Honestly I've had better food from chipotle. Got the steak & chorizo tacos. All tortillas were broken and ice cold. The steak taco was literally about 4 tiny pieces of steak, mind you they were dry.. My family and I love Barrios. Great service and generally decent food. However, lately some of the items are not how they used to be. First of all, let's talk about the Jarritos( Mexican soda) if you are going to serve them room temperature, please serve them alongside a glass of ice. Just in case we need it cold. Also, your green goddess tortilla is not as good as it used to be. It seemed to not have the same bond it used to have. I felt like they just put the hard and soft tortilla together, without adding the queso and guacamole. Overall, the place is clean, and the staff is great. Genuinely one of the most confusing places I've ever been to order feels like I'm back in hs doing work in class and testing trying to order food and there preset menu has 4 items if you're hungry and want to just get a menu and order this isn't for you . Sent this email: No response! I'm reaching out to share my concerns with my visit today. No hostess at the station, this is the second time this has occurred in the last few weeks. Therefore, we had to wait to be seated. Once sat, placed our drink order and received cold, yesterday chips, they were not fresh at all. While eating our stale chips, the bartender "Michaela" was FaceTiming someone with all the other staff members. Not sure if they were speaking with a manager but doesn't seem very professional. Placed our order, no monthly tacos due to a non prep (kitchen) issue, very disappointing. We stayed & ordered bowls as we usually do & usually 2 monthly special tacos. We couldn't place the order for those tacos but we did choose others. Two people came in and were seated. Once they found out there were no specials, they got up and left. (We didn't). Bowls came to the table, rice and meats were correct. None of the other items ordered were in the bowl. It was like the kitchen put on whatever they had left over. We don't send food back ever! Music is always too loud. We come in about twice a month to eat. This has got to be one of the most disappointing visits. We may be taking a break from this haverhill establishment. My family has been going to Barrio for years. We celebrate birthday's anniversaries and just Friday night dinners there. It was one of our favorite places to go. They catered our daughter's graduation. I reached out to them on May 28th this year to see if they could cater our son's graduation party on June 14th. They said "We would be happy to cater your event." I reached back out with the head count and what we would like on June 2nd. On June 4th I sent a follow up email because I had not heard back on a confirmation. On June 5th I get an email from Matt Prescott saying unfortunately due to a high volume of orders that day, we will not be able to fulfill your order. Plus the menu is not super clear about upcharges for ingredients, they to say +1 next to some pretty clearly but it could be made more clear on menu that picking more than one item in a certain section of the build your own tacos will also add a dollar per. Keep in mind that Barrio is NOT a Mexican restaurant. It is a taco restaurant - only. Create your own tacos with check off pads at the table- there is however a small menu with handmade tacos (so less decisions, thank you). Drinks are strong and crafty if you like....nice salted chips as well and FRESH! No stale ones to be found! The tacos were solid- but small so order heavy or eat more chips. I will say that our visit started out very disappointing. We parked our car and called to see about immediate availability as we have 2 kids under 5 who were hungry. We were told they had immediate availability to seat us. We said we would be right in. When we walked in, they told us it was a 20 minute wait. We told them we just called and had to unload the kids from the car (which took 2 minutes) they said that they just seated another party. What added insult to injury, was they when we ordered drinks at the bar, they said no kids at the bar (which was understandable), and we should go outside. They also forgot our kids drinks on our order and then didn't give us lids like we asked for (they said they were out). After a 45 minute wait (when we were told ~20 mins), we were seated. The only thing that did happen correctly was drinks served quickly, although not entirely correct. To add insult to injury, our food didn't arrive at the table for 45 minutes and when it did, it came out cold. The manager came over and gave multiple excuses from short staffed (if that is the case, then don't let so many people into the restaurant) to the fact that they put cold toppings onto tacos, so that cools them down. It was not that the tacos were lukewarm, they were COLD, like they were sitting there for a long time. She offered to take care of our bill for us, but only the food portion. It was such a poor showing of a restaurant, my husband did not even try his food once he felt it was cold. The staff there was awful, complete lack of empathy and wanting to make thing right at every turn. We got treated like everything was our problem and that we were a nuisance. First time visiting Barrios it was definitely more then expected and I Will definitely be back. Loved how you can pick any toppings you like for your tacos. The watermelon caprese guacamole was incredible to start along with the watermelon margarita loves how it was rimmed with the Black Sea salt. The tacos were by far the best i had in a long time. Two tacos along with the chips and guacamole were very filling. I would recommend this to anyone and will be back again!! read more
