We went to Terramar yesterday (3/14/25), and while the food was pretty good, the overall experience wasn't decent. We got seated within 5 minutes since the place wasn't full yet. Our server took about 10 minutes to come over, but he brought our drinks out fast. We both ordered the Ceviche Campechano, which was good -- I've had other ceviches that packed more lemon and cilantro flavor, but this one still hit the spot. It came with saladita crackers, which felt weird at first, but ended up working really well. The service went downhill from there, though. It took forever for our server to check on us after the food came. Eventually, I noticed he was also bartending, which explained a lot. The place got packed while we were there, and drink orders were nonstop. He didn't come back, and I had to flag someone else down to ask for him, but he still never came. We decided to share dessert and got the churros with vanilla ice cream. The portion was good for sharing, but the churros were hard as a rock and impossible to eat. The ice cream was okay, nothing special. We asked for the check as soon as the dessert came because, at that point, we knew it'd take another 20 minutes to get it, and we were right. The whole thing ended up taking about 3.5 hours, which was way too long for what it was. It was hard to hear each other as the pace kept getting packed and the music was getting louder. Parking is decent. Street parking is free after 6 pm (Monday-Saturday), and I think they have a small lot behind the restaurant, but I've never used it. Honestly, the food was good, but the slow service and crazy wait times really ruined the night. I get that they were busy and understaffed, but it still shouldn't have taken that long. Not sure if I'd go back anytime soon. read more

The birria tacos were flavorful and absolutely delicious. The buffalo chicken was a tasty surprise, and the margarita was strong and refreshing. Service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant is beautifully decorated and very clean--such a nice vibe. Prices were affordable for the quality of food and service. I went on a date here on Wednesday around 4 pm. We found street parking easily. It was quiet when we came in and we waited a couple minutes before being seated at a booth. The inside is pretty and has a nice bar. We ordered waters (which come in bottles fyi) and I got a strawberry colada which was so good (just strong enough). The chips and salsa were delicious, as well as the mixtas pupusa I ordered. I also ordered guacamole, but I was surprised when our server came out with a big bowl garnished with chicharron. I guess they have a normal guac and a house guac, but I never specified the house guac - I simply asked for guacamole. This would've been fine except that the house guac is $24! If I'd known how expensive it was I would've fixed the issue when they brought it out, so that was an unfortunate surprise when we opened the bill. Either way, it was really tasty. For main courses we ordered the carne asada and the quesabirria, both of which we LOVED. There's no doubt that the food is spectacular here. The service was a bit slow but I'm assuming it's because it was an odd time of day so they only had one server. Overall I'd definitely go again. read more

First time here and we will be back! We had carnitas tacos, and the skirt steak entree. Both were great. The steak was high quality and a great price! For drinks we had a house margarita and the Terramar cocktail. Both just strong enough and tasty to have with the food. The service and vibe were great, too. read more

This place opened about six months ago, I usually go to el taco guapo, figured I give this place a shot. First off, very cool vibe, all black walls with some cool authentic Mexican looking tables and chairs. I sat at the bar and ordered a Mexican Mai tai which was incredibly strong, which I liked a lot. Soon I had some chips and salsa which were absolutely delicious. I ordered the tres enchiladas with rice and beans because that's what I always order first at a Mexican restaurant, if they can do that well, then I'm sold. The food was brought out quickly, was piping hot, fresh and delectable... the verde sauce was light and vibrant with a hint of citrus, the chicken was tender, moist and succulent. I loved the rice and beans as well. I'll definitely be back, this is a great spot to bring a date. read more

Went to lunch on Friday and we will definitely be back. We sat at the bar and while looking at the menu, the owner, Daniel, came over and introduced himself. He recommended the Grilled Octopus appetizer (pulpo a la parrilla) and I am so glad I got that. It came served with grilled potatoes over a salad. The octopus was tender and had a great chimichurri sauce. There was also a hot sauce that had great flavor and heat. This was a perfect lunch meal for me. My husband got the Carne Asada which came with rice and beans and a small salad. The steak was so very tender and flavorful - the best we have had recently. We both got margaritas, not sure which ones, as there are several, but they were great. Everyone was very attentive and friendly. It has some beautiful art work on the walls. Although the elotes weren't what I was expecting; they where too limey and just 1 cob cut into 3 smaller pieces; I don't think I'd buy it again. But the rest of the food was great. Service was alright they mainly speak spanish but don't let that stop you from going! Ambiance was somewhat cozy but could probably fix some light fixtures. I have been here twice and to eat dinner and ordered takeout once. The salmon tacos and shrimp tacos are excellent as well as their rice and beans which come with these dishes. The Birria tacos were very flavorful and I would recommend this place for a girls night or even a date night as the drinks are very tasty and there a good amount of unique options such as the Mexican mai tai which was great. My apologies for the lengthy post.. but this took so much from me to not snap. Yesterday, i went to Terra mar Mexican Grill in south Lawrence with my 2 girls friends to celebrate my graduation. The waiter came by and took our drink and appetizer orders. )Im the only one out of the 3 of us who speaks spanish). The waiter struggles to take our order, 2 green tea shots, she kept saying green martini and i kept correcting her. A coconut margarita she kept asking what flavor and i kept repeating myself coconut, a guacamole with Chicharon and elote corn. She comes back with our drinks and she points to me and my friend sitting next to each other and says " you guys were here when the fire alarm went off, and you guys left a tab that i had to pay" im translating this to my friends n also stating to the waitress that this is our first time in this restaurant. She proceeds to say no no no i remember you guys and i keep telling her that shes mistaken that we've never been there. She even says one of the girls had glasses and points to my friend with glasses. She leaves and comes back with our appetizers but now we feel some type of way and ask another waitress for the manager. The manager comes and we explained the situation and we let her know that we have never been to this establishment and this is our first time here and we don't feel comfortable getting accused of skipping on a bill when we've never been here. So the manager gets the waitress, brings her to our table and says these ladies are saying that you are accusing them of being here and skipping out on a bill. The waitress says no I simply just asked if they were the ones that were here last time when the fire alarm went off and I said no no no you never asked you assumed and accused us of being those ladies and we keep telling you that that's not us. The manager asked the waitress did you ever bring up a tap to them and she says no and I said well how do we know about a tab and she responds because it was them who left it behind. I've never felt so embarrassed and humiliated and pissed off in my life where I had to control my temper because I was in front of so many people and I didn't wanna make a scene but I got up and me and my friends walked out to the front then I said actually let's pay this tab of appetizers and drinks so that they're not accusing us of walking out on a tab so we were charged $70 for two green tea shots one coconut margarita one order of guacamole and one order of corn the manager came over and said we removed the dinner plates from your bill and I said obviously, I was expecting that as we never received our order the manager and the waitress proceeded to give us attitude roll their eyes on us and standby as we paid for our tab and just left I will never ever ever step foot in that establishment again as I felt discriminated because one of our friends had glasses as I felt humiliated because they were accusing us of walking out on a tab.. read more

Three and a half stars. Where this place excels is in the atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the flavor of the food. My notes are that some of the food was cold, the kid's burger was way too oily, and there didn't seem to be alcohol in the margarita. Came for a meal... the food came quick but the waitress didn't come to check it everything was okay or needed. Once the food was done we asked for the check. We got the check and the total was 60 dollars with some change. We gave the card and the waitress comes back after a few minutes. When we went to sign the receipt we realized we were charged a total of 200 dollars. When it was addressed to another waitress the person who charged the card comes to the table and addresses that they did a refund. 200 dollars was well over what we actually got and she said it would take 3-5 business days to go back into my banking account. I then just asked for the cash and she was rude and stated "you never told me cash or card" as if she even gave me the option to chose. She never asked. When asked for the manager she says "well I am the manager" and laughed. After all do this the waitress has the nerves to say "well I need to charge your again for the 60 and some change". I would never go back. She didn't apologize for the mistake so it made it feel as if it was not as much of a mistake as we thought it was. Thieves. Liars.
