Wow wow wow!!! What's a great place to celebrate my father's birthday. We made reservations for 6pm and they had an opening for us in the main dining area which was lovely. Our server was Rebecca and she was amazing and I highly recommend her as you can request your server. Now let's get to the food.. We started with oysters and calamari. Both were really great and I highly recommend them as starters, not too heavy. I ordered the Dry Aged NU strip au Poivre with Courvoisier Cream. I really enjoyed it and I'm glad I got the sauce on the side. Reason I like it on the side is because you can dip your streak inside or you don't have to use the sauce at all. We also had the lobster Mac & Cheese which was delicious. Had some huge chunks of lobster inside. Also had some of Sam's Mashed Potatoes which the kids liked. Overall it was a great dining experience and my father loved it. We highly recommend this place for celebrations.

It was wicked sweet of them to include this gesture for our anniversary.

Oops!... I did it again. I booked a reservation at The Capital Grille....only to show up at the wrong one. Apparently in my over exhilarative state, I booked my rez at the Burlington location instead of the Salem one closer to us. So, take a lesson from me and double check the address before booking so that you don't end up as big a dingus as I am. Okay. Onto the review. As per our usual annual tradition for our wedding anniversary, we wanted to "go big or go home" so to speak. And let me tell you...CG is the place to do it. From the grand entry way to the overall decorum and jazzy music, you can rest assured the mood is set for a romantic evening to remember years over. Noise level of the crowd can range from moderate to noisy so....maybe bring a pair of earbuds if you're a misophoniac like myself. I wanna highlight up front that service was divine! Too bad I'm terrible at remembering names or else I'd grant our lovely waitress a shout out. I really need to start keeping my receipts until the review is written. Anywho.. Lobster bisque: This one wasn't even on the main menu. Apparently, it's classified as a special. The bisque itself was buttery with a rather generous portion of lobster. But it needed a bit of seasoning and didn't ring with that sherry flavor we're used to. Not to mention, it isn't finished table side like the menu said. Not a big deal, really. But if I could somehow combine the lobster portioning of this rendition with the bisque composition of The Nash Casino version we tried a few weeks ago, we'd have the ultimate lobster bisque. 8 out of 10. Lobster and Crab cake: Bloody hell is this ever good! I honestly couldn't get enough of this harmonious symphony of lump crab and lobster meat fusion. And the lemon basil aioli compliments it all brilliantly! 10 out of 10, every seafood fan ever needs to try this one! Cold filet sample thingy: Yeah...I have no idea what the $#!& this is actually called. Just know that it's tender and tasty as hell. They gave it to us as a sample. We didn't eat the blueberries, but overall....pretty damn good. Double Cut Lamb Chops: I say this without an ounce of exaggeration. But these could possibly be the tastiest lamb chops we've had so far! I'm talkin' a perfectly charred sear on the outside with an absolutely spot-on medium temperature nailed on the inside, and a benevolent portioning to boot. Neither of us are mint fans, so we skipped that part. But ultimately, it's a 10 out of 10. Sliced filet: Once again, the charred sear adds a level of flavor no words I type could possibly do it justice. I mean....life changing? You bet your ass it is! My one regret was not requesting the temp mid-rare because unlike many other steakhouses we've been to, CG absolutely nails all their temps with the utmost precision. Next time, I'll remember to trust the chefs more. Still, it didn't hinder the filet's tenderness one bit. Even the end pieces that were more mid-well tasted heavenly. Yes, folks - it's another 10 out of 10. Lobster mac: Wow. Just....wow. I can't even begin to describe how well blended the 5 cheeses are in this dish. We didn't need to add any additional seasoning whatsoever. It held a certain subtlety of sharpness without compromising any flavor. My one critique is that it was slightly lacking in lobster meat. Dunno why Ruth's Chris seems to be the only place that puts hella lobstah in their version. But it's no show stopper by any means. 9 out of 10. Overall, I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate 22 wonderful years with the love of my life. These folks definitely made it happen. Also, fun fact: I posted exactly 22 photos in this review. I swear I did NOT plan that to match up with the number of years we've been married. Funny how things work out, eh? The Capital Grille in Salem gets 5 succulent double cut lamb chops out of 5.

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at The Capital Grille, and John Motto made the evening truly special. His service was attentive, professional, and friendly throughout our meal. We were pleasantly surprised with complimentary champagne and a beautiful dessert to help celebrate our milestone. Thank you, John, for helping make our anniversary such a memorable experience. We can't wait to return!

Great time here for a birthday. Staff was wonderful and so was all of the food. I always get french onion soup & NY strip and it was perfect. Would come back any day. Interesting location in this strip of establishments and valet was great too.

We had a party of 7 and we were very excited to finally try Dreo. We started with 2 orders of the calamari and the spinach dip special. My husband noticed the calamari also had shrimp which I am allergic to. They happily removed the shrimp but unfortunately it's fried in the same oil (which is completely logical) but everyone at our table (besides me) throughly enjoyed the calamari. I cannot even begin to explain how good the spinach dip was. I'm not sure I'll have want to eat spinach dip without garlic bread again!!! Next up entrees: 2 ribeyes, 1 NY strip, 1 Korean BBQ Bowl, 1 Soy Maple Glazed Salmon, and 1 Tuscan Fried Chicken. I am newly pregnant and to be honest I was not looking forward to eating out because my go to is rib eye but I refuse to eat well done meat so instead I ordered the Tuscan fried chicken. I also asked to sub the mashed potatoes for truffle fries and the veggie medley for green beans. They had no problems with my requests which I loved. I loved every single bite of my chicken and I actually stopped caring that I was missing on steak! In fact every single person at our table loved everything they ate too. We ended our meal with cookie skillets and again absolutely delicious! Now our meal was fantastic by itself but I have to say our waiter Brett was just as amazing!! He couldn't have done a better job and he totally rolled with our parties over the top personalities. Even if the food wasn't outstanding we'd go back just for the service! I really hope of the owners or managers see this; Brett is fantastic and deserves praise!! We will definitely be back and since I still have about 7 and half months to go I will be coming back for more Tuscan fried chicken soon!!

Despite all that, I can tell you upfront that our experience was more or less sublime. Naturally, there was one setback in particular that I just can't ignore (which we'll cover later). First, the good.. Clam chowder: Now, this was a March special. So, it's not on the regular menu, far as I can tell. But let me just say...this is by FAR some of the best damn chowder I've had in a restaurant! Granted, we're in New England. So, I'd expect nothing less. Just the same, it's worth mentioning. This chowder was perfectly seasoned to the point of not needing anything additional. And it had ALL the clams! SO many clams!! 10 out of 10, they really need to make this one more often! Queso dip: Again, we have a cheese sauce that's beautifully seasoned and creamy as all get out. One thing that perplexed us was the meat (or lack there of). We thought it would consist of larger chunks, but it was minced. Odd. I also would have enjoyed this one a lot more if the chips weren't so heavily salted. 8 out of 10, the cheese sauce is like liquid gold. Tavern burger: One thing I noticed both here and at the Derry location - not one person had taken a photo of the burgers. Like....ANY of them. So, I'm a guy who likes to view what he's about to get into. Far as first impressions go, this burger looked delectable! I'm talkin' the perfect charred sear, temperature nailed, cheese beautifully melted over top. Not to mention the kaiser rolls they used were brilliantly crisp on the outside, with a soft interior. Thing is....this burger would have been damn near perfect, if not for one thing: it was under seasoned. Quite weird, considering the hand cut fries were well seasoned. 9 out of 10, I'd still get this again and just sprinkle salt on the bottom or something. And for those wondering, wifey enjoyed her salmon salad also. Now then, I came across something peculiar when we first entered the place. When I went to utilize the facilities, one of the restrooms was allegedly closed for maintenance reasons. I say "allegedly" because, turns out....that was only HALF true. You see, their sink was broken. Okay. Fine. Whatever. It would have been helpful if they, ya know....mentioned the sink was broken as opposed to letting everyone THINK the restroom itself was ostensibly closed (as per the sign on the door). The whole thing was misleading and, quite frankly, unnecessary. Felt like a damn goober standing there in front of an almost perfectly functioning restroom. Btw, yes....they had hand sanitizer at the ready to accommodate the lack of sink in one bathroom. Anyway, service was excellent. Just a note though: it's loud as hell in here as you can very well imagine a bar & grill would be. But I weathered the storm easily thanks to my Loop Earplugs (no, that's not a plug. I swear!). So, yeah....overall, not that bad. No where near as bad as some folks suggested. Perhaps that was a different time. In any event, we shall return for future date nights. Till then, Friendly Red's Tavern in Windham is worth 4 bad ass burgers charred to utter perfection out of 5.

Today I ordered the habanero steak Caesar salad which I've had many times. Although I ordered the steak medium it was brought out well done. Additionally the lettuce was virtually floating in dressing. Inedible. Now, the scant 3 oz of steak comes sliced and so the chef AND waiter obviously saw that it was black inside, not pink. I wanted to send it back but our waiter never checked on us until the meal was done. Maybe because he knew it was cooked poorly. I waited but finally ate about half and only told him about the problems when he later asked if I wanted to take the rest home. He came back a few minutes later and said he brought it to a managers attention and they agreed it was incorrectly cooked, and they would be giving me a gift card. We paid our bill and waited another 15/20 minutes but he never returned with a gift card so we left. Ps- it wasn't busy. Now, 1. I never return food unless I have confidence in the reliability of the kitchen staff (which I did not here) and 2. Although I didn't have the intention of asking for a refund or gift card, once it was offered by the waiter it should have been presented. $27 for a salad with 3 oz of chewy overcooked beef and half a bottle of dressing is way too much! There are many excellent restaurants around this area to waste my money here.
