Caliente Mexican Grill in Malden is exactly the kind of local, family-owned neighborhood gem that deserves all the support it can get. You can feel the pride they take in their food and hospitality from the moment you walk through the door. We stopped in on Taco Tuesday, where most tacos are 20% off. The only exception was the birria tacos--which, of course, happened to be exactly what we wanted. After taking the first bite, we couldn't have cared less that they weren't included in the special. They were absolutely worth every penny. The birria tacos were incredible--loaded with tender, juicy meat, plenty of melted cheese, and packed with rich, authentic flavor in every bite. They were perfectly prepared and easily some of the best birria tacos we've had. If you're looking to support a fantastic local business while enjoying amazing Mexican food, Caliente Mexican Grill should absolutely be on your list. Modest Mexican restaurant on the corner of main st. I came with zero line in a Wednesday afternoon at 4:30. All reasonably priced options under $25. I went with the birria tacos and was not disappointed! 3 for $15 and came with a side of Mexican rice, some sliced radish and lime wedges. The beef stew to dip the tacos in was tasty and rich. Love this place! Good food at great prices! Came here last week for dinner. It's kind of a hole in the wall, counter service place in Malden. They have a menu of various Mexican fare or you can build your own burrito. I got the tacos al pastor and the chicken fajita plate. Since it was a Tuesday, all tacos were 20% off (excluding birria) plus the giant plate of fajitas was only $20! The tacos packed some good flavor and the fajitas were solid. They came with 3 corn tortillas, rice, beans, pico de gallo, and a little guac, sour cream, and lettuce. Overall, the food was more than decent: not standout but definitely really good. Probably one of the best quesabirria's I've had around Massachusetts. The outside was crispy and the meat was so soft. The connsomee was the perfect dipping soup. We also got the quesadillas which came with lettuce, pico degallo, corn, guacamole, and sour cream. It was SO good! Everything just melted in my mouth. The al pastor tacos were okay. I think everything else set the bar too high already. I came back a second time and tried their burrito and it was solid. The steak was tender and juicy. I love that this place gives guac for free! I did have to add my own spicy sauce to add a little more flavor to it. I typically order online and it's ready for pick up within 15 minutes. The people are very nice! read more

(3 for $10.99): my boyfriend thought these were pretty good in taste and size. - build-your-own taco with your choice of meat and unlimited toppings (1 for $4.99): this was yummy and perfect, as I only had a hankering for one taco. I chose a soft corn tortilla with al pastor, and (unlimited toppings) of lettuce, corn, pico de gallo, cheese, grilled pineapple, raw onions and cilantro. - side (queso, $2.50 for about 1/4 cup): salty goodness - a little goes a long way! - side (guacamole, $2.50 for about 1/4 cup): yummy! - side (rice & beans, large for $3.99): the black beans were good (they come whole, not mashed). The rice was a little too al dente for me. - side (ground beef, $5.99 for about a cup): my favorite of the entire order. We ate it with chips, salsa, and queso. I've been coming here since their grand opening food was so delicious and perfect portions and they had some great food and staff everyone is so welcoming and the women that remember me is always so inviting and helpful . Aside from that the more frequent visits the food quality has went downhill. My most recent visit I ordered four orders and one of them is my all time favorites which is the salsa verde pork tacos , I wish the guy would had told me it's running low and weren't going to be enough for 6 tacos. Anyways I got home and found my tacos drenched in the salsa verde gravy , each taco had 3-4 chop bits of pork. Very salty Which was very disappointing because I looked forward to this meal The mixed grill double steak and pork that I requested extra meat weren't really an extra steak or pork aside to that I ordered. The portion is a bit skim than what I'm used to and I also can confirm that. I tried this place for the first time, based on reviews here. Usually I get at other places I go, the burrito bowl or what I call the Mexican plate and ask for tortillas to make my own tacos. I decided to get chicken enchiladas. 13 for 3, and refried beans, rice, sour cream, lettuce, guac and salsa all came with - no upcharges fir any of these and they dont scimp. I asked for jalapeños instead of corn to add some zing and it was a good swap out. Everything was very good and a hella lot of food! Today was my second and last time ever going to this location. I called during my lunch break to order fish tacos and the person taking my order said steak tacos? I corrected him and said NO fish tacos F.I S.H he then confirmed my order 10 minutes later I picked up my order. When I drove off I checked my order and he gave me steak tacos. I immediately called and said that my order was wrong and although it was a mistake I can not eat meat so I wanted to get the correct order. He confirmed and when I arrived 2 minutes later said that I would need to pay full price for the fish tacos because I should have ordered online to avoid mistakes and that they would not be taking my order back in exchange for my correct order. The man was extremely rude and when I asked what I was supposed to do with the steak tacos he said "give it to a friend or throw it in the trash. That's not our problem" I walked out.
