After Chilis did away with the country fried steak with mash and corn on the cob, there has been no reason to come here for the past decade or so. Lately, I've been watching the nashville hot mozarella sticks on social media and was craving this place again. I was shopping in the area and insisted our family go to Chilis so I could try it. My expectations were exceeded, led by the amazing over the top service by our server, Lindsey! She was super friendly, communicative of our order, gave excellent recommendations to convert our single entree into a cost savings meal that included chips and dip, and she checked in on us many many times - All with a smile! She is not just there to collect a paycheck, she is there to ensure customers have a great experience at Chilis. Hold on to her! The restaurant was clean and spacious. The menu was easy to scan through to see what we wanted. Triple Dipper $17.29: This had 2 nashville hot mazarella sticks (VERY good and everything i dreamed of), southwestern egg rolls (4 halves) - not what i remembered from many years ago and smaller, and 3 chicken tenders with choice of sauce. This was my meal and I was more than full and satisfied. Next time, I'll just stick to an entree order of the nashville hot cheese sticks. I didn't have anything else, other than a bite here and there...not enough to give a good honest review of the other foods. However, the presentation and portions of the other foods looked great. Everything came out hot and fresh looking. The fries were cooked nice and crisp. The white mac and cheese was a big hit with our daughter. There was an abundance of ranch dip for all of our dishes. I love the southwest dumplings and my husband loves the pick 3. Service is spotty depending on the server but multiple servers forget things and don't return to the table to check on things. The result is you try to flag someone down as they rush past you. Also, there's a table near both the bathroom and the kitchen and it's awful. We do keep going back because the food is fine and not too spendy. Although they now charge 8$ for the pre meal tortilla chips and salsa. It's just gone way downhill in previous years. read more

The food that we ordered included the queso dip--which was not good at all, almost tasted like a school cafeteria style dip. We also had the triple dipper with honey, chipotle, chicken crispers, which were really good, the mozzarella sticks which were iconic and the so-so sliders. I did that games that you could play on the device on the table were a little deceptive as there wasn't any fee or charge notification associated in advance of touching the screen. we called ahead, They didn't put our name down after they told us our seat was being reserved. we had to wait well over an hour outside because the waiting area was so cramped with so many other people struggling with the same issue. we were so excited to eat here and we waited all day, just to be told our seat was not ready. The time kept getting extended anour spot on the waiting list kept growing we went from first down to 35. to me this just seems outrageous. at the end of the day, the food was good, but we were just a little bit concerned with the wait time. read more

What happened??? I lived in Salem for 13+ years and while it wasn't always my first choice, Chili's was always a solid option. From the apps to the beer to the ribs, this place never failed to satisfy. Sadly this is no longer the case. Chips and salsa hit the table and while they were hot, the chips were also soggy...ugh. My beer was "sort of" cold and my girlfriends Margarita, while still large, was obviously thrown together with no regards to a recipe. Almost undrinkable. Even the water tasted weird. If you have ever been on a cruise and tasted ocean water that has been filtered and had the salt removed, then you know what I'm talking about. Ok...the food. I used to always get ribs with no sauce but that was apparently no longer an option so I went with a burger and fries. Big mistake. This steaming pile of mush appeared to be dropped in a vat of grease. It was almost impossible to pick up to eat and to be honest, I wish I hadn't made the effort....not good to say the least. I really wish I had taken pics but hindsight isn't my strong suit. The people were nice at least so they had that going for them and the place itself still looked like Chili's so it was familiar at least but the food and drinks had just gone way downhill. I went back to chili's after almost 5 years and The food was surprisingly extremely delicious. Went for a family dinner and ordered steak and salmon. Stake was definitely a lot better than what we get at many other steakhouses. Salmon was just outstanding. Kids loved their grilled chicken and pizza. I would definitely come back sometime and would recommend this place to everyone. read more

Agree with other's posts that this place was solid... and now I'll probably never go back. I'm sorry if there was some sort of incident here recently, but I don't appreciate having my alcohol monitored like I'm a child. You can't even place another drink order until the last sip of your previous drink was finished? That's not ok. And the waitstaff acting disgusted that you even dare to ask? And it's not like there was any water offered so I guess you just have to go drink-less between when you're "allowed" to order and when they finally get around to bringing it to you. That aside.... what happened to their sides? The side of Mac 'n Cheese? 3 noodles. All of the sides brought to our table were extremely small portioned. Not even close to what was pictured on the menu. I've interacted with the manager before and she's very nice, but that staff has gotten rude and almost nasty. Very disappointing. Been here many many times and after this last time I will never come back. Server was nice, but inattentive, but the food was absolutely terrible. Started with the cheese fries for $10 which was a small serving of fries with some extremely overcooked shredded cheese tossed over the top. I got the combo platter of chicken crispers and half rack of ribs for $23. I expected very little but I did expect it to at least be edible. The chicken crispers were extremely over cooked and there were a whole 3 of them on the plate. The ribs were barely sauced at all and tasted boiled. Again, I understand this is Chilis and not a BBQ place, but these were inedible. I took 3 bites and was done. The "street corn" was literally burnt and slathered in some sauce to cover it up. There was a slice of garlic bread (?) on the platter as well that looked like it was a hold over from the last persons plate but also looked as if it went through the dish washer. Again I expected nothing from this place except an edible meal, and it didn't happen. This was a quick spot to take the kids, but never again. This used to be my favorite Chili's to eat at. Tonight was VERY disappointing. The chef lacks quality and care into what he served and the food check person was also as careless and lacking in food prep. I got very few THIN slivers of steak with a chunky and fatty piece of steak. I didn't come here to pay for crap! If you don't enjoy your job as a chef then don't work as one. Idk what kind of culinary school you went to but u should go back. I don't work hard each day to throw my money away for crap. I get that this isn't a high end establishment but it was always a descent place to take you family to once in a while. We are a very busy family so going out to dinner is a huge treat for us. Tonight was a total disappointment from Chili's kitchen. The only reason I gave it 1 star is because our server was great. I ordered dinner last night and this morning was sick. I ordered the classic sirloin and the dip trio, 2 Guac and 1 skillet queso chosen. The steak was ok but a lot of uncooked fat that needed to be cut away. The guac was already turning brown which tends to make me thick it was by no way fresh. The chips were the best thing but would break when you tried to pick up any guac or queso. Overall disappointing. For what I paid it is very disheartening. Not a big fan of chain restaurants, so take this with a grain of salt. My toddler was napping in the truck & I didn't want to wake him. I did a curbside pickup order of a buffalo chicken ranch sandwich and paid online. The confirmation text & email said it would be ready 19 min after I ordered. It took about 25 min before the sandwich came out. It wasn't busy (2 pm on a Wednesday). My little guy was awake by that time. I was a little annoyed, but not the end of the world. The sandwich was fine, about what I expected. What really got me, though, was that they didn't give me ketchup for the fries. Service was 4 star, the club sandwich was 4 star - so why the low review? You must supply your date of birth to use their Wifi? How about a blood sample too? I chose not to use the Wifi and interesting enough I couldn't get a signal. I expect this is by design, they collect personal data whether you like it or not. Paying the bill you must take a survey - wtf? And only three tip options 18%, 20%, 22%. What if I get lousy service and only want to leave 10%? What if I want to leave more than 22%? I want to pay my bill and leave. The bartender apologized three times, she agreed check out was more complicated than it needs to be. She was a complete sweetheart. Advice: If you use public Wifi don't use your correct date of birth or name. Corporations collect personal data and it's not secure - no matter what assurance they give. There are breaches all the time - are you going to trust the knuckleheads at Chili's with your private data? They make you check the 'user agreement' so they are covered legally. I never came here much & many other options so close there's no reason to come back. read more

Here is my 6 year update. I had actually forgot that I had been here and Yelped this place. Guess mentally blocked the bad experience last time. Well in 6 years, not much has changed. It is still; the standard classic of a chain restaurant. Still heavy greasy, over salted, overcooked food. The Margaretta was eh- pre-measured to the drop, and overly sweet. The young high school waitress with pink hair actually did an ok job, was attentive. We sat in the bar area, and just chilled after a long day. We did not enjoy the food. This seemed to somehow throw her off guard as she didn't know how to respond, and I proceeded to ask if we could sit at the bar since I saw some empty seats. She just says "uhhh, no. Just came back from lunch here. The food was outstanding. The waitstaff, once again, needs to get better at what they do. Two of us ordered ice tea with a slice of lemon. Only one of us got the lemon. When I asked for my lemon I was told, "It was in the other one, but I'll get you some". Then they had people from the kitchen delivering the meals and they brought a meal that didn't belong to our table. My wife ordered a grilled cheese with an extra order of french fries. She never got the french fries. We were charged on the bill for them and when I told the waitress we never got them she said "Oh ya, that's right, you didn't get them". This location is really going to be a hit or miss to be honest. I have had some bad experiences here but finally figured out that the bar area is the best place to sit. So in the bar area is your best chance of having a pleasant time. Make sure to possibly have genie or jill as your server. We are regular guests for them and they are truly the best. They are attentive and kind. In terms of food I highly recommend getting the honey chipotle crispers or the bacon cheeseburger both are super good and bring a lot of food. This place is HORRIBLE! please take your business elsewhere... Aside from the waitstaff, this place is horrible. My girlfriend and I have come here a few times out of obligation and the times we have been here and ordered meat have been terrible. Every time we have been here the steak has come out undercooked (see picture). We order well done and get black and blue, almost rare. This time, my girlfriends cousins had a problem as well in addition to my girlfriends meat. I have never seen such soggy chicken tenders in my LIFE! So, being totally honest here, working on my Maverick badge and this was the last stop. I had mostly seen Subway Sandwich Shops and gas stations rated below two on yelp, I found this diamond in the rough. A major chain restaurant with two stars. After reading other reviews, I had to check it out. I will preface this with the fact that I arrived at lunch, and not during peak hours. Other than awkwardly standing at the front entrance for 10 minutes waiting for someone to come to seat me, it was actually a good experience. The bartender Mandy was polite, made small talk, and was attentive. Of course I was the only customer sitting at the bar. Food came out right away, and was very good. The staff were otherwise polite. If I'm in the area again, I would pay this place a visit again. read more

We haven't been here in such a long long time, They have gone down hill and we just never came back. I was very HAPPY and pleased to come back. Brand New menu all looks great you even have a Kiosk on every table. You can play games, trivia and order appetizers and desserts you can even pay your bill. But.....there is a fee of $1.99 to play that you don't know until you see the food bill. Anyways I had the steak sirloin bowl it was really good. The meat was very tender. This is the worst chilis. It's dirty and the food is gross at this one. I generally like chilis food but there is always something yucky about the food at this one. The staff is usually pleasant. Sometimes not. The biggest pet peeve that I had was that they advertised free wifi all over the place but I didn't see any wifi on my cell in the bar area. I asked bout it and they explained that the wifi just doesn't reach the bar area. That's just plain stupid. read more

We were shopping in the plaza across the road and began to get "hangry" - frustrated with the crowds and extremely moody due to an empty stomach / low blood sugar. So I suggested that we run across the road to this Chili's location. I didn't realize how big of a mistake this would be. We entered to seven or so groups of families waiting to be seated. Since it was just the bf and me, we opted to sit in the bar area in hopes for faster service. How wrong we were. It seemed that there was only one server for the entire bar area, so we didn't even get our order taken until 10 minutes after we sat down. Another 10 minutes, our water arrived, and we finally placed our order. How long does it take to make a side salad? 25 minutes later, the side salad came out. Are you KIDDING me? I can't imagine it takes 25 minutes to throw some leaves, goat cheese, and vinaigrette on the plate. As I'm writing this, we still haven't gotten our entrees yet and it's going on 45 minutes of us having been in this establishment. This is a frank reminder of why we don't ever come to Chili's. Chili's is in that handful and although they are normally a 3 star (A-OK) rating for me, this visit proved a reason to bring them down by a star. Our main reason for going was a meal deal for $35 that included an app, 2 margarita's, 2 entree's and a dessert. Such a deal, who could pass it up? We got there and were seated at 8:40. Did not see our waitress for 10 minutes. I have to say 95% of the downgrade is due to this waitress. She squatted on her haunches next to the table ... behind my seat. I could only see her peripherally. I mentioned that I was having difficulty seeing her and asked her to move over a bit. She stayed put. Ummm, OK. We ordered our app and asked for water. She brought the app & oops, no water. A while later, she came to ask how the app was (again standing behind my chair). I told her it was salty and we could use that water. She did the "oopsie" face, touched my shoulder & said "ooh, sorry!" and went off -- I presumed to get our water. When she came back with the water (finally after another long wait), we ordered our entree. I got a burger. She asked "medium-well"? I replied no medium. Guess how my burger was cooked ... yeah a bit dry. We also had no silverware. Another waitress had brought our meals & our waitress wasn't in sight, so we had to get the hosts attention to ask for silverware. He walked to the back as she came out and asked her bring it to us. One of her last visits was when we were done our meal to ask which dessert we wanted. This trip she squatted at the edge of the table with her arms crossed on the tabletop and her head resting on her arms. Ummm, OK? A last thing that I won't blame on our waitress: the cake was stale. The reason it gets 2 stars in spite of her is that the fire-grilled corn guacamole rocked my world --- like I would have licked the bowl when I was done. Plus I know that they normally handle a burger pretty well if the waitress doesn't tell them to overcook it. I will go back, but if we get "T______" again, we'll ask for another table. read more

It's not management's fault their patrons consist of lowlifes who bring small children and have no problem drinking in the company of their small children then driving home. It is, however, management's fault when patrons have to listen to waitstaff having words about where people are being seated. Second, I have food allergies. I told our server upon ordering my steak that I have allergies and my steak need to be "naked". No seasonings, no marinades, just salt and pepper. I also told her I wanted to trade BOTH sides for one side salad and I still got charged extra. This doesn't make sense to me, considering the side salad was nothing to write home about and definitely didn't cost most than a baked potato and side of broccoli. Third, the side salad, to my surprise, was loaded with cheese. Usually only Caesars have cheese. I have a dairy allergy so I was picking out all the cheese, the waitress noticed and got me a new salad. That was the one good thing she did. I never send back food because you never know who that's going to piss off. Regardless, it wasn't worth the extra buck for about an ounce of lettuce and a couple of slices of onion and cucumber. Due to my allergies, I brought my own dressing which ended up being the best part of my meal. Fourth, the steak. It was a ribeye and tasted previously frozen. I don't care that it's not a steakhouse. If you can't do it right, take it off the menu. I ordered medium rare, it was closer to medium well but I hadn't eaten yet that day and my friend was already digging into her entree so I said it was fine. I didn't want to eat alone because my friend would've been done her lunch by the time my probable floor steak would've arrived. Lastly, my friend had 2 to-go containers and our server didn't offer her a bag. She was LUCKY we left her 15%. We had to ask the very nice hostess for a bag on our way out. It just wasn't a good experience. Lousy service, arguing waitstaff, overpricing and mediocre food at best. Since my friend enjoyed her food, I'll say mediocre because mine sucked. This place is downright terrible. I could not even begin to comprehend why they are even still open. It ruined any Chili's for me for life. The food my whole family got, not just me, was served cold, and it was very bland. The soda was flat, and my mom thought that it tasted like there was alcohol in it, which she is sensitive to and can not drink. The place was filthy, spills and stains everywhere, our table was covered in crumbs and spots like it had never been cleaned. The waitstaff is horrible, they are rude and snarky, and very unhelpful. I cannot understand how they even got employed in the customer service industry. The bill was outrageous especially for what we got, and when we complained about EVERYTHING that was wrong, we got nothing out of it, not even an apology. I am super disappointed with my visit last Friday at this place. My waitress was SUPER unprofessional, she cut my friend off when she was ordering, didn't ask how I wanted my food cooked, didn't bring out any sauce, gave me the wrong drink and when I mentioned it, she said "my bad" Then she never brought out my coke, and when I asked she said "oh you still want it" and proceeded to bring out ANOTHER wrong drink. She didn't take any of them away, even though I did not want them. Then while my friend was still working on her food she took the plate away, and tried to take mine and I got upset and I said I'm still eating. When it was time to pay It said to leave a note on how my visit was and she got upset when she saw me typing and started being rude toward me.
