    Tacos Al Carbon
    Tyler G.

This was a second visit but the tacos al carbone were not great - I feel like they were insanely spicy and i could not pick up a single taco, the tortillas seemed to disintegrate into a mush immediately. I unfortunately wouldn't come back after this because the food was rough across the board. Seats have some holes and rips in them and there's better places to spend your money. I feel like you should be able to pick up tacos.

    bug in drink

Been going here for years, disappointed, waitress was rude, fruit fly in margarita pitcher when we sent it back they gave it back with a bug wing still in it, didn't even apologize for the literal bug in the drink, doubt they even remade it seeing as the wing was still in the pitcher. We used to love this place honestly just sad.

    Camarones Mexicanos

Came to this hole in the wall restaurant as a recommendation of my friend. We were seated right away on a Saturday afternoon by amiable staff. We shared a pitcher of margarita that we were able to make a custom mango and passion fruit fusion. The server said it 4 portions but we were able to get 4.5 servings. Well worth the cost compared to ordering individual drinks. For entrees, I forgot exactly what my friend got. It looked like a chicken enchiladas/burrito covered in a verte sauce, cheese, tomatoes and sour cream. I got a camarones Mexicanos plate. The shrimp were plump and tender that were simmering in a flavorful sauce. The bell peppers and onions were sautéed until soft served over a bed of rice and melted cheese on top. Every bit was tasty and exactly what I wanted after visiting the gun range and rock climbing. Would come again for the service and food.

Gratuity added on a table of three. Are that many people stuffing wait staff, which made this necessary?

I have been going here since they opened almost ten years ago?!?!?! Food was great but the atmosphere is tacky. Music was way too loud. When you cannot hear your server speak, that's a bad sign. The guacamole has gone downhill. The amount of tomatoes in the guacamole was overwhelming. It wasn't guacamole. It was salsa mixed with some avocado. It's not right to cheapen an expensive condiment. Don't stretch your food product and try to sell it as something it isn't. Makes me wonder if they water down their alcohol too. They added a gratuity into my check with no warning whatsoever. It was a party of three. No need to add a gratuity. The hostess said it was because the bill was over $100. If you have a policy like that, you need to inform the customer. I rarely look at my bills, but I needed to make sure our $10 coupon was applied-it wasn't. I doubt I will return. There are plenty of authentic Mexican restaurants closer to my home.

    Shrimp cocktail

Shrimp cocktail always served cold , avid shrimp cocktail eater here and they decided to make it hot for me , when I asked why they simply said oh it's on the menu very rudely without a care in the world to service their patrons .. Was here once before but after this , highly doubt I'll be back, sucks really ... Mainly for the lack of care ...

    Passion Fruit Margarita

Not as good as my friend made it sound, although she was right about the margarita. While waiting for your food or to order, you get nachos and very plain salsa. I ordered the Deluxe Burrito and enjoyed it for the most part. Thought I would need salsa to add flavor or like my Taco Bell, I just like to drown burritos/tacos in hot sauce. But it was fine, all the flavors from the burrito just melted together. As for the not so Super Nachos, I was going to help my friend eat it, but noticed a lack of nachos. This you can see in the picture; good thing they gave you free nachos in the beginning!

The menu proudly advertised a variety of margaritas, which initially felt promising on a Friday. SOLD! That optimism was short-lived. Parking technically exists, but the lot is so narrow it feels more like a trust exercise. Drive straight or prepare to exchange insurance information. We were seated quickly, which was great. Unfortunately, the booth area we were placed in was very dark--white text on a pink background in low lighting is certainly... a choice. Vision test unlocked. Our waiter? Service was present but forgettable. No name, no personality, no guidance. We weren't informed about the lunch menu until after our food arrived--because it was never mentioned. No recommendations, no upsell, no effort to engage. Prices leaned high, which would've been acceptable if the food had arrived hot. Instead, everything landed in that awkward lukewarm zone as if it had been sitting patiently, waiting for us to lower our expectations. The drinks were... confusing. My friend and I ordered the same margarita. Hers arrived a deep purple sangria-adjacent color. Mine came out pale and peach-toned. Same drink, allegedly. Consistency was not invited to the party. We weren't rushing--this was a rare chance to catch up. We ordered multiple margaritas, an appetizer, and entrées. Despite this, the server made it very clear that our continued presence was inconvenient. This was apparently unacceptable. Our waiter made it very clear he was not into us hanging around. Overall: atmosphere was decent, but the vibe wasn't friendly or particularly welcoming. Between the inconsistent drinks, lukewarm food, and the "please leave" energy, this one missed the mark entirely.

Today the place seemed a bit slow so maybe they didn't have the need to have a fresh batch constantly being made. Regardless they were acceptable and the salsa was good. I ordered the Pescado Azteca. Came out quickly and nice and hot! Kudos for not making the dish swimming in cheese sauce! Just enough to mix with the shrimp and veggies with a little bit to flavor the already seasoned white fish. Fish was a little bit dry, but the fresh veggies and shrimp livened it up. Mexican rice was good, could use a little more seasoning in my opinion but overall a well made rice. Overall a good experience and happy that I was not auto-tipped on the bill. Though that practice has not stopped and I witnessed the table next door deal with that situation. I'm happy to get my fix for Mexican food here and hoping the service remains top notch!

I had to travel up to Massachusetts on Monday and I was quite disappointed with the lack of a New England accent on anyone. We used to be a proper country. In any event, on Monday, I went to Mexica Burrito Grill. I met a man, on the line in front of me who insisted this place was good. I was skeptical because, I don't know this guy and why was he being so friendly? I ignored the warning signs and assumed he may be correct as he too was a husky gentleman. I ordered a burrito bowl with carnitas. I told them to include the rice and beans, because a man needs fuel that sticks to the ribs, along with double carnitas, cheese, and nothing else that sounded like it belonged in a rabbit's lunch. No vegetables, no salsa, no cilantro trying to ruin a perfectly good meal. They delivered. The carnitas were delish, properly seared, and tasted like actual pork that had been treated with respect (salt, heat, and time). The rice and beans did their job, simple, hearty, and not pretending to be anything fancy. No lectures about "fresh ingredients" or where the avocado came from. No one cares, Chad. Just a solid bowl of meat and starch, which is how God intended bowls to be used. I ate it back at the hotel with a black coffee and a pocketknife for portion control. Felt like I could split logs afterward. This is acceptable food. I may return. Highly recommended for men who understand that beef or pork are staples, with enough rice and beans to keep the machine running.

Later, I remembered that I had visited Tekila's before COVID and that someone in my party had ordered fried fish with tostones. I decided this would be the perfect place to bring her. The restaurant is conveniently located right off the highway and has ample parking. When we walked in at 6:00 PM, we were surprised to find the place completely empty. I wondered if I had misread their hours, but a staff member soon came out, informed us they were open, and told us we could sit wherever we liked. One of the first things that stood out to me was that, although the restaurant advertises authentic Mexican cuisine with a Caribbean twist, the atmosphere felt more Dominican than Mexican. From the large poster featuring famous Dominicans to the overall vibe, I assumed that was the "Caribbean twist." I also noticed that roughly one-fifth of the restaurant was occupied by band equipment and a stage. When I asked our server about it, she explained that the owner is a musician and has a band that performs there a couple of nights each week. At that point, I began to think the restaurant's primary focus might be more of a bar or nightlife crowd. To start, we ordered a house margarita and a beer. Both were refreshing on a hot day. Looking over the menu, I was pleased to see three fish dishes named after places in the Dominican Republic, so I thought we were in for a treat. My mother ordered the Pescado Boca Chica, described as fried snapper served with tostones and salad. I chose the Pescado Samaná, named after an area in the Dominican Republic known for its coconut-based sauces. I also asked about the rice and beans and was told they were prepared Dominican-style. When our meals arrived, I was surprised by the portion sizes. The fish did not look particularly large, even though my mother's fish was listed on the bill as a large portion for $34.99. It also didn't have any salad dressing. My own dish appeared sad-looking, and at $36.99, I found it overpriced. The coconut sauce was decent, but I wouldn't call it delicious. The side dishes were also quite small. Overall, the food tasted okay, but for a total of $100.56 before tip, I did not feel it offered good value. The service was good, and we tipped 20% based on the total bill. I should also note that the house margarita was listed on the menu at $12, but I was charged $15. I chose not to mention it to the server and simply let it go. When I asked my mother how she would rate the experience, she gave it a 2 out of 5. I'm giving it a 3 out of 5 because there were some positive aspects, including the cleanliness of the place and service. However, the food and pricing did not justify a return visit for me.
