Grilled chicken fajitas
Matt P.

Being relatively new to the greater Boston area, I checked out the Lynnfield MarketStreet on a Friday night with a new friend. Temazcal Tequila Cantina was his suggestion as a great spot for dinner. Around 5 PM we had no trouble getting a table. The interior decor was nice and they really play up the Cantina aspect, with entire walls covered with liquor bottles (and, obviously, dozens upon dozens of different types of tequila). I ordered the grilled chicken fajitas: lime marinated grilled chicken, jicama, onion, Chihuahua cheese (a mild white cheese for melting), poblano, red pepper, and avocado served with flour tortillas, Mexican rice, and black beans. The presentation was nice, coming out on the sizzling skillet like most fajitas do, but the 3 tiny flour tortillas provided were definitely not enough for the portion size, leaving more than half the meal without any tortillas to eat with. Knowing restaurants like this, I was not about to ask for more flour tortillas and be charged extra, on top of the already overpriced $24. Taste wise, it was the definition of average. So was the service, nothing that stood out or wowed me. Reflecting back, it was the most expensive Mexican food I've ever dined out for. Ultimately the prices are high at Temazcal because of its location in Lynnfield. I wouldn't ever go back, and after walking around MarketStreet, the entire area seems like Lynnfield's attempts at Rodeo Drive.

Birria Tacos

I loved that they give you 3 dips for your complimentary tortilla chips (salsa, salsa verde, and refried black beans). It was a nice treat when we arrived. That was probably my favorite part We ordered the margaritas, my fiance and his mom liked them, it tasted like a regular margarita to me. For entrees we got the veggie tacos, birria tacos, and chorizo enchiladas. Honestly, I was really confused by the Spanish rice, I'm not used to having all of those ingredients in there. The flavor was also pretty bland. As for the birria tacos, they were actually pretty good, but weird they didn't give you consommé with it. They gave you black beans (very liquidy) and this maybe mole sauce? Overall, I think it's a standard chain Mexican place. I wouldn't mind going back, I really did enjoy the complimentary chips haha

Fajita and sides

We went Friday night because it was so beautiful out and we were craving fajitas. We were sat quickly and got a spot on the patio. You are given 3 types of dip with your chips: salsa, bean dip, and green salsa. The regular salsa literally tasted like tomato paste. We were not fans. The others were bland. We ordered some guacamole and it was decent, but truly lacked the flavor most have. When ordering the fajitas we were asked if we wanted cheese, not knowing this meant cheese melted on top of the chicken instead of on the side. A little disappointing. The like flavor was very overwhelming with the chicken but it was cooked well. They give you plenty of tortillas, but could use more peppers. Overall, meh. Not sure we'll be back.

Fuego and Fresca margaritas

My friend and I stopped here for a quick set of drinks before grabbing food nearby. The hostess was kind and quick to seat us as there were plenty of seats on a Thursday just after noon. While munching on their complimentary chips and dip (red is spicy, green sweet, and brown is refried beans with bacon and cheese), we decided on trying their Fuego and Fresca margaritas. Both were tasty and sweet enough where the alcohol was barely noticeable. Dare I say, even questionably there. We had a good time and I would be interested in coming again.

This place lives up to the hype - the corn tortillas are tasty and a bit fluffy, but structured…read moreenough to hold up to all the taco toppings and not fall apart. A lot of places double up on the tortillas for this reason, but no need here. We ordered the birria, carnitas, and cabeza tacos, chicken sopes, beans, rice, sweet plantains, sweet rice pudding and horchata. Standouts were the carnitas and cabeza for me - very delicious in their simplicity, the meat is seasoned and cooked to perfection. Birria was also very good but overhyped IMO (novelty factor). The chicken sopes were way bigger than expected, could easily be a meal on its own and the masa tart was pretty good. Our table liked the green sauce to add zip to the food. It was very sunny when we went, so it was blinding and hot to be sitting inside, hope they install a shade at some point. They seem to only serve in takeout containers, so eating at a table requires getting a bit creative for a "plate" etc. There's a small lot behind the building and street parking is pretty easy. I will definitely be returning to try the lengua and more things next time!

Have had this place on my list to try and it is a must! SO delicious. I cannot wait to go again and…read moretry more! We got the carne asade and chicken taco especial, the hibiscus tea, and churros! The tacos were delish! I usually opt for flour tortillas, however they make their corn tortillas and they are the soft ones, so I wanted to try it as it comes - I was not disappointed! The tacos come in 4 to a meal, so we so split two and two. Naturally, I prefer steak but both the chicken and steak were phenomenal. Lots of flavor!! The taco especial, has onions and cilantro and a nice lime squeeze on the side that is a nice flavor burst and addition. If you want the lettuce, cheese, tomato, etc. then you want the americano version. The tacos come with two sauces, both of which were spicy but you can tell were made/fresh! But that hibiscus tea - wow!! So delish! It was sweet and flavorful and a sip of freshness!! The churros were also incredible. Not that I didn't think I'd like the dulce de leche filling but it was um-yes yum! The outside was nice and crispy obv coated in cinnamon and sugar and then the inside was soft and doughy but not raw dough, just perfection. The dipping sauce was excellent too - they could provide a little bit more of it but we made it work. Anyways, highly recommend. It's fresh and authentic- clearly homemade with good ingredients!! Can't wait to try more from the menu!
