oyster Bar is that. The restaurant has two levels, we were quickly seated upstairs during their lunch rush. We're big fans of local brews and oysters - which Sea Level delivers on. We had 3 different types of oysters - all of which were excellent. We split an order of fried calamari, drunken sailor clams and fish tacos. The fried calamari had cherry peppers, so beware of a kick, the drunken sailor clams is an absolute must, and the fish tacos were solid but a bit on the dry side. All of our food was great, our waitress was attentive and we had beautiful views of the harbor. If we're ever back in the Salem area, we've both agreed Sea Level will be our first stop.

Worst bloody mary I've ever had! $41 for some seafood slapped onto a drink. The lobster still had it's digestive track left for me to eat! Yay what a treat! The only redeeming this was the view. Staff was cold!

Had the fresh oysters at Sea Level Oyster Bar and they were excellent--clean, flavorful, and super fresh - And at only $1.50 each? Hard to beat. The clam chowder was very tasty too! The service was great and they were very nice. Definitely coming back.

Service was fantastic. A storm Was quickly approaching and servers and customers all worked together to pull down the plastic side walls for the outdoor deck. The view from the deck is peaceful and creates a nice nautical setting to the great food and drink! I liked my spicy mocktail and when I asked if the seared scallops dish could be put on top of pasta, the server and kitchen created a completely new fish for me not on the menu. That is how you meet the needs of your customers. I would love to go back!

What we ate.

The food is always incredible! This time I did not enjoy my meal. This place has a broken air conditioner and still expects people to pay full price for a meal and sweat. 102 outside about 95 inside. If I wanted to be overheated while eating I would have requested an outdoor dining experience. Not a hotbox eating expensive meal with the heat on inside. Place is great. Manager said that the A/C is broken and that they don't know when it will be repaired. The owner knows. If the owner get someone down to his restaurant and have it fixed ASAP. The calamari was over done and the soda was flat. The sea bass was great but couldn't enjoy it eating in a restaurant that has no A/C.

Last September, my girlfriends and I visited Salem for a witchy adventure. We decided to go with the flow and pick the first restaurant we saw as we explored the area. Fortunately, luck was on our side because we ended up loving our lunch! We shared oysters and a variety of tacos, and they were not only delicious, but the experience was enjoyable despite the longer-than-usual wait caused by our order being accidentally sent to the wrong table. The bartender was great and treated us well while we waited. It was a beautiful day, so we also enjoyed our meal outside. If I return to Salem, I would definitely go back!

The ambiance was nice, service was fine. Nice casual place. But food was not good, tasted off, and made me sick. Nothing seemed fresh.

Ask the Community - Sea Level Oyster Bar

Hey there! Does anyone know if Sea level allows customers to have their luggage with them while they are seated eating? Or even outside to eat? Our rental would not allow us to drop off luggage before it was ready.. Thanks!

Yes, it seemed casual enough to allow that. Plus they have a front desk where they might be able to store the items for you.

Is there a dollar oyster special? Any happy hour special? Thanks

Not when I was there they only had drink and pizza specials and they do not appear to have a happy hour menu.

All Souls Lounge in Salem was the perfect sanctuary. It's a small, intimate spot that fills up fast, if you don't get there early, you'll be left haunting the sidewalk waiting for a table. Luckily, they offer outdoor seating, which was great for cooling off after spending two hours surrounded by ceremonial candles. The service was remarkably fast for a packed house. The cocktails were delicious and flavorful, though if you're looking to banish your inner demons in one sip, note that they aren't the absolute strongest in town. What really stole the show, however, was the food menu: they have a massive selection of gourmet grilled cheeses and hot dogs. Speaking of which: after finishing my meal, I went home inspired to attempt another quick ritual. I was trying to summon an ancient Hot Dog Spirit to bless my midnight snack cravings, but I mangled the Latin incantation and accidentally conjured a Grilled Cheese Ghost instead. Now my apartment smells like toasted sourdough, and there is a glowing ectoplasmic slice of melted cheddar hovering over my couch. Overall, a fantastic spot to refuel whether you're a local, a tourist, or just an exhausted practitioner of the dark arts. Highly recommend!

Over the next 20 minutes (without service or even a "come to the bar to order even though you're sitting at a table") we watched as three more couples walked in, met by the bartender (who passed by us to accomplish ) brought to a table, and then served. When the second bartender came out from around the bar, we perked up, only to find them addressing yet another couple that arrived after us. We got zero drinks, we got zero acknowledgment. For a bar that says "all souls welcome", we certainly did not feel it.

Today was the pork belly tacos, the taco salad, and some beeyahs. Delicious tacos once again, crema, pickled radish, and jalapeño makes a delicious bite. Pork belly alone was underseasoned, but the whole bite makes it worth it! The bucket of taco salad was filled with choice of shredded beef. Done well, dressed nicely tourist pricing but that's normal all around town. I like coming here in the afternoons or later lunches for a relaxing time, good food, and a great atmosphere.

The food is nothing spectacular, though it's not bad either--just kinda mid. We had the ceviche, which was decent for $16. The drink menu itself is really cool, but it is very overpriced. Because we had already had a couple of drinks elsewhere and were mostly just buying time, we opted to stick with water. The ambiance is easily the best part of the experience. It's a fun, lively rooftop bar that sits right in the middle of everything in town. It offers some nice views directly over the main pedestrian street in Salem, though honestly, beyond that, you can't see much else. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We didn't have a reservation and weren't thrilled with the seats we were given, but that's fair game for walking in. It's a neat place to stop in for a quick view if you're passing through, but be prepared for typical tourist-heavy prices for drinks.

OMG the views are amazing…read more. Went right in the middle of their tourist season, yes its 2 months long at least and it gets crowded for a small village standard. this place has parking but its a first come first serve and it gets hard when everyone else is looking for one. Outdoors is dog friendly and I made some furry friends while sitting out for a drink! The German style beers they have on tap included some unique finds and some styles you don't see too often. Bartenders were very friendly and helpful when I was trying to decide what to get, as lagers and ales are not my usual go tos but made up the majority of the offerings. I got the Salem Ale, a helles style, in a half pour- I love that they offer this smaller size since their other glasses are absolutely massive! This was an easy drinking, smooth beer with low hops, just what I wanted for a hot summer day when I only had limited time to spend here. My drinking partner also enjoyed their selection, and we really enjoyed the location. Would love to go back, very chill vibes and the people there were all so friendly and happy, patrons and employees alike - a rare occurrence in Massachusetts!

Indoor and outdoor space is plenty and the service team is well equipped to handle the masses. We got there right in the middle of the mess and we're seated promptly. The menu is not huge, its the same basic ingredients reused for different items. I had the steak tips with Mexican rice and beans, guacamole and a bit of lettuce. It was great. Ps add a bit of Howling sause but its not hot, well i like hot. The other adults plates were also good but with the caveat below. Its not real Mexican, its americanized Mexican.. Not Chipotle nor taco bell but you can tell as they use flour tortillas instead of corn. I know, i go to mex restaurants every Tuesday and can tell when its legit vs just good food.
