Came for lunch during the week. Decent-sized menu. However, the food was rather average when it arrived. Tried most of the taco options and they were decen but nothing special. The chicken was a little bland. The tostado was just a few tacos broken in half - felt like cheating and a letdown. They also used a ton of lettuce as filler. The service was fantastic, even during a busy rush hour. However, the food quality was such that while I wouldn't turn it down I'd definitely go somewhere else next time. read more

This place has a permanent place in my heart for the gluten free tamales and a very friend menu with a byob policy making it a fun and inexpensive night out. The staff are all friendly the food is good and one of the better I've found in the area. The staff are authentic and real. We came here a few weeks ago because we are still in search of some excellent fajitas and my husband hadn't been here in years. It's a very small restaurant, but they do have tables. Very busy with takeout! It is BYOB. I got the chicken flautas and they were good, if a little thicker than I'm used to. The chicken was very tender. My husband got the steak and chicken fajitas. He was not asked how he wanted the steak cooked so we were interested in how it came out. He said although the meat was flavorful and tender, he wished it came in long strips. The rice was delicious. We got the mild and spicy salsa and my husband said the spicy salsa was the best salsa he's every add. I was also very happy with how fresh and flavorful the guacamole was! I will admit that this place doesn't look like much when you walk in, but the food was bomb! My friends and I arrived around 6pm on a weekday and we were the only ones there. We got free chips and salsa (we ask for refills twice), which was amazing because we were STARVING! I got the steak fajita and we got a pitcher of the Betty Boop margarita to share. The steak fajita was DELICIOUS - the steak was so tender and flavorful, and the veggies were very well seasoned! The portion was humongous - I definitely ate faster than my stomach could process since everything tasted so good! The Betty Boop was STRONG, but tasted great. Overall, I had a great experience! Although this is a far cry from that base, it's still within the realm of adequate when it comes to satiating my palate. Don't get your burrito bowl "deluxe" style, or it will come in what seems like an entire can of enchilada sauce. Extremely soupy. I could not eat it. It was not supposed to come with beans or sour cream, but it came with both in it. The pork was not what I expected for carnitas, it was in chunks similar looking to steak, not pulled. read more

I've been to three amigos a few times and I'll definitely come back again. They aren't usually too busy when I go (weekdays) so I've never had to wait. I've tried their tacos which comes with rice and beans. The rice and beans are cooked very nicely and definitely adds to the dish really well. Their fish tacos are super big portions and definitely fills you up. They give you a lot of fish which is fried very nicely. I've also had their truffle fries which are a decent portion with a nice ruffle aroma, crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. Their chrome ceviche is fresh and comes with a side of crackers. Their quesadilla is filled with meat and cheese and the meat is very tender. They definitely have good food and not to mention they give you free chips and salsa!! Would definitely recommend this place! read more

The Chips and salsa were on the house. Disappointing as well. Chips were stale and salsa tasted overwhelmingly of tomato sauce, with a very bland flavor. The spicy salsa they offer is more like a MILD salsa you might find at a grocery store but even then that might be spicier AND taste better. Portions were good so if you're looking for something filling this your spot. AMBIANCE: 9/10 Probably the most authentic thing here. We were visiting town this weekend and wanted to support a small local business while having some yummy Mexican food... this was NOT. IT. Service was okay but could be better. Had to ask for refills on water, chips, salsa every time. There was actually a couple next to use that left after being seated with chips because no one ever returned with menus to order. Food was honestly terrible. Burrito seemed like Something I would get from a grocery store and zero Latino authenticity. Food had no flavor, salsa tasted store bought (as did most the food we ate) the steak was a horrible cut and extremely chewy. I ordered for the first time last week and the carne asada tacos were amazing! The refried beans were very flavorless, pretty disappointing. This week I got the Carne asada burrito and it was not as good as I had hoped. The meat wasn't as good,rice was slightly undercooked and the whole thing fell apart on the first bite. I was disappointed with the meal that I received here today. Combo Cheese enchilada and beef enchilada. The cheese enchilada was cold. I was wondering why, because it was topped with melted cheese sauce, but inside of the enchilada was just cold shredded cheese. Not melted. Unacceptable cold meal on a cold day. I have never had cold enchilada anywhere in my life. The beef inside of the beef enchilada was ground beef to such small grains and overcooked that it had the texture of sand particles. Unacceptable and disgusting. It was also cold. The rice was OK and the refried beans were warm with melted cheese on top. Service person was kind and helpful. Nachos and hot sauce were good. Went this past Sunday and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The food was very delicious and such big portions. The prices were very affordable. The family that runs the restaurant is so genuinely nice and does such a great job making you feel welcome. Next time we come to Massachusetts we will definitely come back. read more

Been getting take out from here for years and never disappointed. The tacos are my favorite and the meat and fillings are always cooked perfectly and tender. Seasoned well. Their hot salsa is really good, and the mild is well mild but both are really fresh tasting. Kiddo loves the burritos. Tried this place on a whim for lunch with coworkers. Two of us ordered different burritos with the works. Our burritos came out the exact same with different meats. Not sure how that was possible considering I did not order chili verde. Also the burrito was pretty bland and that one. Bland taste dominated the whole burrito. These are the good guys. When we moved to Stoneham in 2019 a coworker of mine recommended this place based on the taco salad she would get after going to Weight Watchers. That taco salad is no joke! My husband and I typically order the carne asada soft tacos, but over the years we have tried most of the menu. No matter what you pick, the best thing about this place is the people. The people who run it work so hard, are friendly, and even remember requests from visit to visit. The added bonus of this place being BYOB, getting a full dinner for an affordable price gives us little reason to go to other restaurants in town. read more

If you're looking for something that is Tex-Mex, don't go here. This is a frantic as it can get without having to step across the border with a passport. Their food is amazing, and very very inexpensive. You can buy tacos by the taco. 123 or four? Your choice. We went in on a Saturday night at the last minute unexpectedly, looking for a bite to eat because our original plans had Alan through. We were greeted warmly and told to sit where we'd like to. The only downside to this place? Your seating is sub shop style. Uncomfortable booths and tables. I wish that they spent some time and actually updating that so people can enjoy their food and a full experience other than just more like a takeout feel. We were greeted warmly by the waitress and asked if we wanted something to drink. We both got sodas from that chest, and sat back down. Homemade salsa, hot or mild. And what I believe are homemade chips as well. They also sold them in bags if we wanted to take some home. Flavorful, and didn't taste processed. I like that. He got the chorizo tacos, and I got a shredded beef taco. We also got guacamole. I can't say enough about the meal. It was just so good. You really need to go and experience it yourself. read more

My friend introduced me to this little gem in the wall years ago. I've had Mexican fare at fast food places many times, Taco Bell, Chipotle, Border Cafe, etc. but this was the first time at a real authentic restaurant. I always get the same thing, I'm a creature of habit, the steak soft tacos. I'm not a big fan of beans, unless they're home made or in the right dish, so I prefer tacos over burritos. But maybe one of these days I'll expand my horizons and order them or another dish at Amigos. The tacos here compared to the mass produced on an assembly line tacos at a place like Taco Bell, is like comparing a Corvette to a Camry. All fresh ingredients prepared and cooked while you wait by an all Latino staff, who also eat the food there on their lunch breaks. That's always a good sign. And knowledgeable and good cooks they certainly are, I never had one complaint about the food or ever seen anyone else while dining there either. I peeked inside the kitchen once and it looks clean and organized. They have a great diverse menu with also American style food, and a kids menu. The inside looks small, but there's plenty of tables and chairs. It's cozy and relaxing. No extra loud hip-hop music, or twirling flashy colored lights blinding you. They have a nice display of Mexican decorations and reproduction paintings, some by the famous Diego Rivera, that adorn the walls. It really adds to the whole eating experience. The one that runs the place, probably the owner, is a friendly guy who also takes your order at times. And you don't have to get your food the way it's described on the menu, you can get it with different toppings if you prefer. I'm not big on Guacamole, so I get it prepared my way. I started eating here more often lately because it's a lot more healthier than Burger joints and KFC. If you blink you'll pass right by Three Amigos and will have to do a U-turn to get to it, but once you get there you won't be disappointed. Mucho Beuno! read more

Price point was pretty good though. Started w/ chips and salsa and the chips didn't seem as fresh as I've had at other places. I ordered 2 carne asada tacos but got 2 ground beef tacos--which were tasty but not what I asked for. Also got the chicken tamale which had good chicken but soooo much dry masa. But I haven't had a tamale before so I don't have a baseline to compare to. BF got a quesadilla that seemed really plain but he said it was ok. You'd get better tastier fries at McDonald's and you know almost anything taste better when you eat it while you're HUNGRY...not even hunger made this burrito taste like anything other than wrapping paper.
