What says Easter better than a nice Mexican meal? Well let's start with the chips and salsa. The chips used to warm and fresh with a matching salsa. Today the place seemed a bit slow so maybe they didn't have the need to have a fresh batch constantly being made. Regardless they were acceptable and the salsa was good. I ordered the Pescado Azteca. Came out quickly and nice and hot! Kudos for not making the dish swimming in cheese sauce! Just enough to mix with the shrimp and veggies with a little bit to flavor the already seasoned white fish. Fish was a little bit dry, but the fresh veggies and shrimp livened it up. Mexican rice was good, could use a little more seasoning in my opinion but overall a well made rice. Overall a good experience and happy that I was not auto-tipped on the bill. Though that practice has not stopped and I witnessed the table next door deal with that situation. I'm happy to get my fix for Mexican food here and hoping the service remains top notch! read more

Met a friend for a late lunch at what was meant to be a convenient midpoint for both of us. First-time visit--and, sadly, not a repeat. The menu proudly advertised a variety of margaritas, which initially felt promising on a Friday. SOLD! That optimism was short-lived. Parking technically exists, but the lot is so narrow it feels more like a trust exercise. Drive straight or prepare to exchange insurance information. We were seated quickly, which was great. Unfortunately, the booth area we were placed in was very dark--white text on a pink background in low lighting is certainly... a choice. Vision test unlocked. Our waiter? Service was present but forgettable. No name, no personality, no guidance. We weren't informed about the lunch menu until after our food arrived--because it was never mentioned. No recommendations, no upsell, no effort to engage. Prices leaned high, which would've been acceptable if the food had arrived hot. Instead, everything landed in that awkward lukewarm zone as if it had been sitting patiently, waiting for us to lower our expectations. The drinks were... confusing. My friend and I ordered the same margarita. Hers arrived a deep purple sangria-adjacent color. Mine came out pale and peach-toned. Same drink, allegedly. Consistency was not invited to the party. We weren't rushing--this was a rare chance to catch up. We ordered multiple margaritas, an appetizer, and entrées. Despite this, the server made it very clear that our continued presence was inconvenient. This was apparently unacceptable. Our waiter made it very clear he was not into us hanging around. Overall: atmosphere was decent, but the vibe wasn't friendly or particularly welcoming. I can see from the low score, that the Yelp reviewers are on to this place. Place. The Google reviews are much too kind. But again, AI bots have been posting fake reviews on establishments for the last 7 years. I'll keep it short, this restaurant looks the part... But fails heavily in service and food quality. . Is no manager on duty when we came for lunch, and the poor service reflected it. The kitchen does not retickets and there is no prep person making sure the orders are correct The chips and salsa were the best part and they were free! I went to Plaza Azteca for dinner with a friend this past Friday around 7. The place was pretty packed, but we found parking just fine and snagged two seats at the bar without having to wait. Our bartender's name was Karen and she did an awesome job of checking on us regularly. We were quickly given menus, chips and salsa, and ordered our drinks. Not a huge fan of the salsa, it's watery and flavorless, but the chips are yummy. I got the pomegranate margarita, and my friend had the mango tropical margarita. They are large but I didn't feel mine was too strong, and we both really liked the taste of them. We also got the guacamole, which they make in front of you so you can tailor it to your taste. It was delicious and they give you enough to bring home, so it's worth the price. For my meal I ordered the birria tacos. I felt they were a bit dry and I noticed in 2/3 of my tacos all the meat was to one side, so a few bites were just tortilla I thought the consommé was good and I ordered a side of rice and refried beans, which I enjoyed. My friend got the steak burrito fajitas and she loved her food. I would go back. I really like the service and the drinks, and I think it's a fun place to grab a bite on the weekend. I was really looking forward to this experience. The only standout items were the Coconut Margarita and the Birria Tacos, everything else we tried fell short. Before posting I called the restaurant and left a message with the hostess to have a manager contact me. It was 1 PM and I was informed that manager was taking a break. She took my name and phone number and it must be a long break because I haven't heard back from them and it's almost 9 PM. Food is decent and drinks are good. I've been there countless of times - average group size of 2-3. Again on a Tuesday night 3 of us decided to have dinner at this location. For some unknown reason the server decided to hand us a bill and inform us that he added a 20% tip. We always tip at least 20% and tend to do so in cash. Yet find it highly offensive to have a tip added, not being given an option how we tipped and not being given an explanation for this. Manager no need to call me back. Poor business practice overall. I don't know why there's so many negative reviews because when I tried this place it was good. They have ample parking and the restaurant is huge. Lot's of sitting and a nice bar area as well. They also have amazing table side guacamole and ceviche. Both the guacamole & ceviche and hits! They are honestly a must have when coming to this restaurant but trust me you will be full if you don't have a lot of people with you lol. Don't order those two items if you're going to order a meal. Dropped $80 on what might be the most disappointing meal I've had all year--two combo meals, nachos, and a kids burger that tasted like an afterthought. Everything was aggressively salty with a weird, lingering blandness that somehow made it worse. The meat was so unrecognizable I genuinely couldn't tell if it was supposed to be beef, chicken, or recycled cardboard. Portions? Laughable. I've seen more food on a gas station roller grill. The only thing I could actually taste was the sour cream, which says a lot. Honestly, I could've had a better meal at Burger King or could have bought steaks and live lobster from Market Basket. Total waste of money and calories. I'm not even mad at Plaza Azteca, the staff was 5 star--I'm mad at myself. No one dragged me in there. Been here twice. I really like the food. I had the Tacos el Pastor (marinated pork) very good. They have table-side guacamole so you can get desired hotness. Very tasty. Everyone else was really happy with their selections. My son in law really likes the octopus tacos. The margaritas are very good too. Our water was very prompt and attentive. Everyone was very friendly I just wish they had a better selection of combo plates, it seems like they all had burritos on them and I don't want burritos. I also wish they had tamales on the menu. The tables are still kind of sticky but I think it's a reaction between the varnish and the cleaning solution. If they refinished the tables they probably could solve the problem. read more

First time here. Friend said the food was great. I ordered a tall draft Dos Equis the glass was cold the beer was warm. We ordered the Queso Fundido choriqueso dip, very oily, and the meat tasted like Hamburg not sausage. I ordered the Birria Tacos.l, these were the worst I have ever eaten. The looked good, the meat was very dry and over cooked, the extra beef broth was like dirty water. The rice and beans had no flavor. The service was ok, the server was slow and not friendly. Second if you order guacamole .. they have a cart that comes over to you and they make it in front of you and they also have a "tips" jar for the one who's making the guac. Hair in the salsa and when we ask for the manager he says "that never happens" or "it must have fallen out of the servers hair while she bringing it over." Which is it and why does it matter? The food was alright, and the service was slow, but the real problem was the lack of choice regarding tipping. The restaurant sets the tip percentage automatically to the maximum, and we were charged 25% because our bill exceeded $100. Note this was a party of three. They confirmed that this higher preset tip is automatically applied to larger bills. This removes the customer's ability to choose a tip amount based on the service received. OK, let me make this very clear, do not visit Plaza Azteca, and get a drink on a Saturday night. I literally, yes, literally saw the bartender mixing salt in the bottom of a glass. Yes salt, in the bottom of a mixed drink glass. Everything was so salty, the Philly cheesesteak burrito, which my hubby has gotten many times before, had been a definite 5/5. It was so salty that he could not finish his half. We're talking about 190 pound man here... Couldn't finish half of a burrito. Ugh!! Anyway, do not recommend visiting on a Saturday night, the drinks were horrible, the food was not as good as it used to be and it was just a bad Saturday night out. Years ago this place use to be a hit, they never missed the mark. Service it's great and so is the ambiance! But the food- well leave lots to be desire. Guacamole it's my favorite, they didn't have any. My drinks- was so water down- I also try the tres leches, it was dry! And way over sweet! The large house margarita which I have been getting now for years is now terrible. The cut the booze in half or more and still charge $9.99 for it. Beer will now be the drink. Very busy location but our name was written down and we were called when they had a table for our big group. Our waiter was absolutely amazing... He took our order for 7 without even writing it down. Checked in on us multiple times to see if there was anything we needed as well. Many years ago when I was young, I used to love to go to the fast casual restaurant called ChiChi's and thought it was great Mexican food. Thankfully, it was not too long before I realized the immaturity of my palate. This place reminded of the old ChiChis (now out of business). The decor was embarrassingly overdone and the food was bland with lots of cheese and salty beans and rice. Nothing was bad, but it just lacked any effort. This use to be our absolute favorite place to go. However, the last two times we have went, we have gotten the completely wrong order. If whatever they did bring me and my children did come on the flour tortillas we asked for, I wouldn't even be as mad. But both times, sent out in corn tortillas. It just isn't the same. The first time I ordered fish tacos and asked for them specifically in flour tortillas. Today I ordered the shrimp tacos, which on the menu state that's how they come, asked to make sure they were in flour and he confirmed... came in corn!!!! The beans both times have been cold. And the last two times we have ordered a chicken taco al la carte they have came completely diffferent. Not sure where the consistency in this place went, but I'm sad and don't think we will be returning anytime soon, if at all. read more
