I rate this place a 5/5 for many reasons. My review may be a little biased because my group of friends and I are regulars here but we all enjoy coming by the Mucky Duck. The bartenders are great and will remember you orders if you come through enough. Shout out to JJ who always helps us out when we are there. In terms of bar food their food is yummy! Definitely get some appetizers to share like the chicken totchos, loaded fries, chips and queso, black bean nachos, or even the pretzel. Everything pairs well with one of the many beers they have on tap. Main meal wise, they do pretty well too! I like the southwest chicken wrap and the bacon ranch chicken sandwich. Also if you are looking for a fun time with friends, come by on a Wednesday evening to take part in the 8pm trivia hosted by Joel! (Who is also the best). There are prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and last. This was a typical pub experience. I felt mildly sketched out, hard to say why, but all in all it was better than expected. We sat ourselves, uncertain if that was the way to do it, and it was pretty quiet on a Saturday night. They asked if we wanted food or just drinks, and we opted for a food menu. There was no beverage menu. "We have pretty much anything you'd want," the waitress said. "What do you like?" This is a hard question for me to answer in a pub. Im not really a beer person and the menu usually inspires me. Thankfully, she listed off a Moscow Mule as a possibility, and that sounded good. I was certain it would be made with a heavy pour, and while it might have been, it didn't taste like it. It was well made. My husband doesn't drink, and I think he got an unsweetened iced tea. We ordered some wings and tater tots. The waitress helped us decide on flavors of wing sauces (mango habanero and lemon pepper). They were both good. My husband loved the tater tots, but he's doing the keto thing and only at a literal two. After eating all the rest myself, I can say they taste good, but they're more oil than potato. One thing that really bugs me about restaurants is that they keep pictures from years ago that are no longer relevant. Mucky Duck has great reviews, but much of the food that they are showing no longer exists on the menu. There were four of us and we tried the chicken tachos, the burger, and the tacos. The food was good, the chicken tachos are supposedly a very popular dish but the flavor was missing something and the boneless chicken wings were not great. The service was excellent and ambience is fun, they only had one person serving the whole place and she was killing it, so kudos to her. We went for trivia night with a group. Great vibe. One of the bartenders, taller blond, definitely had an attitude problem. Every time we ordered something she would roll her eyes. When she brought the drinks over she slammed them down, spilling some of it. We thought maybe it was just our group but she treated everyone seated at the bar the same as well. I'm impressed with how faithfully this place met my expectations...and didn't, in all the best ways. Atmosphere It looks like a dive in the middle of suburban America. It could be if it didn't exceed the spirt of an Irish pub. From the first door you enter, it was very thoughtful about every inch of then space. Food It's unfortunate the food is not great, as it's a super convenient option. The meal selection is basically a burger or sandwich. Neither is anything to write home about...or write a great review for. Service This depends on your expectations and preference. The waitress act like they're too busy to care, even when you're the only two people there. There's an indifference to taking your order or delivering food. However, I was extremely disappointed that none of the indoor tables are wheelchair-accessible. When we got there they didn't have a clue what we were talking about nor (obviously) did they have a table for us. There was 20 tv's but only 15 worked and the game we wanted had to wait for other games to get done on tv's that were being used. The food was good, the drinks were awful. The worst pineapple rum I've ever had. I asked for a diet soda instead- obviously from a bar soda gun- disgusting - Undrinkable. And again while the food was good, We ordered appetizers and ordered egg rolls and queso with chips. I went there during my last visit to Dallas with two friends, and the bar tender Jessica came in with a bad attitude. She decided to throw us out for no reason, because she apparently didn't want to be at work that day. We spoke with the manager, and she said she had to close out our tab because it was easier to have us leave than to lose her only bar tender. My husband and I visited this place around 4pm on a Saturday afternoon. We were looking for a place that had a happy hour on Saturday, which they did! Out waitress was very attentive. She came back to check on us regularly. We never went without a drink. I ordered the bleu cheese burger with fries. Their fries were very crispy. They burger was very tasty. I love dive bars. I especially love dive bars with good food and cheap drinks. We came on a Friday where happy hour is from 3-8. This means 3.50 wells, drafts, and $5 apps. 3.50 stella? Oh yea. The atmosphere here is comfy. I love that they have televisions with different programming such as movies, sports, etc. They also have an outdoor patio which I keep forgetting about but will try to remember next time. It has a wooden cabin or tavern feel to it. The staff is friendly and helpful. They are always on top of things and making sure customers are happy. It's something that is rare to see at most restaurants nowadays. The food is also amazing. I love getting the appetizer sampler to share with friends. I could probably eat the whole thing as the main course. I also love their fish and chips. I'm not a fan of the sliders but the other menu items make up for it. First time visiting Mucky Duck and I enjoyed it! I went during happy hour on a Friday night (during game 4 of the 2019 NBA FINALS) and it wasn't that crowded or loud! They seem to have pretty good HH offerings daily and on Fridays they extend the happy hour by 1 hour, until 8pm. It's in a great area of town too! It's in Addison circle, and outside seating is available. The only reason I'm not giving Mucky Duck five stars is because our server (don't know her name, she never gave it) was DRY and detached not blatantly rude...just......not nice at all either. The Mucky Duck Bar (say that 10 times fast!) used to be Zen like 5 years. Not much has changed. Pretty much the same décor (a little tweaking here and there) and, being that it's located in Addison Circle, it wasn't surprising to see some family faces from over a decade before. It's just that way in this area for whatever reason...umerm. Decent 80s jams play throughout. Think soft metal. Rock out with your c&^k out! Smoking is permitted on the back patio and they have space heaters out during cooler weather. The patrons are pretty chill during the week, but can get a bit rowdy on the weekends. Live DJ on Fri & Sat from 10-close. I guess I'm just getting too old for the "scene" - but wait, those "same" peeps have gotten old too. To each their own! One plus for me is they have a bright shiny new hi-def "crack box" (aka Mega Touch Game Machine) at the end of the bar - love me some trivia (takes cash or credit; live trivia on Wednesdays). Mucky obviously resets the machine every night, so you get loads of bonus rounds. Score! And, even on a busy night (which are most nights), getting a drink isn't too tricky. The bartenders are attentive enough. Just have to get their attention with wave of hand and not a boob shot like in the old days. ;) My husband was so glad he didn't have to show off his mobs to the female tender - and she was probably even more thrilled (without knowing it). Lol. Good happy hour hang: Friday HH goes all the way from 3-8pm on Fridays; and they also have weekend HHs: Sat from 3-8, and $3 draughts, wells, and other select shots (e.g., Fireball) all 3 bucks a pop on Sundays! It's never a packed place when I come but bartenders don't care about tables and there is no one else. This bar didn't earn a 4 just because I wasn't wowed by the experience or atmosphere. It's a nice place and the wait staff was very prompt and timely so I have no complaints. I ordered fish and chips, the potstickers, and a Guinness. Potstickers were the typical yank from a bag and fry covered in some kinda sauce, the fish and chips were crispy but a tad oily, and the Guinness was perfect. I went on a Monday so there was plenty of parking and seating so I wouldn't be able to judge a busy night crowd. Great little bar with awesome drink specials all week long! Not many places you can get a draft Black Velvet or any specialty beers for $3.50. They also offer Happy Hour on the weekends, which most places don't dream of doing.There is also daily specials on food, live trivia and a free taco bar one day a week.
