    Margaritas
    Madison N.

Had a fun evening of margaritas and fried ice cream. I can say that's the best evening ever. Started with some complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is so delicious. I had a skinny margarita and my partner had a strawberry frozen margarita. Both were good and boy could they pack a punch. One was enough for us! We ended our evening with some fried ice cream, I think we ate that down within a minute. It was perfection. Had an awesome evening here!

We were seated right away! Our server was very prompt, water and drinks. Chips and salsa were served and consumed quickly. We added some guacamole. Very creamy with a bit of bite to it. I ordered the spinach enchiladas-- large portions and nicely prepared. He ordered the veggie burrito and both huge and delicious. Really lovely dinner and go on a Monday as this place is always packed.

This place is such a vibe in the middle of downtown Melrose! We were looking for something late Tuesday night for a quick meal and ended up staying till late. Their menu has many options ranging from tacos, fajitas, and everything in between. The portion sizes are ginormous and great for sharing. We got the Birria tacos and wings. The Birria tacos were a little dry but they had plenty of consume to compensate for it. The rice which came with the side is possible the best Mexican rice I've had. It was spicy and had a nice kick to it. The drinks are also large. Their sangria is house made. Everything was decently priced. The service is a little slow, but I think the food and prices make up for it. Will definitely be back!

Complimentary warm tortilla chips and salsa. Excellent margarita.

I was thrilled when I saw Chile Rellenos stuffed with cheese on their menu! Haven't seen those on a Mexican restaurant since El Torito went out of business! And they didn't disappoint - they were huge, gooey with melted cheese and glorious! I could only finish one. Complimentary warm tortilla chips and salsa to start, along with an excellent margarita (not complimentary :-)) Servers were friendly, accomodating and efficient. We will be back to watch a game and snack on a pile of nachos!

I will start by saying I've been here a couple of times largely because of how great the food is. We strongly believe the portions, quality and price are excellent value. The ambiance is always lively and popping. Great music and a nice patio area out back when the weather heats up. The service is the only negative of this restaurant, but it is a big one. Although the receptionist and employees who refill your chips/salsa are extremely friendly and nice, the waiters always provide poor service. Our bad experience with waiter Oscar resulted in this review. We were seated quickly and received our first round of chips/dip. Great. While checking out the menu, our waiter (Oscar) asked if we were ready to order. Nope, still need a minutes to decide. Ok, no problem. 20 minutes go by without a word from Oscar. Even then, I understand it's Father's Day and busy, so I can let that go. However, I see Oscar waiting the adjacent tables very attentively and grab his attention so we can order our food. I'm given a curt and rude "give me a second" before he disappears again. Finally he reappears and I'm able to put in my order, however this experience dampened my mood and ruined an otherwise pleasant evening. Although he took forever to wait on us for food, he had no problem being quick to get the bill and take my card. Not sure I'll return but IF I do, I will make sure to get a different waiter.

Love love love Mexico Lindo! This is a family staple, we all love their food which is consistently amazing. From the kids' grilled cheese and fries (which are extra crispy and delicious) to all of the more authentic flavors, it's all good. I typically have the fajitas or steak street tacos and am never disappointed. My husband tends to try the different ground beef combos. We sometimes go in to eat, but with three young kids it's tough so we often do take out. Service is always quick and the food is hot even when we do take out. As long as they're in town, we'll be loyal customers!

Best Mexican restaurant in the area! Not only does this place offer traditional Mexican dishes but there's a decent selection of dishes you won't find anywhere else! Quality food that will fill you up that is reasonably priced! I especially love coming here in the summer because they have a nice covered patio so you can enjoy the outdoors while not actually being outside.

In a region where it's hard to find quality Mexican food, this is a rare gem. I just went to Mexico recently too and I strongly feel like this compares in quality. Service is fast and attentive. Highly recommend the La Fresa to drink and Enchiladas Tula as your meal. My food portion was huge so definitely brought some home. They also have a porch area which is nice in warmer months for those who prefer outdoor dining in a pandemic.

The atmosphere, the food, the service all really really good. I wish they would make the outdoor part heated so there is more seating.

Authentic Mexican food. Great steak tacos and the enchiladas are also pretty good. It's always busy on the weekends but it's worth the wait.

You can feel the pride they take in their food and hospitality from the moment you walk through the door. We stopped in on Taco Tuesday, where most tacos are 20% off. The only exception was the birria tacos--which, of course, happened to be exactly what we wanted. After taking the first bite, we couldn't have cared less that they weren't included in the special. They were absolutely worth every penny. The birria tacos were incredible--loaded with tender, juicy meat, plenty of melted cheese, and packed with rich, authentic flavor in every bite. They were perfectly prepared and easily some of the best birria tacos we've had. If you're looking to support a fantastic local business while enjoying amazing Mexican food, Caliente Mexican Grill should absolutely be on your list. We'll definitely be back to work our way through more of the menu, but those birria tacos will be hard to pass up. Highly recommended!

Tacos came with shredded beef and perfectly melted cheese, slammed together with a crispy outer shell and softer inner taco. Yum!

A lot of places double up on the tortillas for this reason, but no need here. We ordered the birria, carnitas, and cabeza tacos, chicken sopes, beans, rice, sweet plantains, sweet rice pudding and horchata. Standouts were the carnitas and cabeza for me - very delicious in their simplicity, the meat is seasoned and cooked to perfection. Birria was also very good but overhyped IMO (novelty factor). The chicken sopes were way bigger than expected, could easily be a meal on its own and the masa tart was pretty good. Our table liked the green sauce to add zip to the food. It was very sunny when we went, so it was blinding and hot to be sitting inside, hope they install a shade at some point. They seem to only serve in takeout containers, so eating at a table requires getting a bit creative for a "plate" etc. There's a small lot behind the building and street parking is pretty easy. I will definitely be returning to try the lengua and more things next time!

We got the carne asade and chicken taco especial, the hibiscus tea, and churros! The tacos were delish! I usually opt for flour tortillas, however they make their corn tortillas and they are the soft ones, so I wanted to try it as it comes - I was not disappointed! The tacos come in 4 to a meal, so we so split two and two. Naturally, I prefer steak but both the chicken and steak were phenomenal. Lots of flavor!! The taco especial, has onions and cilantro and a nice lime squeeze on the side that is a nice flavor burst and addition. If you want the lettuce, cheese, tomato, etc. then you want the americano version. The tacos come with two sauces, both of which were spicy but you can tell were made/fresh! But that hibiscus tea - wow!! So delish! It was sweet and flavorful and a sip of freshness!! The churros were also incredible. Not that I didn't think I'd like the dulce de leche filling but it was um-yes yum! The outside was nice and crispy obv coated in cinnamon and sugar and then the inside was soft and doughy but not raw dough, just perfection. The dipping sauce was excellent too - they could provide a little bit more of it but we made it work. Anyways, highly recommend. It's fresh and authentic- clearly homemade with good ingredients!! Can't wait to try more from the menu!

Their salsa is the best you'll find anywhere but my absolute favorite has always been the blackened chicken fajita! They serve it with hot tortillas wrapped in a towel, pico, cheese, and guacamole, all on a bed of lettuce. There was nothing better than the scent of that steaming, SIZZLING platter when it was brought out from the kitchen to the table! Other customers would turn their heads to see it when they heard the sizzle and smelled the fajita! Everyone knew what it was! Lot's of oooohs and ahhhhs!! Well, the last several times my husband and I have gone there (we moved to New Hampshire) we've been very disappointed. The fajitas no longer sizzle!!! I asked our waitress why it wasn't steaming and sizzling the last time we were there. She told us some parents complained that the platter was too hot with kids at the table. Well, don't order it...or keep an eye on your kids! Hello! We went again today as I was dying for a fajita. We drove an hour from where we live in NH. Once again, I ordered the blackened chicken fajita. I made a point to tell our waiter "I want it SIZZLING" It arrived hot, not sizzling. I asked him why? He said, "They stopped doing it because the heat was setting off the fire alarms!" (interesting that I've now gotten 2 different excuses) Really? I've been getting the sizzling fajitas since 1994 and have never heard of that happening!! I told him the steaming, sizzling platter of fajita is a VERY LARGE part of the experience and they need to start doing it again! My husband thinks some woke nitwit probably touched the hot platter, complained about a lawsuit, and that's why they're not doing it anymore. If that's true, it sucks for the rest of us who like a SIZZLING FAJITA!!! C'mon Border Cafe! Bring back the fajitas we all know and love! Add a disclaimer on the menu that the plate is hot if people are too dumb to know that steam + sizzle = hot!! I wrote on my bill when I signed it: "Please bring back the sizzling fajita!" When you do, I'll update this review and give you 5 stars.
