Axes, Ales, Lagers, and Bears, Oh My... Who would have thought that drinking beer and throwing axes go together? Not this guy. I was curious to check things out though. Perhaps the creative, comedian, actor, Mike Myers was onto something in 1993 with the film "So I Married an Axe Murderer." Don't know the name Mike Myers? He is also the actor and creator of Austin Powers. Speaking of setting the mood, "Baby." The Mighty Axe is a great, low-key vibe with an outdoor, gas fire pit in the front, making you feel at home. Or someone else's house, hanging out in the backyard. You'll never have to wait long for a fresh pint of beer, as the bar is never excessively crowded. You won't break the bank either, prices are reasonable, and service is friendly. It has small-town, blue-collar, vibes, that mike you feel welcomed. We saw the staffing running in and out of the place, picking up food for patrons that were having fun in the Axe throwing area / lanes. These guys really hustle to make sure you're having a good time, well hydrated, and nourished. In the far back of the place is also a section of video games, for those not confident in their abilities to juggle blades and brews. While we didn't participate in any Axe throwing, it was nice to hang out in the front, next to the fire pit and enjoy a few cold brews. The selection of local beverages from Seaward Brewing and with names like Ventura HIghWey make it fun to order and support local businesses. It's a win-win-win situation at the Mighty Axe.

Ryan was the absolute best. I stopped by with my amiga just to grab a kombucha. Service is quick . You can order food from Pizza Man Dan's or Luna Grill and they'll walk it over to you ! Good crowd ! Real fireplace and also electric fireplace for the cool vibes. Too much of a scaredy cat to try the axe throwing . Too much Final Destination movie PTSD for me ;/ They also have happy hour!!!

Haley was so great from the introduction to safety rules and how to play the game ... what a great place, Ryan was very cool and provided the drinks. I'm happy they had a Heineken 0.0 to drink also .. Great fun , we really enjoyed it. First time here and we will be back .

My first time axe throwing and I'm addicted ! Wanted to try something new with my teen girls and even brought along the baby in the stroller. Reservations online were pretty simple. Parking was a challenge due to the mail area being packed. Make sure you plan to come early. I loved that the axe company has an axe coach that takes the time to teach you how to throw. Four of us played for one hour and we were able to play two games at a rate of two throws per each turn. Next time I would throw for two hours instead. There is no food but beer and hard kombucha etc with lots of variety.

This place is very fun. It's a bar but Axe throwing is next to it. And also there are some toys such as Jenga, cornhole. So family friendly. There is a fire pit outside and it's nice

Such a fun place to hang out and let loose! There's a bar in front from which you don't necessarily have to play. You can chill in front of the bar and patio area. If you decide to play, you'll pay and sign a waiver. Kids definitely can hang out back too no matter their age, however, must be 10 years old in order to play. They have multiple games to pick from. As this was our first time, we were just trying to get the hang of it. Prior to beginning your game, there's axe master's (can't remember the term) but they help you out and guide you. Super helpful! Games are by the hour and per person at $35

We had a great time at The Mighty Axe celebrating birthdays with a group of 12. Our axe-pert, Ray, was entertaining, informative and patient. The bartender Brittany was great. She was friendly and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed for cake, pizza, etc. (We ordered delivery from Pizza Man Dan's.) Our whole group enjoyed the axe throwing. They have different screens you can project on the wall: Bullseye target, zombies, tin cans, etc. Super fun night. 10/10 recommended. read more

I have been to the Thousand Oaks location and had a blast. The Oxnard location definitely has opportunities for improvement. I absolutely love how the Oxnard location is setup! I love the location of the bar right in front and love the outdoor patio area! So cute! The indoor/outdoor setup made it feel like we were just hanging out in someone's badass backyard patio. It wasn't busy when my friends and I showed up--there was only one couple throwing axes--everything else was empty, so I'm not exactly sure why we had to wait over 30 minutes just to get started. Terrible service at the bar--I was sitting there waiting to order a drink for close to 15 minutes while she focused all her attention talking to two guys who weren't even ordering anything. Come on, it's not like you're mixing a drink! When we tried to order drinks from our table, the bar tender took about 30 minutes to come to our table take our order, so we ended up ordering through the QR code at the table. Aside from that, out axe-pert was cool and we had a blast! It's so much fun! It's a great date idea or somewhere to go with a group of friends and let loose. A word of advice: Provide some training to the staff on better ensuring customers' safety. I became very concerned when I saw that they had let a kid axe throw when he was wearing straight up flip flops. read more

After our family had a horrendous experience at an axe throwing establishment in Santa Barbara, we called a friend and told him about it. He laughed and said "I would've told you to not go there." He then recommended this place: the Mighty Axe in Oxnard. From the moment we walked in, we were treated with the utmost courtesy and professionalism. This place was also MUCH cleaner, was in a much classier/safer location, with other A-list shops and restaurants within an easy walk, and had MUCH classier staff. Overall a very positive, upbeat, professional vibe. What a change - and a relief! We mentioned who referred us, which led to a conversation about first responders. We were then offered a first responder discount! We graciously declined - we want there to be an alternative in our local area to the other place, and are happy to pay to make sure that happens. Still, it's nice to know that first responders are valued - rather than treated like garbage, as they are at the Santa Barbara place. Once in, Ryan escorted us to our private lane and gave a 15 minute tutorial on safety and technique. My 17-year-old daughter was hitting bullseyes in about 10 minutes! The target options are plentiful and imaginative; you can even select faces from your phone's photo gallery/internet and use them as your targets! One nice plus is the comfortable seating for observers at each private lane. Another is the bar, which is fully staffed so throwers/observers can enjoy beverages. Reviews of the Santa Barbara place mentioned how they felt rushed to finish - not so here. The tutorial time is not counted toward your hour, and even after your hour is up, they don't badger you to hurry. In fact, we were there for about an hour and a half, including the time to take photos with the axe prop. Overall an A+ experience. Definitely worth the drive from Santa Barbara. read more

Great new addition to the Collection! It's across from Bolwero in between the paint and sip and jumping place. Good variety of local beers on tap as well as hard drinks like kombucha in cans. Snacks are available as well. Nice fire pit area to relax and drink and a few spots to relax at the bar. Games like CAH are available to enjoy relaxing, but unlike the T.O. location, there aren't tables set up to encourage that. QR codes allow you to order actual food from Pizza Man Dan, Luna Grill, Larsen's, or the Cheesecake Factory. Didn't try it as I was throwing during dinner time and I suspected that there would be a long delay for the delivery. Most of the lanes are projector lanes with a variety of challenges like tic tac toe, connect 4, zombies, tin can shooting gallery, and the normal permutations of a normal target. They did swap out axes midway through the throws to sharpen them, but since they just opened it really wasn't necessary. read more

Ayo personally I 100% recommend this spot if you like drinking and throwing axes. This place is full of fun activities to do from cornhole, chess, to pinball machines aside from throwing axes. So much fun! It takes a bit of training but the guy helps you and shows you how to do it. You get to pick from a variety of targets and play in teams of 4. We went with a large group and didn't wait too long. They also have delicious beers while you wait. nice patio with firepit too read more

We were immediately welcomed by Juan, and from the start he was incredibly inviting, smiley, and gave off such good vibes. He genuinely made us feel welcomed the second we walked through the door. I'm not sure what his title is because he seemed to do a little bit of everything, but he explained how everything worked, let us know we could sit and come back up to order when we were ready, brought us our food, and even gave some great menu recommendations. He was so kind and attentive throughout the entire experience. The food and beer were also very tasty, and the portions were great too -- definitely worth it. Everything added to the overall experience. Being someone who works in customer service and food service myself, I take good service seriously, and Juan truly went above and beyond. He had an amazing attitude and work ethic, and he's exactly the type of person that brings people back to places. Great service leaves a lasting impression, and he absolutely did that. What we didn't like was having to basically self serve ourselves by having to go to the bar instead of a waiter actually attending us. We didn't mind but this was never told when we first sat down until 20 minutes after no one came to our table. Once we finished eating, there was no room on our table. It took up until us finishing our last drink for someone to pass by our table to pickup our empty glasses and plates What I didn't appreciate was one of the waitresses was upset for not receiving a tip. Unfortunately , no tip was provided due to the Lack of interest service we received. We work hard for us to not be able to enjoy one night without having to try to be guilt tripped for not providing a tip. Rent , food , and everything else is expensive already as is. I also deliver food as part of another side job and not even I have expectation of a tip. I let the waitress know that it's not mandatory to provide a tip especially with the lack of service we received.

What a fun addition to The Collection! I was fortunate enough to pop in today to check this place out and I just loved it! It's very vibey and seems like the perfect place to blow off some steam, hang with buddies and enjoy some locally sourced bevs and a good time. Never thought I'd enjoy throwing axes as much as I did but its my second time here and I brought some friends this time and they had a blast. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff ready to teach you how to trow. Great vibe overall, and I really enjoyed relaxing at the outside patio firepit after our set. Come alone or with friends. We hung out on the sidewalk counting the seconds until noon, only to be disappointed as we walked by and saw a sign in the door that said 1pm. We continued on our way and went to another local bar only to return hours later via car because I had had my exercise for the day. We got lucky in finding a parking spot because this is a small area, so cross your fingers. We found 2 seats at the bar and marvelled at the selection of microbrews. For a Saturday afternoon, the place slowly filled up with locals as everyone watched the basketball finals on the tvs. Bartender was very welcoming as were the locals we chatted with. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but did find something to drink. My partner was in heaven sampling and trying new brews. Would love to return later in the evening to see how this place fills up and to enjoy more of the locals and what it would be like living in this hidden community. So shhhh! Don't tell anyone about this gem.

The owners Big J and Dave are awesome... I'm kind of overflowing with compliments here but it's just... it's the best place. If I had to choose what I was going to do with my night, my day, whatever, just getting out, it would be The Garage. Absolutely awesome.
