    Tavern burger with fries

Just the outside of the building you can see the type of atmosphere it will be. Its a super fancy looking place. Very open but welcoming and friendly. The hostess (whome i found out is the manager after we were finished) was friendly and polite. The waiter,Alec, was right off the bat amazing. Super friendly, talk-a-tive, just how we like it. My boyfriend and I do enjoy our friendly waitress/ers. So he made our experience amazing before we even ordered our food. He recommended a very delicious fruity drink for me. Than the food. I had the honey salmon super delicious. Cooked to perfection. No complaints from me. My boyfriend had the burrito and fries. He likes his simple food which is totally fine. The burger was good, cooked medium rare. His fries were amazing great seasoning on it. Over fantastic experience!

I've been twice and really enjoyed the visits. The first trip was exceptional. Service fast food amazing and a really fun vibe. They have a rooftop area which I have used yet but I will next visit. The second trip was not as great. Order apps 10-15 mins before the main course and they came out with the food! That is a major pet peeve of mine. Food was good but not as flavorful as the first trip. General Tso is a great dish. The even deep fry the broccoli and toss it in the sauce. My husband got the fish and chips but said it was only okay. Don't enjoy the panko bread crust. We will definitely be back and hopefully they'll get those kitchen times on point. Not an app of it comes with dinner!

    No avocado was ordered.

I am not sure how this location stays in business considering the way that it's run. This is the third time that we have had absolutely horrible service with food, not a care in the world. All the bad experiences happen when we sit upstairs. Order a dish without a scarp and it is within. Order pickle chips and they are ice cold. Order an avocado branch sandwich and the chicken rates like it is out of the fridge.

Stopped by TSQ to have lunch with my friend. We are in the Loyalty Program & had rewards to cash in. I highly advise joining because of the perks. We had our entire meals at no cost to us. My friend had the Steak and Cheese Crunch Melt. She said it was delicious. I probably wouldn't get it because it is a little spicy. She chose Mac & Cheese for her side. The portion was large enough for a meal & she took most of it home. I tasted it-so rich & creamy. I had the Steakhouse Burger with a side of Sweet Potato Fries-so good! We sat at the bar & had excellent service from Jeff who was very kind & helpful. We will certainly be back.

After a long day of shopping we stopped into Tavern in the Square for an early dinner. The restaurant was packed but once we were seated we hardly noticed. If you try anything at Tavern I insist you try the whipped feta!!! It is absolutely divine!!! My only complaint was there was not enough bread, however, our amazing waitress got us more no problem. Honestly we enjoyed everything we ate and couldn't have been happier with the service. We've been to several locations and this one is the best to date!

Came here for my brother in law's grandmothers bday and I'm so glad we did. It's located in the heart of Tuscan Village so parking can be rough but the weather wasn't the greatest so we found some decent parking. The service was very good for the restaurant only being open less than a month. My whole family really enjoyed the dishes they picked and now it's time to talk about my food. I picked the Picanté Burger because it was my first time here and if you can't make a burger then I don't want to try anything else lol. The burger consisted of crispy bacon, pepperjack cheese, pico de gallo and chipotle aioli. I really enjoyed the burger and all the ingredients went really well together. I was surprised that everyone in my party loved their food. I'll definitely be back and the prices are reasonable too! So give this place a try if you're around Salem.

Watermelon Margarita mock-tail & rosé wine

Tonight, we went to Tavern in the Square at the Tuscan Village for dinner. Surprisingly, we only waited less than 30 minutes on a Friday night, even though the restaurant was filled to capacity. I ordered the sweet and spicy Thai chicken salad, and my friend had the steak & avocado garden salad, they were both delicious, with the steak cooked perfectly. The staff was attentive and friendly. My only minor complaint is that my mock-tail was served in a slender glass, mostly filled with ice and not very much to drink. Additionally, it took a while for our server to return to our table to ask for takeout boxes and our check. Towards the end of the meal, she didn't ask if we wanted to see a dessert menu, which would've been nice, but we were too full to ask anyway. I might try going again, perhaps for lunch on a less busy day. During our meal, it was a bit too loud, making it hard to hear each other talk. Overall, a good experience!

    Steak Tips
    Sandy D.

You would think a restaurant with 17 locations should be able to get something as simple as steak tips, broccoli and mashed potatoes right. My daughter and I went to Tavern in the Square for our weekly night out. The location we went to was in the Tuscan Village. The décor is very nice and if you are going out for drinks and nachos this place may be alright for you, but a delicious dinner its not. Not what we got anyway. I have to say 99 is better. This place is obviously run by investors that want to make as much money on these restaurants as humanly possible. They have 17 locations, 2 upcoming locations and 4 sister restaurants and 2 upcoming sister restaurants. I should have paid attention ahead of time. I would have known you are never going to get a cooked to order meal out of a restaurant chain of this size. Certainly not your average chef run business. We got drinks to start. It was late so we just ordered everything at once. Sirloin steak tips which are described as in a house marinade which came with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli for $29.00. We ordered the tips medium. We also got a Chopped Greek salad with chicken at $15.50 and a Classic Pizza at $15.00. They do not serve bread. The sirloin tips came and had no char on them from the grille so obviously were not cooked on the grill. They almost seemed like they were boiled. Even if they were baked, they would have some sort of char on them. They had no marinade taste, were well done as seen in the pictures by not a drop of juice on the plate, and tasted gamey. I only ate one and that was all I needed. The broccoli was literally RAW. It is described as steamed but I think they skipped that step. If they threw it in boiling water for two seconds to brighten it up that's all they did. The garlic mashed potatoes had no garlic taste and were instant.

Via the bartender was absolutely incredible. Me and my friend came in for brunch. The Buffalo chicken Benedict was to die for and the lemon drop martini was 10 out of 10.. Super friendly and she has amazing hair to top it off ‍ We will be back to visit this hard-working girl at this new establishment!

we had an early dinner on New Year's Eve. There was a group of eight. We had to sit at two separate tables because the kitchen was not ready to serve eight people. We ordered the bang bang, broccoli, buffalo cauliflower, and two pizzas. The food was excellent, and the portions were good. The service was not great however it was New Year's Eve and they are newly opened. I hope that it improves with time. We will definitely return.

We had a party of 7 and we were very excited to finally try Dreo. We started with 2 orders of the calamari and the spinach dip special. My husband noticed the calamari also had shrimp which I am allergic to. They happily removed the shrimp but unfortunately it's fried in the same oil (which is completely logical) but everyone at our table (besides me) throughly enjoyed the calamari. I cannot even begin to explain how good the spinach dip was. I'm not sure I'll have want to eat spinach dip without garlic bread again!!! Next up entrees: 2 ribeyes, 1 NY strip, 1 Korean BBQ Bowl, 1 Soy Maple Glazed Salmon, and 1 Tuscan Fried Chicken. I am newly pregnant and to be honest I was not looking forward to eating out because my go to is rib eye but I refuse to eat well done meat so instead I ordered the Tuscan fried chicken. I also asked to sub the mashed potatoes for truffle fries and the veggie medley for green beans. They had no problems with my requests which I loved. I loved every single bite of my chicken and I actually stopped caring that I was missing on steak! In fact every single person at our table loved everything they ate too. We ended our meal with cookie skillets and again absolutely delicious! Now our meal was fantastic by itself but I have to say our waiter Brett was just as amazing!! He couldn't have done a better job and he totally rolled with our parties over the top personalities. Even if the food wasn't outstanding we'd go back just for the service! I really hope of the owners or managers see this; Brett is fantastic and deserves praise!! We will definitely be back and since I still have about 7 and half months to go I will be coming back for more Tuscan fried chicken soon!!

Have been to this location as the primary gust at least 5x since opened and countless as a guest as well. I would say the meals are usually very good HOWEVER, on holidays I would caution against this place. The food and even the mixed drinks are just off. The General Partner came over when drinks were returned on NYE and we told him they still were off and to just bring Bailey's and we would add it in. He said "that is not how we typically do it but I will get it for you and check back over." Someone else brought it over and we never saw the General Partner again. I guess he really didn't care...... Cream spinach had ZERO taste to it and we really didn't touch it. When they came to clear the table and they asked if we wanted to take it home would have been the time to ask questions but that didn't happen either. Steak and Scallops were as expected and the french fries were crispy as requested. Otherwise, not worth the price of admission on this night. The other really bad night was Mother's Day and that was a disaster from start to end. When another suit came over with the check and the only comps were the drinks and the Baileys he said "Well it is our first NYE and always things to fix." At this price point get it together before the customer shells out the same money regardless of the day of the week or the holiday on the calendar.

Despite all that, I can tell you upfront that our experience was more or less sublime. Naturally, there was one setback in particular that I just can't ignore (which we'll cover later). First, the good.. Clam chowder: Now, this was a March special. So, it's not on the regular menu, far as I can tell. But let me just say...this is by FAR some of the best damn chowder I've had in a restaurant! Granted, we're in New England. So, I'd expect nothing less. Just the same, it's worth mentioning. This chowder was perfectly seasoned to the point of not needing anything additional. And it had ALL the clams! SO many clams!! 10 out of 10, they really need to make this one more often! Queso dip: Again, we have a cheese sauce that's beautifully seasoned and creamy as all get out. One thing that perplexed us was the meat (or lack there of). We thought it would consist of larger chunks, but it was minced. Odd. I also would have enjoyed this one a lot more if the chips weren't so heavily salted. 8 out of 10, the cheese sauce is like liquid gold. Tavern burger: One thing I noticed both here and at the Derry location - not one person had taken a photo of the burgers. Like....ANY of them. So, I'm a guy who likes to view what he's about to get into. Far as first impressions go, this burger looked delectable! I'm talkin' the perfect charred sear, temperature nailed, cheese beautifully melted over top. Not to mention the kaiser rolls they used were brilliantly crisp on the outside, with a soft interior. Thing is....this burger would have been damn near perfect, if not for one thing: it was under seasoned. Quite weird, considering the hand cut fries were well seasoned. 9 out of 10, I'd still get this again and just sprinkle salt on the bottom or something. And for those wondering, wifey enjoyed her salmon salad also. Now then, I came across something peculiar when we first entered the place. When I went to utilize the facilities, one of the restrooms was allegedly closed for maintenance reasons. I say "allegedly" because, turns out....that was only HALF true. You see, their sink was broken. Okay. Fine. Whatever. It would have been helpful if they, ya know....mentioned the sink was broken as opposed to letting everyone THINK the restroom itself was ostensibly closed (as per the sign on the door). The whole thing was misleading and, quite frankly, unnecessary. Felt like a damn goober standing there in front of an almost perfectly functioning restroom. Btw, yes....they had hand sanitizer at the ready to accommodate the lack of sink in one bathroom. Anyway, service was excellent. Just a note though: it's loud as hell in here as you can very well imagine a bar & grill would be. But I weathered the storm easily thanks to my Loop Earplugs (no, that's not a plug. I swear!). So, yeah....overall, not that bad. No where near as bad as some folks suggested. Perhaps that was a different time. In any event, we shall return for future date nights. Till then, Friendly Red's Tavern in Windham is worth 4 bad ass burgers charred to utter perfection out of 5.

Additionally the lettuce was virtually floating in dressing. Inedible. Now, the scant 3 oz of steak comes sliced and so the chef AND waiter obviously saw that it was black inside, not pink. I wanted to send it back but our waiter never checked on us until the meal was done. Maybe because he knew it was cooked poorly. I waited but finally ate about half and only told him about the problems when he later asked if I wanted to take the rest home. He came back a few minutes later and said he brought it to a managers attention and they agreed it was incorrectly cooked, and they would be giving me a gift card. We paid our bill and waited another 15/20 minutes but he never returned with a gift card so we left. Ps- it wasn't busy. Now, 1. I never return food unless I have confidence in the reliability of the kitchen staff (which I did not here) and 2. Although I didn't have the intention of asking for a refund or gift card, once it was offered by the waiter it should have been presented. $27 for a salad with 3 oz of chewy overcooked beef and half a bottle of dressing is way too much! There are many excellent restaurants around this area to waste my money here.
